overweight by 4 kg. I asked for a new quotation for the same day and destination, and they confirmed it should only cost an additional $10—bringing the total to $235, not extra $245.
Despite repeated requests, they refused to refund the overcharge, offering excuses instead of a solution. I have now sought legal advice and am prepared to take this matter to small claims court.
Important: Do not use your credit card with this company. Be very cautious—they do not honor their quotes and can charge you more than agreed.
I was charged an additional $200 on top of what I already paid. When I first contested it they claimed it was that my measurements didnt match the estimation. When I went and checked, it was 5cm out on one side of box. They came back to say that I didn't pay for door to door service. I re-ran the quote through their website and found the problem.
During the online booking, I selected a home address. But on the next screen of the website, when the quote appears, it defaults to a "depot-to-depot" price, without it being obvious that the service level has changed or that you need to manually update the selection before proceeding.
If you don't double check the fine print underneath, you will hit "select booking" and not realise that you are paying for depot to depot rather than door to door, then they will slap you with an additional fee.
I contested it with their customer service- but they did not budge.
I have since read several reviews on google for this company, stating the same problem happened to them. They have since disabled their google reviews, so I can't add my review.
It feels very misleading.

from my credit card (without my consent) for incorrect dimensions. My package dimensions were correct and verified by a 2nd party. States on their website that they can charge you extra, if your dimensions are incorrect but when I asked for proof of this there was no response. I have lodged a complaint with ACCC & Dept of consumer affairs instead. If you must use this company take photographs of all your dimensions before you send anything with them.

I chose the longest delivery option as the price was was very reasonable, it arrived very quick and was in great condition. Unbelievable disaster- I had my reservations when I read the reviews but as I was under time pressure. I crossed my fingers and took a chance with BHF Express. I followed the instructions to the letter: wrapped the parcel firmly, with extra reinforcement and packing around four paint tins, brand new, never opened. It had a lot of packing tape… Read more
around all sides and was labelled "Paint" It's obvious something very heavy was dropped on the parcel, or it was dropped from a height onto a hard surface and also gouged along the side of the parcel. It was left out in the rain, or in a wet space, for days looking at the condition of the parcel in the image - now mangled, broken and spilling paint. It is now 22 days since it left Northcote and it still hasn't arrived - not due until the 23rd April, another six days, if then. Reminds me of express trains in India... one could walk faster. I took photos before I left and also had it weighed and measured at my post office. Not anticipating any extra charges, according to the shipper/owner [Name Removed]- that will really trigger a thorough investigation of this firm. I was told by them that they are a small family business. Might I suggest a change of occupation.
Horrific – This company is the worst, the women in the office are rude and incompetent, they charge you big money for nothing! As Dreadful As the Other Reviews Say – Took $227 extra out of my bank account because they claimed I had miscalculated or misrepresented the dimensions of the package. I am an engineer and can use a micrometer accurately. The original quote was just over $600. They took 33% extra without my permission. They said they investigate. way, then they didn't recognise the booking number. After several phone calls - because they constantly told me they would ring me back - and they never did - I found it had been delivered. The person who received the parcel said it was ripped and damaged - "like it has been tossed around a lot". Luckily, nothing inside was broken. This cost me $89!!! And when I objected to the cost, they basically said "tough luck, eh?" Do not use this company!

