Truly awesome services

5 out of 5, reviewed on May 18, 2017

We would highly recommend Mint Telecom. In the current ISP market they truly stand out and the outstanding reviews and ratings on this site accurately reflect our experience. From first contact the customer service has been outstanding. The local customer service and support is friendly, timely and knowledgeable, even better than iinet before TPG takeover. Our ADSL changeover at two locations was painless and seamless. Since leaving TPG's iinet and Tangerine our connection speed and reliability have increased considerably.

Above and beyond

5 out of 5, reviewed on May 12, 2017

Have been a customer of Mint's for over a year now, first on an ADSL connection in one address and now with NBN in a new address. From the word go they have been outstanding. I have looked at smaller ISPs as an alternative to the big boys when I've lived overseas, but they always came at a price premium, however, Mint work out as outstanding value and I would actually be happy to pay more for the quality of the service. The setup was fast and any problems I've had (pretty much all related to copper wires and under Telstra's domain), have all been sorted quickly and efficiently. I've sent queries at all times of the day and night and over holiday weekends and always get a prompt response, even if I know they are probably sitting in their boxer shorts on the sofa writing the reply!
When I recently moved I looked around for a while and found one or two alternative ISPs that MAY have worked out cheaper, but then I read their reviews and all the complaints and I realised I'd already struck gold with Mint and made the best decision to stick with them. Would recommend them to anyone in a heart beat. Oh and Kelvin is a legend, give the man a raise! ;o)

Mint - professional and pleasure to deal with

5 out of 5, reviewed on May 11, 2017

Our choice to go with Mint to set up broadband coverage was based on the high ratings on this website. From the first contact, that has been reinforced. I couldn't believe it only took me 20 minutes to set up when I chatted to Craig. Then, prior to arriving in Hobart, a fault was identified and Kelvin from Mint actioned this with NBN, arranging for a technician from NBN to correct the issue. Kelvin then messaged me with the time and date the technician would be on site, and in the ultimate statement of professionalism, I received an email to check all was working well after the technician had been. I'd highly recommend Mint to anyone searching for personal service, a superior level of care and a good deal!
Their service is superior to any telecom company I've previously dealt with.

Amazing effortless customer service

5 out of 5, reviewed on May 05, 2017

Customer service had been amazing from the moment they picked up the phone.Everything was so effortless.I loved how honest the customer service person was when I had told them the previous tenant took the nbn box.they told me it would take 4 weeks to connect and let Me know it was the only option .Although I was frustrated It was okay because at least I knew what to expect he also let me know how long it would be until they updated me with connection details.I could tell from the start that this is a genuine company with people who put their customers needs first.

Mint Telecom is fantastic

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 27, 2017

I contacted Mint after looking thru all the NBN suppliers in Australia & checking the reviews, Mint came ip trumps, 99.9% were excellent. So I contacted mint by phone, no waiting on hold & Michael answered, was very polite & answered all my questions, was very efficient. I decided to give them a go. My connection was a new NBN, they organised the change over from my previous supplier & connection to NBN within 5 days, with constant follow up via email & phone if required, everything went flawlessly, & still going well. Can not recommend Mint enough, thanks guys.

Personalised customer service? Yes!!!

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 27, 2017

I contacted Mint to refer my mother-in-law for a churn (from Telstra) and Grant promptly responded to ask for details to follow up with her. He organised the service activation on an nbn plan (FTTN connection) and when I advised that my M-I-L is completely non-techie, he called her to organise a home visit to install the new modem and get all of their wifi devices hooked up... That is staggeringly awesome customer service from someone whom I know has pretty much been at a GM/director-type level for a considerable time!

Needless to say, M-I-L is very happy with both the customer service and connection service. I know that a home visit is highly dependent on circumstances and opportunity (location, availability, etc), but massive kudos to Grant and the team at Mint for providing a seamless churn and such a considerate level of service.

If it sounds too good to be true, is it?

