Hidden cost

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 17, 2018

I paid for my deposits on one base price which I was shown and later was advised that the price of the house has increased and I will have to pay the higher price.
I have queried with Metricorn but have been told they cant change the price.
I find this is to be a deceiving act from Metricorn to show one price and later hit customers with new price.
Was told will receive contract in 3 weeks but it has been over 8 weeks and no contract.
Would never recommend anyone to Metricorn.

(Metricon Site Manager) - 5 Stars, Metricon Office - Terrible

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 15, 2018

I simply dont know how to start this review, however suffice to say that if it wasn't for Site Manager and Our continual involvement in the build of the house, we would have a totally different home to what we had purchased in our Contract and Colour Studio Additions. The only item correct without a required change was the Glass Splashback in the Kitchen. Yes, that is correct! A Horrible build process with paramount stress!

It is impossible to summarise this build. My advice is to make sure you have everything in writing, take photos of the items you have chosen in the Colour Studio, triple check your contract and make sure, all the colour studio additions are in the final contract, and make sure the drafting plans show exactly your final house plan. Pay particular attention to windows and doors. This unfortunately is only 10% of the checking process. The last 90% is for you to prey and hope that you will have the house built accordingly.

Although the whole Metricon Head Office and Management Team need a MASSIVE restructure, many of the Metricon contracting trades do not act professionally and cause many of the build issues.

Make sure you have the ability to walk through the house each week with your Site Manager to check EVERYTHING........and i mean EVERYTHING!

TRUTH LIES IN BAD REVIEWS - Biggest mistake to build with Metricon - Fears came true

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 15, 2018

Just 6 months ago - I was reading all the good and bad reviews about Metricon and raised this concern with our Sales rep but she assured as at every step Metricon is renowned builder and you will have no issues. Well inspite of all the bad reviews we read and heard from other people we still went with Metricon as we fell in Love with their display homes which are only built to lure people. While we have spent around $613k on our home as Metricon being one of the expensive builders and we were hoping to get our magnificent house built- It started going downhill from the second month in construction when we saw our staircase is not being built as per the design we selected from one of their display homes for which we sent the photos to make sure our requirements are clear. But the staircase is nowhere close to what we asked for and we were told that it is being built as per contract and variation. Now this is the most scary part how Metricon gets to sign you the contract without providing much information. When we went for color selection at studio M we only selected the color of the staircase as per the display home design and we were asked to sign entire color selection in 10 mins which we did. Later on a variation comes in changing the wordings of the staircase to which we questioned that what does this new wordings mean as we are not building experts and do not understand the jargon that is being used. We specifically asked for any photos or design to make sure we are getting what we paid for and did I TELL YOU THAT WE PAID EXTRA 13.6K for this staircase upgrade. The only reply we got was these wordings are changed to ensure what you selected at studio M and hence we thought that we only selected the color and no where in our wildest dreams we ever talk about changing any design- it should be fine and we signed the contract. Now after sending multiple emails the response we got from building manager that the staircase will not be changed- THIS IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL.

Not only this the workmanship and quality is a big concern too- we found some water leak on our upper floor to which we were told that it will be fixed. But 10 days later we found a bigger water leak in two bedrooms and leisure area upstairs and am talking about massive leak where water was stagnant on the floor covering half of the bedroom. When we raised this issue, the construction manager and site manager responded that it can happen and easily fixed by changing the architraves and skirting and removing the tapes in the corners and put a new one. What about the plasterboard?? Doesn't that get damage and needs changing but they coldly said NO to that. We are EXTREMELY UNHAPPY and DISAPPOINTED the way Metricon has dealt with us and not helping us at all in providing any resolution.
We now have to deal with QBCC and QCAT to resolve the issue - Who will pay for all the stress we are undergoing right now. Save yourself from Metricon.

!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM METRICON otherwise they will rip you of your hard-earned money....

