Not perfect, but so close i'll buy them again – The STT were a replacement to my previous Cooper AT3's which had been a great tyre. My initial concerns were road noise and fuel mileage, however I was pretty quickly impressed by how little of a problem these two things were. I have taken these tyres thru all conditions that I can throw at them in Vic, including, High Country, Grampians, Snow,… Read more ·  1

Mud, River crossings, and also being my daily driver, which is a mixture of gravel country roads, and bitumen highways. I can honestly say that I have been really impressed at these tyres. I do rotate them regularly including the spare. The only slight problem i have had with them was when i went to the High Country and it was very dry, I did chip the tyres a bit, however i have been advised this was probably caused more by my overly aggressive driving and not a fault of the tyre. I would happily buy these again, however I will probably try the STT Pro next time, just because I can.

Cooper max st's – Had a set of these tyres put on my Prado Nearly three years ago now. Have done around 70,000k's mostly on the tar but quite a lot of off road.I can not fault them, still looks like they have about the same number of K's left in them. Great off road, no punctures, very good traction. The only negative is being a very hard tyre they were quite lively… Read more

on wet tar seal, this got much better with some wear. I am wondering if the high temperature of Australian roads may have something to do with the life of the tyre, it is much higher than what we experience in the South Is of New Zealand.

tyre pressure is the secret – 95000km on a 3400kg landcruiser with no issues at all. 285/75 16, treat them like a tractor tyre, 32psi max on road, between 12psi and 18psi off road. They are a mud tyre, so any fool that thinks they will have good grip on wet bitumen has no idea at all about tyres.  Show details

Delamination * 2 – I had two of these delaminate - one at 78k and another at 79k. Both while driving on the highway on 35-40 degree days. I could never get the things well balanced either. One of the delaminations dented my rear quarter and ripped out all the wiring for the tail lights. Both delaminations on my honeymoon with my wife driving; scared her silly. An expensive exercise, and frightening for my wife. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.  Show details

Only suitable off road or rocks – Agree they are a shocking tyre for any tar surface. I have owned 4 sets of coopers. ST, ST/C, STT, STmax. Pretty wrapped by the first 2 sets but achieved only 55K and 60K life. But STT constantly out of balance, poor wear, downright dangerous. Put Maxx's on much better but scallops bad if miss a rotation. But no punctures on any of them which… Read more

included climbing sharp shale rocks that ripped knobs off 3 of the sets. Deep cuts though that never let go on any of them.

The worst tyre I have ever owned - by a long way – I've had Cooper STTs on my Mazda Bravo 4x4 for only about 12 months and in that time they have been, without question, the most dangerous on-bitumen tyre I have ever driven on, regardless of its tread wear. My old thoroughly bald Bridgestone Desert Duelers had far more grip than these. Do not under any circumstances buy these tyres. They are a… Read more

genuine death trap and unroadworthy at an age - new or worn.

I could not stress this enough. You can lose control in the wet at slow speeds, even in a straight line. I've never experienced anything else like it in my life. I'll be switching over to Toyo Open Country's tomorrow and expect a far better result.

The hype surrounding the Cooper STT 'all-terrain' tyres could not be further from reality. As an example, my wife drove the car in the rain the other day, lost control at a T-intersection at a snail's pace, and ended up going right through it in a full spin. Miraculously there was no-one coming the other way and she was unharmed.

Cooper ought to be thoroughly ashamed of the product they make and the lies they spin.

Never ever again. I'd rather walk.

Cooper ST 265/75 R15 – By far the most expensive and worst tyres I have ever purchased in my life. I rotated regularly, monitored tyre pressures religiously yet they wore unevenly. I took them back to the place of purchase and they blamed me. So I purchased two more. Same problem. They wore flat patches, yet they go round? Contacted Cooper, they did not want to… Read more

know about me. Went back to my tyre dealer and they said they would get the Cooper Rep to have a look and they would "get back to me". I am still waiting ......for over 3 years. Surely the rep calls by a little more often than that!!! I also spoke to a well respected tyre man in my home town and he said it looked like the ply layers were de-laminating, hence the flat spots on a round surface. So I put a set of cheapo tyres on (Terra Trac Hurcules 31/10.5/R15) and they have way outlasted the Cooper ST. Cooper Tyres are a great big waste of time, money and effort in my opinion.

save your time and money – I purchased 5 new 245 70 r17 STT tires and had them fitted to a MN Triton (used about 40% dirt 60% road travel) and I had nothing but troubles with them. the tires where showing bad signs of wear at 5,000 km so had the wheels and tires re balanced, rotated and wheels aligned. 10,000 km in all 4 road tires had sever wear and the tires where so… Read more

unbalanced that the car would start to vibrate at 50 Km/h. once again i took the car back to have a wheel alignment and balance. The tires where so out of balance they told me to have them sent off and shaved witch i did at a cost off $300.00. when I got them back the tires where great for about another 8,000 km and then guess what back to square one.

these tires where OK off road and a death trap on road. The only thing there good for is a super expensive spare.

