Bought a second Sim for OPTUS in the belief that I have good reception given their tower (rural) is closer to my place. Frequently received marketing material after activation with prompts for deals if recharged by then and then or free data if replied withing 24 hours. Nothing ever arrived even they had confirmed by text. Optus is basically a dishonest provider with a Network that is even worse in rural areas than Telstra.
Avoid at all cost
I have tried a few providers and optus came out last in terms of Quality of Service, Customer Service, Price point.
The speed of their networks is terrible, no matter 4G or 5G and connections is very patchy. 2-5mbps mostly, 15mbps at best weather midnight recently (previously 25mbps).
They advertised 5G speed and the coverage they can achieve. Forget 5G, maximise their 4G and I would be more than happy to stay.
Do not fooled by their 5G advertisement, in fact dont be sold by marketing people for 5G.
If those providers can give you full 4G spee...
Shocking network and even worse "customer service".
Fortnightly network outages for about a week each, for months which necessitated a second Telstra phone so I work. Optus finally admitted no fix in sight. Refused to refund. TIO no help either. I wouldnt go near either of them again.
I thought I would try optus first when filling out details of account the software collapsed and info gone second when i put in optus sim on my 4g phone it gets only 3g - then begins the nightmare - 4 days of utter frustration messaging 3 different optus help staff - first one no help at all the second one we do a few tests - put a different sim in from another comp and up comes 4 g - so the optus sim is the problem - although myname address and postcode is all over the forms all three optus staff began checking 4 g on another address in anoth...er state which cause hours of wasted time on phone hours for me trying to see if problem was in settings and also contacting the seller - eventually it is referred up to their so called experts - i get robo text saying looking into it but you cannot reply - is says go to account cases for update again there is blannk for update and no way to contact - it has gone into a black hole - one person was trying to contact me on the ph that has the bad sim when i gave my email and good ph no - the call came from oseas and voice mail was left which i couldnt understand - probably swaheli i think - so i get back to meessages again and spend anothe hour going thu all the crap - she is going to fix it - but again nothing - I have a new mob ph that is locked into crappy optus 3 g and probably ruined by all the stuffing around i have had to do. end of story - do not go near optus - they are third rate supplier and a zilch rated customer service - it is non existent - if you want a truck load of headaches and bone shattering frustration then try them but you will need a doctor nearby. m heffernan
Watch out for the "Ghost bill" that you have no idea how this happen.
Ok, first of all . We all know the bills from the Oz BIG company are pretty expensive but the service are“cheap”. My contract with optus was 24 months and paying $108 for each month. Some how my contract with Optus was end 3 months ago and now I am with a different provider, affordable and less hassle but I still recieving bill from optus. First I though it was some kind of scam email, bad people just want you to type in your details and all that, untill the emails are keep coming in. I contact the optus and they say because I didnt pay the amo...unt in full, I had the card processing fees left out. Ok people, I pay the bills through the Optus app and as we all know , the amount was set by the app when you click "pay the bill". So think twice before you sign up this company.
Optus changed my plan unilaterally 3 times in a month
Changed my plan 3 times in a month. I told Optus, I am going to telecommunication ombudsman, Optus said, telecommunication ombudsman can't do anything & Optus will not review the decision.
Every 5 sec my net droped out. I called them 5 times, can't get throw to technical team. When I did got through they put in hold for more them hour and pass my call from one to another, without sloving the issue. Sick of it.
It's still not fix. wrose ever service. I should stick with TPG. They lure me in becouse of free EPL.
Very Bad service i asking for public IP address and they provide Private IP address and keeping more than 5 day to solve and they did NOT solve it, and they do complain as wifi issue
What has happened at Optus? They used to be good.

I will describe my long story.
I have been a customer for Optus and have been a "promoter" of theirs, recommending them to others, since they moved me across from Virgin, also a subsidiary of Optus. So in total I have been a customer for about 13 years.

Worst service ever, belong is far better then optus, call continuously dropout ,mobile internet is slow and customer service is terriable and everytime when I called always try to do upsell rather then fix my problem

