 AI reviews summary

Pros
Fast and reliable delivery: Many reviewers highlight prompt delivery times, often receiving orders within a day or two when fulfilled directly by Amazon.
Product variety and pricing: Users frequently note the extensive range of available items and competitive price points compared to traditional retail stores.
Streamlined returns process: A segment of customers praises the easy return procedure, mentioning convenient drop-off options and quick refund processing.
Cons
Delivery and courier issues: Multiple reviews report delayed shipments, parcels left in vulnerable or incorrect locations, and unreliable tracking updates.
Customer service difficulties: Users note that contacting support often leads to unhelpful automated responses, language barriers, or unresolved inquiries.
Third-party seller concerns: A subset of feedback points to misleading product descriptions, counterfeit items, and complicated return policies when purchasing from marketplace vendors.
Verdict

Feedback regarding Amazon is heavily divided between frequent shoppers who appreciate the wide product range, competitive pricing, and swift delivery, and frustrated customers detailing significant service breakdowns. A recurring point of friction involves delivery inconsistencies, such as missing parcels and poor communication from third-party couriers, alongside difficulties when attempting to resolve issues through customer support. While many users report a seamless experience with prime services and returns, others caution potential buyers to carefully vet marketplace sellers and manage expectations regarding shipping timeframes.

I ordered a filter for my tap, I somehow managed to pay for 2 but I only wanted one. at two different prices. I ordered the cheapest one, but I got the cheapest and the dearest ones. answer from them. I was using a site called TappWater . I complained to them about the delivery. Why everyone doesn't look at the reviews is beyond me. If I have looked, I wouldn't have ordered the filters and tap parts. They have a very bad review rating.

Purchasing from Amazon is normally great but if the product is supplied by a 3rd party forget it Try contacting Amazonif there is a problem, there is no contact number , try contacting the supplier, they only want the product sent back to China before they will refund but what if you want this product replaced and this will take months Lesson learned , if it’s not to be delivered tomorrow don’t place the order Show details

I shop online often and my experience with Amazon has excellent to date. Not everything is perfect but having used other companies like temu and ebay now nearly always go to amazon first and usually end buying from amazon if they have what I need. Show details

Item not delivered – 24/12/2023 - empty amazon box handed to me after giving a code, was to contain a iphone. The delivery guy started trotting off but I called him out on the empty box, he phoned amazon and filled them in, wanted to unmark it as delivered but they refused. They told him to take the empty box back. I called amazon later and they said an investigation… Read more

had commenced call back in 3 days. Done that and had to send a stat dec with their "specific" wording for a refund. I was told I would get a refund but that person could not authorise a refund of high value, I was then told a manager would need to do the refund due the value. That person in an email threatened me with loss of account privileges or account closure and refused a refund. Started their procedure all over again and back to the same result a second time. I did get another email saying I would get a refund but no refund. I then went to my bank for chargeback, ME Bank, 3 months later amazon claim ME bank took the money back off them but I did not receive the money back in my account until 24th of June 2024.

did to mine I used the world rubbish to describe it there is an issue ...when customers are very upset if the bad quality of a product most likely will use such terms and they will never know that their review was not published as it does not come any notification but you have delibertly to search in your messages or in reviews if your review was published.....So convenient manipulation....imagine how many upset customers are cut in this way from informing......it would be more honest for Amazon if would publish the review and use dots over supposedly vulgar words

Got the message saying parcel was delivered. Searched in the usual places that I find parcels after delivery drivers chuck them over my wall. This Muppet left the parcel in a totally unsafe place. Had two successful experiences with Amazon but third is not positive. Item has apparently been dispatched and was supposed to be delivered 12 August, then the date changed to 14 August and now (@ 18 August) their website states delivery date unavailable. When you look for an option to contact amazon there is not a single option available. I did an… Read more

online search and found an Amazon forum with multiple complaints/enquiries regarding contacting them. Each had a standard responce staing to click the included link that supposedly takes you to contact options for them on their website.

You just go around in a loop and there are no contact options that I could find. If they do exist they obviously do their utmost to make it difficult for you to contact them.

There are also no contact options for their delivery partner, CODEX, on the CODEX website, only an option to track your parcel. When I track my parcel it simply states that it was dispatched on 11 August 2026 at 9pm.