These cooper STT's are so bad you wouldn't give them to your mother in law. anyone that tells you there good is ether a sales person or to proud to admit they got ripped off.

GU PATROL Cooper STT – I had a set of 305/70 16 STT tyres last 149,200km. These tyres did about 50/50 tar and off-road. Rotated every time I did oil change 10K and ran pressure 50 psi on long bitumen runs and 10-15 in soft sand.Noisy as they aged but stayed square across tread and no feathering on the shoulders. Eventually in sand ruts they kept climbing out with the sidewalls biting. Long life 4 years, great in mud and rocks

Cooper tyres are terrible------do not purchase these tyres-use maxxis bighorns great tyre – I had purchased 2 cooperstt tyres 31x10.5r15 that were put onto the rear of a dual cab patrol...these tyres was showing signs of wear at approx. !5,000km and i notified the local dealer and was advised that the warranty assessor would be in contact with me which never happened.....i again a few weeks later returned to the dealer asking the same… Read more

questions and again was told he would be in contact with me to arrange time to view the tyres...never happened...at 24,500km on an unsealed local road a rock was found to have driven a hole right through the tyres from the top of the tread...i removed both tyres from my vehicle and took the to the local tyrepower store who are the dealers and who i had been dealing with....the dealer as well as him employees agreed that the damage on these tyres was very bad and also had lug sepertion evident on both tyres...after nine months of not hearing back from them i was told just to refit them and run them down and see what happens...i was disgusted with this and refitted the tyres to rims...ii travelled to cairns where i refitted the tyres back onto the rear of my patrol where i preceded to go up to cape york and a lot of places in between...

anyway did 3,800 before returning towards cairns where i rock was driven through the tread so i removed both tyres...on returning home took tyre into tyrepower store where i was advised that tyre wasn't able to be repaired ...now these tyres haven't even done 30,000km on what these tyres were apparently designed for and i have been given every excuse known to man and avoided like the plague by warranty people...be very careful as there warranties arnt worth [censored word removed] when it comes down to it ... i am still tyring to resolve this issue but cant see it working out... i have had maxxis bighorn tyres do between 50,000 to 60,000km without antwhere near the same amountof wear as these tyres at 20,000km ....just to let you know i am a mechanic by trade and have ran workshops all over fnq including cape york so i have seen what tyres should stand up to...hope this helps rob ellis Were good for first 5,000 km

Great tyres – I've done 40,000Ks now & rotate them every 10,000. Awesome off road, a bit loose on wet tar as are all aggressive tyres, make a bit of noise but not the loudest tyre. I run 32psi on road & down as low as 10psi off road. People doing side walls need to pick their line better or remember to reinflate once back on the tar. Off road grip, reliability Prices vary wildly

if you want off road tyres – Some people make the mistake getting mud tyres for road tyres it doesn't work. These cooper stt's tyres are really good off road tyres ( mud and sand ) I've got them and will buy them again but only for off road my street tyres are cooper st's they are a 50/50 tyre. I've done really damn good off road driving with the stt's

Great Job – I have had these tyres for 12 months now and done 60000K and love them. They have awesome traction on the dirt and have as good a road manners as I would expect for a very agressive tyre. They are a little noisy but once again that is expected. I had some scalloing issues but dropped my road pressures to 32psi and they ironed out and are now all… Read more

perfectly square. I expect another 10000K out of them before my next purchae of same. Excelent off road traction a little noisy

World's Weakest Sidewalls – I only have 3 out of 5 of my STT's left as the other two both had sidewall failures, one of them at 110 km/h !!! Besides being useless on wet bitumen and very noisy, these tyres have the weakest sidewalls in the business and are downright dangerous. I WILL NOT be making the same mistake twice !!! Nothing Everything

Poor Grip – Worst tyres ever - they're ok off road, but absolutely useless the rest of the time. The compound is so hard, that there's no grip on the bitchumen. If your driving just a little too fast in the wet, you will Crash. They're extremely noisy and the vibrations they produce are borderline earthquake status. Never Never Again. hard wearing, ok off road. noisy, vibration. no grip at all.

Stt tyres are awson – Any 1 knocks the stt tyre has rox in there head, ive had a set fuh 3 years now and done 2 high country trips, local trips ran em dwn as low as 9 psi and never blown off thu beeds, or ever had a pucher, they r thrashed and still holding air, they r tuff :) ill be getting another set shortly, there far quieter than other tyres on thu bitumen and grip well in wet weather... Do not waste your money on the Cooper STT - Worst tyre I have ever had – I couldn't advise strongly enough to stay away from these tyres. I have been running BFG's KM2's and all terrains for years on my Landcruiser driving some pretty tough terrain without any problems, however I recently made the stupid mistake of switching to Cooper STT's as they were a lot cheaper and money was tight at the time. Basically, life… Read more

lesson - you get what you pay for!! I really should have known better.

