Painful experience – Takes 2 days minimum to respond to emails. Replies without actually reading the emails. Then after over a week informs me that there will be changes to my policy and cost to do what I asked when that was the whole point of the first email and what I asked them to quote me. So unhelpful and I will go elsewhere even if I pay more. Not recommended. Show details
I do not recommend Budget Direct. Very disappointed – In over 2 years with Budget Direct, it's the first time that I made a claim and I'm having a terrible experience. I'm extremely disappointed and I need a solution for that asap. I've raised a complaint and they said the time for a resolution can go up to 30 days. I'm paying for a hired car from my pocket and I need a solution for this matter asap.… Read more
On 7/08 I had an incident with my car and my tyre got damaged. I called the roadside assistance and the driver from road assistance replaced a tyre with my spare tire and he recommended get a towing truck because it was not safe to drive because the suspension might be damaged. The towing truck driver delivered my car to Unit 3 / 23-25 Kabi Circuit , Deception Bay. When I hired budget direct, I hired with the option of hired car because I need my car for my day by day activities including work. The claim is taking a while to be approved and because it is not approved I am paying a hired car from my pocket and it's charging day by day on my credit card. My credit card is about to go over the limit. I called the insurance today and they said the claim is not approved because my policy does not cover that. I fully disagree. My tire got destroyed in an accident . And I am paying insurance for this type of situation.
Shop around – My premium went up 45% from last year so I took the common advice to look around and obtained a similar cover for $300 less, with some extra benefits such as reward points and discounts on grocery shopping. For info, I have the top level of no claim bonus and no claims made for many years. Some insurers just take us for a ride. Show details

Truely AMAZING – Truely amazed by the service of AU Post. First time in life I had to ask for a claim and I just gave them a call and told them what happened, just in a quick conversation they approved my claim without any hassle, never thought that it would be that easy and I guess this is how it should be with every car insurance company. They offer lowest… Read more · 1
premium compared to others without compromising the quality of their service. I am really happy that I trusted them and bought insurance despite of their rating and some negative comments. I will stay with them (as long as they continue their customer service and price like this). I wish they include the options of Road Side Assistance, and Rating Protection at competitive price. Highly recommended.
Excellent Service by the claims department – The claim was lodged in March 2019 last week. Few things which is good 1) Very easy to lodge the claim 2) It was placed to the repairer very quickly 3) Repairer took around 7 to 8 days to complete the work on time doing good work 4) I asked for towing the vehicle back to my house and the insurance took care of it very well Show details · 1
Happy – Don’t have any issues, easy to communicate, good customer service, will use them again next year, they not trying to sell anything you don’t need Show details · 1

Parasites – I have been with them for 1 year, made no claims. I got my renewal notice today, they want to raise my premium by 30%. This is for an insurer that doesn't even have a website I can login to, or an app. Absolute trash. Show details
Good for nothing – Its more than 40 days since we cancelled our insurance and haven't received the money back yet (approx $450). Initially I was told I would receive cheque by Post within 15 days of cancellation. Never happened and no trace of it and no tracking number, nothing. I have been following since then. Response is different every time and it ends up with some Senior person would call which never happens. Show details
Shameless increase – I joined Aus Post insurance last year when my previous insurer increased their rates. The price from AP seemed reasonable for an old car. I had an accident soon after which they processed efficiently. I thought I was on to something good here. Now we're a year along the track and the premium is going up by nearly double. I know that rates go up… Read more
after a claim, but this is crazy stuff. There are other providers, e.g. Ahm, RACV and Aldi, that charge less. The new certificate of insurance does not indicate whether I have a new rating because of the accident. The money difference is enough that I'll not continue with AP.
Disappointed. They're getting 3 stars because the claim process went well.

No customer service – I am the victim of an Aus Post (qbe) insured driver who crashed into my parked car. I have been trying for a week to speak with the right department, I’ve called 3 times to be met with 40min + wait times, so requested a call back, have also sent 3 emails - no one is responding. Just awful customer service, but I’m guessing I’d get straight through to the sales team Show details
Rip off and shameless insurer, exhorbitantly expensive – Rip off and shameless insurer, exhorbitantly expensive. Their quote is insanely more expensive than a monor insurer like PD. Would urge AP to close this operation promptly and specilise in selling postage stamps & scratchies. Show details

Don't sign up even if they give it for free, Worst insurance experience – I was on a comprehensive insurance, had an accident. They weren't able to justify it was other party fault. Provided all the documents. No communication for 4 months and later they closed the case. I have been calling them for an update, in the end they said both the parties will pay their access, they put my rating down to 3 No Claim discount. Pathetic. Show details