Not so simple when trying to manage a problem it seems? At time of my review, of 2611 reviews 2028 are 1 star.

Edit @ 18/8, by chance thought id follow up and, I managed to contact Amazon while I was trying to track my parcel/report a problem etc. Forget which button it was but clicked it and had contact options and selected "Chat". Anyway, they have ordered a replacement...wow! I was advised I'd receive email confirmation but 4 or so days later no email (I possibly misunderstood). However, there is a notation on my account, in orders, that a replacement has been ordered, arriving in 3 days! Fingers crossed!

Ordered a brand new book and it arrived with badly scuffed corners, as there was no protection around the book which clearly had moved around inside the box during transit. I wrote a poor review on Amazon and it was not published as it didn’t meet a long list of unrealistic and confusing maze of requirements, which means I couldn’t complain if it involved any of the basic issues you would normally complain about. Never using Amazon again. Show details

people and tonight was transferred after I said no and just left with nobody because I wanted actual follow up that I was told would happen and didn’t. You can’t email anymore so it’s phone call, chat or nothing. And chat is a joke. It took me over an hour to just get a refund and have the rained on parcel reported and now no follow up as promised. Amazon used to be such a help but it’s a mess now and keeps costing me more and more time fixing their mistakes. Items damaged from being packed ridiculously badly (funko pop boxes in envelopes instead of boxes, glass items shipped together loose with no packing material and so on. Just pure incompetence and lack of basic common sense) and then replacements arriving exactly the same after promising they will be ok the next time and then having to fight for refunds. Paying more with Amazon to get something on the delivery date required and then items not showing up as promised, it’s a mess now and it’s so disappointing as it used to be reliable and an absolute lifesaver for a disabled and very sick parent to a young child but now it’s wasting my time and i can’t actually use my service I pay for, for a lot of things as I know they won’t be in giftable condition or will be broken or will be out of date or have very limited date. It’s gotten so bad. I will likely cancel my account at this point as it’s not really a benefit anymore and they don’t seem to care anymore.

I have had 2 interactions with Amazon Australia this week. The first was about receiving damaged items which did not have sufficient packaging to prevent damage (items were completely bent and unusable) and also to question their return process. Their website stated there was a parcel point locally to drop off a return however after showing up… Read more

there, the courier knew nothing about Amazon returns so was a total waste of time. After I contacted Amazon about the discrepancy, they said they would organise a return pickup in the next 2 days between 8am and 5 pm and I would need to be home to sign for it! This was not acceptable having to stay at home for 2 days without knowing when they would show up?! After a lot of back and forth in the chat I finally received a refund.

I would have given them more stars even though it was a difficult process however…..

The second issue was about a pricing issue on an item I purchased. Have attached an image of the initial complaint. After opening a chat and explaining what the issue was about, I waited a considerable amount of time before anyone responded. I wanted to discuss this inconsistent pricing because I felt somewhat ripped off after I had made my purchase and the price once again had dropped by $100.

I finally got through but basically was told there’s nothing they can do about the pricing. While I was still responding to her answer, she just abruptly ended the chat and I could not continue the discussion. Very disrespectful! I didn’t even get to respond! I then rang them and was put on hold and was told there would be a 30 minute wait…..however 1 hour and 15 minutes later I decided it was time to hang up as I clearly was not going to get to talk to anyone!!

I would send the item back however only found out about the pricing difference an hour after we had opened the package so it’s no longer eligible for change of mind. Didn’t even get the opportunity to discuss it!

Hazardous Fake Pet Product & Amazon Refusal to Act (Order 249-6185816-3226238) Seller: Aimall australia, Product: "Natural sisal rope" 1. Concrete Evidence of Material Fraud & Safety Hazard The seller advertised this product as " Natural Sisal Rope for DIY Cat Scratching Posts." What I received is a fake, plastic-looking white rope with a… Read more

toxic, pungent chemical smell, posing an extreme ingestion and health hazard to pets. In Amazon message, the seller shamelessly claimed that "the outer side of the rope has a sisal material fixing line to prevent the rope from loosening". And they admitted that  the rope has been chemically treated .

