Excellent product, licks my entire pool in one and half cycle, large leaves, sand, gets the lot. works for less then 5 cent per hour, relentless, diligent, no tea brakes, no sick leave, just doing perfect job
Great when it works...
I have a 50000 ltr pool and bought a cx20 in 2016. Worked perfectly for a period of time, picks up all the leaves that get in it's way. So much easier than manually vacuuming. About 18 months in I ran into some issues where it just stopped with LED error lights. Under warranty, they replaced/fixed the control box and checked over the whole machine. Zodiac were really supportive.
The thing worked flawlessly for the next 18 months apart from the tracks dropping off which was a minor annoyance as it still seemed to clean the pool effective...ly. Makes life so much easier for me with 2 big trees in the yard, so this thing is a life saver. Then things went a bit sour again in late 2019. The whole thing packed up. Just stopped working with no LED error indicator. I took it to a local shop and they did an assessment and said the motor unit was filled with (salt) water and I needed to replace the motor. I couldn't afford to spend $400 plus labour getting it fixed, nor could I afford $1500 for a different/new cleaner. Recently I had enough money and bought a new motor and had it fitted. Not 2 weeks later I am back at square 1 with the machine just stopping without any LED error lights. I haven't had it looked at yet, but reading here, I wonder whether it's worth burning more of my 'hard earned' keeping this thing alive. Really hurts to see that $400+ just go down the drain. :(

Bought 2 units and had issues every year for 4 years!
When I purchased my initial unit it worked great and my pool was always spotless. After 12 months I had issues and sent it back under warranty to be repaired. It worked fine for another 12 months and then failed but this time it wasnt under warranty and I made the decision to buy another so I had spare parts. 12 months from the new purchase and I had issues again and sent it back for repair under warranty. It was fixed and again it failed 12 months later a few weeks out of warranty. I'm not sure what the issues were but there is obviously something wrong with these units that fail almost exactly 12 months from start-up. I wont be buying anymore of these units as its been an expensive and painful process!

A terrible Experience! Poorly made product that has barely ever worked with no customer service at all!! Buyer beware!
So frustrating! When it works it's been a godsend, dealing with the gum leaves and gum tree seeds that regularly blow into the pool. However, it's been one issue after another! Under a year into ownership (from new and including a long idle NZ winter) it just ceased to function. I got in touch with the Australian company I bought it from and had to pay hundreds of dollars to send it back to them to be fixed. It came back, worked well for a couple of months then it stopped again. I had the cable replaced. It ran a few more times and has now stop...ped working again! I'm so annoyed and feel completely ripped off by such a terrible product and experience. Frankly I'm amazed that they are allowed to sell such a poorly created product. In the 2 years I have owned it it has run less than 50 times but now this hugely expensive purchase is going in the bin - the only place where it won't keep costing me money and causing me stress!! Buyers beware! UPDATE- November 19. Although asked for my details by Zodiac, still no contact after 8 months even though I chased them! This really has been such a bad experience. UPDATE 2 - still nothing on this. I have to assume they wanted the warranty to run out! Shocking customer service and product. UPDATE 3 - now the end of summer and still no progress. I’m appalled at how bad this customer service is!
Machine was good, Product warranty and Support is bad
We purchased the Zodiac CX20 online for about $800 in Oct 2016. It worked great for 2 years, then less than 1 month outside of warranty it started failing. Support was difficult and would not replace it, they said it wasn't faulty and would only deal with "Plationum Partners". So we had to deal with their "Platinum Partner" who charged us $75 - it took over 1 month of negotiating to get them to send it to Zodiac. Then wanted to charge us more for sending it to Zodiac via courier!!
Zodiac claimed it was working fine, and sent it back, washed the...

Loved our cx20 however the fact that when things go wrong with the unit parts are soo expensive. The motor has gone on ours and will cost over $700 to repair when the unit only cost us $800 new. Also do not like that Zodiac have now only made this unit available online at a premium price where there is limited warranty.