A sales and marketing company that DO NOT deliver on quality

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 15, 2018

A terrible build and almost a year later, we are still trying to have defective and outstanding items fixed and finished. If we had our time again, we WOULD NOT BUILD WITH METRICON! They are honestly so terrible to deal with. There is no customer care during or post-construction. We paid large amounts of money for upgraded items like Shadowline ceiling instead of cornices. The timbers were bowed and not straightened and now we are left with a poor quality result. They were happy to take our money though did not deliver on quality. Do not believe them when they say they have "stringent quality assurance" they have their own representatives come in an sign off on quality while our own inspection reports states their work to be defective. Go to a home building company that actually care about delivering a quality product at the end of the build.

Terrible pre construction experience

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 10, 2018

Had a terrible preconstruction experience. The consultant allocated for studioM appointment is a dud as she missed out more than 50 percent of upgrades or items. We finished our appointment in less than 2 hours which should usually take more than 3 hours if everything is covered. As a first home buyers, we are unaware of most of the things. By the time we realised that we missed out something, Metricon never helped or supported us for the changes only because they need to work hard. I was told i need to pay penalty if i change anything and i was ready for that too. They sent me all the quotes for the changes including penalty rates but the very next day morning they changed their mind and said they are not ready to make any changes as it takes 4 weeks.
Anyway, its our bad luck to go with Metricon. Will write an other review after construction is complete.

No follow up calls. Poor customer service

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 10, 2018

I have been really disappointed with the service that have been provided by my supervisor. No follow up calls. They told us initially you will be getting weekly update calls from your supervisor which never happened. They messed up my mirror orders and now the house is getting delayed. I will not be putting up with this service anymore. Someone needs to follow up asap for me.
I don't get how hard it is to give someone a phone call and let them know what is happening at the site. Will never recommend Metricon to anyone.

This is an ongoing TERRIBLE experience!!!!

1 out of 5, reviewed on Oct 01, 2018

This build for us has been a terrible experience, and unfortunately still an ongoing saga in our lives. We never hear from our site manager, we are constantly chasing for updates on build progress, our build has sat idle now for 3 months (since July) with little to no activity, and what has been done has been extremely poor workmanship and now has to be pulled apart and redone. Our practical completion date has come and gone, we signed our building contract in July 2017, we are about to enter October 2018 and this nightmare continues, another week has now passed with little to no activity once again. They are struggling to manage their tradesman, and there is no supervision and the project management is disgusting. We have written numerous emails of complaint and not one email has been responded to, however there have been many promises to do so. We honestly couldn't recommend Metricon to anybody, it's become an embarrassment as our street and neighbours are constantly asking why has our home been sitting there with no activity for months on end!

Worst Builder. No Warranty.

1 out of 5, reviewed on Sep 24, 2018

We had a very bad experience with this builder. Building process was finished in December 2016. Our building supervisor has handed over the key and advised that few left over items (atleast 15 item) would be fixed after Christmas 2016 and they have not been fixed till this date. Contacted Warranty people hundreds of times and always appointing a new warranty supervisor and then no further follow up. Few trades came out to have look however no further actions were taken and If something was fixed, it had been left unfinished. So here we are after spending $612000 on construction, without proper render finish, leaking gutter, the bathroom door that gets stuck, with terrible wobbly floor upstair, uneven window frames and many more. Poor construction and very rude building supervisor. I am going to take it to take legal actions against them for sure.

Most of the reviews written here are dodgy. Metricon is complete rip off. Please stay away.

