Never use this company for travel insurance. They are not Australian. They will do and say anything not to pay. Suitcase stolen in Paris and took 8 weeks to settle. Even with a police report they wanted proof from the transport company I used that… Read more
the suitcase was stolen. Had to jump through hoops to finally get paid and then they only paid two thirds of the claim. Do not buy anything with cash when on holiday as they want receipts or bank statement for everything. Too bad that the receipts were in the suitcase with the items purchased. Was treated like a criminal and liar. Common-sense would tell anyone nobody travels without night attire and personal hygiene items but no receipt no reimbursement.
Follow-up · Customer service very poor. Process was not clear as had to jump through hoops to get a payment from them. Final payment was $1000 less than it should have been. Would not pay for items purchased in Spain that were in my suitcase with all the receipts. Common sense should prevail for this. Cannot give receipts when I paid cash and they were stolen… Read more
I took out AusPost Travel Insurance and unfortunately had to use it after injuring my back overseas and being admitted to hospital. I submitted a claim, which was approved, but I have still not received any reimbursement. As a result, I had to pay all medical expenses out of pocket. I am now back in Australia with no money left and outstanding… Read more
bills that I need to pay, placing me in serious financial hardship.
Despite clearly explaining my financial hardship to AusPost Travel Insurance, there has been no urgency or support shown. I have contacted them multiple times and have been given inconsistent explanations — being transferred between different claims teams, told it was with another department, or promised a call back from a case manager that never happened.
After returning to Australia, I was told again that my claim was “with the medical team,” even though I had already been told previously that it had already been reviewed by the medical team. When I asked for clarification, the staff member refused to explain, was extremely rude, and ended the call abruptly. I was simply told to wait another week.
The lack of communication, accountability, and basic empathy has made an already difficult medical situation significantly worse. It is deeply disappointing that AusPost Travel Insurance appears to have no regard for customers facing genuine financial hardship.
I would not recommend this travel insurance based on my experience.
I’ve already spent a significant amount of time completing the online form to submit my claim, but the submission page repeatedly returned an error instructing me to contact Australia Post. Upon the call, the form provided is also not an editable PDF. Therefore, if the online portal is not fixed, I am considering cancelling the policy within the cooling-off period due to the time and inconvenience caused. Show details

I got chest pain when I was traveling overseas. Aus paid for everything---- The whole insurance process was really quick and easy (they didn't ask me to translate to English). Highly recommended. Show details
I recently used Australia Post Travel Insurance for my trip, and I couldn't be more impressed with the service! From start to finish, the process was smooth and hassle-free. The website was easy to navigate, and I was able to choose the right plan for my needs quickly. During my trip, I felt completely at ease knowing that I had reliable… Read more
coverage. Luckily, I didn't have to make a claim, but I know from others that the claims process is straightforward and efficient. The price was competitive, and I felt like I received great value for the protection I was provided.
Overall, I highly recommend Australia Post Travel Insurance for anyone looking for a trustworthy and affordable travel insurance option. It really gave me peace of mind throughout my journey, and I’ll definitely be using them for my future travels!
Excellent service – Got sick and required dr/hospital treatment in Spain when doing the Camino. Emailed the insurance immediately to notify. Waited until I was home to complete details required and upload relevant receipts, I was notified my claim was being handled and it was paid out in full quickly. They even paid the covid/flu test I had to have before being seen by the Dr at the hospital. No complaints here at all. Show details

My Jetstar flight from Singapore to Melbourne in Oct 2025 was cancelled the day before I was due to fly home due to "engineering requirements". I booked a replacement flight with Scoot which was much more expensive (price gouging?) and when I got home I submitted a claim to Australia Post Travel Insurance for reimbursement of the price difference… Read more
in flights. My claim was denied because Australia Post only pays for flights cancelled due to strike action!! My 2 travelling companions were paid out by their travel insurance companies, no questions asked. Fortunately Jetstar refunded the original fare and paid my out of pocket expenses for the more expensive Scoot flight. I have learned a lesson to read the fine print but why Australia Post doesn't provide this basic cover is disappointing. I will NEVER use Australia Post Travel Insurance again and I urge others to think hard and read the fine print before using them.
Good at taking your money but that is where it ends, spend hours on the phone if you have an issue and they will wear you out before they do so, they are good at collecting revenue but offer no service. Their web page is good at collecting money but don't be deceived. Show details
ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS USELESS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. My daughter travelled to the US last year and ended up with a nasty gastro bug. She took herself to an emergency care facility in LA (high heartrate and dizziness over several days which was not resolving) where she had several pretty basic investigations over about three hours (bloods, urine,… Read more
chest xray etc) sent home with a diagnosis of viral infection. She ended up with an $8kUSD medical bill and claimed as soon as she got home in mid-September. You would think this would be a pretty straight forward claim and payout scenario? Think again. Australia Post Insurance did EVERYTHING in their power to avoid paying out on this claim, and it wasn't until I threatened them with the insurance ombudsman 11 months after lodging the claim that they actually made inroads to settle. Previous to that, I had called on my daughter's behalf probably six times over that period and each time was told "the claim is still progressing and we're in negotiations with the medical centre", usually by staff who quite clearly didn't care if I lived or died. It took a WHOLE YEAR of these calls, and then finally threatening the escalation to the ombudsmen to get the claim settled. Absolutely ABYSMAL service - AVOID.

