Combat Ant-Rid Liquid

We used for our car, we got little ants colony in our car door inner rubber line around the door. Many eggs were layed over and over under our passenger seat footrest rubber mat, until we get this magic liquid. My partner mixed with bread pieces with the liquid on a plastic cup and left it in the car for few days. We saw some dead ants soon… Read more
after on the food area, on next day we started seeing more and more ants, we let them as they are and after fewdays we saw none ants in our car. even the dead ones were taken. Since that treatment we never see an ant again in our car.
Total cr#p, just like every other ant poison or baits i use. Been trying to get rid of ants for months. Even mixing with honey and putting on bread. They won't even go near it. Wouldn't recommend. Show details
Follow-up · They are small orange colour, smaller than the usual black ants that come inside. No idea what they are. Don't no where they are coming from. Tried 2 different liquid poisons, and powder. Even tried mixing with sugar, honey. Nothing working.
If the ants you have won't touch it, do what I did and mix it with peanut butter. Protein ants love peanut butter, a few drops of cooking fat (from bacon, lard, or oilive/veg oil) and a little water to reduce the thickness. The (coastal/Argentinean) ants I have literally swarm and surround it. They can eat an enormous amount overnight (they're… Read more
most active then), leaving the thin plastic 1" squres (cut out of empty containers) bare. Re-load again and the swarm returns, but in greatly reduced numbers. Today is the 4th day (I have multiple areas to treat - kitchen baseboard, the laundry water drain pipe and toilet drain pipe). I use about 3 pieces per area of infestation area that are about a 1 inch square each of thin plastic (cut out from old food containers) that I spread the mixture on. I mix up 1 part peanut butter to 1 or so parts of ant rid, a few drops of water, olive/veg oil, a little cooking fat (lard is great as is any meat drippings from fried sausages, bacon, steak, chicken etc). Putting peanut butter into the microwave for a few seconds liquifies it when too it's stiff. Add a little tepid water, oil and/or lard and mix it up thoroughly so the consistency isn't too dry or too hard to spread onto the plastic squares. Ants really want that water especially when it's a really hot and dry summer like it is now. They then consume this stuff, take it back to their nests and spread it around, and they make sure that their queen gets her fair share (she probably gets the most). So, now being the 4th day, the ant numbers have reduced by at least 75%!! The photo I posted shows the dramatically reduced numbers of ants. Notice the one with the huge head? I believe they're either coastal or Argentinean ants. But they're eating the stuff for sure. But they didn't touch the plain ant rid until I used peanut butter, fat and water. I got the peanut butter idea from an exterminator I know. To my surprise, it really works. Please don't stop yet! You must be persistent and patient enough to allow these little pests to infiltrate and feed their nest-mates and to kill the queen (and her larvae). Apparently, she can typically lay hundreds of eggs per day. When she dies, the colony also dies out. But I'll be ready if they return. I will need to plug up some small entry holes I found very soon. The exterminator told me that It can take several days - even weeks (especially for multiple colonies with multiple queens) for a complete erratication, so keep topping up your bait and have some patience. Don't give up!
PS - I placed my DIY baits where my dog can't access them. Even though he has absolutely zero interest in peanut butter or sweet things. But he loves his meat! I still keep a keen eye on him. Luckily, I have no children or grandchildren at home.
Please note that my bottle of Ant Rid was purchased in 2015 - WELL BEFORE this company allegedly changed their formula. Maybe that's why it's been very effective for me when compared to those posting here that the newer formula has been "uselsss" for them. All I know is that this 10 year old, almost completely full, tightly capped bottle is still very effective. It still is about half full.
Good luck!

This is not a good product – This dosent work I have video footage for these things lining up drinking this stuff and leaving again Show details
Antrid what a joke!! – I applied antrid in approx 5c circle in the pantry where the ants were. They came in bigger numbers to drink the juice till it was all gone 2 days latter. I kept reapplying and numbers weren't dropping. I gave it a break for 3 or 4 days then re applied and they came back in big numbers. A few died and were on the pantry floor. I finished last… Read more
bottle approx 2 weeks ago and there are still plenty about. I now have used 3 bottles and the small black ants are still in big numbers.
I sent emails to the company and all they offered was a $10 gift card. This is not good enough and I have spoken to others that have had the same experience of the product not doing what it says.
Worked for me – Recently had a huge number of the typical black house ants invade our kitchen. They were going everywhere. Did a search for what's best, went to our supermarket and all was there from supply issues was the Ant Rid. No choice, even though I read it doesn't work. Applied several drops along the several trails in the kitchen. First 12 hrs had about… Read more
20 or thirty at each drop feeding. Must say that within minutes they locked onto it. Next day, especially at night when I got up they were everywhere! Im thinking "damn, did this just atracts them or what!?" Hundreds! But the directions say that can happen so resisted wiping them off with my home-made iso mix. They hate that stuff. But come back eventually. So I put dozens of drops all along the trails. Checked later and oh man! It was ant party feast time! Everywhere! Hundreds. After reading things from other reviews I thought "yep, me too, all I did was just attracted them!" But waited, no other choice, no other options on our shelves. Day later, only saw a few scouts, put a few drops, they fed. A week later im not seeing 1 single black house ant. Im not sure what ants others are seeing this fail on but it has totally anhiliated these in our house. No scouts, none anywhere inside or outside on the kitchen windows, sills or outside brickwork. Gone. See the pictures, sorry I didn't take one when they were in numbers feeding but you should be able to make out the dead ones. For these ants id buy it again no probs. But may not need to for a long time even if anymore turn up as I reckon I was lucky to use just 1/10 of whats in the dropper bottle.