Worst experience! Terrible service

1 out of 5, reviewed on Sep 20, 2018

This has been one of the worst, most disorganised, poorly communicated projects we have had the displeasure of being involved with (and paying significant money for). There have been delays and poor communication from the our initial meetings with the sales consultant all the way through the design and plan phase. We were hopeful that once the build commenced that things would be back on track and go to plan - how wrong we were! the poor level of service, lack of communication and lack of accountability has just continued from there. We are now over three months into the build and currently onto our 4th site manager! Each time a site manager left the build we receive no communication as to why they have left, the plans to minimise the impact and the only correspondence we get is a letter from our so called customer service rep that we have a new site manager, with no other information. When we query as to the reasons the person left, and why we are having to deal with a new site manager on a monthly basis, the response we get back is 'these things happen, talk to your new site manager', there was no communication from the old site manager, the service rep or anyone to explain whats happening. Other reviews on here seem to indicate people receive updates on a weekly basis, i assume these reviews are either fake or from a different company. Despite being assured that we would receive weekly updates, in over 3 months of build we have not received a single proactive update, we have to constantly chase up to find out whats going on. Given all the site manager changes the build has been very delayed and we have little confidence it will be completed on time. We have had to hire an independent project manager (at additional cost) to oversee the job as we don't have the time to constantly chase up or trust the quality of workmanship. Our project manager has picked up a number of major defects with the build that should have been picked up by metricon but weren't and to date we still haven't received confirmation of them being addressed. I feel that if we hadn't picked these up and raised them, they would have never been addressed. There seems to be no accountability on the part of metricon to ensure the build is well managed, updates and communication is almost non existent, workmanship to date has been delayed and major defects go unnoticed or ignored until they are raised by us (even then they still haven't been actioned or rectified). I've built before with an independent builder in Canberra and had a wonderful experience, the metricon experience, not so much...

After completion services

1 out of 5, reviewed on Sep 12, 2018

Completed our build in April and whilst in construction we were reassured items would be right by the finish we have damaged render and moulding, gaps where there is no coverage, crack on the garage wall. Inside the finishing let’s them down with undersized architraves patched with silicon, carpet that when you vacuum lifts off the floor nicks off paint in both woodwork and spills on tiles of grout and paint. Even the staircase paint had flaked off. But what really let them down is much of this was raised from December pre completion and has been well documented with pictures in the log in service portal. Even the supervisor has emailed photos to contractors to return and fix some of them since April - still not done. Since then it has been a game of pass the parcel with very slow service responses and a list of outstanding issues that are nothing short of embarrassing in the nature and length. Everyone wants to say they feel for you which becomes a game of deferral and then claims of disallowance. Photos to to follow on line and FB And not far from the legal process either. Shameful.

Metricon supplied ducted air conditioning that doesn't fit the house size, and claim it's suitable!

1 out of 5, reviewed on Sep 03, 2018

I am extremely disappointed, I have been supplied a ducted air conditioning unit that didn't fit the purpose/size of my house.

I spent over $500K for the house and I would have thought I would have been supplied a unit that would cool my house, a very basic requirement.

The sales guy made me signed the deposit on that day, stating if I do I will get a ducted air unit for my double storey house as a bonus to the package. So, I signed away a house and land package on that day, later I spent over $200K on upgrades, obviously I wasn’t shy of including all the quality items to my house. Went to the electrical consultant appointment as per scheduled and I was advised the unit that was supplied in my initial contract I DO NO NEED TO UPGRADE as it will fit the purpose of my house, it will cool and warm my house. I only needed to add an extra zone for more controls. I followed the advice.

I lived passed Sydney's summer and it was terrible, even with all the windows and doors closed. I had checked with two independent air cond companies and they have confirmed the unit installed was too small (it was the size of a single storey home). I have been to fair trading and they state I have a case. I have even offered to pay 50% to Metricon if they are willing to replace it will a unit that is bigger and would fit my house’s requirement as I really want to move on and enjoy the house as per Metricon’s advertisement. I just want this to end!

Basically, Metricon refused all responsibilities as they keep stating that the unit supplied is nothing wrong, it should still cool my house.

We have an almost 40sq homes, 5 bedrooms double storey house and even with only 2 people staying downstairs & no cooking we were sweating. How is this acceptable? I have relied on the expertise's advice of Metricon consultant, so I didn’t upgrade. I would have upgraded at the time for a much smaller cost if they have told me a bigger unit was needed it. I feel very upset with this matter. Tried to raise the matter via my site supervisor but management said a cold NO!. It leaves me no choice but to go further via the Fair Trading’s recommendations.

