Superb camera that does a great job! – I was a bit skeptical with this camera having only used Nikons previously but I'm very happy with this purchase. It took a little while to find out where the settings are due to the aforementioned reason and once that was taken care of, everything else was a breeze. There are automatic and manual options to suit novice photographers and also those… Read more

that know their way around - special mention for the Q (Quick Control) button! Photo resolution and quality is excellent in both normal and low light conditions. Great build quality and reproduces excellent photos and video Live View is a bit clunky and slight delay which is annoying if you like this function (me!)

Canon's 7D – After learning how to control the (Canon 1100d and Canon 450d in manual) it was time for a step up, aai'm so happy with this camera.. it's a new photography tool and I'm getting the hang of it already.. if you've owned Canon cameras and are looking to step up to something new, you'd love this camera. Great learning tool this camera, and it could… Read more

honestly last you a life time It's a little bit heavy, you wont want to be wearing this around your neck all day.. don't put the 7D strap on the camera; I'd buy a shoulder strap and you'll be fine or just hold it in your hands

Can't live without it! – Best thing I've ever bought! Saved for ages, was tossing up between 60D and 7D - glad I went with the 7D! Has everything!

A great step up! – I owned a 450D for many years before dropping it. I did a lot of investigating before buying this camera and I love it. Probably aimed at the advance amateur who can appreciate the 'mirror lock up' etc. A great camera and the "Q" function is sooooo quick and good

Excellent – Some people will call this the go- between for professionals. I call it the step up for those who can afford the better end of DLSR quality. You dont need to be a professional to use this camera but it will make you a better photographer in how you use the camera. There is a lot to learn - I'd suggest you getting yourself a copy of… Read more ·  1

Charlote.K.Lowrie's book Canon 7D A Field Guide and the Canon EOS 7D Cheat Sheet online through Amazon as they will fill in any gaps you dont understand in using this camera. The best option for lenses to date is dependent on your type of photography. General point and shoot can be done using any lens type except for older AF and non digital lenses which still fit using and adapter ring for some lenses that are not compatible with the EF type fitting. You can find adapters in ebay for around $10-30 depending on lens type. use a macro vivitar thats better than a USM 60mm but have to set the camera to full manual and use a light meter for setting f/stop etc. If you are an avid photographer you will have a lot of fun with this camera as it can be setup in a nature hide situation - or stakeout and run using bluetooth remote off a laptop. However you cant change DOF settings from remote thats something for future generations to look forward to. Will shoot on both RAW and JPEG of either singularly. I prefer RAW and get the best possible as a phtograph is one record at a specific time that cannot be repeated unless in studio preconfigured lighting. From a professional point of view - it would definately suit the rugged end for wet events and dusty environments. This camera is based on high end standards of A1 dust environmental sealing of internal or vulnerable components. Taking into environments that are less than friendly will not harm the quality of your images if you maintain lens cleanliness and dont do anything really stupid. Dropping the camera will likely damage your lens not the camera body, its fairly robust and most buttons dont stick out to get a knock. I purchased a hand strap which is easier for right-hand carrying just off the wrist if you plan to not use a monopod. Its beter than it hanging off your shoulder when get a quick shot in you can leavy the camera on in standby mode and after non-use for more than a minute it will go back to standby. Exceptionally fine digital resolution in low light due to super large prism - you can really feel that weight. 1:1 screen res eliminates any cropping in shot and easy point shoot in AF (green rectange or CA). Well planned out in memory department with full display function allowing professional pre-set functions to be installed on C1-3 on mode dial. Can even set filter option so stop down is not auto function on camera. Can control like real old style SLR and you can use your good old quality lenses and get exceptional results just as good as USM current. It very heavy - even without a big telephoto lens - All up expect 1.5Kg or 3LB for 100-400mm telephoto with 7D no attachments. Unless you have strong arms you will need a tripod for big end applications like nature photography. Size relative to other pro-sumer DSLRs.

No other cons - it's more than enough.

Love it, take pics like a pro – I love this camera, I am no photographer but this is easy to use and takes perfect shots. You can set it to auto and takes a perfect shot every time. The only negative is there are so many lenses it's hard to know which one to use

Excellent – I love my Canon 7D! I have had canon cameras from the very begining - from a film SLR to one of the first DSLRs they created, but with the 7D they have out done themselves. This camera is able to record high definition video - some of the latest music videos and even an episode of House was filmed on a camera from this series. If you love… Read more

Excellent – The 7D is an excellent camera, and I am very happy with the camera feel, performance and most importantly picture quality. I think it is the best of the crop sensor cameras, and with the money saved on a cheaper body, you can invest in more expensive lens. Very fast(8fps), especially with a fast UDMA memory card (which you will want if shooting HD… Read more

video or bursts of RAW images).

Low noise - which is quite impressive considering the fact that it is an 18MP camera and not full frame.

The ability to customize controls is very useful.

I really like the 100% viewfinder, and nice clear LCD screen too.

The autofocusing system is excellent. HD movie recording is difficult to get good results.

Searching through menu for mirror lockup, instead of having a dedicated button.

Not full frame (but it is cheaper!)

Excellent – I've owned several D/SLR, the 7D produces stunning results for sports photography. Whilst not in the same leagure as the 1D, the cost savings allow better glass to be purchased which is where the real image is produced. 8fps means you will miss very little action. HD video is very good, comparable to the 5DMkii but does take some getting use to… Read more

and requires careful planning to produce great results. 8fps, 18 megapixel (crop ability), HD video, focusing compared to XXD series. Not full frame.
