Breville Quick Time BIC300

Great product – Excellent. Breville have improved. This product does what it says it will do. Amazingly responsive to temperature adjustments. Does simmer quite rapidly on the lower settings but not a problem for myself. Brings water to boil in a few minutes. Nice design compared to similar products. I can say, that once you have used induction cooking, you won't go back. Temp setting and timer are also very useful. Did buy new cookware after testing with a small cheap induction pan.
No regrets Easy to use, easy to clean... Cooks brilliantly. Nothing. Would like a double element option...
Gives all the convenience of induction cooking at a very low price – The cooktop in my rented flat is a ceramic coil hotplate that, like all cooktops of this sort, takes forever to heat the saucepan and even longer (if that's possible) to cool down. Having previously used induction, I was missing its enormous benefits - very fast, very energy efficient. So I went out and bought a Breville BIC300 portable induction hotplate. Induction cooking is the most energy efficient of the lot - even more efficient than gas, with the same instant response of gas and a million times easier to clean than gas.
I was delighted with the value - paid $180 for it and that included a stainless steel saucepan in the pack. As I wanted a saucepan exactly this size, it was a huge bonus.
Firstly the hotplate: you can specify power by either a power scale (1 to 10) or by temperature. In addition, for each, you can select a timer. At the end of the time (if you use it), it beeps and turns the hotplate power off. As expected, it's very fast - boiling water is probably faster than boiling the same amount in an electric jug.
When I turned my boiling water down to power level 1 to simmer, the simmer was a bit high - seemed to go on and off, not as good as my (very expensive but brilliant) inbuilt Miele induction at my previous place, but it cost a tiny fraction of the Miele.
Like all induction hotplates it's dead easy to clean as the hotplate itself only becomes hot by being in touch with the hot saucepan. Controls are simple to use - an on-off button and a selection for power/temp/timer and a dial to control each of the modes.
The saucepan: Seems to be a good quality s/s saucepan - about medium size. I've used it several times and it cleans easily.
All in all, a highly worthwhile product, like so many Breville products I've bought over the years (No, I don't work for them!). Entirely fit for purpose, fast, easy to use and excellent value (with the saucepan). Lowest power level still a bit high for simmering water. Like all induction hotplates, you need magnetic saucepans (e.g. stainless steel, cast iron) - not a 'con' but something to keep in mind.
A fan operates when you start cooking but the fan is quite quiet. It has never disturbed me. I would say it's quite a bit quieter than my microwave. By the way, the hotplate is still working perfectly after more than 2 years and is still the only cooktop I use.
This is really helpful, thanks!
