I've been with Optus for around 3-4 years I was prepaid the sim was under my mums name so I was gonna get a new prepaid sim but I decided I wanted the iPhone 7 plus I got it on a plan it cost around $126 a month it is a little steep but so worth it I get unlimited Spotify and Netflix data free which I use both which is a big plus.
Optus has cut out for me in the past but usually fixed within 1-2 days it does suck when it happens it's probably the only issue with Optus but they usually have it up and running asap,
Getting the phone was so eas...
I needed to buy a basic 3G mobile to replace my wife's 2G .... She only needs a Talk Text mobile...Visited our local Optus Stores at Westfield's Shopping town, Marion SA. Got terrific service...Salesperson offered me a suitable 3G Talk & Text Alcatel one touch 20.45x and because I'm not up with all the latest tech stuff he helped me set it up and assisted with it's many features. Could not believe it only cost $29.00 ... Extremely happy with Optus and the new mobile !
I have the $30 pre paid Optus plan. I get unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles. And unlimited texts.
I love it. No problems with connecting. And I arranged for auto recharge so I don't have to remember to recharge.
I will stick with them as long as they don't increase their pricing.
Excellent customer service
Very happy with their customer service. Representative was very helpful. Listened my problem carefully and tried his best to help me. Very happy with Optus customer service.
Live Chat is a waste of time
My coverage is excellent and I have had no problems changing plans etc BUT...speaking to someone on the phone is so much easier than the Live Chat system Optus uses to manage their queries. It is extremely difficult to find the direct phone number for dealing directly with Optus over the phone Ao Live Chat is there option to deal with issues.
30 mins later, I was still typing comments in order to get an answer on a simple billing issue that could have been answered in 2 minutes. Even if I had been left on hold, I would have received a quicker answer rather than typing simple answers. It is not working Optus, fix it please!
Pretty Darn Happy
Okay I've been with optus my whole life and nothing's ever gone wrong (with plan, payment)! I recently got a new phone plan which took a while to process due to high demand and some calls which did take a while to connect to a sales person but the people from optus have been so DARN NICE AND HELPFUL, answering all of my questions and constantly apologising for any inconveniences! If only I grabbed his name but an employee in particular was so lovely over the phone and even made a conversation with me not about my issue... Which was absolutely great & and made me happy to choose optus even more :) Overall pretty good customer service but only downside is it takes a while to be connected to someone if your calling optus customer service.
I have been with optus many years. I think optus is tge only company had been with. In these years never had an issue till recently. I had to upgrade my plan due to some phone issues so had to pay out of my contract. This was fine i had no issues. I was in store when i said i will make the payment that was needed occurd by the early canlation fee $300. The guys in store rang up and organised it all that was fine decided on looking at new plans i would rid my wifi as i would gst more data on my phone plan then combining the 2 for a simalar...price. The store understood i just wanted to cancel my wifi i had. Billing refused that this was my answer and the store tried to argue out for me that was what i wanted. I got put on billing as they refused to believe the store. Yet i had to argue with them to get it canceled as billing wanted me to gidt it to someone i knew. Took awile for billing to decide that really was my answer. So all good now. A couple of months later i relised that my bill was ridiculous high. Chatted with them to discover that it was the 300 payment that had been split over 3 months. Argued with them that it had been paid they said they see it but that it was not put threw as that payment. Got put onto the manger same argument but told ok yes we now see the payment u will be fixed accordingly. Told i would receive a new bill. 2 weeks later same proccess. But this time lefg it a week and re chatted. Got a very apolgetic lady that admitted they were at fault and that it was not picked up earlier. She then apologiesed as she had no idea why they would re u just my bill and not just refund the 300 that was owing. So tgat is what happened. Optus is very good in the many years i have been with them this is my only problem. And received an apology and issue fixed.
Customer service is great.
I have an Optus pocket wifi. I find the coverage is adequate most of the time given the price of the service, and our home location. However I have to give Optus customer service 5 STARS. Today I called them because it appeared that I'd gone through a lot of data. It was asking me to recharge the card. I knew that I couldn't have gone through all my data. I rang them and they straight away were very helpful. I had my dates and times of use on my data usage app and immediately they reinstated all my data with an extra couple of GB thrown in for causing me some inconvenience. The lady I spoke to was SO helpful. She rang me a couple of times to make sure the extra data was showing on my app. Really helpful and very fair. I'm impressed.
So after being with other networks and lastly optus I must say I am surprised.
After my experience with other networks with either shotty service or bad coverage; it would seem optus has come to save the day.
I don't mind paying more for quality and that's why I started with a more expensive carrier but after my contract ran out and pretty much every telco having bad reviews I just decided to try all of the major ones.
After enough time it was clear that optus has great coverage even on the east coast of Tasmania where some can't of...fer coverage and some do offer it but it doesn't feel as fast. With regular upgrades to the network, many complain about this but I think it's a must to maintain a high quality mobile network. Because of the experience I had, I signed up for a new plan with optus with the s6 edge and I haven't looked back. Since joining the coverage map has expanded and they are adding more and more which these other networks aren't even doing as extensively.
