Wonderful Experience with Little Hiccups

It has been wonderful building with Metricon. Sales experience was great with [name removed], documentation hiccup spoiled the experience but Site Manager, [name removed]'s continuous support, prompt responses and regular updates put all the worries at ease. I would however, wish that Metricon provide a bit more notice in regards to payment requests at every stage though. Got our keys today and look forward to living in this beautiful home.

House completed but sits unoccupied while

A Metricon house was built in quick time. However it has sat unoccupied for three weeks while certificates, etc. were chased up. Currently waiting for rock excavation cost. Rock excavation was done at start of building not at the end. Currently having to move from AirBNB to AirBNB with a fully finished house sitting empty. Can't make final payment because Metricon does not know what it is even after three weeks since last retention plumbing completed.

Workmanship and quality was good. Site supervisor is excellent. Customer service and support was reasonably ok despite having some occasional hiccups. Sales representative was a great person with nice skills. I didn't have to wander shops by shops searching for different things as in their studio M they offer a one stop one day shopping experience for the entire house build which was an easy process for me as a first home builder

Absolutely Amazing Experience!

We are building the Doulton 56 Classic and it has been an absolutely amazing experience. This is mainly thanks to our outstanding Building Supervisor [name removed].

It has only taken 4 months to complete the build and we are just a few weeks away from handover!
The quality of the build is to such a high standard and the end product looks absolutely stunning.

[name removed] has been an exceptional Supervisor and we will definitely build again with Metricon based on the services he has provided. He provided us with weekly updates, kept us in the loop throughout everything, he is always one call away and was able to accommodate our every request, he has really gone above and beyond what is expected of a project manager. He has truly made this process extremely stress-free, enjoyable and memorable.
A lot of my work colleagues are tradesman and I've been updating them with the build and even they are extremely impressed by how efficient Metricon have been.

My husband and I are beyond satisfied with Metricon's professionalism and customer service.
Even when we have had minor issues they have been very quick to resolve them.
Every member in the team that we have dealt with throughout the process has provided great customer care. We cannot wait to move into our beautiful home and cannot wait to build again with Metricon in the future.
Metricon truly do live up to their slogan of 'love where you live'.

Nice family home

I was very happy with the finish on this house build. The Arden design has a nice feel inside and suits the block orientation. The colours we chose came together and worked well in the end. Shiny porcelain tiles reflect the sunlight and brighten up the house. The tiling job was of an excellent standard. Having the blinds installed was also a great idea as it was around the same cost to buy and DIY. The project manager was very helpful and positive.

The main reasons we selected Metricon were quality details they placed on their display home and assistance provided by their sales consultant, [name removed].

Colour selection went pretty smooth as we replicate most choices as per the display home.

Amazing Experience

Great home with taking care of every single detail. I am glad that I built home with Metricon. My site manager [name removed] was very helpful, responsive and willing to fix little outstanding work even after we moved in. (as per my past experience with other builder, most of the time they don't care, neither picking up the phone nor reply). My experience with Metricon was very positive and I highly recommend this builder. Sale guy [name removed] also assisted to take the right decision for my home and not just tried to sell the product. However Studio M team needs little improvement the way they treat the customers. For me it was not too bad as I only had little disagreement with upgrading my caesar stone and I ended up paying extra. Moving forward with the selection, I had to tell consultant to smile as she looks upset. But I have seen studio M team was little rude with other customers and pushing them to make selection quickly and tried to get things done. Overall I am satisfied with the journey and I love my Metricon home.

Great experience, Professional and one quality home!

This is the second home we built with Metricon, based on our first home building experience(which was 6 years ago) we knew we are in good hands.
Even though we had prior experience with Metricon, before we deciding the builder, we have done our home work thoroughly, shop around and Metricon stand out.
I think anyone would consider following factors when deciding the builder, and Metricon was right in front in all of them in our experience,

1. Cost
We have compared cost to build a similar house with other competitors. What are the Inclusions, Promotions. Metricon provided bigger home, for lower cost, better inclusions.

2. Build time
This is a major factor anyone works on a budget. If you are renting and building at the same time, the longer it takes to build, more rent you pay. And you have to take care of the mortgage too. Metricon delivered home under 6 months period in both houses we built. Which was such a peace of mind. Also I think weather came in our favour as well.

3. Quality
All in all, quality of the home is what you want to see. And you know your hard earn money well spent.
With Metricon attention to details are spot on. And we find it same Display Home quality control goes into house you built with Metricon. Which plays a bigger part in overall quality of the house. Slab, Frames little things like angle of a corner, straight walls, paint, fittings, Metricon has done a great job.