They were the cheapest, but ultimately we threw 6k down the drain using them. Goods arrived a week late, with severe water damage that destroyed the goods. Our customer notified us of the issue outside of BHF's 48 hour claim period (which was not on the invoice or email chain), and so they have wiped their hands clean of the event. obnoxious. I requested a refund since they hadn’t even picked up the parcel by the third day and did manage to speak to the “manager” who agreed to refund my money, but not until I demanded it.
But then I got a call from “[Name Removed]” who said “you must have a lot of time on your hands” — the insinuation being that I had no right to complain, and because I got a refund by quoting the right consumer laws, and because I replied to an email which insinuated that it’s all somehow my fault? I had to hang up on him because he wouldn’t stop — after which he sent me a telling not to contact BHF again as it was I who made that call and not him. I rang again at 12:30 that they even rang a driver to book the job! So at 12:30 the consultant scrambled to get a driver, telling me I was guaranteed pickup within the next two hours. There was no pickup. Many phone calls later with a very rude ‘manager’ ([Name Removed]) I still was told a NEW time that the driver was going to be there. He came over an hour later than this. [Name Removed] (?) aggressive response was ‘I should have paid extra for a confirmed pickup time’ I was never offered this service in the 9 times I rang BHF.
Expect to be DOUBLE CHARGED weeks later!! – This company, as others have said is a scam. I sent a 4wd lift kit to Sydney. I dropped it at the depot. It weighed 70kg. than 15 minutes from my home. I questioned why it wasn't delivered to my home as per the purchase and never got a reasonable answer to that. Anyway the next day I received an sms from BHF Couriers advising my parcel was at their depot 78km from my home which for me is 1 hour each way on a good day on the Bruce Highway and if it wasn't picked up within 2 days I would be charged $100 a day storage. I called the seller, who then contacted the company and it was arranged for it to be delivered on the Friday just gone, I believe the seller had to pay an extra cost for this to be delivered to my home. I was advised I would need to be home to assist the driver in lifting the item as it was 35kg, they could not give me a delivery time but the driver would call when he was an hour away. As I never received a further tracking number and was just advised by the seller that it should be delivered by COB on Friday, I called BHF to confirm delivery would be effected, but they did advise that it could be after 5pm. Later in the day, I had a missed call and voice message at 2.30pm advising that the delivery could not be completed due to driver being blocked from accessing the pick up point and that delivery would be effected on Monday. I called back immediately and asked for the delivery to be changed to the Tuesday as I had an appointment on Monday and could not guarantee to be at the premises on Monday to assist the driver with the lifting of the item. They confirmed that it would be delivered on Tuesday but just for my own piece of mind I called BHF again Monday morning at 9am to confirm delivery was scheduled for the Tuesday so I could be home to assist, which was confirmed. Imagine my surprise when I returned home to find the delivery just under my carport, where it was in full view of the street where it looked like it was just tipped off the truck as close as they could get to my carport. I then had to move this by myself so I could get into my carport properly. Interestingly, after being advised I would be contacted by driver an hour before delivering, there was no missed call or sms message advising they were on the way.
scammers – This company is a total scam, they quoted an initial price of 108 AUD, until 2 weeks later they charged me 240 AUD extra for no reason, more than 1 month ago they do not respond about my refund. Be careful with these kind of scammers. Show details
They will scam you! – Scamming business, underquoted initially, once delivered they automatically charged an unauthorized amount through PayPal. They claim incorrect dimensions but all of our boxes were bought from Bunnings, same dimensions and less than 25kg as per the initial quote request. Beware - Rip Offs - avoid these people – We organised for these couriers to pick up a heavy floor rug which is a family heirloom. It was to be picked up from the Illawarra & delivered to Canberra. i was told the parcels dimensions were larger than i had stated. Do not make my mistake. They asked me to send them a photo of another box 700x350x350. I thought they were joking. When querying it they wouldn't listen to me but kept interupting the conversation. Stay clear of this mob!
Very sloppy and fishy company – I used BHF the first time to freight my luggage from South Australia to Victoria. I chose the depot-to-depot method and on the day I have to transport my luggage to them, after my payment it took 8 calls before I can receive the labels to stick to my luggage. and called and was told I could pick up next week without waiting for their message. The day before I picked up I called again and learned that I need a Consignment number to pick up (which they didn't tell me in my last call).
10 days after I picked up my stuffs they sent me another extra invoice charging me another 50% of the original invoice claiming the weight is 2.9 instead of the declared 2.0 cubic meters. This is blatantly illegal as they suppose to check the weight before they accept my luggage and I was very careful to weight and declare them (usually declare a bit of extra for the safe side).
Do not use this company, not only they are very sloppy and unprofessional, they will charge your credit card indiscriminately and arbitrarily.

Great freight service...if you do the right thing – No sooner had I booked our freight delivery from Darwin to Sydney through BHF than I read these negative reviews online. I was understandably nervous. I rang BHF to make sure we wouldn't have the same experience and I was assured we wouldn't. So we followed their advice and were VERY THOROUGH. Measuring to the exact centimetre and weighing precisely each item, writing it down and photographing every box and suitcase with the cosignment note for each one well sticky taped in place.
And the result? My experience was 5 star all the way...great service, on time and everything done with a smile. No overcharging and nothing too hard.
So take my advice, make yourself responsible; do the right thing at your end and you shouldn't have any problems. Quite the opposite, you should have a great experience.
