12 years old and hadn't had any trouble till now – Have been very happy with this dishwasher. It has unfortunately stopped powering on and think it needs a new control panel, which will potential cost around $350 plus installation, so am opting to get a new one because of its age. Show details
E09 error – Our BOSH dishwasher has started giving E09 error, reading online it seems a very common error and lots of people complaining. I fail to understand how come BOSH hasn't been able to fix this issue. Its so frustrating after trusting & spending so much still they cant deliver quality. I wonder how much will be the repair bill or should i just replace it with something more reliable!! Show details
Same problem as other users! – It seems that my Bosch dishwasher has fallen to the same troubles as many other purchasers of this brand. The dishwasher was working fine until it started to lose power and automatically shut off mid cycle. It then took up to two days to finish the cycle and now it won't finish at all. I have rung technicians and they suggest throwing it out as… Read more
the part is $400-500 and labour another $140, over half the price of another dishwasher! In this day and age of environmental concern, waste and landfill excess, the only option it seems is for me to throw out an otherwise working dishwasher because of the expense of a part that Bosch must know wasn't up to standard. I bought a Bosch on recommendation of their product name, but it hasn't lived up to my expectation at all. Very disappointed.

Thinking about upgrading – Have had my dishwasher for 12 yrs now without a problem that’s my 2nd bosh dishwasher that’s been perfect. Have just done a kitchen Reno and thinking its time to upgrade to a new 8 series. Show details
Decent product – Not a bad product, cleans well, very less noise, electricity consumption is great, cleans ok, have been using for 6 years without any issues, easy to operate, overall happy with the service Show details · 1
after 5 years similar issues to others – half way thru cycle and sometimes close to the end, trips our safety switch we have been very happy with the product, we even purchased oven/stove bosch. can't afford at the moment to call technician, what to do next? we have a 6 month old baby, and we really need it. Was OK for a few years – My German manufactured Bosch dishwasher worked really well for a few years but then the water stopped heating which in turn stopped the machine from doing its cleaning job. I guess this means the heat pump has died. We've been using it for the past 8 years as a storage device but due to circumstances now need a functioning dishwasher again. I'm wondering if it's worth getting repaired or am I better off scrapping it?? Show details
Good when it worked, but broke down 3 times – The dishwasher did everything it was supposed to do, until the faults started. Machine is 6 years old now and has been repaired twice in the last 2 years, with this third and final breakdown now ending it's life. First two times it was the bottom seal which had developed a leak causing an E14 error. Each time the repair cost around $200 + call out… Read more
fees. Now the diverter valve is stuck and the machine will only wash the top rack. Replacement part is $300 plus call-out and labour costs. This is effectively an end of life repair for the machine, meaning the repair costs now exceed the machines value. Purchase price + repair costs mean this is a $2000+ machine with about a 6 year life?

Good for about 6yrs – When we bought this, it was great - much quieter than our previous dishwasher but over time it's slowly becoming an expensive item. Problems started after 6years. Initially the water wouldnt drain, and after some diagnosis I was pretty sure it was the reed swtich (simple repair, but still costs $300). Now a few mths later, the fan heater seems… Read more

Water circulation pump (aka heat pump) impeller failure in ~ 6 years of use – Removed and replaced the pump myself. Cost of the pump $175.00 sourced from Bosch online parts which was delivered the next day. Dismantled the old pump to check what went wrong and found the impeller blade legs which lock into the holes in the rotor have deformed and the impeller started slipping over the rotor and therefore a significant drop in… Read more
output water pressure. A couple of months prior to the failure I would get E22 error code on the display, right at the end of the cycle, which basically relates to a blocked filter but the filter was always clean coz I look after my appliances and clean the filter thrice a week and also lightly rinse the dishes before stacking them in the washer....I now wonder whether that error had something to do with dropping performance of the main water circulation pump until it (the water pressure) came down to a dribble. Thanks to YouTube I found a video on how to replace the pump on this model of dishwasher, just made it a whole lot easier. I just hope I get another couple of years of trouble free service now that the main pump has been replaced. I like the product but like most people who have commented here, even I had a completely different expectation from Bosch in terms of product reliability (though this model is not made in Germany...I think it's made in Spain)....guess it's the "theory of obsolescence" at work!!!
I agree with the person who has commented in one of the reviews that you only realize how much you will miss your dishwasher once it stops working!!!! :-)
Disappointing – It has been just over 4 years we had this dishwasher, but it started tripping the RCD during the water cycle. As soon as it start to spray water 5 minutes into the cycle it stops and shutting my whole house electricity down. Very annoying as I had to find out which made this issue and finally figure it’s the dishwasher. Contacted few technicians… Read more

