1 greg  · Crappo – Probably one of the worst protein bars around, made my kidneys hurt too.
2 albert p.  · I don't like the flavour – It has a good amount of protein a good value. However I hate the flavour as it taste too sweet and weird after taste.
2 josipzilic  · Bad – Could be easier to eat and the choc taste quickly diminishes after a couple of chews. filling taste bland

If a protein bar could be a catfish. Deceptively pleasant start lures into a horrendous finish – If a protein bar could be a catfish. This one starts off with promise, a smooth, fluffy texture and subtle-yet pleasant chocolate-ish flavour that suddenly morphs into a horrendously chemical finish on account of the cocktail of sweeteners in the ingredients. Show details

Other reviews are correct – Just tried this bar. Not a fan at all. It has a weird tingly burning feeling in your mouth and tastes like a chemical, if that makes sense? Threw it out. Show details

Grose – Unedable as a bar. Could not even hide the taste mixed into a smoothie. Tastes like it's out of date even though it's not. Would not buy again ever again.

Chocolate Flavoured Candle – Any good reviews are probably from company stooges. This is bloody gross. It’s like eating a mildly chocolate flavoured candle, flaming wick first. Waxy consistency and oh the throat burn! Since 1991? What have you been doing to improve your product for the last 30 years? Show details

So Good When I'm Craving Chocolate! – When I've let myself get too hungry while I'm out-and-about, it's way too easy for me to grab a "quick fix" food from the supermarket that gives me a sudden burst of energy, and that's usually chocolate! Whenever this happens, however, I almost always eat too much too quickly and my blood sugar hits the roof before crashing in nearly no time at… Read more

all. Just last night at around dinnertime, I wasn't even close to being home and picked up one of these (chocolate-flavoured) HPLC bars that were on special for $4 at Coles to try instead of resorting to chocolate. The verdict: I'M SOLD! It's obviously not quite the same as a chocolate bar, but it's much more nutritious and filling. The calorie content is much higher than a typical chocolate bar, but do remember that this supplement bar is large and dense at 100g! Kept me well-and-truly satisfied long enough to get home, and I wasn't even very hungry for a "proper" dinner an hour later. Sadly, these are quite overpriced. I can't see myself buying them again unless they are put on sale again. Dense, chewy, reminded me of chocolate nougat, seemed very indulgent, yet guilt-free! Expensive, only one flavour (chocolate) was available at Coles.

The Best Healthy Chocolate bar sold at mainstream supermarkets – To a certain extent, I would say that I am somewhat of a health nut. To incorporate into my controlled eating plan, I would need to find a high protein bar with the lowest sugar content possible and this absolutely ticked all the boxes on my list. These sorts of bars do not overwhelm you with a sugary taste like most cheaper non-health related… Read more

chocolate bars.

There are two ways in which I take them, either through a cardiovascular bike ride, or a gym session or as a meal replacement when I'm busy on the go. These bars are not to be consumed for fun, or if you're not going to be exercising; as well as if you have a craving for chocolate. It is designed intended for its purpose.

As this comes in three flavours, the best flavour I've found is chocolate and above all other flavours; has the lowest sugar content per 100 grams. It also controls your hunger cravings too, which is better than junk food.

In conclusion, It serves my needs and even though it is expensive for what it is, it serves me very well indeed.

In terms of a recommendation, I would only recommend this product only if a friend of mine were going through similar circumstances; not as an alternative for guilt-free sweets or a different agenda. It won't do any one including a friend any justice if you're not planning on changing your eating habits for the better; or incorporated with an exercise regime. 45 grams of protein, good for exercise and dietary needs (meal replacement), low sugar, low carbs Dull packaging, Wish it could be bigger in size, More flavours

Good - but they dont all contain Whey protein – * Great protein hit - 45 grams is tops in any language, relatively low carbs and fats * Fills you up if you eat it between meals * Excellent after a workout * Never really noticed getting thirsty after eating one of these, like some of the other reviews have stated here, but I drink plenty of H2O anyway so I might not have noticed. water is good for you, so it might be a good thing.

* Anyone who eats protein bars for flavour is seriously kidding themselves - they are a nutritional supplement not a marinated steak and salad on the side. Having said that, the flavour of these bars is more than acceptable given the benefits you reap consuming them. I like the flavour of Choc-Crunch the best, but because it does not contain whey protein I have switched to the Chocolate flavoured bar, which is the only bar in this series that contains Whey protein. The Choc-Crunch and Caramel Rough contain soy isolate and not whey protein. I have written to Aussie Bodies several times asking why the use of el cheapo soy, but each request for an answer has been ignored, which I feel is quite rude. It does not make sense why Aussie Bodies insist on ruining an otherwise good product by using soy protein.

Decent enough protein – High protein / low carb bar which i find to be decent enough for my purposes. I pick up a few when doing my groceries or groceries for my mother. I gave this a 4 as they are pricey at $5 ($4 when on special at my local woolies/coles). The taste is good enough for me not perfect but what is lol...it serves it purpose. flavours which is sweet. These would be the best value that I have found at my local , i will continue to buy.

