Pros: It has good weight to it, lots of options to choose from. Relatively quick to take photos, uses AA batteries
Cons: There are better cameras out there now, can have CCD problems, pictures sometimes look a bit wwashed out
Overall: Several years ago this camera came out. It still does the job but there are better cameras now. After a few years it started to show problems with the CCD but Canon does offer repairs for that. The picture quality is good and the focusing does work well enough. Despite all the options that are with the camera, it envitably just becomes a point and click camera most of the time. It uses 4 AA batteries, and are easy to replace in an emergency.
Pros: Found it to be a good little camera. easy to use and great pictures.
Cons: The camera came up with an error code at about 14 months. Had it repared in Singapore. They replaced the lense assembly. Worked ok for about 12 months then started missing shots, then failed altogether.
Overall: As it cost me about $600.00 to buy, then spent another $100.00 on repairs I would have to say it's a terrible camera and I probably will not buy another Canon.
Pros: Uses easily available AA-sized cells. Takes cheap CF cards.
Cons: Me too! Intermittant image distortion problems after about a year and a half.

Overall: The image distortion issue appears to be caused by a maufacturing fault. See the link for more details. I have yet to see an advisory notice for the CEMEA region.
Cons: Went out of order 14 months after purchase.
Viewing screen showed pink distorted images and the photo was pink and distorted, then it would heal itself and work well for a while, but after a few weeks the screen has gone black and will not work at all.
Advice from three separate camera shops didn't recommend repairing it.$300 was quoted to repair it.
Overall: I loved my Canon A70 but now that it is out of order I feel totally let down by Canon. Over $500 for 14 months use.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Cons: be careful to make sure it is set to auto before taking pictures
Overall: great digital introductory camera, it has everything you need and is reasonably easy to use. Takes very good pictures and is fantastic for macro work