4. Customer Service
Metricon has come a long way, comparing two experiences. They have friendly professional staff, you can reach up to, also proper procedures in favouring us. We found those procedures really works in our building experience. Follow up and response time are few to name.

There are lot of people helped through out the journey big shout out to our site manager Dwayne Blackwell and building support cordinator Nikia Conroy.
Biggest plus is Dwayne was always available, easy to talk to and professional. Kept us well informed through out every milestone also adhered to custom inspection meetings requested. Dwayne has driven his team to deliver our home well before the agreed build times as per the contract and it wasn't a rushed job.
Nikia helped us with following up on various queries we made with prompt reply.

Over all it was a pleasant journey building our second home with Metricon, and we have a lovely home, years to enjoy!

From the moment we met our Sales Consultant [name removed] we new we were in good hands. She had a thorough knowledge of all aspects from the design to the build. Her communication skills were Excellent, and she was always willing to offer her advice and guidance at any time. I would Highly recommend her to anyone considering building a new home.
Our second Site supervisor [name removed] was fantastic to deal with. He listened to any of our concerns and ensured that at handover the house was completed to our high expectations.

Great Building Experience !

Metricon was the first builder that we visited at Home World some 18 months ago. After having visited a litany of other prospective providers we elected to choose one of their designs, as the overall quality and finish of the product appeared to be of a higher standard, albeit slightly more expensive, than other competitors. At this juncture, we are pleased that we chose Metricon.

We would like to have a special mention of the services of the Building Supervisor, [name removed]. He impressed us with his dedication to detail and patience which he exhibited throughout the build. The build was very well managed and the customer service and support were superlative. At all times [name removed] behaved in a highly professional manner and demonstrated empathy to any and all of our concerns. [name removed] made every endeavor to apprise us on a weekly (more often as required) basis as to the status of the build and, welcomed any queries which we may have held. [name removed] ensured that amendments / corrections to works which had been executed were completed properly and in a timely fashion.

[name removed]'s knowledge was additionally advantageous to us prior to engaging private contractors in relation to other aspects of the overall build, e.g. fencing, retaining walls, landscaping, etc. His advice has saved us many unforeseen inconveniences.

We would recommend [name removed] as the project manager to any prospective Metricon client.

Very disappointed

First of all we got to meet our site manager at the hand over he kept on cancelling our appointments then finally we did the hand over but there were a few things that needed to be done these are
1. Dirty water coming from the ensuite tap
2. We paid for 3 fans but received 1
3. Rain water pipes are not stable
4. Back door does not open properly and has a crack we’re the connection of the door and the wall
5. There is a crack on the kitchen bench top
6. Vacuum cleaner not working (one slot)
7.i had to change the dishwasher because wasn’t working properly
8.toilet lids not stable
We did notify Metricon about our problems but each time they said that someone will contact us about this matter but no one did it’s been 7 months since we moved in but nothing has been done they told us that Metricon is a good quality home but please think twice if you are thinking of building with Metricon very poor quality customer service and bad quality on getting things done around the house
This is just after I took over the house while construction we had a lot of problems so PLEASE THINK AGAIN when building a house with METRICON

What a wonderful experience we have been through with Metricon and our building site manager [name removed] who has given us such a positive experience. [name removed] has liaised with us on a weekly basis and kept us informed of the progress of the building works. [name removed] was approachable and easy to talk to and could answer any of our questions. His building support team [name removed] and [name removed] where also a great support to [name removed] whenever he contacted them with a question he need clarification on on answered in a timely manner. Metricon/Building manager were wonderful they helped me in every step. Their ultra professional manner and after completion service is unmatched. No matter how small or how large the tasks they were there to help me. They made this experience very enjoyable. I have never built before I always use to buy houses but they never seem to suit me. One day I went past a display home village and realized that Metricon can build a house that meets my needs.

So happy with the whole experience of building our very first home with Metricon. It was great to be so informed during the whole process. What really stood out to be most was our amazing building supervisor and our Building Support Coordinator. They were both so helpful through the whole process any questions we had they were always available to answer and help us out. They really made us even more excited about moving into our first home. All of our emails and phone calls were always responded to extremely quick, great customer service.Will defiantly

Some friend told me before I built my first home that will be a nightmare to build. I ended up with a stressless and joyful experience with the help of Metricon, from the beginning to the end. The site manager, [name removed] was so professional, well coordinated and outstanding in managing the details of every bit and pieces. His team members were exceptional as well to make the whole project deserved more than 6 stars. Well done!