Better than cleaners that cost four times the amount, but fragile.
Before we got our CX20 for $850AUD, we had a dolphin that cost $3,200. It had fifty fancy features on its wireless remote, four ridiculous paper filters that filled with dirt in about 5 minutes which were made of flimsy plastic that broke in the first 2 months and a caddy that took up half the shed to move it since it weighted an absolute ton.
For 1/4 of the price, the CX20 is hands-down the better cleaner. The large capacity plastic basket is a dream to use, the no-frills design means it's light & easy to carry, and it does a great job of cle...aning our pool. Zodiac fixed our control unit under warranty when it failed due to rainwater incursion, despite this being arguably a failure due to misuse (do not leave the control unit in the rain. It is not as waterproof as it looks). I'm very pleased with the Zodiac after-sales support. We just had it fixed again (in year 3) due to an issue with the cable - again, most likely due to children playing with the cleaner/cable while it's in the pool doing its job. (about a $250 repair at the pool shop) Reviewing what's on offer in the market now, when this CX20 eventually wears out, I would replace it in a heartbeat with another CX20. Even though I have had to fix it a couple of times, I'm still well below the price of most competing pool cleaners; and as I said - this one is as good as the best of them. Having had a fancy cleaner that you could drive around your pool, or choose from 20 different cleaning cycles - I can tell you it's all useless features for the sake of profit. If you want a robotic cleaner that just cleans the pool - with the choice of focusing on the floor of your pool, or doing the whole pool including walls, waterline and steps... well, the CX20 is hard to beat.

Better options out there
I've had the same problems as some people on here have reported. The cleaner just stops, error flashing on the control unit. Do everything as the manual says to do (troubleshooting) still to no avail.
Rang Zodiac and they told me they do no handle customers and to seek your local pool/service centre. What a waste of time.
You'd think that the company would care about its product and its customer base in regards to fixing problems. They don't.
On top of that, their website fails to locate a local dealer (within the Sydney region). Which they say to go to and locate, terrible.

Rubber Track Coming off
Have had this robot since 2017, overall satisfied with performance. Recently one of the rubber tracks has been coming off every time I run the robot. Zodiac, what is the solution? Please advise.

Great cleaner that breaks quickly
We brought this cleaner back in January 2016 and it worked perfectly for fourteen months and then the info light came on and it wouldn't do anything. We returned it to Zodiac and they fixed it under warranty. The light came on again last week and when I phoned Zodiac they said that the repair was Over a year ago and so was was not covered by them. I would expect a product that costs $1000 plus, and is used only twice a week in the Sydney swimming season to last a bit longer than just over three years. If only Dyson made pool cleaners!!

Bad experience with zodiac aftersales
My cx20 has only done 300 hours and has died. I called zodiac and they suggested my two local pool shops (neither of whom sell zodiac pool cleaners or know anything about them) are my local representatives! $110 for the privilege of having them courier the robotic cleaner, 20mins down the road, then I’m told the product needs $700 worth of a new motor! ($1100 to buy new!) I called zodiac who basically said ‘yeah, bummer dude!’ You’ll have to speak to the pool company who sent it to us. The zodia person wasn’t ‘allowed’ to talk price and couldn’...t let me talk to anyone who could! Apparently money is something I need to talk to the representative about... so I did... apparently that’s what zodiac charges... talk about the being given the run around!!

Was skeptical, but am now convinced!
I was recommended a robotic cleaner by the pool maintenance fellow yet was shocked at the price and not convinced on their ability. After reading many positive reviews on the Cx20 I decided to purchase. I am mesmerised by what it can achieve. It cleans all surfaces of our 12m x 8m pool no problems. Very satisfied.
December 18th 2019 Update: Great value for money robot
I have recently purchased a second CX20 after the first failed after 3 years. They are a fantastic cleaner for the money and after looking at a few options we decided to buy ano...ther cx20. When we were researching we learned that the cx20 generally is built to have a lifespan of 2 to 2.5 years dependant on use. We also found that running it on the wall climbing setting regularly is said to reduce it's lifespan. Ours failed due to the cord becoming detached from the internal motor and unable to be fixed (other persons mishandling robot) Just a few things to consider when buying but overall very pleased with it.

Questions & Answers
Tracks are coming off. Is there a way to re tension the wheels as I am thinking this could be the problem. If not, what can I do about the track coming off?
The light flashes 3 times, turn on to run and goes 1 meter then stops. Filter is clean.
I have been in the pool inductry over 30 years.
One of my clients has a Zodiac CX20 Robotic pool cleaner.
It was not my brand of choice, nor did I recommend it or sell it to my client.
Over its 3 year life, It has been repaired once, unfortunately it was within its 2 year warranty however Zodiac deemed it was not a warranty repair & it cost my client over $400.00, They were not happy.
The cleaner has again been playing up. After calling Zodiac, they have simply advised that the product is out of warranty & they can no longer repair it (unless it is in Warranty).
They referred me to another company to get it repaired.
I rang the other company who simply advised they do not repair Zodiac Robotic pool cleaners. Back to Square 1.
Frustration setting in for my client & myself.
I'm in the pool industry. What hope has any other poor customer got.
The service is unacceptable.