I cannot believe that such a big company like this wouldn’t try to assist me in anyway but want to charge me an extra $14K for the correct unit, a small fee for the upgrade I can understand but for the full replacement cost I believe it’s totally unjust to me who have spent so much already with the builder! Not to mention all the other issues I had, but this one really bothers me enough that makes me tell all my families and friends not to build with Metricon ever! Extremely disappointed by this outcome.

No service after built!

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 30, 2018

Frankly speaking, before and during construction metricon was doing a OK job.

But after it's built and all money were paid to metricon, their service was nearly also coming to standstill.

All three toilet water boxes in the house are broken since the day I got the key, and I have logged the issues on website for months but for that particular issue - the only thing metricon did was sending [name removed] (a metricon tech guy) to my house, took pictures and wrote down the issue on his notepad. After that I have been emailing him and [email removed] (from Service and Warranty Qualifier team) numerous times, but [email removed] kept on referring me back to ServiceandWarrantyMelbourne@metricon.com.au.

The toilet boxes issue was logged online many weeks and it's [name removed] responsibility to fix this before entering the Service Warranty phase.
Very disappointed with the way [name removed] was handling the case. As a member of Service and Warranty Scheduler/Qualifier team, why couldn't her forward my concern to her colleagues?

Why would I need to logged the issue online, then again with Service and Warranty Qualifier team, then again ServiceandWarrantyMelbourne@metricon.com.au ? Why would I need to repeat my concern over and over and over again, while all three toilet water boxes are leaking for months?

October 16th 2018 Update: Faulty toilet units

A plumber came over last week and "fixing" the broken toilets. Guess what? It stopped working again!! I asked the plumber to replace the faulty unit, he refused. Then I texted and emailed [name removed] from Metricon for assistance. Didn't hear anything from [name removed]!Everyone agreed that it's a faulty unit from Recees, WHY NOT REPLACE IT??? The plumber has come over three times already but still not fixing the problem!!

“Love where you live” until there is a problem and Metricon will do their best to make it hell

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 27, 2018

Extremely disappointed with Metricon and it’s warranty service.

After being hand passed from one caller to another and leaving numerous messages over the past month, we have still not had any resolution to a water leak issue.

Metricon sent out a plumber to investigate a water leak at the front of the house however, investigations were ceased after they received a report from the plumbers based on the ‘assumption’ that the mains pipe must have been damaged by the landscaper as the backfill has sharp rocks. Plumber states they are unsure and need to gain access to underneath one of the pavers however, were told by Metricon to cease further investigations hence the cause of the leak has still not yet been identified.

Based on the assumption that the backfill from the building site (which would have been done when the pipes were initially laid) caused the leak, Metricon closed the file and shifted the blame onto the developer who were in charge of landscaping.

Multiple follow ups to the site manager requesting that he come on site to look at the issue and discuss this further and also a simple request of the floor plan of the plumbing to be emailed to us have been ignored. We have made numerous phone calls to the site manager but he did not answer his phone. We have also left messages on his voice mail asking for a call back and got nothing. Countless calls have also been made to Metricon head office’s number and got the same reply every single time. The person in charge or someone who can help us is not answering his/her phone, must be busy or in a meeting and will send through an internal message and someone will contact us within the next 24 to 48hrs.

To date it has been over 4 weeks and still no phone call from Metricon nor a response from the site supervisor.

No responsibility, no accountability and terrible customer service from Metricon warranty team who all want to wash their hands of this issue.

How can a reputable builder operate like this?

Love where you live until there is a problem with your house and Metricon will make it like hell where you live.
They will avoid your calls at all costs.

Untrustworthy and over charged, not happy!

