I just don't like their rates for transfers to bank accounts1
Guys, I was shocked to see the terrible reviews for world remit on here and I thought I better throw in a good word for them because over the years, they been great with me. I have only ended up here because recently they've changed their exchange rates a fair bit and since I am looking to transfer a large amount of money into my Bank account in Uganda (Yes, you heard that right, Uganda) to complete the construction of an apartment block, I was looking for other companies with better exchange rates. I have used Western Union before and the reas...on I stopped was because they did not provide me with the ability to deposit money directly into my overseas account but they also had really terrible exchange rates. Anyway, before I digress and get lost, I ended up coming across a money transfer service called Wise (Used to be TansferWise). Thing is I always check out customer reviews for companies before I engage them. Wise unfortunately had invariably terrible reviews, and although they had great exchange rates, I've decided not to use them. Then I thought, let me check out what people are saying about the Money Transfer company I have been using for over 5 years now . So I typed in world remit in the search bar and lo and behold! First up, they are not perfect! No one is, but what they are being accused of, I find in my experience is not true . For example: 1) I have on more than three or four occasions sent money to a relative in Uganda and then got like the telephone network on which their number is located wrong (principally because Ugandans have this annoying habit of changing their telephone numbers at the drop of a hat!), or their address. And, on all occasions-bar none, I have always received my money back in full-with even the transfer fees refunded! In fact, I trust these guys so much that on one occasion I had to send some emergency funds to a family member but unfortunately I got the telephone network on which they hold their number wrong. It was going to take a couple of days to sort this out for me to get the refund as told to me by world remit. But because I trusted World Remit completely, I actually made a second transfer to the same recipient, even before the one where I had gotten his details wrong had been refunded, just because he needed the money really urgently . And sure enough, I got the money from the first transfer refunded back to me in whole-together with he transfer fees. So they've been absolutely great in all ways and very prompt and so it shocked me some people have had crappy experiences with them. My only gripe with them is the crappy recent exchange rates and high transfer fees .
Unsatisfactory Customer Service
I have been using World Remit for about 2 years to satisfactorily transfer money to Cameroon and Zambia. Initially, when I needed to phone their Help number in Australia, I never needed to wait more than a few minutes. Recently in 2021, the waiting time has been endless and their call - back service never responds! If some failure in the transfer occurs, how do I contact them!

I sent money to world remit. It shows on my bank statement it paid to a NAB bank account. Online website not show a transaction. World remit office in Sydney seems closed as no one there. Phone number is disconnected. Multiple tries in trying to find customer service. Online live chat not working now too.
EDIT- Finally got to speak to a person who are always polite when can. They will refund money and did have issue with poli banking. Just if have issue try contact go on twitter as that is how i got someone to give me a case number which can use to call and talk to a helpful person
Has worked for cash pick up only
For the past 3 years i have ben sending money to South Amerca using the 'cash pick up' service afiliated to approved agencies by legit banks .. no dramas , got a quick confirmation and best forex rates than the ones offered by banks through a swift transfer. But I dont think the app is reliable when making a direct transfer to a bank account overseas hence the many bad reviews for that service..pity this is the time when it is needed the most !
Reliable and trustworthy
We have been using World Remit to send money to the Philippines and Bolivia since January 2019 and have been very happy with their service. Others may have slightly better transfer rates but at least with World Remit I am confident the money will arrive safely.
Delay in Response after submission of documents
You requested documents that I submitted through email because the upload button was not working Now it's 3 days. My relative has not received the money. He has lost his bid to buy very essential items for the family
Unreliable at times
Been using this service to send money for a while, had an issue with waiting for authorisation. Got my issue resolved, however it took them a while to do so.
Update: The money from my cancelled transactions has been refunded. It seems like they were having problems with Poly but the money has reached my account today.