Was great until the day it wasnt! – It seems that the 6 year mark is the end of life for these dishwashers! Error messages and now just not working at all. Very disappointed. Just lasted 6 years – Exactly after 6 years heat water pump became faulty (Error E04). Had to pay $550 (call out labour and parts). We bought this because of Bosch band and Made in Germany tag but it appears that quality had gone down in the drain. Not buying Bosch anymore.. Sorry.. Show details
Same problem being experienced – We have a SMS63MO8AU and have the common fault where dishwasher switches off and takes many hours to complete a cycle Please advise on what you will do to repair as it is a common fault with this model and have been advised to replace the motherboard. Called Bosch and have been quoted $90 call out fee plus $9 for every 6mins. Just ridiculous how expensive the repair would be for a machine that we forked out $1200 only 6yrs ago going off the brand name that was “apparently” German-made.
Have done some research & it sounds like E09 is a very common error with this model no. Very disappointed that looking at the significant high price compared to other brands - they’re not made to last longer than the 5-6yrs span & not worth getting repaired either!

years old so we were obviously reluctant to replace such a young machine and therefore went ahead with the repair. Unfortunately the E15 error has reappeared. I have called Bosch Service and they advised me to try a youtube video on “Bosch waste water pumps” which now has triggered the E09 error. We really love this Bosch machine but we are really disappointed how long it has lasted before it needed repairs in the first instance, let alone requiring repairs again. At the moment, it is being used as an overpriced dish drying rack while we decide what to do next. We most certainly wouldn’t have gone ahead with $400 of repairs for an extra 9 months of use.

Losing power during cycle – Seems my problem is a known problem with quite a few bosch dishwasher owners. Cycle starts the no display/power after a few minutes. Restarts again after maybe 10 mins, or 1 hour or 1 day then switches off again. One cycle has been going on for over 24hrs now between the stopping and the restarting of the cycle. Designed to last only 5 years! – Picked this dishwasher because of 'Made in Germany' tag. Now it stops mid wash. Called Bosh for help as listed here but they charge $88 call out and $9.90 every 6 minutes + parts. Funny at how many others have had their dishwasher stop working after 5 years as maybe it's been programmed into the PC board! Show details

