Amazing ! Do it !

We have just returned from the Classic Wendy Wu Golden Triangle tour, plus 2 night Varanasi extension. Our tour guide was Ajay- what a delightful, caring, well organised and extremely well informed guide he is ! We couldn't have wished for better - nothing was too much trouble for him. Our driver, Mr Singh was unbelievably skilled - how he manoeuvres a huge coach that traffic is mindboggling! The itinerary was jam packed with the most amaaaazing sights, good food ( mainly Indian, of course) and good-to-excellent hotels in all locations during the tour. Tip : If you plan on shopping for gifts /souvenirs etc. you will need to take any opportunity you get, as there is not much time to shop.
Just a few points of advice to future travellers :
1. if you need to change currency at the hotel, do it during the day. We found at most of the hotels that the currency exchange desk either runs out of cash (India is in the process of issuing new notes) or closes in the evening. Bear in mind there is not much spare time to find one outside the hotel !
2. If you have a back problem, think twice about doing the rickshaw ride to the ghats in Varanasi. I really enjoyed it, but my husband (who had had back surgery in November) suffered quite a bit of pain after it ! The ride is approx 45 mins each way, over quite rough roads, dodging cows and hectic traffic etc. Fun, but not with a dodgy back !

Overall, it is certainly a 'bucket list' trip not to be missed : from opulent palaces to shocking poverty... and everything in between.
Well done Ajay and Wendy Wu for the trip of a lifetime.