No one at worldremit would give me an answer as to when my money will be refunded. Worldremit cancelled the transaction and after 9 working days no one is still able to tell me when I'll get my money back.
Customer service says they need to contact their finance department and that they will contact me but they havent. Its really sad how this company plays around with their customers.
Will I still be credited
Money was sent to me by a friend to my account but the name she input isn’t the same name on my account but the names and every other thing are correct it shows processing over 48hours now will I still be credited?
We send money to some of my wife's relatives in Colombia. It is normally available on the same day. Now two of the payments have taken over a week to process and two were available the same day: all were to the same bank, from the same bank, and each for the same amount. There seems no logical explanation for this. On previous occasions, to the same accounts and for the same amounts, there had been no delays.
Amount not been transferred instantly
I have been a loyal customer ofWorld Remit.I noticed that when I send AUD 9000 + world remit does not instantly send the amount to my bank in India.Last week I sent a substantial amount and I had to call up WR customer service and only then my money was credited to my bank in India.Yesterday I sent the same amount 9000 plus and when the amount was not credited to my account in India, I called up WR and the lady whom I spoke to gave me a silly excuse that they have not received the amount from Poli.My account shows the amount has been sent to W...R.She couldnt help me and asked me to wait until Monday .Even though WR advertises that money goes to the bank account of the receiver instantly,am afraid to tell you the truth. For smaller amounts, there is no problem.Its when I sent a lump sum on both occasions I went through agony.The amount I transferred yesterday via WR has not been credited to my account in Infia.They didnt even acknowledge receipt of the sum.No email nor mobile messages was sent to me.I am deeply saddened by the inefficiency of WR.They should honour what they advertise instant money transfer. Hope they will improve the service and not let down the valued customers like me Regards Kohinoor.
$4000 went missing for 1 week
I sent money to my boyfriend for an upcoming holiday. Well first I was accused of not having met my boyfriend in real life. It was sent for review and my transaction was not approved and my account cancelled, with no reason given apart from to look at the ts &cs. (Which i did and no rule was broken) i think they just assumed as my boyfriend is Albanian that it was dodgy. I'm well respected and so is my partner. Anyway none if that matters. What matters is that $4000 was missing for over a week. I was told I would get it back in 3 days. I...t took 8 days, 8 days of not knowing if I had been scammed or ripped off. Very bad experience UPDATE: I have updated my rating due to the amazing experience I had with Amy who took the time to listen to me and have my case looked into. She was knowledgable kind and efficient.
You need to understand how they operate!!
I had three transfers to two recipients, however WorldRemit use local partners in other countries so you need to know the local transfer codes and not the international transfer codes, albeit the app / order form is vague and unclear on this point. If there is a mistake or a change required for the recipient information you need to wait five business days plus one additional business day from the time (WorldRemit) send the information to their (local agent) and for their (local agent) to acknowledge the transfer. If you contact the call centr...e you receive a very average response as they want to tell you things and not listen to what is required in terms of resolution with a few exceptions... At least I know what I am dealing with now.... forewarned is forearmed as a customer... not good, not the worst and not great!
My urgent transfer is delayed
I have used worldremit for many years for small transactions and there has been no issue. This is the first time I made substantial transaction to family who needs the money urgently and I am disappointed that the money is still hanging in the balance after it left my account. I called their office and after been left for 30 mins, the person on hone told me the money is with a third party and they cannot do anything about it. I am been directed to "the third party" that I have no contact on any contract with. If world remit set this system up...and there is an issue you will expect them to own it and chase it. To ask me to follow up my money that left my account is a break of the trust I have had in them. I will follow this up because this is a lot of money that I am not prepared to loose. I am now going to start a negative campaign that people risk loosing their money by engaging this service. Issues now resolved and have revised my rating. There is need for improving telephone follow up.
I am not really impressed
Someone told me about how efficient the world remit platform was and I tried it out with my friend in the United States. She sent money to me here in Nigeria using the platform online, her account was debited right away, account disabled right away, no credit deposit. She sent an email and no response gotten after the first one saying y'll take 24 hours to respond ro customer, this was suppose to be a christmas gift and you prefer to hold back that money and not offer services you were paid for? It's preposterous and not fair.

I received a money transfer notification from WorlRemit on the same day I started a strict 14-day home quarantine. Should I inform the sender to cancel the transfer or should I wait until i have completed my quarantine to withdraw it? Please advice.