Worst insurance experience of my life – After 33 years of being a rating 1 driver i was treated like a disobedient teenager over a$250 claim. It was easier and cheaper to settle the matter privately. Have cancelled my policy . Show details
Dodgy and arrogant – Both of my cars have been comprehensively insured with Australia Post for five years or so. Made on claim in March 2020 where it was deemed to be our fault - paid excess and got my car fixed. Just last week received my renewal notice and insurance on both cars went up. One car by around $400 a year and another car by $250 or so. I rand to find… Read more
out why when I have rating 1 why my premium increased so much. The representative of the company gave me general excuses like global warming and other factors. When I pressed she got very upset and told me "this is an offer from us, you can go somewhere if you do not like". Arrogance at its best. What can I say Australia Post you are one of a kind in transparency, customer services and customer loyalty.

Disgraceful Behaviour – Six weeks ago on 22 November 2018, I took out a car insurance policy with Australia Post Insurance and immediately emailed them written confirmation of my No Claims Discount (my current renewal notice) to their Customer Service Department (Auto & General Insurance), as instructed. held a maximum no claim rating. I received a reply email saying that my email had been received and submitted for processing including a reference number.
Over a month later on 27 December 2018 I received a text message from Auto & General stating that they needed my latest renewal offer for me to receive my No Claim Discount even though I had already emailed it to them over a month ago and had proof of receipt from them. That day I emailed their Customer Service Department a copy of their company’s reply email to me on 22 November 2018 proving that they had received written confirmation of my No Claims Discount.
Today, 3 January 2019, I received an email from Auto & General threatening to cancel my Australia Post Car Insurance policy if I didn't send them written confirmation of my No Claims Discount. I emailed their Customer Service Department again, attaching proof of my No Claims Discount as well as proof that they had previously received it.
I have heard nothing from them and will be lodging a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority regarding their disgraceful behaviour. All this just to set up a policy with them. Imagine if I had to make a claim! STAY AWAY from any company that is underwritten by Auto & General Insurance.

Very Unsure customer – After reading these reviews i'm not sure I've made the right decision going with Aust Post. However if you look at Sun Corps review it's not pretty either. remember! I've used this in the past and it works. With the insurance Ombudsman, when they find your right and the insurance company is trying to rip you off they get a fine. So the more people who contact the Insurance Ombudsman with there complaints hopefully the insurance companies will start treating there customers as customers. Sadly in 33 years of paying Insurance as a customer when you call for help the person on the other end treats you as if the money is coming directly out of there pocket. Obviously Insurance companies pay there workers bonuses to stop customers from making claims, also there training is very effective. Just looking at the response from Aust Post not much input there just please call the car insurance team which most people have already done. Why not say to the customer " I'm going to look into this we'll contact you " But this would only happen if the insurance company really cared or were really doing there job. If people are treated as human beings they'll like you and you'll get more business.
Hey Davo1966,

Insurance is useless when they make it just about impossible to make a Claim – How a Reputable Government Organisation like Australia Post, lined itself up with Auto & General Insurance has got me beat. General. I explain the situation and the reply is "you will have to pay full excess $1000, Your premiums will be reviewed next renewal". I told them that the Store Manager had told me, they would claim responsibility.
After a couple of phone calls I asked to speak to "Whoever is your boss".
The next person I spoke to, the team leader, was a bit more aggressive and was starting to make me feel like the accident was all my fault.
A few days later the Shopping Centre claims responsibility in writing.
I phone back the team leader in the Claims office.
The answer is basically the same, saying I will still have to pay $1000 excess, upfront. Even though the Shopping centre are going to pay the whole bill. Aust. Post will review this all later, as to whether I get back my $1000 excess back. My insurance premium will still be reviewed at next renewal, because I have made a claim.
How do you think I felt after all this and a fortnight of hardly any sleep?
I decided to get things done through the shopping centre. I had to run around and get Panel beating quotes.
I put my car into the one with the lowest quote, $3000.
I now have my car back.
Thanks to the Shopping Centre.
No thanks to Australia Post or Auto & General

Bait advertising and quoting. Waste of my time – Went through the entire online quote process. Compared to multiple other quotes and decided that Australia Post (at $869) was cheaper than the nearest competitor Suncorp (at $960) for comprehensive insurance for my teenage son. would now be $1200 as the driver of the car is his QLD green P's. As we had already filled the entire quote out in his name, with his birth date (where he could not legally be an open licence holder in any state or territory anyway) I found this to be nothing short of bait quoting. The fact that he's a teenager and a P plater should not be adding on another $300+ dollars at the point of purchase when his birthdate had already been supplied as the regular driver. Big thanks to Suncorp - rang them and the price of the online quote was exactly what we paid. Get your quoting system up to date Australia Post. It's a waste of my time and yours.
