Bearing collapsed not long after warranty ran out, noisy – After buying the machine it seemed to clean well but understanding the cycles from manual was not very clear. Worked well for a few years and now the bearing has collapsed that it is out of warranty. Such a waste of money investing in this machine for a few years service.

metallic drum broken!!! 20 months old, DAEWOO won't repair although in garantee – I am very disappointed with this machine. After a normal cotton run, I heard terrible noise while spinning. when I checked out I found that the internal metallic drum is broken from the part where the welding spots are. a clear production defect (may be this is why it is discontinued). I sent the photo to the customer service and they said that… Read more

this is caused via a strange body!!! when I called and asked if the clothes are that body she said yes! She told me she cannot help me after the rejection of the case. I called the consumer centre here in Germany and I am having an appointment with them next week. The machine is only 20 months old and was bought with 345 €!!!

Best avoided – 4 years died completely. Never worked properly - it often got stuck on spin cycles, is flimsy and never washed properly. On the up side Daewoo service centre were very helpful and supplied another door frame for $100 when the flimsy one cracked. Unfortunately it only lasted another couple of months after that.

Machine has died in 4yrs – Bought in 2011 for $700 and it is just shy of 4 year old. Started not getting through cycles and would get stuck with the "drain" light illuminated. We have to force it through the cycle by draining and spinning. It's level but still jumps around and looks like it will escape our laundry one day. Have had it looked at and a sensor is… Read more

malfunctioning. And apparently that is more expensive to fix than giving us a credit not at the store we bought it from - luckily we'd purchased extended warranty through Domestic & General (who have been alright - good communication and response times).

The other issues people raise here are also all true:

- jumping around

- silver wearing off

- timer totally useless

I wanted to like this machine - we bought it because of the 1400 rpm spin, but it's jumping has meant we dare not exceed 800 rpm. Especially annoying as we use cloth nappies on our kids.

Positives are:

- cold wash and 95 deg wash

- delay start (although it's anyone's guess what time it will actually finish)

4 years is a pretty crappy lifespan but the extended warranty has been beneficial this time (I only got it for this appliance).

Update – Update and review of rating as detailed below: This is the first front loader that I have owned, once you get used to the fact that you can not just throw something in after the machine has started you will be surprised with this machine. Price + features = value for money Overall great wash and capacity, very happy with the purchase,… Read more

lets hope it lasts more than just after the warranty expires. Great machine packed with features.

Excellent efficiency and wash.

The spin speed of 1400rpm means drying time is minimal.

Cost I thought that such a great machine (as spoken up by the state rep) should have a bigger warranty.

Seems to be ok, nothing special to me – This is my first ever front loader i think ill go back to top loaders when its time for a new one as i prefer them. But as a machine it does the job - there was a mechanical issue in the first 6 months which was fixed no problem. Times on the pre-set programs dont seem to be accurate, and i have a fabric softner draining issue but overall the… Read more

Terrible washing machine and customer service – We have had the washing machine repair man out four times to fix problem after problem with the machine. They even took it away to be fixed for two and a half weeks. Even after being told it has had extensive testing the same problems still remain. We are now wanting it replaced as they have failed to fix it time and time again. Daewoo is still… Read more

being rude and unhelpful. A letter has been sent to daewoo and we are still waiting a reply.

Door broke, leaked water, pump had to be replaced as well as the control panel. Time display is inaccurate and the machine changes programs itself from spin cycle to wash.

Won't buy Daewoo again – This is my first experience with Daewoo and front loaders. the door is hard to open, the time displayed on the control panel is irrelevant to what the machine is doing at any given time and waiting for it to finish a load is like watching paint dry. Early on the machine became noisy.i checked with Daewoo and was told this was normal, though they… Read more

sent out a guy to replace the water inlet valve just in case.

The machine was perfectly level but has continual issues with being unbalanced no matter how I loaded it.each time meant restarting the cycle from the start of a new cycle as there is no way to restart the machine mid cycle after it registers that it's unbalanced which cancels out the good water/power rating.