Bordeaux- more like Bordon’t.

We found the Bordeaux by chance on the intranet and then visited the Melbourne display twice. We narrowed our choice to either the metricon Bordeaux or the Charleston Hampton. We made the wrong choice.
The contract and approval stage was slow and drawn out. Due to metricon delays getting Council approval, the contract date expired and they wanted to charge us $20k extra as the base price had increased- no more work, just because the time expired by a few weeks. We refused and weren’t charged but you have to be prepared to walk away, which I was and should have. The biggest frustration is you deal with different people throughout, there’s not one person that is continuous.
The build started in March 16 and we pushed hard to be in by Christmas which they did and we were ecstatic about the house. We knew that by pushing to be in by Christmas some things would need to be done later and we accepted that.
In feb 17 we were hit with a hail storm. We made our claim and the insurer refused to get the roof fixed because it doesn’t meet Australian standard. The pitch was below 2degrees and ours had pitch of 1-1.5 in several parts according to their report. After many emails, follow up and calls we had a trade come out and they said the roof is fine. After pushing for a signed report stating this fact, we had a senior manager come to the house in jan 18. He got on the roof with a level and said it’s fine, except for where someone must have trodden on it. I said no one had been on the roof except for metricon and his well rehearsed reply was “ well you have an aerial, so he must have done it”. Is the roof so unstable that someone walking on it changes the pitch?. Another example of metricon well rehearsed responses.
During the same visit I raised the fact that we had an ensuite leaking and had now been re-tiled for the second time with grout left all over the new carpet- showing him pictures. He was very indignant and said he’d get on to it to get it fixed. Well it’s now May and the ensuite has just been re-tiled for the third time and we still have no shower screen. The main ensuite has also had the screen removed for the last 6 weeks and was to be be reinstalled by today and I’ve just been told it won’t be as the tiler didn’t finish part of it, who knows when it will be done- I don’t !!
We got 4 bathrooms for a reason, not to have a backup when 2 are out of action!
Other issues include:
- leaking garage roof to the extent the ceiling was about to fall in.
- Crack in the landing of our $10k upgrade staircase.
- All skirtings and architraves going yellow- metricon would not allow us to use mat paint, only high gloss oil base which goes yellow- who’s living in this house us or Metricon?
- Doors squeak ridiculously loud.
- Doors don’t close properly.
- The front door still isn’t sealed so it lets a draft in and shakes.
- The hebel around each of the external sliding doors is cracking.
- Plus other general paint and maintenance issues.
The most recent surprise was the fact we realised we didn’t have an interim occupation certificate- in the rush to move us in prior to Christmas.
The downstairs rear of the house has 3.5m ceilings so we have three steps leading to the kitchen area. The recent house inspection to get an occupation certificate has revealed these steps are too wide and don’t meet Australian standards so they have to be rectified. I can guarantee that the new tiles that were imported from Italy will not match the previous batch. Are metricon going to retire our whole bottom floor? How can a professional builder get the basics wrong- how do they build 3 brick stairs that fail the Australian Standard? We are still waiting on a resolution to this one!
There’s many more details but frankly it’s too frustrating to continually deal with.
Overall, in my opinion, for the price of a Bordeaux you don’t get the quality you’d expect and would be better off with a custom build.
It’s a great looking house and it’s a real shame I’ve had to write this review as I would have preferred to refer people to metricon. All I want is what I paid for, to the quality you would expect for a $1m+ build or give me my money back and I’ll get someone else to do it.

I believe the workmanship was of a high standard, 5 star quality.
Right from the outset our Project Manager was on the job. His management and coordination of the various trades was exceptional and this meant the home was completed ahead of schedule. Any faults were quickly identified and rectified. The Project Manager maintained regular communication with us and provided regular progress reports. Any questions we had were answered promptly.
Customer service was excellent and we must also mention the Sales Person who was great and gave us options. All told the building process was a hassle free from start to finish.

Questions & Answers

Why don’t Metricon have a price to build your home once you decide what you want. A friend price started at $500000 now could be up to $700000 had to sign contract before access to Sydney office ,the price should be set once you pick your products, also prices are much dearer than quotes in the area to build why is that? Other people you talk to also had the same costing blow out . Would love to know how this works? doesn’t seem right when you have a set budget to work with .