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 21, 2018

Now where to begin...We had reviewed a few home builders to build a house but then came across Metricon. Now Metricon was always known to be expensive and a rip off and to stay away from but when we went to one of the display homes, we had simply fallen in love and had made up our minds to build with regardless of what we had been told about Metricon previously.

The sales person was really lovely and extremely helpful. She was always available and we would stay behind chatting for hours. She was very nice and due to services and honesty we received from her we decided to go ahead with Metricon. We paid a small deposit and went ahead with everything. We made it VERY clear to the sales consultant of exactly what we wanted.

Everything went ahead smoothly and we were extremely happy and filled with nothing but excitement. When we had gone in to sign our contract we were told we get a further $10,000 off to which you can spend at the studio M for upgrades as there was a promotion. We were stunned and didn’t realize and asked her about 10 times if she was sure to which she was adamant this was the case.

So, we had calculated everything and said to ourselves we have a budget of $10,000 to spend at our appointment. Now when we went to our 45min appointment we were told few items were not upgraded and was not added to our first variation. We had made it very clear to the consultant exactly what we wanted so don’t know why this was not added. We let it go and told her to add them in to which never happened.

We went to our tiles, studio and electrical appointment and was sent our 2nd variation and that’s when it all went downhill. We were told we do not get $10,000 off as this was already applied and the sales consultant had made a mistake. There were multiple double charges that should’ve been taken out as we had already been charged on variation 1. I Knew we were being ripped off so I had asked to see our sales consultant again in person to run over the charges. We spend good 2-3hrs with her and made a lot of changes including our entire tile selection. She advised she will speak to our PSM and have everything updated.

Firstly, she did not update anyone with the changes we wished to make and only found out a week before construction start date she didn’t even mention our new tiles selection. I sent her an email to no respond or explanation as to why she hadn’t told anyone about any of our changes and basically wasted our time.

Now back to being over charge I had wrote multiple emails to our PSM who would simply ignore my emails or say an updated variation is not available instead I will be forwarded what I already have. I spoke to your finance manager who said an updated variation is not available as I am paying in cash and can only send this if requested by a bank. I told him I still require one but did not hear back from him for 2 weeks. I asked my PSM to chase this up, now I have finally received a total variation to which the figure didn’t add up. I again emailed the PSM and demanded an updated detailed variation otherwise I will not release any further funds to them.

I once again was ignored, instead I got an email saying congratulations you are now ready for your home construction which starts in 2days. By this stage I am extremely frustrated and stressed as I wasn’t getting anywhere with Metricon. I Printed out all of the variations and did the calculations to find I am indeed being overcharged by approx. $15,300. I Sent another email with cost break down. I got an email back that they are very sorry and had discovered I have been overcharged by $10,000 and Metricon is working on improving this which means they must be doing this to a lot people.

I am extremely unhappy and wished I had gone with someone else who would’ve been more trustworthy, understanding and HELPFUL. I feel robbed and that my entire experience which should’ve been positive has gone out the window. Overall, I don't blame our PSM as she is doing what she is told and is new to the company therefore is still learning and has been nothing but wonderful. If we weren't paying cash then we may of not had a keen eye and overlooked at every single cost and most likely over paid Metricon as most people would.

I definitely would not recommend this incompetent, greedy, unprofessional and untrustworthy company to any of my family or friends.

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 14, 2018

We decided to build our second dream home as we are extending our family and had decided to go with Metricon. We chose to go with the Bentleigh 38 and were advised by the sales rep that if we did not pay our deposit by the specified date (which only gave us a couple of days to make up our minds on a life changing decision), our quote would expire and the Title Land Promotion ($5000) would not be valid. Due to this we paid our deposit early March and that's when it all went downhill with the pre-construction documents and colour & electrical selections, everything!!!.