Far woo we're ok when I spoke to them.they replaced the drum when it broke, the door when it broke, the control panel when it broke, (by the way I do look after my appliances, I'm not rough on them) and now I have the random buzzing noise of the pump deciding if it will work or not.yesterday was a good day- it worked.today my washing is laying in the machine in water going nowhere because the thing won't empty.nothing I try works, as usual.

I feel this is a very poorly made machine.i definitely won't buy a Daewoo product again because I have no faith in the quality of their products.

On a lesser note, the silver edging started wearing off the detergent drawer after just a few months, and the lint filter down the bottom at the front of the machine should not need a coin to open it.Must have been just too hard to design a catch for it. Nice looking machine.liked the fast spin when it worked. Inaccurate time display.a long wash takes 3 hours plus.door too hard to open.poor quality.

Yes... but No! – The machine gave Error Code "E6" issues from the day we received it. We first noticed that the timer was inaccurate which progressed to restarting washing cycles. This issue was intermittent but got progressively worse until it became utterly useless without completing [any] cycle and leaving the washing drained but not spun regardless of the… Read more

selected cycle. We phoned Castel, the Australian supplier who were immediately defensive, rude and abusive!

We spoke to the retailer who said that Daewoo was exceptionally rude to them and their customers.

We phoned the service contractor Apex Appliance who are polite. They listened, understood the error code and knew the fault, and were responsive to our needs. They said that 'if the fault did not proceed to this severity then the error would have been considered a 'user error''.

With no thanks to Daewoo, we have wasted electricity on this appliance until the fault became sufficiently severe to be recognised for what it is. To complicate this, the fault is not listed with the error code in the Australian version of the product manual "Troubleshooting" section as of 6th March 2013.

The machine has a tendency to walk across the floor which triggers errors because the hoses become distorted.

Heavy and light items are best washed in different loads as the machine becomes unbalanced.

E6 errror code from point of delivery requiring a replacement of control board! No lint filter!

LD1411 Daewoo – A year on, I still like this machine, it does a good job. Yes the timer is not accurate. Yes the circulation pump has been renewed twice now. The first one was so noisy had to keep the laundry door closed. The second one made noises intermittently, so had that renewed. Now doing a first wash with that and so far nice and quiet. just wonder how… Read more ·  5

long it will last this time.

Castell have been very efficient in replacing the pumps. No questions asked.

The jog dial is cheap and nasty, lost its silver after just a month.

It does have problems sometimes with a mixed wash of heavy towels and sheets, it takes ages for it to start spinning, sometimes have to take the wet towels out and just spin the sheets.

I now would not recommend this machine until they fix the known pump problems. Looks great, does a good wash my whites are spotless, uses little water. The door opening is large noisy circulation pump, cheap plastic jog dial, not accurate timer takes longer than stated, and tumble dryer does not like a mixed load

Good for the price – Not a bad machine for the price. Clothes come out clean as you would expect. be careful with the detergent, a little too much will leave you with suds all over the floor. Do not believe the timer it is very inaccurate. 50 minute cycle seems to do the job. Uses very little water Price Inaccurate timer Show reply

Superb Machine – Quiet and efficient, easy to use and you can also add to the load mid cycle. With this machine you can also select your water temps, spin speeds and time delay, alsong with a child lock! capacity, it was the best buy. It also had the highest water and energy ratings (efficiency) as well as all the extra features such as 'air bubble washing'.

The only thing that I have found is that kids socks (little feet) get caught in the lip of the machine, and you need to pause the cycle, rectify and continue. The easy fix is to place all small items into a laundry wash bag.

I am 5 loads in, and could not be happier! Energy and water efficient, easy to use, mid range price, reasonable warranty, can add mid wash. Long wash times - until you are able to work out the best cycle for you! Socks get caught in the rim!

What a waste of time and money – We bought this machine after it being highly recommended by the salesman and all I can say is "DONT". We have had nothing but trouble with it. On the wash cycle it made a terrible noise and were told by the service engineer over the phone that was normal and were told… Read more

we'd be charged for someone to look at it even although it was under warranty and only days old. We eventually ended up speaking to the national rep for Daewoo who kindly told us she had one and had never had any problems with it and that was as much help as she was.