So far, so Good – 5 days ago +-, I noticed a few ants, kitchen sink area. I killed a few/damp paper towel.. Then later sprayed them, Mortein. But still they kept coming, not in great numbers. Then I referred to Dr Google, who said Vinegar, I did the vinegar thing still they kept coming not still not in great numbers. But I decided enugh was enough, bought… Read more
Ant-Rid, put in where I thought they were coming from (and had come from in the not recent past) plus other areas, where they were tracking. Then went out for a couple of hours. Came home to ANTS, CROWDS of ants.... Vacced a few up, HAD to do something. Then left them along, but did notivce where they were coning from, a new place, top of window frame. So, then I thought, they will go back to thei rnest soon, when the sun goes down. This morning : have not sighted 1 ant!!! Sun is up, (and I really think they come with daylight) and it's now 1126.... I have fingers and toes crossed. I should add that I was VERY generous with the Ant-Rid both in placement and quantity, probably drowned them.... For now, sanity has returned.
Ummm Ant Feed! – So I purchase this product and then read the reviews. So I soon learned the trick was to put smallish drops, the ants would not feed on large drops. However the small drops works amazingly well, I even took a photo and text a friend..”haha look at these fools eating this poison” Oh no.. they were not the fools, I was! The ate and ate, some… Read more
of the worriors died during the feed, bless there souls! However the rest took the poison back to the nest and BAM!! No ants or the next day! Yes I won! Well not quite! 2 days later they were back, slightly bigger and definitely more! Well not to worry, in Bunnings I get two tubes I’ll just finish them off!
Bam!!! They had gone!
1 day later, every single ant and there bloody Aunty was in my kitchen!!!! Went from around 50 ants to around 1000 .
Tomorrow I will go buy another Product and see if that helps.
Finally, I’ve actually grown fond of these amazing little creatures, just wish they wasn’t in my kitchen. ;-)
Ant Rid still works in my area of Melbourne, Bayside – My kitchen pantry was being invaded by little black Ants. Marching around in orderly lines attacking their favourite foods. I didn't disturb them, I just let them go about their business and followed the line back to where they were entering the house. At this location I positioned the Ant Rid bait. Lots (40) of little (10mm) pools of the sticky… Read more
honey like bait.
It seemed to take a couple of hours for the Ants to get attracted but then they did. Thousands of them. And they appeared to be going nuts for it. Every few hours I'd top up the little poison puddles cause they were eating it so fast. I think the trick is to lay it out so it's easy for them to get to, and then hit them with as much as they can get as fast as possible over the next 24 hrs.
I don't know if Ants can communicate but giving them as much as they can get as fast as possible means they're all done like dinners before they can work out what's happened. PS I Did this about 6 months ago and haven't had any Ants in the house since.
Positive reviews
Perfect as always – Had massive infestation in the pantry, they were going for the honey, 2 different nests as they were coming from different directions. Put the ant rid down and sure enough they were all gone in 48 hours. Users must understand it has to be a slow acting poison to kill the queen. Show details
Amazing! – We had a component blow in our water heater only to find an infestation of VERY TINY ANTS by repair man. It was all fixed so we put some ANT-RID liquid and they never came back. Upstairs we had another infestation in lounge and bathroom (the ones in lounge room were biting us, but they were so tiny we didn't see them). Put a few drops of ANT RID… Read more
around and 24hrs later not an ant to be seen. 3 days later and we are ANT FREE!!! I've seen some reviews for other ants but I can highly recommend for the very tiny ants.
Don't misunderstand the product – I've used Ant Rid several times and - in due course - the ant infestations always cleared up. Some other reviews seem to expect ants to instantly die after drinking it. The fact that ants are lined up to drink it is GOOD. The product is attractive. They then go back to their nests and spread the poison to the entire colony, including the queen.… Read more
That is how it's SUPPOSED to work. Give it a couple of days and see how many ants are returning. Be patient.