Not perfect but not bad at all, Optus
I was an Optus mobile customer back in 2006/2007 and subsequently left as I signed up with other providers. Recently signed up for their $50 unlimited call and text plan with 8gb data and so far, so good. A few hiccups in terms of delays in hearing back from them and in getting the sim, but got the issues sorted out using the live chat service. Keep it up Optus.
Really good service
I have now been with Optus for around 5 years and I continue to be really happy with their service.
Recently I got the run around with Telstra about getting internet for my new apartment. I went to Optus and it took them less than 20 minutes to set me up with a mobile wifi that not only met my data needs and was cheaper than Telstra, but they linked it with my phone account and got it even cheaper.
Their staff are unfailingly polite and helpful, and I have no problems with the service.
Prepaid is Fair enough and postpaid is a trap if you choose the wrong plan for your usage pattern
I use Optus prepaid $2 days so it costs me $60 a month for unlimited calls and sms and unlimited data. The unlimited data plan is no longer available for new accounts. For the most part it works well but when school kids are out for lunch and just after school finishes I notice that the data slows down. The connection to the tower is still strong but the download slows so I presume there is congestion. If that were not the case I would have given an extra star and if 4G were available where I live then I would have given 5 stars. I recently pho...ned with a technical enquiry and was given the automated option of receiving a call back rather than hold on. I took that option and received the call back and it is a wonderful way to get back to customers without leaving them on hold. I see many people complaining about Telcos ripping them off with data charges and call charges and they are mostly on postpaid plans - honestly people - bring your own phone and go on $2 days prepaid and you will never be billed for excess. I personally know people who have demonstrated incredible naivety, stupidity and insouciance with regard to phone contracts who make long calls and download excessive data for their telco plans and so get charged excess fees - that is what they signed up for and then they come on a review forum such as this bleating about being ripped off when in fact the problem is they chose the wrong plan for their usage pattern and agreed to the contract. It is not the telcos fault that these people are stupid. They probably watched too much TV when youngsters instead of doing homework and exercising their minds to be able to evaluate product offerings.
Excellent service and extremely helpful managers
I am very impressed by the change in optus customer service over these couple of weeks. I am in Melbourne and cracked my iphone 5 screen early June (by dropping it- accidentally) and my 24 month contract was only due in 6 months time.
The first young optus customer rep told me over the phone that I had to pay approximately $600 for early termination. And my only option was to send my phone away for 2 business days and then claim insurance. This will be the standard 2 weeks process. I was leaving the country that night for 2 weeks and ne...eded a replacement urgently. I had a good mine of leaving this service provider when my contract was up. I then asked to speak to her manager in WA who turned out to be a tremendously helpful person. She organised for a convenient store location and time for me to pick up an updated and the latest model, iphone 5s with no additional charge. This, the above, is modern day ultimate customer experience. Thank you, optus. Reliable and genuinely human and helpful. Nothing wrong with them; just need to speak with the experienced managers who actually make the difference.
Not perfect, but been rather happy over the years.
Been with Optus since 1999 bar a couple of short stints with Vodafone and Telstra. Mostly positive, the only real gripe I've had is excessive congestion on their UMTS network due to lack of capacity relative to subscriber base, in short poor data speeds. Especially noticeable in major population centres such as Brisbane and mainly Toowoomba. Reception and voice call ability is normally quite good, and in the past few years even places as obscure as Wallumbilla have been switched on. No issue with dropouts either. More expensive than Vodafone bu...t nowhere near that of Telstra. Had one significant issue with the network that manifested intermittently, fortunately I was bounced to a level 3 NoC tech that was able to eventually pinpoint the issue. Kept me informed the whole time which was a nice touch. Affordable. Decent coverage. Just works. Consistently poor data speeds.
I only have a mobile with them and have for sometime now.
Reception is not the best I have too admit, I have been well looked after.
I told optus sometime ago that I don't want to be contacted again by their telemarketing team (They used to call up sometimes too see if I was still happy with their network and offer ad-ons) and since that call, not one call from optus or telemarketing...
Not once had any problems and if I need to talk to optus about my account, I use their online chat system which I find is 100% better than calling up. ...The reason for 4 stars in the reception could be improved (I have heard that they are improving reception), but apart from that, I am a happy camper... Unlimited social networking is the biggest bonus... Thank you optus for being good too me...