We received a call from Studio M to book our colour selections (booked 22nd June) and electrical (booked 24th June) appointments, which we scheduled at end of June. Our CSC at the time, who did not even bother to call to introduce herself and if we had any questions or issues, we were able to contact her (she never picked up her phone when we called). Looked like a standard copy and paste email, We confirmed our final contract signing date (20th July). After what we felt like was a rushed and rude colour and electrical selection, we requested to change a couple of things including the facade which we requested on the 26th of June via email. When we finally received a response from the studio m consultants with updated quote, incorrect items were added and our new items were not, after advising them that they were still incorrect, there was no response at all from our CSC, colour, tiles, home comfort and electrical consultants but they were still asking for us to sign the wrong quotes. We made several calls, left a number of voice mails and emails, we were the ones chasing up for an update.

To our surprise, the CSC advised that the change to facade would be a variation to contract fee of $1500 as it was a structural change and they needed to change the plans (We never once saw DRAFT plans or a contract so how could they charge a fee to a contract that does not exist???), We mentioned several times to our CSC that our sales rep never mentioned or clearly explained to us that we were not allowed to change our facade and that he actually mentioned that we could change the facade and had several other facades to pick from at the Studio M appointment. We initially agreed to this fee and waited for a response for when it was approved.

After waiting almost 3 weeks to hear from our CSC for the façade approval changes which was approved on the 13th of July, we were advised that due our façade, colour selection and tiles changes and that their studio m consultants haven't responded back to us in time, we would need to re-schedule our final contract signing, which we did for the 17th of August.

Once again, after chasing up our CSC, colour and tiles consultant for the correct quotes so we could sign the documents, we received an email from our "New CSC" introducing herself and advising us that we will be charged a fee as there will be a delay in our build and we were the cause of that delay due to our changes and due to this Metricon could not start building within 180 days of us paying our deposit. This was the first we heard of "we need to start the build within 180 days of paying for the deposit". The new CSC advised that this was one of the conditions of the Titled Land Promotion and that it stated “Any jobs not ACC’d within 180 days of deposit will incur additional charges – 0.5% of base price per month”. When we signed the Title Land Promotion and paid the deposit, our sales rep did not even mention this to us and we did not know what ACC’d even stood for until we received the email from our new CSC. We heavily protested this fee we were being charged as we believe that we were not the cause of the delay which she responded back that our “Bentleigh 38” was a fast track which we never were made aware of or have any documents stating this. If Metricon consultants and CSC had answered their phones and responded to our emails in a timely manner, we still could have done our final contract signing on the 20th of July. It took them almost 3 weeks to approve a façade change and the consultants didn’t respond to us for 2-4 weeks!!! After several phone calls and our new CSC saying “if you don’t want to continue this project with us, you don’t have to”, we felt really let down, disappointed and appalled. This just showed to us that Metricon did not care about us, our build and our $350-$450K contract!! Great etiquette Metricon!!! After several emails with our CSC and sales rep, we wanted our case heard by the CSC manager.

After speaking with the CSC manager and raising our concerns and issues with her, she said she would review our case and provide an update. After reviewing our case (took her only 2 days) and after she spoke to their sales rep, even though we provided emails as proof that we did not cause the delays, Metricon would not waive the fees and that they were not at fault and we were the cause of the delays.

Our final contract signing is on the 17th of August and we have decided to continue with the signing but will pay under protest.

Since we have emails as proof and are not the cause of the delays, we have escalated our cases with FairTrade (DBDRV).

To conclude, the customer service, studio m consultants, CSCs, managers and sales consultants have been non-existent and never available when we called. The whole pre-construction phase has been worse than a nightmare, which has caused us unnecessary stress.

To all considering to build with Metricon: make sure you have everything in writing. Send follow up emails right after talking to your CSC, studio m consultants and your sales consultant as they will lie to save themselves from embarrassment due to their mistakes. Keep all emails as proof.

Taking long time to start site work

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 13, 2018

Metricon does not care about their customer after contract signed. I have signed my Contract in January and it's mid April but the developer approval is not completed. Metricon team is applying the developer approval without reading the developer design guide lines.

