Don't purchase this grinder. You might as well throw your money In the bin

After 10 months of use and not daily, the lid lock in clips have broken off on one side and almost ready to break off on the second side. When this one breaks, which will be any day, then the machine will no longer work.You would expect a $40 appliance to last more than 10 months.
Sunbeam needs to reconsider the design of the lid so it does not break.

I am disappointed to read the issues I have experienced are written about extensively. The locking mechanism cracks- it doesn’t depress the safety switch and the grinder fails. So I went to KMart & bought a cheaper more reliable version.In the mean time I have spent 4 weeks in communications with Sunbeam which is actually Home Appliance ANZ Consumer Care. They are worse than useless.

This was my second Sunbeam MultiGrinder II, which I bought reluctantly, as it was all I could find at the time due to Covid. I use it exclusively for herbs and spices. The first grinder failed in the same manner as this one except more quickly, (18 months) as the plastic lid now seems thinner and lighter than my previous one. In fact, the whole unit seems cheaper and lighter than the previous. Ill try not to swear but, it's freaking impossible!!! It's a terrible designed lid, it should not be difficult to open or close the lid! Bin Job, had to break it just to get it off. Poor quality plastic lid
This device was ok and served its purpose although not easy to clean. Yesterday I removed the lid and the plastic edge on the lid disintegrated and rendered the whole thing useless. How do I release the safety catch of the grinder?
This grinder does not have a Safety Catch. To release the lid, rotate the lid anti-clockwise and lift to unscrew and remove the lid.
My grinder is not grinding, why is that and what can I do?
Check to make sure the lid bayonet is on properly and not broken off to activate interlock.
How do I take care of my grinder?
When you have finished grinding, unplug your MultiGrinder II from the power outlet. Remove the cover and wash in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Wipe the blades, stainless steel grinding bowl, exterior and motor base with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any excess ground coffee, spices or herbs. Use caution when handling the blades, as they are extremely sharp.
Important: Do not immerse the motor base or grinding bowl of the MultiGrinder II in water. Do not place the MultiGrinder II in the dishwasher.
I broke my lid and the grinder stops working, what can I do?
Contact Sunbeam Customer Service Center on 1300 881 861 (AU) or 0800 786 232 (NZ) to purchase a replacement lid.