Optus extremely frustrating
I purchased an I phone 4 on a contract with Optus about 5 months ago, my main need for the phone was Internet usage. So far it has been extremely dismal, my phone is unused all day and the Internet is only used for about an hour a night, the Internet has not worked properly since I got the phone, I understand it will have glitches from time to time, but what I've experienced is ridiculous, the internet is always either EXTREMELY slow or just doesn't work all together and it does this more times than not, so the Internet can't be relied upon. I ...had a laptop computer with USB broadband Internet and it was full of viruses and the Internet was extremely troublesome, I then purchased an Optus plan IPhone thinking the Internet would be more reliable but from what I've experienced lately the internet's become worse than the virus filled laptop. My advice, check Internet coverage, reliability and speed before you sign up for a phone. Update: Several months ago I made a review about Optus and its poor reception and network coverage especially regarding the Internet on my contract iPhone 4. Shortly after the original review I made I got in touch with Optus informing them of my problems with my phone, their response to this issue has been great, they informed me that I was in a black spot area for network coverage and gave me 2 options: they would release me from my contract with no charge or fees, or give me a monthly discount on my monthly repayments, I chose to stick with them and receive the monthly discount. My reception and internet still drops out at times but nothings perfect. I have rarely experienced long waits on the phone to them during this resolution process. They even phoned me a few days after I spoke to them on the phone to ask if I was still happy with their resolution. Throughout the process I spoke to numerous people from Optus and they were all friendly and nice to speak to. i can't say whether everyone has had a good experience with Optus, I thought its only fair to state that in my case Optus has done their best to resolve my problem. can be very versatile at times Extremely poor internet
Worst of the worst never join Optus
I want my voice to be heard. This company ridiculously ignores customer complaint. There sales team sold me a plan over the phone giving false information and when I got the $300 dollar bill I refuse to pay and told them your sales team gave me false information but they didn't did anything instead they put me through credit recovery agency and after paying the settlement amount they put me as credit defaulter. I tried so many time to remove my name , even to my hardship and emergency need my loan will not be approved until 2014 that's when my credit default expires . So don't go with Optus they are after your money customer service bull [censored word removed].
Great Deals On Optus Social
Great Service worth Your Money But Phone Service Is Had To Understand What They Are Saying The Phone A Bit Dear to buy but still good to get a $2 Sim Also There Tower Was Out And Got fixed The Next Day When Telstra Exchanged Had A Fire The Tower Were Still Working
Cheap Great Deals
Have had an Optus mobile for almost 15 years. We now live in regional Australia, and though Telstra reception is wider ranging, we will stay with Optus as their service and support is excellent. Unfortunately Optus do not offer landline and home broadband service in our area. When they do, we will likely connect.
Helpul staff over the phone or at sales office.
Unable to connect land line and broadband with Optus, Regional coverage.
Yes Optus, Yes service :)
The Optus stores I have dealt with (Kippa Ring QLD and Perth City) have both been great in terms of knowledge and customer service. There was little I could say to fault them except perhaps it was very time consuming. The service providers made me feel comfortable and welcome within the stores.
Customer Service & Product Knowledge
Love my Optus
I have been with Optus mobile for over 10 years and have very little to complain about except for long on-holds with Optus. My work has taken me to the 4 corners of Australia many many times and I don't re-call any network coverage problems in any capital cities. I think this website encourages people to complain - you rarely hear satisfied people speak up.
good value, reasonable service, good coverage around Australia
long on holds when talking to Optus
My best move. Ever.
I moved to Optus after problems with a previous carrier.
This was a great move, the reception is decent, except for the support. It is a bit of a muddle going through support... otherwise, it was fantastic.
I have reception inside my house? I find that weird, I didn't get that with Vodaphone.
I also get reception inside shopping centers - Macarthur Square as an example.
Inexpensive, Great reception
The phone support is confusing
I have been with Optus since 2003. Both Prepaid and post paid. I would only consider moving providers to get more coverage in regional areas.
I have only received 'telemarketing' calls to my mobile service once.
I get unlimited calls for about $120 a month. Only 1300 numbers aren't included but I hardly make those calls.
I have needed to contact billing departments, and technical support once or twice, and the operators are patient, understanding, polite and explains in detail my issues and rectify them straight away.
Overall the only i...
I really like optus and have used them for years now. For some reason they get the best coverage in our area. I always get better coverage around here than my husband and son do on their telstra phones. I just wish I'd thought ahead enough to ensure they got optus as well as I've heard that they do good rates between phones etc.
Best coverage in our area. Great plans. Love that I can call any landline for 25 cents for first five minutes. Good customer service.
Wish I'd got the whole family to get optus to make phoning them cheaper.
Good Service The cheapest pre paid deal ever
I live in the sydney metro and my wife and I were with Vodafone, we had nothing but trouble then I saw the dollar days on optus prepaid and for $3 a day you get unlimited phone calls to land lines mobile phones including Telstra and Vodafone and unlimited data for only $3 a day and if you use it every day between Mon to Fri you get the weekends for free so it works out to be $64 a month. no catches (Pre Paid) and if you recharge online you get an extra 10% so you could say it works out to be $59.00 a month unlimited (beats any billed service). ...I wish Telstra would have a plan like this as Optus doesn't work very well in Port Macquarie/Wauchope which I visit regulary. However they are too cheap to go with anyone else. Check out Oputs dollar days on their website www.optus.com.au (3G average but bearable at least 50% better than vodafone) Reliable in Sydney Cheap pre paid dollar days!!! Check it out doesn't work very well in port macquaire and wauchope. 3G Average but bearable, 50% better than vodafone
