poor signal although promoted as a powerful unit – Easy to configure but signal is weak. Changed locations several times and updated to latest firmware but the signal is still weak. Frustrating when this modem performs like something 5 years old. Thought the dual band may help but both bands are weak signals. Terrible for the money paid. If you use it through the ethernet ports the performance is fine but that is the same with any modem/router. Wi-Fi performance is what is important these days

The product runs perfectly – I don't know why the comment below rate so low. The product runs excellent for me and cheap. I bought it afew months and the internet is faster than my old moderm strongly recommaned this product :) the only bad thing is the moderm is abit small but not a big deal anyway

No, no, no – Upgraded to the latest firmware, same issues: 1. Resets itself to factory settings - every 3-5 days. 2. Weak signal (another bedroom, no wi-fi). 3. Both 2.4 and 5 channels become "unsecured" all of a sudden, so anyone can access them with no password. 4. Internet stops working, red light is blinking, and if going to modem admin page it is showing a strange "firmware upgrade" page - have to turn off and on and go through configuration again (as in my mentioned problem 1)

I will definitely return it as soon as buy something else.

Never Ever Get D-link Modem Model No: DSL-2544N – I purchase D-link DSL-2544N modem on 26/12/2015 from Harvey Norman at Highpoint Homemaker, Victoria .( It was Sales person advise). Since start it was pretty slow on speed and I start chasing this issue with service provider TPG. When TPG confirmed it was not their fault, I was referred to D-Link, ( One of the worse call center ). They tried changing channel and few trouble shooting couple of times but no luck. To rectify problem I step up myself and borrowed friends modem and see how I go with speed, yep no problem. I identified myself the problem was with D-link modem not the internet. Again I rang D-link and explain what I discovered, finally they came to conclusion that the current firmware on that modem is too old ( Was 1.15 updated on year 2013 ) and need to be updated with 1.18. Remote troubleshoot was worthless and I was told to send that modem back to D-link, Sydney. Cost me $ 15 for postage and I have to organize loan modem until I got my modem back from D-link. Finally on 12/05/2015 replacement modem arrived but it also got same problem as I have before. So I came to conclusion that I will never ever buy D-link product again and will not suggest anyone to buy it. This is what my experience with D-link product.

Faulty but not all bad – I have just returned my DSL-2544N to the retail shop after 6 months of use. I have mixed feelings about this experience. This modem/router was not all bad, though there was a big hiccup at first and after 6 months I ended up deciding to return it to the shop. The initial problem was that one of the 4 LAN ports was not working. It turned out that the 4th port had been configured as a WAN port in the initial setting though it was not mentioned anywhere on the box nor in the manual. After some correspondence with D-Link, they provided me with new firmware and all 4 ports became operational as LAN ports. The technicians from D-Link were very helpful.

The reason I ended up returning the device was that even though it was supposed to be a dual band router, the 5 GHz channel was not working.

With the increased number of Wi-Fi devices at home, the connection speed was getting lower and lower, so I decided to assign 5GHz-ready devices to that channel, but none of them could detect any signal.

After talking to and following instructions from a technician in India for about one hour, he declared that the device was faulty and he issued me an RMA notice and I decided to take it back to the shop where I purchased it 6 months ago.

It was a pity that I had to part with it, as its parental control functions were very well sorted out and easy to use.

Compared to my preceding D-Link 300N router which died after nearly 10 years of service, the signal of this router was not very strong and the speed was not anywhere near as fast as the spec tells it should, but overall it would have been sufficient if we were using as few devices as we had when we were using

the old 300N router.
