Dobby is a very welcome new member of our Clean Team.
My Roborock s7 is great. We are a pet free and child free household, Sotheby’s floors do not get very grotty. After the first run, I realised the robot needed a name, and it is now called Dobby. Dobby has no problem cleaning our combination of timber floors and large rugs. I was pretty shocked at how much dust it lifted on the first couple of runs. The mopping function is staying on top of most grungy bits although does not replace the weekly normal mop. I did find the mapping to be a bit challenging, although I managed to work out how to ex...clude one area, around the bottom of bar stools. I would like a Bin Full reminder, and I would also like to be able to change the voice- Australia does not need an American accent in our robots! It is also a wee bit noisy. I am a first time robot cleaner owner so can not compare with other cleaners. But I would recommend this to anyone wanting a robot cleaner.

Roborock S7 helps me multitask, but cleaning quality is just OK!
I wanted to go for budget friendly S6 Pure instead of S7, but due to repetitive advertisements on social mediaI and new features added in S7, I went for latter.
I unboxed it and tested on Day 1 of receiving my pre-ordered unit. It worked OK.
The next morning I powered it on and received error that the APP is unable to connect to the robot.
I reset the unit, deleted the app, and tried adding the robot vacuum cleaner but it failed each time.
I also took it off the docking station and powered it off for a while and powered back on, still it did not connect to my WiFI....It complaint that the password is incorrect, however, I triple confirmed the WiFi password is correct. I even brought the cleaner to same room as router and mobile phone but it made no difference. I looked online and followed the steps from link below: https://support.roborock.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035369812-What-should-I-do-when-Wi-Fi-connection-fails- It did not make any difference. I made sure Router is configured for Security Mode WPA2 PSK. DNS was changed to 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168. There were no special characters in my WiFi password. Eventually I got it working by resetting my WiFi password and changing it back to what it was. *Room Mapping* It was easy to map the house and create room layout. I have noticed a couple of times, the Roborock gets confused following a path when doing selective room cleaning. See picture attached, I asked it to clean the Toy room and Gym room, but it got stuck behind a wall in the living room. I took it back to Dock and started again which worked fine this time. *Cleaning Quality* Vacuuming quality is also not super impressive even on full power. It does not pick up all debris of the same type consistently, on carpet or hard floor. The mop does not remove even some light stains which can be wiped off by a whip of a finger. I haven’t tried the Deep Clean function though. *Final verdict* Pros: It’s great for you if you do a lot of multitasking. I will give it 8/10 for cleaning. It helped me clean under my bed which I didn’t do in two years :) Cons: Will I recommend it to someone? May be NOT the S7! My friends have the S5 and S6 pure, it’s better to save some money and get the cheaper option, as it does the same cleaning job. The Auto Mop lifting is just a gimmick(though cool), you can really set no mop zones on carpet area. It is a pain to empty the bin manually, really looking forward to the auto empty bin which they say is expected this year. And Roborock, if you are listening, can you please create a feature request to allow users to manually set how much battery reserve is needed for the unit to go back to charging station? The current 20% reserve is really an overkill in most setup. Sometimes there is just a couple of meter squares left and it goes back for Dock at 20% battery remaining. Plus, can you also add the bin full and water tank empty notification?

Cleaning Floors is Much Easier
The first vacuuming filled the dust collector, and I thought that the carpets were fairly clean. And it mops the tiled floors well. Overall, I am pleased with it.
The disadvantages are:
- insufficient battery life to do a full house clean
- regular shutdowns because it cannot find its way around furniture or out of corners
- occasional failures to dock correctly and so cannot recharge.

Know better, choose better.
Have used it on both carpet and vinyl tiles it works brilliantly. Carpet seems best to restrict to a couple of big rooms to prevent dust chamber over-filling but that is fine. Wish the room divider allowed more flexibility other than just 1 line. Some of my areas aren't single straight line split. Still it works remarkably well. Very happy.

Gets the job done, but could be improved.
Used on tile and timber laminate flooring. Vacuum is great. Using the micro fibre clean cloth without water picks up fine dust that suction and rollers miss. Wet mopping is good gets a good even clean using disposable mop cloths with water and 3 cycles for each room changing the cloth between rooms. Whilst this is not as good at obstacle avoidance due to no camera and supported AI like ecovacs deebot T8 Ozmo Pro with AIVI (Artificial Intelligent Visual Identification) which identifies pets, cables, chargers and other obstacles and informs you v...ia their phone app, the Roborock S7 has longer battery life and more powerful 5 stage suction settings. Roborock S7 could be improved with the addition of visual obstacle avoidance and notification like the Deebot, as well as a self emptying station (apparently in development). The S7 like some other high end robot vacuums also supports multi level mapping. Editing the maps with the Roborock app (at least on iPhone) is problematic as app frequently crashes, but maps are stored on board the robot and can be edited in the mi home app and imported back to the Roborock app. Only issue doing it that way is the need to reset the Roborock’s wi-fi setting to switch between apps. The app allows setting of no go zones, and no mop zones. Integration with Siri is via Siri Shortcuts, a native Siri implementation would be better but this is more to do with Apple than Roborock as Apple’s HomeKit currently doesn’t have support for robotic cleaning. This may change with future updates to Siri and HomeKit as the robotic cleaners are becoming a mainstay in the modern smart home.

This roborock vacuum is fantastic at picking up all the dog hair as we have 2 huskies and they are forever shedding so we needed something that could handle that and this machine does that fantastically, you can also set no go zones from the app and also name each room in the app, you can set the suction strength for each room and the mopping feature as well, you can also set up invisible walls to stop the roborock S7 from going somewhere it should not be going, over all we are delighted with this machine but do wish it had come with two microf...ibre mopping cloths as the disposal ones are no where near as good even with the water flow on the lowest setting as they seem to leave streaks on our high gloss porcelain tiles, so everyday we have to wash the microfibre mopping cloth and dry and put back on for the next day if we don’t do that then the floor does not mop good, so other then that it is a fantastic machine and we look forward to the self emptying bin when it becomes available later this year to help with the dust bin emptying. If it had come with the second microfibre mopping cloth i would have given 5 stars but because of that it has lost one star.

Questions & Answers
Please consider building an outdoor 'covered area' mop/vac robot so I can keep my tiled entertainment area clean. So many houses in Australia have outdoor covered entertainment areas at the back of the house and they get dusty relatively quickly. Makita has a heavy duty mop robot that might do the job but I am sure you can come up with a good robot for outdoor area. It could be twice as tall with bigger wheels and water carrying capacity to deal with the heavier cleaning requirements of an outdoor area.
