Brita Optimax Cool

Very good! – It is a convenient way to have fresh filtered water without the need to install anything in your kitchen which is very good for people who are renting like me. It takes a bit of space of your fridge though which wasn't a problem for me. Show details
Cant live without it! – Bought cheap from Mitre10 and have never regretted this purchase. Am absolutely pleased with this and will never buy water or drink from the tap again! Kids love it aswell. Our container is topped up atleast 3x a day and I even use it to make my babys bottles. Highly recommend Brita. Show details
Good tasting water – I bought one of these some time back and it's been a real boon. I also have their slimline jug for going on holidays and using filtered water in motels. Once you've tasted Brita filtered water unfiltered water tastes awful. I can get filters for both of them from my local Bunnings. Show details
Saving an absolute bundle on bottled water! – Bought the Brita Optimax Cool in December 2017, we kept drinking all the bottled water and it was cheaper to buy a soft drink. Drinking soft drink did nothing for our health. Then we discovered the Optimax Cool at Bunnings. It was not expensive, in fact, we saved the cost within 4 weeks of using it. The water tasted 100% better than the… Read more
Adelaide tap water, which anyone from Adelaide knows is horrible.
And the best thing is we can keep filling water bottles for a fraction of the cost of buying them. The Optimax Cool holds 8.5 litres of water, so satisfies a thirst for up to 4 people per day without a refill.
Convenient and good quality – It’s a great step up from the water jugs. We just keep ours in the fridge. Brita also have bulk specials on the filters so you can often get them for $8 each. The water has a good taste and having the large jug means refills aren’t super frequent. Maybe once every 2 days for a 2-person household. Good buy. Show details
Very useful – I have been using it now for 2 years, very practical, very easy to clean, and its size is perfect, makes me able to put it in the fridge. The only drawback is the price of the filters, but if you are savvy enough you can wait for the sale and promotions and get two for the price of one. Show details
Love the size – I have been using Brita products for many years & have always been very happy. The Brita Optimax Cool is fantastic because it holds a decent amount of water so you don't have to constantly fill it up. I have recently moved to Melbourne and I think the water is very different to the water in Perth. I'm mentioning this because I often have to… Read more
regularly wash out the container because sometimes fine brown sediments sit at the bottom of the water filtered water container.
Overall a fantastic product and would definitely recommend.
Finally, a water filter with decent capacity – I was given this as a Christmas present. It is sitting on the top shelf of my fridge, and supplies cold, filtered water all day. I fill it up at night so it has time to cool down by the next morning. The huge capacity means the cold water lasts all day, unlike previous models that would run out really quickly. Beware, though, that due to the huge… Read more
capacity, a full unit is very heavy, so be sure the fridge shelf is strong enough to support it. I've had other Brita products in the past, and haven't been too impressed with them, but this time they seem to have the design and function sorted out.
Wish i had got the Optimax sooner – My wife and I use the Optimax, instead of buying bottled water... quality of the water is fantastic, and great for making tea and coffee, don't get that white scum on the tea and it does make it taste so much better, also do not get the scale build up in the kettle. Previously we were using bottled water, and looked at the costs, was spending… Read more
120-200euros a month on bottled water... now spending a 10th of the amount, with additional water usage included. So happy with the quality we have now purchased a Britta permanent filter installation for our new house. So clean great tasting water straight from the tap. so the Optimax will go to my office. Great product, Thanks Britta.
Brilliant!!! – At last a water filter/chiller that works - after years of having bench top electric ones that were never satisfactory this is a fantastic alternative - great capacity, chills the water in the top reservoir so always plenty of cold water - easy to fill and keep clean - Love it Show reply
Brilliant filter and water storage – I've had this for about a year. I've had no problems with the product at all. The cask size is pretty good. I have mine on the bench as it wont fit into my fridge which can be a pain because of its size. But to just have a few bottles in the fridge of clean water is a God send. Easy to clean. Your coffee and cooked veges taste way different. Try… Read more
not to pay much attention to the LCD counter on top. The counter will display filter runout pretty quickly. I just keep a time and date of new filter on the whiteboard. As others have said, the filters do last for about 2 to 2.5 months and that's the recommended time frame from the manufacturer as well. The filters are easily obtainable from appliance stores and even some supermarkets stock the filters.
It would be nice to have everything chilled if you have a decent sized fridge where the whole thing can fit in but if space is at a premium, a few bottles in the fridge wont go amiss.
I totally recommend the Brita Optimax Cool. Its a good investment to have for the whole family.
