Same as every one else on this website. ok for 1-2yrs and useless
bought on rcommendation of pool guy, maybe he is on commission? Or maybe he knows it breaks down after a couple of years and he has more work coming back to him?Anyway, worked pretty good or a year or two. then parts started failing. rubber skirt obviously, but still worked. sort of, then the swivel connector broke (hard plastic just breaks. thats crap) contacted pentair customer service multiple times, never an answer. $400 for a year and a half, so $260 a year? thats pretty steep. Then however much you want to throw good money after bad trying to buy parts, the mentral stress trying to contact pentair services... no I wont buy pentair again Show details
Absolutely crap
This is the worst pool cleaner I’ve ever been dumb enough to pay for from day one it wouldn’t work properly the pool shop I purchased it from closed soon after I bought it now I’m stuck with a $500 lemon you live and learn great white 2 pool cleaner owners should have a class action against the producers of this crap cleaner Show detailsKeep looking
Have had (2)! Used on pebblecrete pool --- 8 m long, kidney shape with gum trees all around and some kind of long skinny leaf that stops this thing dead in it's tracks everytime. My experiences are similar to those echoed on this site. Apron seal wears quick (probably due to pebblecrete abrasion), parts are not cheap. This thing is very needy and really just ends up sitting in one spot most of the time. Problem is compounded as our skimmer does not work when this thing is plugged in --- hence leaf matter ends up sinking ---- which just creates ... Read moremore problems, maintenance and reliance on chemicals with trips to pool shop. FYI ---My belief is you need to spend your precious time in the pool -- not at the pool shop so I bit the bullet and bought a robotic cleaner on Friday. Today is Monday and my pool is crystal clear, skimmer box working fine. This thing did more work in 2 days than my great white in 3 yrs! The universe is balanced once again. Regret not doing it sooner --- much sooner. Great White is now sitting in my bin awaitng pick-up At best, I would say if you have healthy suction, dual skimmer boxes and smooth vinyl pool then a Great White may work for you -- but then again, there still are many others to choose from as well.Waste of money
It stoppped working after a few months as the rubber seal went at the bottom waited 3 months for replacement, it went again after a month and I was told it was my pools fault! waited again months to get another replacement which I was told I needed to pay for as now not in warranty, which I explained if they had changed it within a reasonable time frame it would have been. Now broken again and told tuff basicly. It was well over the cost of others but went with recommodation from my pool shop, BAD CHOICE. I now have to buy another, company could not care less ZERO after sales. Show detailsSpare parts are ridiculously expensive
Have had to replace 2 rubber seals in 2 years at $60 each time.I would not recommend the great white for that reason.
Other than that it cleans well, climbs the walls well, have had no other issues with it. Show details
Do. Not. Buy
It works great.. until it fails.I've now had TWO of these, and both failed after 2 years. At more than $400 a pop, plus $100 to replace the gears (both of them!) I'm now out a grand and have to buy a new one (It will ABSOLUTELY not be a Pentair product.)
So be warned.. if you're buying one with the intention of having it last longer than 2 summers, forget it. It's trash.
Be warned. Show details
3 Years Old and Not Working - Not Happy
This Great White was put in as a replacement for my 6 year old Zodiac. After about 3 years it is barely working, wont go to the shallow end and is barely effective. I’ll pull it apart and check it out but judging from other reviews I’m wasting my time. It was my local pool shop’s recommendation so I’ll be talking to them!Show details
never, never, never again
The GW 9500 is a product that works as a short term solution in a world that is flooded with over priced and under performing pool cleaners. The spare parts prices are ridiculous and the skirt seal, which is critical to its operation is expensive, difficult to replace, poorly designed and made of inferior material that perishes and falls apart.
I would not recommend this product to anyone unless you are prepared to throw it away in a couple of years or spend much of your pool time "baby sitting " it and dragging it to the shallow end or out o... Read more
f corners. The pool cleaner market is flooded with expensive products with very low star ratings and it is hard to find a value for money product that actually works so I am seeking out the "genuine satisfied customers"in my quest to find a replacement. This industry deserves a competition shake-up from a revolutionary new product that actually delivers, instead of the many copycat products that copy poor performance at the consumer's expense.Worked well for 18 months then only good for bin
Same as other reviews, this worked very well for 18 months, then needed one part after another. Parts are not just expensive, they are so expensive I could have purchased another new unit. Support in Australia is very limited. Cost me $680 new, plus nearly $450 in parts so far. Less than 2 years old. This is a ripoff item. I would persist, but spare parts exceed ripoff status. I am looking for another unit now. Any recommendations?ok
Good for large leaves and works great for around 18 months - after that parts start going and not well known in Australia - buy parts from USA and then another part goes. 6 months ago I would have said best I ever used - now looking for new one that is supported in Australia. Also make by like 5 Different company's.works great for 18 months
Hard to get parts in Australia and if you find them it is like $50 for 1 cog - 100% mark up
Waste of money
Never goes to the shallow end of the pool. Have to drag it physically every time to get it to go to work in the shallow end. As soon as its there, it turns and goes to the deep end. Gravity? Tried multiple hose lengths. Taken all the hoses apart and rearranged their order several times. Cleaner goes into a big hose loop which then inhibits its reach. Moves far too slowly. Tried varying the skimmer box bleed valve settings. Put the old barracuda back on and watched it leap into action. It climbed the walls and went all over the pool. I only changed cleaners because I thought the barracuda had a fault but it turned out it was a pump suction fault.A pool expert found another suction problem at the pump, different to the one mentioned in my previous review. It was not the great white cleaner head's fault. Because the barracuda cleaner head worke... Read more
d so well and the great white did not, it falsely led me to believe the fault lay in the great white. But it works OK now so I offer my apologies to any reader and ask that you please disregard my critical review.Questions & Answers
Why is the rubber seal replacement so ridiculously expensive? I have had to replace 2 in 2 years at $60 each time.
No reason whatsoever, a $10 part that they charge $60-$70 for. Not smart marketing IMO as I would avoid buying another on that issue alone. Having said that, the unit itself seems reliable enough.