Horrendous – Nothing made me fear for my health more than this bar. Burns your throat. Absolutely vile artificial chemical taste. Cookies and cream looks like it should be in the toy food section of children’s toys. Waste of money.

Somehow gotten even worse – Getting 40g of protein with minimal carbs is hard, I admit that. But this bar is quite literally inedible. It burns the throat and has such an overwhelming aftertaste. Beyond repulsive... Worse since the design change I believe.

Worst tasting protein bar – Attractive protein content but has a horrible bitter after taste. Can't recommend this, when Musashi offers a much better tasting bar with equal protein content. Show details

The new shape flavours and ingredients are disgusting – I used to eat around 15 - 20 of the old flavour HPLC bars with 45g protein per week then they have changed it to the new shape bars which are disgusting, and you can tell, each week sometimes I would struggle to find supermarkets stocking them now the shape bars are completely full and nobody buying them, please go back to the old flavour that has been the same for the past few years. Show details

Way too sweet – The Cookies and Cream flavored bar I purchased was so sweet it caused burning sensation to inside of my mouth and tingling of lips - like eating chillies. Only ate half the bar because the burning was uncomfortable and worrying. Show details

Lost a customer – I used to use HPLC bars each day (half a bar), in Peanut Butter flavour. What have you done to it? The flavour now is totally unbearable. Suffice to say, you've lost a customer.

Changed the recipe, made it much worse – Pros: It contains protein. Cons. Literally everything else. Worst tasting protein bar I've ever eaten. Weird, chemical aftertaste and leaves a coating in the mouth. Even eating it with a coffee doesn't make it edible. Not sure what Aussie Bodies were thinking when they ceased making the chocolate crunch bar to produce this atrocity.

As expected – Relatively cheap, high in protein, the chocolate fudge flavour tastes like you'd imagine. Like chocolate protein powder. Its very dense and chewy, but i find they work rather quite well. I still buy them

Terrible taste but great protein – This bar is a meal in itself, I was full after half the bar though I wasn't particularly hungry to begin with. It taste terrible though and is quite expensive.

Protein Power Hit – I was curious as to what it tasted like as it had so much protein and my for the price you could probably find better but I didn't mind the taste too much The texture was quite pleasant and it did keep me full, the taste is Allright but not the strongest chocolate taste, but for the protein hit I'd totally buy again

Perfect when you have a stomach ache – I thought the taste was good enough for a protein bar. Eating in excess may have laxative effect, very important. Not for pre-workout. You may [word removed] yourself trying to squat.

Decent bar, very filling – It's a little expensive, I had this bar because it was on sale and I was curious as to what protein bars tasted like. From my friend's explanation, it was going to be bad, but I found it decent. I tried chocolate, which was really thick and sweet - good for when you're hungry, and you don't care too much (and also if you gym I guess)

Great bar, but cheap/unknown ingredients caused an allergy – The nutritional benefits of this bar seemed the best when checking all of the bars available at the supermarket. The taste is odd but it isn't a real chocolate bar so if that is what you are expecting you are going to be disappointed. Just some fuel for the rig! I had some kind of allergic reaction to the bar with a really blocked nose as soon as I ate it.

It's just protein – I eat these at work all the time (Security Officer) and it serves as a physical protein source not a liquid one. People always complain about taste but if you are truly seeking the 'change' you have to eat for the results, not the taste. Cookies & Cream is the only once I can eat as the others are too sweet in my opinion.

45 grams of protein per 100 gram bar – Not a bad bar and with the huge protein hit too (45 grams per 100 gram bar) I sampled a few other bars on the market, even the popular quest bar. That plus the other ones were no where close for taste and size wise in my opinion. I bought a few on special at coles for $3.65, normally $5.60. And be realistic, you aren't going to taste anything like a cadbury milk chocolate bar. Enjoy it or pretend to anyway!

Yuck – "Chocolate Flavor." You can really taste the artificial sugars in this piece of crap. The Bar resembles of a stale milky way which is incredibly chewy and hard to swallow. The bar has 2 protein blends (protein blend 42%, protein milk chocolate 23%) which is questionable in terms of quality of the protein sources. The added creatine is unnecessary… Read more

giving it two stars only because of its 45 g protein content but for a 100g bar, it's pretty mediocre compared to another brands. Would not eat another one nor recommend it to friends.

Tl:dr

Pros : High in protein

Cons: Everything else

Would recommend it: No

Great – This is a tasty bar. I have been buying these for the last 6 months since they have been at woollies. I recommend buying them when they have 30% off which is usually every 4 weeks. Also they are big enough to half and have as a snack for both morning and afternoon tea.

Doesn't taste anything like chocolate, tastes horrible – This is the worst tasting thing I've had in my mouth for years. I had one bite, that was more than enough. I rinsed my mouth out with water, but I couldn't get the foul taste out. Every time I think of it, I feel nauseous. Yuk, yuk, yuk!
