Pros: 12 times zoom feature, macro and super macro feature, runs on AA batteries.
Cons: has had some problems, particularly with the lens, which sometimes will not come out. Had to have it serviced, fixed the problem temporarily, however a few months later same again. Now the flexible screen no longer works, ie, no image on the screen, need to use the view finder, very old school.
Overall: Was a great camera for the first 12 months, problems started just out of warranty, Canon did a service at 18 months for half price, after I jumped up and down, but same problems have returned. Image quality is good, but would have expected better for the money.

Pros: Very simple to use and incredibly small and lightweight for all its features. Great little flip-out and rotating LCD. You can add lenses to this camera. Uses 4x AA batteries which makes replacing batteries when out-and-about very easy.
Cons: No inbuilt wide-angle capacity. However, you can buy a wide-angle lens. The very worst thing is the useless lens cap which falls off way too easily, so I always keep my camera in a camera bag.
Overall: I travelled around the world with this camera and used it in every situation and setting imaginable. I was trying to conserve battery power (because I didn't have an international charger) so I kept the LCD shut and did a lot of point-and-shooting. My pictures were all beautiful. The best thing about this camera is the simple power-user menu and one-touch buttons that make white balance, exposure, flash strength, automatic timer, continuous shooting easily accessible and quick to select, which makes advanced photography available to everyone.

Pros: it has so many features that make even my happy snaps look great
Cons: so many features i will never learn them all!
Overall: i did alot of research when buying this camera as it was my first digital and i really am happy with this. The swivel screen makes taking photo's alot easier and coupling it with the self timer means i can see the photo whilst including myself in it. I have had this camera 2 years and never had a problem with it. when i printed my first lot of photo's i was thrilled with the clarity. Even if i never learn all those extra features it still take a top shot and i have shot some great quick videos of the kids!

Pros: This is a great camera. It has more features then you could ever hope to use and has a great swivel screen which means you can take perfect happy snaps and also film or take pictures of things whilst holding the camera above your head. It is great for families as you can set the timer and get yourself in the photo too. Value for money and easy to use. It also has great zooming capabilities for a camera of this size - perfect for a family or for someone wanting a little more then just a basic digital camera. The printed photo quality is fantastic.
Cons: A little bulky.
Overall: I must confess I was skeptical about purchasing a digital camera as I wasn't totally convinced about the quality of the printed photos. However, after next to no research my husband purchased this camera and we have been blown away with the quality of the pictures and the many varied functions of the camera. It has never failed us and the movie function has allowed us to film our baby daughter without having to fork out thousands on an expensive video camera that we probably wouldn't use that often. With this camera you two things in one.

Pros: The best feature of this camera is the Video it is equal to dedicated digital video cameras in the $1600.00 range according to my friend who does digital video recording.
Cons: Cons have already been listed in the 2 previous reviews.
Overall: I am very pleased with my purchase after doing a couple months of research on the net in some of the Canon Forums I also looked at other cameras of around the same price range but their Cons were more numerous than the S3IS.
I have found that Lithium batteries give better service than the rechargeable type in this camera, Ok! Lithium are a little dearer but they do not "leak" whilst stored in the camera unlike the rechargeables.

Pros: Excellent for the user who doesn't know much about digital camera's. It takes excellent photo's and is very easy to use.
Cons: not much. I wish it warned me about the battery usage more.
Overall: FANTABULOUS camera! As above it give great results with little input from the user. We did a fair bit of research before we bought it and our research was right - this is a great camera for a very reasonable price.