Still Tastes Like Tap Water to me – I do some work at a business who has one of these Brita Optimax filters sitting in their fridge, and while the water does seem to be clear, which means it does seem to at least filter out the sediment, it still tastes pretty much like tap water and definitely still has fluoride in it. I am probably spoilt having used another brand of filter that… Read more
does a much better job for the past few years (and will only drink other water when I really, really need to) so overall I call this the lazy person's filter, for the person who isn't willing to spend the time or money to research and buy themselves a decent water filter, (which is kinda funny as it seems the cartridges in these need replacing as often as an old inkjet printer). Like anything you do get what you pay for, and this is relatively cheap when it comes to water filters, so it's not bad overall I guess, but then when I do compare it with all the other water filters available that only cost a fraction more that remove Fluoride as well then I figure it only deserves a 2.5 out of 5, however 2 makes it bad, and it's probably just ok, so went with 3, which is ok.
Wow smart move, me – What can you say. 5 out of 5. Like Louisa above I have had filter jugs. I thought the cask style was good and it is so useful. It is clean water 'on tap' . I fill the kettle from it and the water bottle before the going cycling or golf. I purchased a 1.25 litre water jug and that sits beside it to fill daily. I top up a glass water bottle and… Read more
place that in be fridge for chilled water. I fill the ice tray from it.
The base is non slip and the size is just perfect. I looked at the round ones but this is very stable sits firmly on the microwave With the flat top I put 2 glasses upside down for easy access. It is not quite BBQ season in Auckland yet but I think I will take the unit outside and put on the table with glasses, plates etc.
Like other people I agree the LCD calculator is best ignored which I did on a previous water jug anyway. I just have a 2 month bring up on the computer.
Final word: Superb.

Love it, filtered water always on tap! – Always loved the filter jugs but the cask is just so much more convenient as you don't need to fill up as often! Chilled, filtered water is always available in our house with no hassle
Top product – I'm very satisfied with this product. I feel the advantage this clear sided filter jug has over the other types on the market that don't have transparent sides is that you can see the quality of the water inside the jug and how clean the jug is. I would not trust drinking water from a jug that I cannot see the condition of it inside. It may have scum build up etc. Clean and clear. Lid a bit tight, maybe a slide lid would work better.
Excellent – This water filter is very handy to have on the kitchen bench and because of its convenience, you tend to want to drink more water, which is good for your health. The water is free of the chlorine smell and any other smells you sometimes get from tap water and clear of any particulate matter. Water is soft and tastes better than the bottled water… Read more
that you buy outside. Just fill an empty bottle with the filtered water and save heaps of money. Clean filtered water is always available. Easy to replenish the water. Removes chlorine and other nasty chemicals, but doesn't remove fluoride. Water tastes like water should. Nothing really but could do without the reminder. Filters could probably be used longer than they recommend, and they're not too cheap.
Excellent – I bought mine to encourage my kids to get their own water. I got tired of filling up the filter jug and having to pour it for the kids all the time and they love being able to use the little tap themselves. The filters last us about a month but it would be better if you could see the date more easily. This is the perfect self serve unit for the… Read more · 1
kids to use.The filters can be bought in any department store. You really need a good size fridge if you buy one.The lid where you fill it up is a bit hard to get off.
Excellent – I love this unit and looked forward to finally getting one. I love the size of it because my family goes through a lot of water. I initially had difficulty fitting it in our fridge as we are addicted to chilled water. But with some shelf adjusting we got it in. The kids love being able to just pop a cup under the tap whenever they want. The… Read more · 2
9litres usually lasts us 2-3 days. But I have got into the habit of topping it up every night before bed. On those days of heavy use, ie. weekends or summer holidays, I keep a couple of bottles of water in the spare fridge. That way I can top it up with pre-chilled water. The filter does a great job of turning the water into deliciously fresh water. The only negative is.. the filter life LCD display is useless. I ignore the thing. It tells me to replace the filter after 3 weeks. I generally get 3 months from my filter. The filter lasts much longer than the company says. Obviously some sort of money spinner for them, trying to get you to buy more filters more often!! Overall, a great filter for families who love cold, pure water on tap without having to get the expensive chiller units. The large size - you aren't constantly topping up the water. The tap is easy and convenient. It give great tasting water - the way water should be!! The filter indicator is not accurate. May be hard to fit in some fridges.
Excellent – We bought this about 3 years ago and have been really happy with it the whole time. The large size means you are not constantly having to refill it. We go through so much water because use it for drinking and cooking with. It is really easy to use and the kids just help themselves so they end up drinking much more water wich is great. You can… Read more
always buy the filters... most supermarkets and depatrment stores stock them. I usually buy them when the 3 pack goes on sale for $20. It holds so much water. The timer on top is not much good.