I hadn't read any reviews as I have used this product for years with great success, but I recently replaced my old bottle of ant rid. Clear runny liquid which the ants are not interested in at all. I have put on saucers so I knew where I put it. Clear liquid on a kitchen bench is not desirable. I have submitted feedback to the manufacturer, and… Read more
interestingly, the website they have on the bottle is not secure and I couldn't access it, so I went via combatbugs.com.au. I rated one star as I couldn't submit with no stars
I have personally watched the ants in my home avoid this like the plague. It is obviously not the antrid from years ago and therefore I am not sure how this could possibly work. The liquid itself is much, much lighter in colour than the old recipe. Show details
I tried two boxes of these and i can guarantee that they dont work - Ants just walk straight past them . Nothing happens, they still survive. Bunnings should stop selling them if they want to keep their reputation. Show details

Took a few weeks to get rid of the whole nest – It worked but it took about 3 weeks for the nest to fully be gone. Note sure why it took so long, maybe the ants had stored the antrid somewhere in the nest and took a while for them to eat it? While I technically have to say the product worked because it did what was intended, this product isn't as quick acting like it used to. Around 3 years ago the ant nest would die within a few days but yeah this nest lasted a few weeks. Show details
False Advertising – It used to be great, but now it doesn't work. I actually understand the manufacturer's thinking: "if we destroy all ants we will run out of business". I think they replaced the poison with a sedative. What happens: the ants get attracted to the bait - they eat it al, and then disappear for a day or two, then they come back. And before you ask: l actually traced them back to the original nest, so yes, the ants are from original family Show details
combat ant rid is expensive ant food – Tried combat ant rid a few years ago it worked well.NOW THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK!..put down a few drops 2 or 3 times daily, plenty of ants eating it ...have done this for 1 month still plenty of ants (a few got stuck in the liquid and died) This company either do not do any research or they know its a scam..I want what i pay for and this clearly… Read more
is just food for ants..I consider it fraudelent behaviour to be ripping people off for a product that clearly does not work.Needs to be withdrawn from sale...as its a scam
Ants ignored the bait and company doesn't care to respond to multiple emails – Placed the ant-rid in the path of the ants in multiple locations but the ants literally walked around it and ignored it entirely. In the same way, the distributor of this product is not interested at all in helping their customers. They ignore every single email I send to them asking for support in relation to this issue. Due to this unethical business practice, I will never buy the brands from this distributor again. Show details
Didn’t work at all – Should I return the product as it may be too old.manufacture date was sept 22. Purchased 4jan 24. Now Using Talon which the ants are eating. Show details
Combat Ant Rid Strips – Not sure if the poison works yet however the strips don't stick. Within minutes of me sticking to window frame they were falling of and some spilling the poison out of the strip. Useless! Show details

Used to be great, now don’t waste your money – Three bottles in 2 weeks. This used be be great stuff only needed a small line of liquid. Now I have wasted my money. The recipe has definitely changed. Don’t waste your money folks …. Shame Show details
Totally Agree With John D 5 Star Review – I definitely share Johns D’s his view. It works with some ants and not others. There are several different Talon gels and one works on some ants on my property and the other doesn't. Some other brands don't even get any interest whatsoever from varieties of ants I have. At the end of the day, it is basically what he states. You have to try… Read more
different types. This is also applicable to some of the commercially available industrial products also.
Ant Rid works well at my mother’s house, not mine. (Melbourne)
You will most likely have to test try different product; that is the reality of it. Killing the nest is the objective and it is a slow process with some off the shelf products.
Agree totally useless – Purchase this yesterday as the ants are taking over my home. Have previously purchased these from bunning and love them as it worked within 24hrs. I have left the bait there and they are still there as I type, maybe even more from before. I'm very disappointed as I bought 2 bottles. Pretty much going to go in the bin now. I did notice that the… Read more
colour of the liquid is lighter than before so definitely formula has changed. If only I read these reviews before I bought them that I wouldn't of wasted my time. Who would have known, I never had a problem before.
caused an ant problem ! – caused my ant problem to be so much worse. attracted thousands of ants 2 weeks on still there ...so frustrated. its like i made the problem worse. used to work years ago. not sure what happened with the formula ? removed the boron ? Show details
Total Dud – It used to work so well but in the last 6 months we've been through 3 bottles, kept buying fresh ones in case that effected its success? Also bought the pack of 6 bait stations and put them all out. The infestation only grew. They walked right by the bait stations for a week and feasted on the fresh ant rid we put down daily. oil and isopropyl was all I had to hand and in the I blasted the thousand strong swarm with that, actually killed them. Going out now to buy some serious bug spray. Maybe like fleas ants are immune now?
Have used this effectively for years – Consistently effective in ridding my kitchen of ants. Works within 24 hours. I wonder if it is only effective on ants in my region (Perth hills), as many people have reviewed it as not effective. A relative in Hobart was told it wouldn't work there by pest control guy. Ants are feasting on Antrid....NOTHING – Have been through just over two bottles of Antrid in a week....Nothing. Ants are loving it. Changed to a few 50mm lines of Talon Gel and ants were all over it and ZAP next day they were gone. Show details
Don't waste your money – It seems like the formula has changed as it used to work years ago, it does not do a thing now, they eat it then keep coming back for more. It's useless Show details