Designed to last only 7 years – Ran well until it broke down 2 years after purchase. Then the pump started leaking and shorting out about 8 years after purchase. The repairer said Bosch are designed to last only 7 years!! So we got a bonus 1 year. Not worth repairing as it would cost more than the new one. So much for Bosch's claim to German quality! Error E01 - looks like the power module – Had this dishwasher almost 7 years now and for 3 of those, it has not worked. First issue which cost me $400 to repair lasted 4 months before it stopped again. At this point in 2015 I could not afford another service so I left it. Finally this week had a serviceman (freebie) look at it and he tells me that its an E01error and that could cost… Read more
another $500plus to repair as the power module needs replacing-and this may not be the only fault. I struggled to purchased this well known brand expecting it to be quality, but it has turned out to be a pile of expensive rubbish. Looks like i will have to continue handwashing our dishes again until I can afford a replacement-WHICH WILL NOT BE A BOSCH. Obviously the saying " you get what you pay for" is incorrect, as I probably would have got better performance out of a cheaper brand and when it breaks down, you buy another one for the cost of bosch parts. As you can sense, I'm not impressed with Bosch brand.
Another one just like all the others – Have been happy with the performance of dishwasher over past 5+ years; is quiet running and does well what a dishwasher should do - clean dishes. That is until it just stopped, no power at all. When emptying dishes found water still in the bottom of machine. Tried to reset and drain but would not turn on - no power. checking plug, outlet etc. to no avail. After 'Googling' assumed that problem was the power control board; rang technician and they gave us a courtesy call back to let us know that there will be a $195 call out fee as well as the likely responsible part has quote of $500-600!!! to supply and install. Considering the machine cost over $1000 I find myself thinking, is it worth getting fixed. Where has the reliability and longevity for appliances gone especially when one feels they are buying a reputable 'made in Germany' brand such as Bosch? As a new dishwasher (even another Bosch if one is willing to take the risk) can be purchased for the cost of the repair, this may be the way I am heading. And I hate that this is my best option, because I care about cost to the environment. I thought European brands like Bosch did too, but perhaps 'built-in obsolescence' is just way too much of a money spinner. Unhappy.

Not happy – Only 4 years old when it failed the first time. Replaced the flow meter in side tank. Now 5 years old & has no power at all went to turn it On & nothing. I am reluctant to call a service man as going by reviews sounds like the power board & around $500 to repair. you would expect these appliances to last longer concidering the money you fork out for them. Not at all good – This unit was only 3 to 4 years old when it died and has been used once to twice a week during that time. To be fair it did a good job while it worked. This originally cost around the $1200 mark and can be repaired for $450, same problem with the power module that most seem to experience. I thought that Bosch (German made) would be a safe bet,… Read more
apparently not as it appears to have a weakness in the power module and this as a replacement part is stupidly expensive for what it is. Do the math and it works out that a new cheaper dishwasher is actually a better deal, cheaper than replacing Bosch parts every 3 to 4 years! Went looking at dishwashers in Goodguys making noises about not wanting another Bosch and the salesperson said "none of them last much longer than 4 to 5 years". This further makes a cheapie a good deal provided that it works OK and most of them seem to. Bosch absolutely know that they have a power module problem, they get rich from the replacements. It's bad business to not provide a better experience to their customers. No more German made for me!

Not to be used as a mouse trap – Having had this dish washer for nearly four and a half years without an issue we couldn't have been happier. know people always seem to come on to these sites to post their negative reviews and I had considered doing the same but I ended up trying to fix our issue myself and considering the cause of the issue I couldn't really lower my rating.
Long story short we received an E15 error code which at first looked like the machine was having trouble draining, pump constantly whirring away etc.. If you don't want to read the fix skip to the end.
After some online research it showed that it was a water leak of some sort in to the bottom of the machine, tried all the solutions of pulling the machine out, tipping it back and forth 45 degrees, no help. Pulled the lower front kick panel off, opened the door to clean the seals and found a dead mouse stuck in the lower seal of the door... what the hell.. has this mouse caused water to leak in to the bottom of the machine? Error code still not going away. Took the lower metal panel off that is under the door, behind the kick panel previously removed.. oh wow.. mouse nest central. The mouse had removed some of the insulation from the door and made a nest, eaten through one of the counter weight ropes, and had eaten a chunk of a styrofoam pad that acts as a water float that triggers a microswitch in the bottom of the machine (this is what's being triggered to tell the machine that it's being flooded and to turn off the water and constantly run the pump to drain). Having cleaned out the bottom of the machine of the nest and what foam I could.. error message still showing.. OK time to get serious. Disconnected the microswitch from the bottom, removed, removed the foam pad, and under the pad were all the tiny water soaked foam particles which were forcing the foam float upwards, to be constantly triggering the flood switch. After making some modifications to the vacuum cleaner in the form of duct taping a length of flexible hose on to the end to suck up all the tiny foam pieces.. put the remainder of the pad, switch, panels back in place. NO ERROR MESSAGE!
Machine works as it did the first day we got it. And if it wasn't for a mouse getting in and trying to utterly destroy our machine we never wouldn't have had any issues. These days, for appliances that are out of warranty there is near unlimited online resources for fixing things like this as well as plenty of parts online. If we face any other issues in the future I will be working on it again as it's fairly easy to work on actually.. Anyway, you never really appreciate your dish washer until you've had one and it's been out of action for a while.
Edit 2025: Dishwasher lasted for 11 years all up until the heating element blew. Pretty good run considering the mice tried to destroy it early on.
Thanks Bosch!

