XTM Standard Automatic Rooftop Questions & Answers
Our electronic rooftop tent is not working. New batteries in remote but nothing happening. Any suggestions?
It could that the module/contoller has died or power is not getting to it. Check the plug and wiring. If you are not a 'handy' person then seek professional help and be prepared to PAY.
Can you manually open the tent if the actuator does not work Cheers Greg
I've never tried but disconnecting the bottom end of the actuator, then propping the tent open with a suitable stick may work until wind rattles the stick loose!
where do get fitted sheets for the mattress

Hi John Our xtm Rooftop tent is 9 years old and soft top style. It isn't working with remotes and both remotes have had new batteries put it. Where would you recommend I start with finding a person who could do repairs or install new actuator if needed? Thanks
Hi just a long shot but I’m after a remote for my roof top hard shell tent . Does anyone know where I could get one .. bcf do not have them. Or if someone has one they no longer need . I’d be interested. Thanks
Hi Matthew, I still have my two originals and I'm careful with them. I've wondered where replacements might be available. U might have to try Aliexpress for controllers but u also might have to replace the electronic control board as well. No harm in purchasing a remote from Ali as they will be rediculously cheap just to see if it works with the existing system. Here is a link: AU$6.40 | 3.7v 4.5v 9v 12v motor Forward Reverse steering Controller module wireless remote control switch 433mhz rf transmitter receiver https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPagj1I
Hey I was just wondering what size the mattress was for the tent
The control box on my XTM auto rooftop tent has failed..have been told they are not available any more..what can I do..
If mine fails, I'm gonna get this:
AU $32.31 | DC 9-30V 10A Positive Inversion Controller &Wireless Remote Control for Forward Reverse Rotation of DC Motor / Linear Actuator https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMjjzHZ
Where can I get a remote for my xtm automatic roof top tent the remote have been lost
Try BCF.
I have just picked up an old XTM hard shell roof top tent. The bevel gear drive has stripped some teeth . Where ca I get a replacement ?
Hi mate, I'm in the same situation Did you find the spare parts to replace the broken teeth system?
Thanks
No
Where to find store for parts
Hi
Does anyone know if I can purchase a new bracket for this tent? One has broken and needs replacing but I cannot find spare parts anywhere as they no longer sell this particular tent
Do you have a double automatic rooftop tent thx lee
Yes I have automatic xtm rooftop tent where can I find parts thanx ross
I’m also looking for replacements motors for my automatic roof top tent. Supercheap Auto’s have a generic brand I believe, looks exactly the same, parts is what I need, Does anyone have an answer please ?
Try Ebay, look for actuator. Plenty there..
How can the tent be packed up if the remote control is broken please? Someone said to disconnect the actuators. But what are they? Cheers Heather
Hi Heather Same has just happened to me. Did you get an answer?
Same has happened to me how did you sort it out
I'm curious if you're able to set up/take down the tent without using the electric motors - eg; if they have decided not to work anymore.
I carry tools to disconnect the actuators for just such an occurrence. As yet I haven't needed to find out if that works! Three years and counting!
HAS anyone fitted the double elect roof top xtm to a Sr5 Hilux dual cab and is the Rhino roof racks front and back strong enough for the xtm
I've got rhino rack on my subaru. Holds a lot better the the standard subaru forester ones.
How much are they and how big are they
King single or double. Price depends on where you find them. About 2300 aud
Were can you bey one in W.A thanks.
Are they the hard shell one's
How much do they weigh
Not light - 50 - 60kg. My 1995 Commodore wagon handles it ok. But I only put it on when I'm gonna use it.
about 70kg
Roof top tent won’t fold down we think it’s the main board as remotes are working but had to unbolt things to get it down anyone else had this problem thanks
Not yet and coming up to three years use.
Yes had to get a replacement actuator
Hi where did you get replacement actuator please
Have xtm soft automatic rooftop tent currently not working, have power to module and blip batteries ok but motors not kicking in and green led not lighting up. I believe transponder unit is faulty on component motherboard, am I on the right track or have I missed something? thanks.
Sorry Geez, can't help you. My electronic knowledge is more basic than your question. Mine is working ok so far. If it packs up, I'll go back to BCF to see if spares are available for that. I did enquire about the linear actuators as I thought they might go first. And yes spares are available. I should get one. I must remember to carry suitable Allen keys so I can collapse the tent if things go pear-shaped when out bush. I'd hate to be driving around with a tent I can't fold down!!
Iv had the same issue, i pulled a motor apart and found that a plastic clip has broken off which slides along the inner tube of the motor and hits buttons which tells the motor to either stop or start again. Im in the process of trying to get parts but the company wont have a bar of it because of the product recall on the tie down straps.