I am completely unhappy about the progress. I would not recommend to anyone as per my experience with Metricon yet.

Just finish our house

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 13, 2018

Our Metricon build has been one of the most disorganised and lengthy builds of all our four houses. They promise the earth but when it comes down to it are poor on delivery. There is not enough space to list the issues or time taken to rectify some but 11 months down the track our house is still not finished.
The customer service is almost non existant except for the invoicing (that is exceptional). I would hate to be holding my breath waiting for a return call.
Its amazing to see your new carpet and tiles installed before the completed carpentry, and then to see the walls repaired and the painting completed over the top.
The brick work is very average and the internal fix out required more filling than a rusty car.
Our homest advice at this point is give them a big miss.

Metri'con' - Extremely disappointing experience

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 09, 2018

I signed up to build with Metricon in April 2017 and finally after all the initial hiccups signed my building contract in Sep 2017. I was planning on building Glendale 41 in North West Sydney.

It has been almost a year and i am still struggling to finalise all variations due to incompetent admin staff who doesn't seem to understand simple things. I have escalated the matter to Operation Manager also it got slightly better however its no where near the level of service you expect from Australia top builder.

I have had issues ranging from incorrect contract, major mistakes in plans, incorrect variation pricing and various others. The sheer level of unprofessionalism is mid blowing.

One top of this 9 months after contract signing i was given a variation of $27k without any real explanation until i repeatedly ask for it several times and was told i have no choice but to sign it. I was cornered in and was not given any other options despite me asking various times. To be give a $27k bill on top of $500k+ i was already spending with Metricon is ridiculous.

I am worried that even before the build has started i am being asked to pay a massive $27k only god knows what would i may have been up for if i did continue with the build.

I had to cancel my building contract as i couldn't afford paying additional $27k. In the meantime i have already lost more than $20k in portage payments as my land registered last year in May and not to mention the emotional stress it puts you through.

Please stay away from Metricon if you can. I am taking the matter to Fair Trading to get a more feasible outcome as i was trying to be fair with Metricon and agreed to reimburse some costs which they had incurred on my file, however to make the matters worst they want to charge me builders margin on the costs.

What i don't understand is that on what basis are they even thinking about charging builders margin when the level of service is no where near acceptable.

So now the next steps for me is to take the matter legally and get every dollar back from my deposit.

More than happy to give any further details which may help anyone save themselves from the hassle i went through.

Refuse to refund our expression of interest payment

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 06, 2018

We’ve been lured by sales person to pay the EOI in order to catch the offer which he said almost expired. After understanding the process of building a house off plan, which we were not ready to commit. we decided to cancel our interest. Our request to get back our EOI money have been refused. We felt cheated. This is disgraceful in our opinion. We didn’t even decides any house plan what more to see any contract prepared for us when we cancelled our interest.

Worst experience

1 out of 5, reviewed on Aug 06, 2018

Signed initial contract last October and paid $1500, the First appointment was given to me on Feb,19 as Metricon said they are too busy. a total of three appointments and then a final contract signing one . each appointment was space by weeks and all during working days. I could not attend one and was told initially no worries we will change . on contact signing had extra charges coz i didn't meet my 180 days.
Was told they can't do anything about this and will have to pay. I told them not going ahead and they should refund my initial deposit, was told they will charge for soil test and will refund me rest. i agreed
they came back and said we have all these costs
Soil Report $506.83
Survey fees $225.50
Property Information $568.32
Preliminary Engineering $1465.09
Preliminary Footing design $180.79
Total cost $2946.53
I will be taking this to consumer court now. plus will be asking them to give me compensation of days I and my wife took off from work.

this is been worst experience with Metricon. and whatever they do now I won't be able to trust them again.

To top up things Metricon team came back to me that they will look into this and NO one came back to me through this product review as well. So, finally, after waiting for more than a week, I am publishing this review.

Also, now in process of taking this to Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV)