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 21, 2017

It is true. Very much so. About a week to get it on and running .
There's been plenty of heartfelt accolades presented here so there is no need to repeat them , but I would just add that while their site mightn't hit you with screen-fulls of showy graphics and mind-boggling claims, if you can't quickly see what you are looking for, just start typing into that neat little anonymous (you) Chat box that appears after a while. You can ask them anything, even the local weather and you'll get straightforward, concise and exact info for anything you ask.
But, wait..that's not all.
Even AFTER you have signed up, (6 month contract, not 12 or 24) the same degree of friendly, dedicated support continues.
I've had it on for three days, I'm in Bendigo Vic and on 25/5 with VoIP via FTTN (the one where they don't dig up your garden) and I get a steady 24/4.8 pretty well continuously., no drop outs that I've noticed.
I'm sure you have all heard some of the current horror stories out there, "hour and half in a queue " "no phone for 10 days", and so on.
When I rang them for help on something I was concerned about (couldn't quite understand it, as it turned out) I promptly got assured that "you are at the head of the queue" and within moments was talking to a Tassie chap who patiently and fully explained what I needed to know. You'll need to keep the modem powered 24/7 for VoIP, but can switch off your computer regardless when not needed.
If you are still not convinced, try the chat feature out, you wont find anything to worry about, they don't even ask for your name!
Should be a Diamond Star rating... well done guys!

Mint Telecom is a real gem

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 19, 2017

I hope I won’t ever regret writing this review…

Having years of torturous and expensive experiences with Australia's main communication provider I found Mint Telecom. Installation was refreshingly prompt, professional and efficient. Importantly, when needing to ring, calls have been answered promptly, knowledgeably and by a person in Australia speaking English. Support requests (there has only been one so far) have been addressed immediately with good outcomes. With such strong reliance on Internet services for business and everything else in general life, Mint Telecom ticks all the boxes in making Internet things happen - thanks! Pity I couldn't give it six stars.

Really happy that I got NBN with Mint!

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 19, 2017

I just switched from Belong ADSL2+ to Mint FTTN. It's been a very pleasant experience I must say.

The whole transfer was done within a couple of weeks, with only a couple of hours down time, which certainly exceeded expectations. The service from sales to implementation is defintely first class and they keep you updated along the entire journey, something you don't get with the big names.

The only issues I had were my own issues with wifi interference in my house/area, which I have since fixed with a change to the modem/router settings.

The speed is 3 times faster than my old ADSL connection and I can now game lag free with no dropouts.

I highly recommend Mint and will be doing so to any who ask me. Thanks for the great sevice Mint, I really appreciate it. Also thanks to Kelvin who was a great help in getting everything sorted. Keep up the great work!!!

Disappointed NBN start!

2 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 17, 2017

Applied for the 100 mps installation package with MINT in early March (when my area was ready for the new NBN layout). Was then told it'll be over a month of wait till 12th of April before NBN could spare the time to connect the inside of my home (even the house was already setup with the external facility).
Finally the day arrives. Was told I'll get an SMS or email from the installer a few days before hand stating the time. NADA on that. Enquiring with MINT gave me a time slot of 12 to 4 pm. So expectation was high as I waited at home all the way till 4pm with zero SMS or email contact from NBN.

Finally, the truck shows up at 4:50 pm! The guy comes in with mobile on the ear (was on the phone 2/3s of the time he was here). Tells me I cannot have the connection box close to my TV in the lounge room since the external connection was installed too far away!

Finally got internet up at around 7pm. Thinking this is going to be joy as I look forward to the 100 mps promised data download. First issue came as the "spinning wheel" continues on my internet download. Checking with several speed testing app reveals a speed of 8.5 mps download and 11 mps upload over Ethernet.

Checked with MINT and went through all possible confirmation points. But over the next few days, the highest I got from the modem was over 50 mps during one morning (4 am), which quickly dropping back below 20 mps at 6 am. A far cry so far from the 100 mps promised and paying for!

MINT tells me they've launched an CVC error request to NBN, but has no idea when they'll come around to checking (or fixing the situation).

It's probably not a fault of MINT, but surely doesn't give the consumer that's paying for the installation and highest monthly fee a very good feeling to the start of NBN era !

Got a reply from MINT before I went public with this review: I said "I am paying for the highest rate and getting the lowest rate" Reply from MINT: "at least you have service" !

Not good enough!

Gold Medal for Service

5 out of 5, reviewed on Apr 11, 2017

We spent 7 years with iinet, then tried switching from ADSL 2 to NBN.
Big mistake - we were without internet for 7 weeks, constantly getting the run around by extremely rude customer service support in South Africa who just did not care, no such thing as a loyalty customer programme and still being billed for a service we did not have. Maybe iinet is just way to big now.

So glad when we found Mint Telecom & to know that they are an Australian business based in Tasmania is a huge relief. You can get in touch with them easily & have all your questions answered by knowledgeable, friendly customer service representatives who are the people who run and work in the business.

Just changed over from a very painful 2Mbps Foxtel ADSL connection to FTTN with Mint. Great service. Good price. Australian.