After driving for about 2,500 km on road I took them off road on the weekend for the first time onto a simple fire trail. I dropped he pressure to 26 psi and after about 5km I got a tear in the sidewall about an inch long. The tyre now has to be thrown out. I am switching back to BFG's as if you go off road you need reliability. On road performance was good, cheap rpice Sidewalls are extremely fragile

Terrible – Warranty issues as well, brought 5 new in tassie, one was staked very easily by a rotten wood sleeper, now here in queensland and they wont fit the tyre on 7" rim due to tyre laws and they couldnt care less I have no spare for my trip home. Tried to sell me a smaller set they could fit. WTF! Pathetic! Cost $300ea in Tassie, cooper dealership in… Read more

cairns want $385ea with no consideration of money already spent or dilemma stupid laws have put me in. Had BF Mud b4 never a drama, will definatley not buy this rubbish again! Dont be a sucker, you have been told! When new looked great, gripped just ok in the mud compared to my other BF's Tyre wear is pathetic! Only done 5000k on road and already 1/4 of tread gone. Tread chips and cuts easily. Definatley dont be fooled by their outraged claims, or what you've read in 4x4 action.

Dont waste your money on STT – i bought my frist set of cooper stt about 4 months ago (2000km), i was doing some easy 4wding in mud/clay for the first time with the stt's and got a 2cm split in the tyer wall thats meant to be 33% stronger,(used 1990km on tar/10km 4wding) what a joke of a tyer, the last tyers i had were a 3rd of the price and they never let me down once, i can… Read more

not beleave how all these people can talk them up as a extreme 4wd tye with 33% stronger tyer walls cause there not strong!!! Will never buy stt tyers again frist set ive bought and the last!!!! If anyone buys a set make sure you get two spears you'll need them!!!! They look good, grip good in mud and fine on the sand, and cost heaps.. Side walls are not 33% stronger, i also have a friend that had them about 2 years ago and had the same prob. as me and had to drive with plugs in the side walls of 2 of his tyers from 20,000km till 60,000km which is unsafe!

Excellent long wearing mud style tyre – Just worn out my second set. 90,000 kms on a IFS cruiser. Still 5mm tread left. First set 70,000 and still had 9mm tread... Sold them for some return.. across the simpson and central Australia with no problems.

Secret, well same as all tyres really, run pressures for the conditions. I run 40-45psi on the road, 22psi in the high country, and anywhere in between depending on the roads and load. 15psi on sand, but go lower if needed. Long lasting, good grip sidewall biters work. bit noisy as the get older, but you would expect that.

Good – If you don't mind spending your hard earned oxfords on a tire that the manufacturer would have you believe is second to none then go right ahead! They are not cheap, and I must admit I have heard some scary stories about after sale service and warranty problems, I myself have not had any problems yet!..but they are pricey and the Aussie dollar is… Read more

not helping that fact at the moment. To be honest, yes! they are a great gripping tire out in the scrub, mud and sand, but overload them on hard rough rocky terrain and you will pay the price with sidewall damage just like any of the other top of the line Toyo's or BF Goodrich's.

I think right now they are a little out of the front runners league on price if nothing else!...ie you could buy yourself something almost as good for a lot less!

Outside of that I am happy with the overall performance on my GU Patrol/285?75 R16's and I would probably buy another set if the price was right, my current set have done around 20,000 k's and are around 40 percent worn, and that's with at least 80 percent sealed road usage.

I rotate them frequently and change tire pressures often depending on where I am going to be driving, as yet no side wall probs, lug damage or punctures, here's hoping the next 20,000 is just as good. They certainly look the part, but looks can be deceiving, in saying that they are great in the wet,the sand and mud traction performance is just as impressive.

They are no doubt better in every respect to the Silverstones that they replaced. They wear like a good pair of socks...love them while they last, as you won't be getting much more than 50,000 k,s out of them with regular Hwy and city driving. They are a bit noisy, but considering the depths of the tread pattern you should expect that, and decreasing the tread pattern depths would only serve to take away the tire's great grip capabilities.

on my third set never any problems, also 5 sets other Cooper models on Range Rovers and VW v10 – I have used SST's on my Patrols, Range Rover and Landcruiser, only 10% tar , all country dirt roads or farm paddocks, never had a problem , usually cahnge around 50,000klms as grip starts to suffer , very hapopy just purchasing my fourth set and looking up reviews gave up with other brands because of punctues and blow outs, nevr ay problems with Coopers