According International Natural Fiber Standards & Pet Product Safety Guidelines:

"Authentic natural sisal rope must be made entirely from 100% natural agave plant fibers from top to bottom, without any synthetic materials inside or outside. It should never contain plastic, polyester, or cheap synthetic fuzz in the core.

Chemical-Free & Safe: Genuine sisal rope for cat posts must be non-toxic and free from harsh chemical smells. It must be safe for cats to scratch, bite, and lick."

material fraud: True natural sisal rope does not need an "outer fixing line" to hold its shape. The seller wrapped a thin outer layer of sisal over cheap synthetic fluff to deceive buyers and cut costs.

Toxic Risk (Pet Safety Hazard): The seller officially admitted using a chemical softening agent. A chemical l on a pet item is dangerous because cats can ingest toxic chemicals when scratching or biting the post.

Direct Comparison: My attached photos clearly show the cross-section of their rope and unnatural color compared with a genuine natural sisal rope I subsequently bought from another Amazon seller. The fraud is undeniable.

2. System Failure & Support Unresponsiveness A-to-z Claim Glitch: I have contacted Amazon phone support 4 times and  to no avail, receiving only generic stalling responses. I attempted to file an A-to-z Guarantee claim twice on the Amazon website, but the system glitched and failed both times. Unreasonable Return Costs and insurance: Amazon Support is fully aware (via message history) that the return shipping cost exceeds the price of the item itself. Yet, Amazon continues to force me to pay return costs and insure this $34 item, and allowing seller to harass me with conflicting demands.

Attach 7: Advertised item listing on Amazon. Attach 6: Photo showing the white rope I received Attach 5:  The end of the rope held in my hand, clearly exposing the cheap synthetic core. Attach 4: Side-by-side comparison with genuine sisal rope (purchased from another Amazon seller) on the right. Attach 3: the seller's message containing their ridiculous "fixing line" and "chemical agent" . Attach 2:  Amazon Support messaging history proving Amazon awareness of the return postage fee more than the the item cost itself. Attach 1: Final Amazon A-to-Guarantee email ask me to pay return costs and to insure this $34 item.

Been using Amazon for several years now in Australia. Overall a great range of products on their website - pretty much everything from A to Z like their motto says, Amazon Prime seems to be decent value for money, their website is easy to navigate and shop on, Amazon Vine has been great for testing and reviewing free products, AI review summaries… Read more

help to quickly get an idea of how a product performs and there seems to be a decent number of discounts on products.

The only problems I have with Amazon is that there are probably *too many* products on their website. If I'm looking for a laptop stand I don't really want to go through 40 products, several of which seem to be quite similar/knock offs of other ones that. Additionally, many deliveries I get from Amazon are just left at the front door. Thankfully the drivers don't seem to throw the product on the patio (although I have seen and heard of other stories of people living elsewhere in Australia where drivers just throw the packages on the ground) but for some reason they won't ring the bell even when it's literally right above where they leave the product. If someone is delivering a product to my house I'm happy to be disturbed by them!

Overall good, but needs work (especially with overworking and underpaying warehouse staff).

**Shockingly bad delivery service** Amazon Australia's delivery service has become shockingly bad, particularly for customers outside metropolitan areas. Nobody came to the… Read more

house. I live in the country and can see approaching car headlights from a considerable distance. No delivery vehicle came anywhere near my property.

The tracking history speaks for itself:

* Sunday, 23 August, 11:50 am: Out for delivery * Sunday, 23 August, 7:52 pm: “Delivery attempted” * Sunday, 23 August, 8:52 pm: Back at the Adelaide carrier facility * Monday, 24 August, 10:09 am: Out for delivery * Tuesday, 25 August, 11:14 am: Out for delivery yet again

This is not an isolated incident. The supposed “delivery attempted” status when no attempt has actually been made has become a recurring problem.

Amazon is very good at taking orders and promising delivery dates, but the delivery service is becoming completely unreliable. Customers should not have to spend days wondering whether an “out for delivery” parcel will actually arrive, nor should Amazon's tracking system record a delivery attempt when nobody has been anywhere near the address.

Absolutely useless delivery service and nowhere near the standard I would expect from Amazon.