5 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 14, 2017

I have been with Mint for nearly a year, and barely ran into any problems. Small drop outs very rarely are about the only issues I've had. I am located in Launceston Tasmania and game online quite a bit. I'm on FTTP 50/25, have over 1tb(ups aren't counted), and using speedtest.net to Melbourne Internode server I receive approx ping in the 20's 45dl 18up, very slight difference with different servers with Telstra Melbourne around with ping in the 20s again, 46dl 16up. I've never had ping above 30, down below 40 or up below 15, including servers in Hobart, the numbers are very similar and constant. These numbers have other factors which will of course provide different results, however it will provide anyone interested with an idea. The guys are located in Hobart and are always fast and friendly to respond, even when it's out of business hours, someone will get back to you if emailed.

BEST PROVIDER BY FAR (10 OUT OF 10)

5 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 11, 2017

After months of less then adequate service from our previous server, we had to find another before we change to NBN so , we looked around for weeks and most other services review were scaring us off, no one appeared to be happy and were giving poor reviews.
However we came upon this page and it was the total opposite . So we thought to get in touch with Mint Telecom ( (Not an over sea company) yea!!!! and find out a bit more.

The staff at the other end are wonderful helpful polite and clearly understood .
The set up was quick simple and very fast. an effortless transition (from ADSL and previous provider) to MINT Telecom.
The speed is better then I could have expected,( my stress levels are the lowest they've ever been)
We went from an almost dial-up speed (ADSL2) with previous provider to a full 25/5 plan speed after our router was installed, which was delivered under 48 hours already pre-configured for us.

How satisfied are we??? We couldn't be happier, Mint Telecom may not be the biggest provider around BUT they are by far the best, proficient reliable, polite and friendlier lot we came across for customer Servise and support.
We highly recommend Mint Telecom, you won't be sorry

Well and truly exceeded expectations. Unparalelled service.

5 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 11, 2017

After years of disappointment in dealing with the big telecom companies, my partner and I decided we'd take a different approach and look toward supporting a smaller, Australian based business and see what was on offer. I was initially drawn to Mint due to their high customer feedback rating, and although a bit skeptical, decided to give them a call. That skepticism was soon replaced with a sense of relief after speaking with Grant, where he clearly explained exactly what we were eligible for and when the service could be provided. No fluff; and concise.

However it was when our service was active that, for us, Mint really reaffirmed their well deserved customer service ratings. Our connection (100/40 FTTN) was impacted by some technical issues on our end, and after replying to a previous email thread between myself and Kelvin, we were blown away by the level of commitment displayed in order to address the problem. Kelvin's response came outside of normal working hours and after an automated response detailing the fact he was on annual leave. That's unheard of. The instructions given to fix the issue were clear and have resulted in us having a super fast and stable connection! We haven't experienced that level of follow up work before and are extremely grateful.

Big thanks to Mint for giving us faith in that not only can we have a fast, reliable service but also depend on a committed and knowledgeable team. You have set an awesome precedent, and have two extremely happy customers!

Questions & Answers

Why is it that mint.telecom can't offer 200Gb and 500Gb downloads when almost every other ISP can?

Scrivener asked on Sep 01, 2017

Answer this

Hi Scrivener, we do have a 200GB option available on FTTP and FW, just not available for all types of NBN. Otherwise, the price difference between the differing inclusions is negligible yet the legal requirements to provide additional plans is large (multiple differ plans requires a lot of setting up and managing). In fact, many ISP's only offer unlimited these days and don't bother with the range that Mint does.
So, very simply, we choose to keep things very simple and make sure what we do we do well.
Cheers
Michael

Let me rephrase the question then... Why is it that Mint Telecom can't offer 20Gb and 500Gb to users on FttN? Other ISP do as far as I can tell. If not, why not? This will decide my continuing with Mint.

Hi, I live in Southport, Queensland, 4215 and I have been your costumer for 2 months , I got an unlimited broadband ADSL I have never been able to do a backup of my iPhone due to the slow speed. How can I ask support about that? thank you

Federica asked on Aug 30, 2017

Answer this

Hi Frederica,
Yes, you just need to contact us directly to advise what your specific problem is and we can see how we can help.
Note, adsl upload speeds are only a maximum of 1Mbps so is slow by design. Additionally, adsl download speeds are largely determined by distance from the exchange (further away the slower it gets) and quality of your copper.
Either way, please contact us directly (call or email us) and we can review for you.
Cheers
Michael
