We used the pet insurance for Mika’s annual checkup. Very easy and straightforward process with our vet who lodged the claim for us. The amount subsidized was a great surprise too and was paid out to me very quickly! Have recommended Bow Wow Meow to friends who have pets. Receipts have always been provided with our claims and there has never been any query from Bow Wow and payments have usually been made within 3-4 business days. BWM said they were seperate conditions and allocated the $500 excess to each invoice meaning we barely got anything back. I had to phone BWM after every visit as the vet told us BWM didn’t pay anything towards the bill. Every time I fought the cause arguing on the phone how unfair this was and an absolute con! My complaint went to the review and I’m getting a refund of nearly $800. I wonder how many people just give up because it’s too hard?? Won’t insure my next animal with them. Even the vet said BWM are the hardest to deal with. Do not recommend BWM. Unnecessarily difficult. At 15 your dog gets diagnosed with heart failure it is heart breaking and then you have the added angst of dealing with BWM!

dentals at an early age, which are vital to maintain their health, so an insurance company that covered dentals was a big priority for me. My fur baby is only 4 years old now, and she has already had two dentals and both were covered. The claim process was so easy to do online, but with larger bills, I get my vet clinic to process it on the spot, which is done within 15 minutes, and all I had to do was pay the gap. The insurance plan I chose, covers 80% of the cost, which is significant with a $2,000 dental bill. Although pet insurance is quite expensive in itself, the relief it gives me is unmeasurable. My dog is my everything, and sacrificing insurance payments every two weeks, is a small price to pay for the peace of mind I have, knowing she is medically covered. My financial position is not good, living on a pension, but I was able to nominate the day the payments come out and the gap fees are achievable for me to save for, or pay off. I never have to worry about the vet bill, which is a significant relief, during an already stressful time when your pet is sick or injured, so I recommend that even if you are financially struggling, it is an investment you need and won’t regret. The only thing cheaper than pet insurance, is religiously putting money aside every payday, solely for future vet care, but if you’re anything like me, and saving large amounts of money for lengthy periods of time, is near impossible not to dip into, then pet insurance is definitely the best option.

and was unable to resolve my issue during that call.

I contacted Bow Wow Meow to discuss policy differences, as my current policy has an excess per condition, while newer policies apply a yearly excess. After initially speaking with the overseas call center, I was later connected with Kim in Australia, who was professional, clear, and helpful. Kim took the time to explain the policy thoroughly, offered to waive three months of premiums as a goodwill gesture, and noted my preference to speak with local agents in future. I genuinely appreciated her assistance and communication.

Despite this, the overall value of the policy is inadequate. My premium has increased from approximately $30 per month to $145 per month. As my pet is now nearly 13 years old, changing insurers or policies is not a practical option due to cost. I could not even change within Bow Wow Meow for a slightly better policy they now offer.

Additionally, on a recent claim totaling $850, the reimbursement amount was $352, which did not meet my expectations given the long-term premiums paid. In my view, I would have been better off setting aside the equivalent of my policy premiums in a personal savings account, as financially I would definitely be in a stronger position.

While I acknowledge the helpful service provided by one staff member, my overall experience suggests that Bow Wow Meow no longer offers the level of value or service I would expect. Based on this experience, I would not recommend them.

At the end, he went to his managers and they reviewed our policy and came back with a better combination of premium, excess, payment terms etc that we could afford. And they maintained the coverage we needed for our fur baby. This is quite unique. And I have never experienced this in the insurance business before. Nor have I ever written a review like this. So if you are concerned about your poet insurance and cannot afford the automatic renewal they send out, give them a call and talk about your circumstances. If you're lucky enough to get Arman, he will listen and help you find a solution. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Bow Wow Meow. Hamish is a Maltese Shitzu. He is 6 now. He is my baby. This is the 2nd dog we have insured with Bow Wow Meow. Hamish suffers from ear infections and allergies. Annual premiums have become unaffordable! – Their renewal premiums increase dramatically each year. This year's policy was due to increase for 2 pomeranians, by over $1500.
