Excellent – The Canon PowerShot A550 is an excellent camera and an economical buy. Selling for around the $150-$200 mark, mine has never put a foot wrong. It comes with its own software for photo editing on your computer, which is easily installed. Software does not block or interfere with any other photo editing software. Pictures are saved automatically… Read more
to your 'my pictures' file as well as to your computers canon album files. With a 7.1 megapixel output, photographs are of a suitable size for most magazine reproduction rerquirements. Picture quality is excellent. It also has a handy tv /av out connector cord, so images can be viewed full screen on your television. Built in video recorder. 10 sec. delay shot function is wonderful. Many different photgraphic settings available, each one adjustable in itself. Adjustable flash settings. An excellent little camera. High quality pictures. Many adjustable functions & settings to suit the requirements of any shot taken. Built in video. Own editing software. Simple to use. Eats up batteries very quickly; highly recommend investing $20.00 in a Varta recharger & two rounds of batteries at time of purchase, so you are never caught with flat batteries. Steady hand also required for this camera as it is extremely sensitive and the slightest movement will result in blur!
Good – I bought this cam 50 bucks cheaper than its preceding Canon release (yes, with internet deals, it can be possible). Was I happy with the price? Of course! Am I happy with the shots? Yes. I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about Canon cameras, and now I believe them. Though at first I had some difficulties figuring out the icons and specific… Read more
functions, I did manage to come up with good photos after a lot of experimentation and manual-reading. I’m glad I went digital, and I’m glad to have invested in a Canon camera. It produces images of a high-end camera. There’s a wide choice of scene modes (Landscape, Portrait, Indoor, Kids & Pets, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Night Snapshot, and Night Scene). Not the easiest digital camera to operate.
Good – For photographic quality and performance, there’s no doubt that this Canon A550 delivers. It’s good for the shooting pro’s (and not so pro’s). It just takes a little patience and “trial and error” to figure out the best functions of this cam. For the prominent battery compartment, I just look at it as a blessing in disguise…it’s something that can… Read more
make me have a tighter grip on my camera. So far, I’m enjoying the pictures taken by this Canon Powershot as it makes me feel like a professional. Great features. Great pictures Not too compact. Battery compartment brings in the bulge.
Excellent – Our daughters (aged 9 and 11) have been using their Canon cameras constantly since Christmas last year. They taught themselves how to use them and have been taking great shots ever since. One camera even survived being dropped on a concrete step! In other words, these cameras are reliable, robust and have been one of the best presents we've given… Read more
our girls. The camera produces quality pictures and is easy to operate. Invest in rechargeable batteries because this camera even uses lithium batteries at a rapid rate.
Good – Despite the lag time between shots, I can still come up with over a thousand superb shots with the help of my SDHC memory card. My AA batteries go a long way as this cam is such an energy saver, especially when the shots are taken with the LCD off. This cam has lots of cool features waiting to be discovered. Bottomline, I think a lot of people… Read more
will benefit from this camera. The pictures are magnificent (very visible on the printed output). Attractive price tag for the entry-level digital camera enthusiast. The lag time between shots and during flash refresh.
Good – The unit feels good in the hand and is well balanced. The options, whilst not outstanding are adequate and are good enough for the average punter. The screen is clear and easy to see with the options displayed if desired. The menus are not easy to follow and can be a bit confusing. I had to try, try again to find out which options were the best to… Read more
use and had trouble finding the options I wanted. The battery compartment, whilst bulky, is in the right place and well shaped to fit the hand. I like the extra grip it lends. Overall I would say a good camera for the price and a good budget buy. Great picture quality for the price. It's a bit on the big side and sometimes has a delay in processing the image into the memory which can delay the next shot.