with it over the years, and obviously they don't build things to last like they used to.
But overall, we were happy with the dishwasher as a whole. We just purchased a new Bosch dishwasher today very similar to what we had. We liked how clean everything washed, as well as how the placement of our dishes etc in the washer.
Note: be sure to regularly (monthly) clean the inside filter out as it often gets food caught in there which can cause issues with cleanliness. Same as any item, they need maintenance.
Error code E:04 – We decided to instal a Bosch dishwasher, rather than other brands we'd used, because of their reputation. Made the mistake of thinking the price point would give us longevity. it started to switch off randomly in the middle of a cycle. It would stay off for a while and then wake up again and continue. The cycles were taking over a day to complete. down again. Sometimes it will restart itself after several hours of inactivity, but again shuts down shortly after.
This washer was purchased through our builder some time in 2013 and we started using it from October 2013 when we moved into our new house. As a retired couple we only use it once per day so not really a lot of use compared to a family situation.
We thought we had selected a rather expensive (around $1100) good, reliable machine at the time and have since been so happy with it that we have convinced both our daughters and others to buy Bosch. Hope they have better luck.
I have contacted Bosch, and spoke to a nice lady. I was advised that as it is outside the warranty period of 2 years we don't seem to be covered in any way and the Bosch referred electrical service people said we will be up for around $93 (+ $23 per 15 mins) to visit and diagnose the problem .. plus parts... probably about $300 to $400 for a power control module based on others experiences on this site. I wonder how the Australian Consumer Law applies.
Hmm ..not happy to have to spend that much on a machine that hasn't done much work .. undecided what to do. Probably most economic option is to replace unfortunately.
To expensive to repair simple issues – If you want it to last more than 6+ years, stay away from Bosch. At the price point, these should last 10+ years, they are not cheap. This machine has a very basic design flaw, always had issues with the drain blocking, Error E24, it was al least twice a month from new. But this is not the biggest problem. Two major issues Bosch need to fix.… Read more
1. Diagnosing what is causing a problem from their error code is pointless because it could mean many different things.
2. Price of parts, WOW!!! For something that would cost them $5.00 to make you pay $200.00, yep, a 4000% mark-up. The aqua-tap is a cheap solenoid with some hose, a tap fitting and some wire but $200.00 later ..... and to make it worse the filter system is cheap rubbish, it was designed to fail!
My Issue
Got a constant Error code E24. It appears a lot on forums with the same question 'What does it mean'. Well, it could mean one or more of several parts are faulty or there are other issues, but nothing specific. I'm an electrician with appliance repair experience and I can't find the specific issue without taking the entire thing apart a testing all parts, many hours. If you were to replace all possible faulty parts under this code it would cost more than a new machine, why? The control board alone is $420.00 (a $25.00 part).
This is the second Bosch appliance that has failed and been to expensive to repair before the 10 year mark. Will not buy Bosch again because of it.
Very Disappointed – Was quite happy with my Dishwasher which I purchased in December 2011 at about $1200.00 - however only 5-1/2 years on and the Motherboard needs replacing at a cost of approximately $400.00. Thought about having it repaired but decided on putting the money towards new. But definitely not going to pay the extra for a Bosch based on my experience. Show details
