FALSE Advertising on Wotif.com Says Free Cancellation but they then charge a cancellation fee!
i booked accommodation advertised on Wotif.com as Free cancellation, only to be charged a cancellation fee. When i called the help line, they claim the charge was by the Motel, which is correct, however only Wotif.com had my credit card details! No prior notice. NEVER AGAIN Wotif.com !! Note same org. as lastminute.com.au or Travel.com.au. Stick to Airbnb or go direct.
Incompetent support, will not use them again
Tried to have a hotel booking updated within a few hours of making the booking since I mistyped the date. I contacted the hotel on a couple of occasions with the details and each time the hotel responded to say the change would be accepted and wotif just need sort out their end and on subsequent emails that no one from wotif had contacted them.
Wotif support kept coming back saying the hotel is rejecting the request.
DO NOT USE WOTIF. Payment collected but no Tax invoice from the Hotel
I used Wotif to book a hotel in NZ 3 months in advance, with the payment terms being "Pay later". To my surprise I was charge in next 3 days the full amount without any information OR without any email confirmation or invoice for the payment charged. When I called wotif, they said the hotel could not send tax invoice as policy even after collecting the full payment.
I had to spend 1 week over emails with Wotif customer support and after much frustration had to call them and had to talk for over 1 hour to get the matter sorted. I could not ONL...
Absolutely terrible. Avoid at all costs
Company doesnt send confirmations emails upon booking accomodation, pretty standard across all other booking websites. Call centre is less than helpful and rude. Avoid at all costs. Never booking with them again
Consumer Out of Pocket...What a Surprise..Not!
I booked a hotel through Wotif for a Saturday night two weeks ago. I turned up to the Hotel at 3pm on the Saturday only to be told I had inadvertently booked for Sunday night and of course there was no availability on the Saturday night. So I said to the receptionist can you please cancel as obviously I am looking for accommodation for Saturday night, she said yes no problem totally understand and then I went searching for alternate accommodation (the receptionist did not mention I had to cancel with Wotif but did give me some suggestions as to...where I might find accommodation for that night). On the Monday I checked my credit card statement and there was a charge from the original hotel so I rang them and they said you were a no show for last night, to which I replied I came in on Saturday and your receptionist cancelled it due to it being for the wrong date. I was told by the hotel not our problem talk to Wotif and Wotif (after 3 phone calls and getting the issue all wrong) are saying well it's the hotel's discretion regarding a refund and you should have cancelled through us, so nothing we can do. Funnily enough I could pay for the hotel at time of check-in but apparently they can't cancel a booking at their own hotel. So hotel has their money and Wotif has their commission and I am out of pocket $320. Never again and will not be recommending either the hotel or Wotif to anyone.
Scams and robbery
I booked a hotel with wotif and was never sent a confirmation. It was a cancellable booking so I suppose if they dont send a confirmation it is harder to cancel. I called the hotel I had booked with to confirm my booking a few days prior- they had no booking. I assumed I had not booked it correctly and so made another booking. The day before my booking wotif sent a message about my original booking. I panicked and called hotel who still had no booking under my name and said they could do nothing. I called wotif who refused to do anything. What a SCAM. Ruined my anniversary.