Optus would be the worst company to deal with they have no idea on what is going. I have no accounts with Optus I have closed all my accounts with Optus this is why. First mobile phone contract has be closed and last payment payed. But Optus keep sending bills of all different prices been on the phone and they say that it is fixed and all removed. A month later they send a new bill. This has been going on for 4 months. How for the broadband I got a Optus broadband account and waited for the modem to turn up. It never arrived. Rang Optus and the...y told me to go and rind and chase up the missing modem. I told them that was there responsibility. It was left missing. And Optus now keep sending bills for a service that they can not supply. Bills keep coming I ring and they wipe the bill and it comes back in a month. This is Ridiculous. I would never use OPTUS again and would not recommend them as a provider at all.
Useless service, untrained team members, illegal things.
They sold me 4G broadband with a max download speed of 0.8mbps. It took almost 4 hours to convince Optus my service is faulty. I've been transferred to 8 different Optus team members during the 4 hours period. After speaking to the tech it appeared to be faulty since i purchased the service as there was a tower outage in my area. Selling faulty service when the know that its faulty, transferring me to 8 different team members, taking 4 hours on the line to refund! Definitely the worst provider I've ever seen.
stay clear of this provider, very bad and slow customer service
I bought a mobile + eSIM postpaid plan. I've been trying days to activate my eSIM, no luck. Call them several times and wasted more than 3 hours and still cannot get it resolved. Their customer service and IT team do not care about wasting customers' time at all. More importantly, they have no idea about what they are doing. They told me conflicting information and most of time just put me on hold in order to do some research or ask the team, but in the end they always come back with zero solution. It's so frustrating to deal with them. I should have stayed with Kogan. I thought paying premium will mean a better service. A huge mistake!
I bought a phone through OPTUS and I paid it in full but it came locked
Its been over a month that I bought a phone through OPTUS, I paid for it in full and I have tried contacting them several times and every time they either hang up on me or they say I will receive a message including unlock code from them (It hasn't happened yet after a month)
I requested extra data and 5 days later was told that I did not request extra data and was charged $120 optus are thieves that gaslighted me don't trust them

Useless mobile nextwork even in our own home. Changed over to another carrier for my mums and myselfs mobiles, no problems since. Customer service is useless and is just a money grabbing business. Cancelled everything at the end of May and was still getting bills till mid July. Constant phonecalls and emails get nowhere. Was told 3 times I would recieve a post paid parcel bag to send back the modem but nothing turned up of course. And of course the overdue modem bill was then sent to debt collectors staining my credit score. Modem was returned ...through the local store at start of June only to have yet another bill sent on the 12th of july demanding a processing fee and late payment fee. More calls and finally some sort of outcome reached. But will believe it has been solved if i dont get more bills. They all say 1 thing and then do another. So over it. Would not recommend them to anyone. Avoid like the plague. Oh and when the account was so called cancelled they took out yet again a massive chunk of money from the credit refund.
Worst connectivity and customer service
Network coverage is dodgy. I filed multiple complaints because towers in my area always kept going down every couple of weeks and they’d put them under maintenance. The service became unusable.
Customer representative called me and asked what would you like us to do to resolve your issue? I said fix the tower properly so that you don’t have to keep taking it down for “maintaining” every couple of weeks. Representative said “We can’t do that.”
If they can’t make their service reliable then what are they doing in the business? This company’s service is a joke.
Optus are criminals
I had a mobile with Optus, got my monthly bill only to find alot of extra charges i did not use or ask for, they added 3 x 1gb add-ons within 3 hours on a single day and i hadn't even touched my phone as i was at work and my phone was connected to the work wifi.
I rang up and questioned it, they sent my account directly to default, they ruined my credit score and credit history, they have admitted fault but there is nothing i can do.
Stay away from these criminals.
Biggest mistake ever
After my marriage which was my first biggest mistake in life, switching from Telstra to Optus after 10 years was the second one. Look forward going back to Telstra once this nightmare is over.
No proper coverage, internet quality is horrible, and the calls cut in and out.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE
wifi stopped working 4 days ago, do you think optus has been any help? NO never are, told us they would send a technician today... did not show up!! what kind of customer service.
Ripe offs, unreliable and unethical
I joined optus on a $55 business plan for 24 months. 7 months into the plan, they changed their minds and cancelled the plan. No apologies, no nothing. Bad company, I will never recommend them to anyone. Moose mobiles although on the optus network, is a much better, more affordable alternative.
Customer Support, what support?
I had recently purchased an Optus prepaid mobile broadband, I cannot use the app without confirming a 6 digit pin which had been sent to the wifi device, which I cannot access the (SMS) message to. Tried calling the helpline and they are closed, called up the store where I had bought the device gave me a different number, which yielded the same result (closed!). Then I had attempted to get onto the live chat line to have a conversation with a bot! I have entered my details on their web-form via the chat window to have someone contact me back on...the number which belongs to the wifi broadband device. What happened to good old customer service? Terrible experience, we are all use to bad service with Telstra since the Covid19 restrictions, but this from Optus is disappointing! All I want is to monitor my internet usage!!!
Slow 4g speed
I just joined the 4g internet. You get a super speed at start then after 24hr it slows down to as low as 4mb download over 1mb upload. Been like that since. Tech support say because many people using optus. So why you charge more than other. Now I'm stuck for 24 months.