Just a scam – Don't buy it. When you make a claim, they just make you go round and round until you give up. First time they told me to just to provide them an email that I didn't travel..I did that and they told me it needs to be from travel agency confirming it.
Second time I sent the letter from the travel agency confirming the same. This time they tell I need to include in the email from the travel agency the details of the flights that I didn't travel (,which was all).
Third time I sent the letter from the travel agency confirming I didn't travel and then listing all the flights. The agency were baffled themselves on why the previous letter was not accepted.
Now I am told that is not enough and I need to get a statutory declaration signed by an attorney.
To not get another excuse I asked can you provide the text what you require from me signed from the attorney so that it doesn't keep rejecting. They came they can't provide it and will review once submitted.
Just for issuing a voucher for a couple of hundred dollars if this treatment, I can imagine how it would be when I need to make a real claim.
Very disappointed and poor service.
Ongoing claims issue – Awful company and still waiting outcome from an incident in April 2024. No help little contact and they 100% just want to take premium and hang you out when a genuine claim is made. Zurich is underwriter , Australian travel partners are another of the entities. All I can say is stay with reputable people like NRMA or similar. Aus Post travel… Read more
insurance are competitively priced because they simply give no help or actually stick to any of there promises. I contact all the diff departments involved and have not received response or feedback in several months, Ive also complained to the Australian finance and insurance people for help. These guys MUST be avoided. If this reviews help others go elsewhere at least thats a positive. Hopefully no one else has awful experiences as Im having. Just check their other reviews and see how bad they are. If you travel over seas with Aus Post you are taking huge risk.

garbage – The claims process is absolutely appalling. I had a small bag beside me whilst I was in Paris (a theft hot spot) stolen as I was sitting on grass and it was declined on the basis it was left unattended in a public place!! because I mentioned they were with me at the time?? I will be proceeding to the ombudsman as this is no doubt an unfair contract term.... basically they decline any theft that occurs in PUBLIC but where else theft would occur???
Avoid at all cost – One of the WORST decisions I have ever made was choosing Aus Post for travel insurance. I broke my leg during a holiday in Vanuatu. Zero help, been late in responding and the bill is now outstanding and because the use overseas call centres, my calls have continually dropped out.
The email they sent me says they have a different amount on the invoice than what the invoice amount is??? What on earth?? My bill to the cruise ship is now weeks overdue and they take weeks to respond, I am so stressed out.
I am writing this reviews while sobbing my eyes out. Am strongly considering going to media.
Aus Post shonky travel insurance – As expected from a travel insurance company, they will find any reason to not pay a claim. Provided medical certificates, Doctors reports and expenses from a trip to Bali June 2024. Made a claim to be told your excess is more than the claim amount. Please read our super fine print to understand this. Show details

fact the company went into insolvency. It took months to even get a reply I got bounced from Aus post to the insurance company who say it can take 10 buisness days to reply. I followed up multiple time and not until I instigated the ombudsman did I get a reply of denial. Absolutely garbage company
Don’t go with them. Ever – Absolutely appalling - but not surprising considering the other reviews I have just read. I have provided surgical notes - doctor notes and so much more. My doctor is… Read more
appalled and has said that other insurance companies have never requested so much more information - we have already provided so much. 6 weeks in and I’m not giving up. I will contact AFCA and other parties if I have to.
Completely incompetent – They never respond, 3 weeks so far and my claim has gone nowhere. I’m stranded overseas and Aus Post couldn’t be any less helpful if they tried. I’ve reported to AFCA and I will do everything in my power to ensure these people pay for their incompetence. Show details
Don't Buy from Australia Post – had to visit Urgent Care in LA, advised of pre-existing illness before leaving and was covered and issued policy, then when we make a claim for the visit the AP team says "denied, continuation of care." like our circumstances were foreseen, how can you foresee ending up at Urgent Care when you just arrive in USA the day before? Appalling!! – Is there a half star score? Worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. Not worth the money or the paper that it's printed on. Very inefficient call centre every time. Don’t bother – Claim submitted for a Doctors Visit for an acute condition and to have a regular Blood Glucose test for Diabetes at an internationally recognised and accredited Private Hospital. required a prescription based medication. Rather, they are looking to see if the acute condition was a pre-existing that we had not detailed on our application. NB. Diabetes was a pre-existing condition and we paid extra for it to be included.
If this happened back home, a visit to any GP, similar tests ordered, a diagnoses would have made and a script would have been issued.
Geez, based on reviews from others, looks like I should have gone with someone else. Or just not bothered to claim a visit for an acute condition.
Maybe, they need to introduce policies where visits to Doctors that don’t require hospitalisation are excluded to reduce the premium cost and customer frustration.
Very disappointed with my claim process – I travelled overseas and on the way back from Europe. My plane was delayed. I had to spend $3000 getting a new flight back home. they also took out another $250 for my $3000 flight home. They didn’t pay my meal money they didn’t pay my accommodation so this would be the last time I ever use Australia Post Travel insurance I’ve used them a number of times and never had a claim, but this time a $250 excess has cost me $500 excess. I have given him enough time to rectify the issue and they refuse to reply back to my email. I have also reminded them that I will be putting in a review and they were happy with me to do so.
Claim denied, no contact and shocking customer service – Do not use Australia Post travel insurance. I foolishly thought I could trust a large, national brand but boy oh boy was I wrong. via email. I tried to call only to be told that my claim was denied as it was submitted late (which is not true and I have the receipts to prove it) When using the online portal to make a claim their software crashed multitudes of times and made it difficult to submit. This is a typical insurance ploy of making you pay for a service that you will never receive. Their customer support is completely useless, the website does not operate to the point of functionality and it's very difficult to contact them. I would be in a better position both financially and stress wise if I had been robbed without ever taking out an insurance policy. Do NOT use Australia Post. You will regret it. This is a scam.