Don't use Wotif...
Wotif are obviously trying to exploit the shared economy as they lean into Airbnb style accomodation, only problems is there is no customer transparency or accountability to maintaining quality standards.
After booking an apartment (last minute) through trusted Wotif, I arrived and the apartment (airbnb style with no reception or onsite assistance, which would generally be fine BTW) to be instantly hit with a very strong smell of cigarettes.... in the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom and even right through the bedlinen.......now, I can put up with a-lot so persisted for an hour or so, opening doors and windows to try and air the place out. It didn't take too long to realise that this was going to be a pretty difficult couple nights sleep in this environment, so i tried calling the "offsite property manager" who was not answering, so i called Wotif who then reached out to the same "offsite property manager" who simply said "this is the only room they manage and there is nothing they can do" I decided i couldn't stay and would move to another hotel, and politely asked for a refund of the service that was not inline with what was sold to me. Long story short... After lengthy discussions with Wotif about my consumer rights they were willing to give me a 50% refund, but not willing to accept accountability for the quality of suppliers they are listing on their website. Wotif is no longer interested in connecting customers with quality hotels, they are just in it for the money. Proceed with caution, Wotif are offering shonky apartments and houses in an attempt to compete with airbnb. They have no transparency of customer reviews and you don't really know what you are getting. And last of all... secret hint... If you can get a price on Wotif, you can also get it (or better) from booking direct. Why use a middle man? Don't do it. Just book direct.
Won't change dates when website is faulty
I booked accommodation for a hotel in January, but when I checked the booking the dates were for December. I called wotif straight away and they said they will need to cancel, not change the booking. I didn't want to cancel, but they said that's what we need to do. Then they came back saying the hotel refused to cancel the booking. I said again that I just need the dates changed to what I booked. I've been in contact with the hotel who said it's Wotif (expedia) who I need to call to change the booking and then they will do it no problems. Wotif...lied to me about what the hotel said so they can pass the buck and be greedy. I've spent hours on the phone for a problem on their website, complete waste of my time. Wotif has plummetted since they were acquired by Expedia. AVOID THEM!
Wotif = disgraceful customer service. Be warned.
The Wotif website offered smoking and non-smoking rooms in a particular hotel. We booked a non-smoking room and paid for the room for 2 nights via the Wotif.com website. Payment and the booking of the non smoking room were confirmed via return email.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were advised only smoking rooms were available. The rooms were disgusting.
We immediately contacted the Wotif customer service centre who refused to accept any responsibility claiming it was the hotels fault. It was pointed out they were the ones who advertised the ...
Wotif charged us $40 for a transfer from airport to our hotel in Penang. We did not realise the actual cost till we booked our selves for the return journey. It cost less than one third of the cost.
October 17th 2019 Update: Money grabbers
They take advantage of you as they know that you will not know anything about the local place. I booked a cab through Wotif from airport to my Double tree Hilton in Penang. Wotif charged me about $40 and convincing me that it was a good deal. When I booked myself from hotel to airport I realised that it costs less than $15.
Hi, so today my boyfriend and i were trying to book return flights from Melbourne to QLD and the total was $500 and once I put my bank details in, it took $54 from my account and proceeded to say that the cost had gone up. It was still wanting approx $500. i knew it was a scam so i didn't pay the money, luckily i have only lost $54 but may this be a warning to others that Cheap flights are not always cheap!
Appalling Customer Service
I booked a hotel a hotel through Wotif (Sun-Filled 8 Star Nishi in Canberra) and it stated that the additional fees I would be expected to pay at the property would be $125.00. I then received a bill from the property for this $125.00 plus a $60 admin fee. In addition to this, the property fees were also exclusive of GST - again something Wotif failed to clarify on their booking confirmation. When I called the customer service line to complain about this lack of clarity I just got a curt response that it is just an estimate anyway. They wouldn'...t give me a refund when I asked for one. What is even more galling is the fact I've just gone to Wotif to check if they've adjusted their page for this property, to include the extra $60 + additional GST amounts in the value expected to be paid at the property and it hasn't changed in that it still shows $125.00! Ridiculous that Wotif doesn't even have a complaints service thus forced to vent my frustration through a reviews website instead like so many other customers!
Unable to check into hotel, no refund available from wotif - scammed
Booking made to stay in Auckland. Questions to hotel via wotif email unanswered. Unable to make contact to book into motel, despite numerous attempts via email, phone, text. Left stranded with family with no accommodation. Found and paid for alternate accommodation down the street. Contacted wotif on day of arrival. Reception desk next to property did not handle bookings for that particular unit number but advised that other travellers had also been left stranded in similar situations for that unit number. I advised that to wotif. Now on return...from holiday wotif have said no refund - that is despite me still receiving no contact in 10 days from the hotel and wotif themselves not being able to contact them either. Property is still on wotif for booking, also despite wotif publishing my review to say that the booking is likely a scam. Stay away. I will no longer use Wotif.
Appalling and fraudulent! Stay away!
STOLE OUR MONEY! We booked accommodation for one price, confirmed and checked all details however were charged over $200 more from our account than listed on the website! We would not have booked it for this price. We have spent hours on the phone chasing it up and the customer service is appalling, rude and completely unhelpful. They have taken no responsibility and refused to give back the extra money that they charged us!
It has been a complete joke. We would never use them again and I would advise anyone against it!! Stay away!!
The name of the business says it all!
1. I booked return tickets for my wife with wotif.
2. Only the onward was booked, the return was not booked. However, their confirmation mail mentioned that both onward and return were booked; they also instructed us not to call them for confirmation.
3. On calling them later, they conveniently put the blame on the airline, transferred the call, and behaved irresponsibly! The fact was that they actually did not book the return ticket when their mail reported otherwise.
4. I was forced to book a return ticket through an other agent, I lost time...
Unhelpful and uncaring
We were due to go to fiji in October. My wife has been declared medically unfit to travel. We provided the medical certificate as requested by Wotif in order to process a refund on both our flights and hotel. The only response I got is that the airline will follow its non-refundable policy. Not a word about the hotel request and I get the feeling that they didn't even bother calling the airline to request a refund or credit. We have given plenty of notice in order for the airlines to resell the tickets and the hotel to rebook the room. I'm now out of pocket thousands of dollars on top of medical bills for my wife. It's amazing how companies get so big then don't seem to care about their customers.

Using Wotif for the first time, and what a terrible experience! Extremely disappointed with the accommodation upon arrival and tried to cancel my booking. After 3 attempts at calling, and being hung up on 3 times (after being placed on hold for extensive periods), there was no resolution! I have since emailed every single day to request a refund and after 8 days still NOT RESOLVED WITH NO REFUND as promised. I do not recommend!!
SCAM SCAM SCAM ... AVOID at all costs!!!
SCAM SCAM SCAM.. avoid it !!
I used there APP but at the last minute AFTER you apply your credit card details, the date CHANGED !!
Too late then . ALSO when I rang them to complain and had to rebook , my great deal jumped up 277-00.
AVOID this web site , they are just scammers BUT you will get a lovely apology , example - ‘ We are sorry to hear blah blah blah ...
Stick it where the sunshine don’t shine
Do not trust! Don't get the apartment you booked!
We booked three months in advance. We got to our apartment and immediately knew it was definitely not the 'executive' apartment we had booked from their photos. My husband rang and was told that apartment was no longer available and we had been 'upgraded' to a higher floor and that they were surprised nobody had emailed to tell us. Our upgraded apartment was run down and nothing like the one we had paid for. Hugely disappointed. We would have refunded and gone elsewhere if we had have been told. Not good enough. Never again!

I didn’t get my confirmation either, so I didn’t think my booking went through, so I missed my stay at the hotel, only to see I was still charged and will not give refund or rebook my stay....very disappointed
Worst customer service I’ve ever seen. They don’t call back when promised and just drag things out hoping you will just give up
