Pros: Canon is a good, reputable and trusted brand. It is small and compact, light to carry. We liked the idea of the SD-Card.
Cons: The battery life doesn't last too long, it needs to be recharged regularly. I've found that if I use it for say 10 - 15 minutes, then turn it off and put it away for a week or so, when I get it out next it is low on battery and requires recharging before using it or I only get a few minutes before having to charge it.
Overall: It is fairly easy to use the basic functions - ie recording and then playing it back. We have also figured out how to play it back on the tv and a digital photoframe. So far a good quality camcorder.

Pros: Full 1920x1080 high-definition video, compact-flash storage (no DVD, no tape, no HDD)
Cons: AVCHD format isn't widely supported yet, slow downloading high-def video from camera to PC via USB
Overall: Best value high-def, flash memory video camera. Comes with only 8G SD-card but larger SD-card prices are falling all the time.