We did eventually have the machine replaced only to find the replacement was exactly the same. On reporting this Daewoo finally admitted there was a problem with the pumps in that model and that they would be in touch to have it replaced. We are still waiting.

Heading back to store this weekend to try and change for different make Absolutely nothing Cycles are far too long if you want it spun at high speed and the 20 minute one is certainly not 20 minutes

You buy cheap, you get cheap – Bought this machine just over a month ago. First signs of trouble were an intermittent buzzing noise from the pump during the wash cycle but it came and went. We let service know and it took them two weeks for someone to come out to look at it. Half way through waiting for new parts the whole thing blew up completely (smoke and all). Three weeks… Read more

in now and the repairer has been once and told us it's unfixable and needs replacement.

The repairer also mentioned that the pumps in these machines had a known design fault and were progressively being replaced. I guess this means you buy at your own peril and then wait for the manufacturer to fix it.

I realise all things can break down, but it's the customer service when it does, which differentiates the good manufacturers from the bad. Personally I've decided to purchase a different brand. Great features. Seemed good value Unreliable

Excellent – Quiet machine, easy to use, excellent pricing picked mine up at the Good Guys for $690.00 less the water rebate so only paid $490.00 and for all of the features you get eg Direct Drive, Bubble Wash, 1400rpm spin speed, larger door opening, 8.5kg load capacity and load sensing, 4.5 star power and 4.5 star water rating it's a top buy. top loader before but I have to say this machine has made our clothes feel and look so much cleaner.

Prior to buying the Daewoo we did look at a German built machine with all the bells and whistles however at a price of $2500.00+ I couldn't justify that purchase considering the daewoo has just as many features. Features and Pricing Fantastic, have a look at the Daewoo Electronics web site and look at the features list and compaire it with other brands you will be surprised, I was.

Brilliant price and excellent quality – For under $800 this is an absolute bargain. We have had a top of the line Asko (lemon) and a top of the line Electrolux Ultra Silencer. After spending over $2K on the Asko and $1700 on the Electolux, we did not want to get ripped off again. The Asko blew a capacitor after 10 months, a motor at 3 years and another motor at 6 years. The… Read more ·  1

plastic control panel just fell apart (though Asko did replace it). The repair costs and parts were totally exorbitant. The sold it as being able to last 20 years but there is no way it could possibly last that long given the poor quality of the cabinet and and motors!

We bought the Electrolux 4 years ago (this time with a 5 year warranty). The first one was badly dented so it had to be replaced. The second one lasted 6 months before the drum bearing failed - a design fault but no washing machine for nearly a month waiting for a new one to arrive! The third one lasted nearly four years until the motor and two electronic control boards needed replacing. The door, filter cover and control panel were also falling to bits and rust was showing in the bottom of the front panel.

The company said it was not economical to replace so they gave us the balance of the purchase price LESS the cost of the repairer having four goes at fixing it. (Consumers beware of this rip off - the insurers repairer visited four times and we ended up paying for these 'service visits' while they replace one part at a time until they give up ever getting it to work. So they get paid for doing dodgy work and never fix anything!)

We looked at Whirlpool (flimsy and nasty), Bosch (another rubbish machine by all accounts), Samsung (dodgy door seals plus very poor service) and Ariston (poor reviews). Miele machines also have problems and I could not justify spending another $2K on a washing machine that was small and very, very expensive to repair. LG was the going to be next as it had a 10 year warranty on the motor. The Daewoo also has a 10 year warranty but is much cheaper.

Though there is not a lot of info (reviews etc) on Daewoo, all the reviews were very positive.

After looking at the price and quality we brought the Daewoo with a five year warranty.

It is the best machine we have ever had. It is incredibly quiet - much, much quieter than the Asko and Electrolux Ultra Silencer! The quality and feel is excellent. The door is very large and shuts easily, the detergent drawer closes smoothly and neatly. There is no hammer from the water taps and you can barely hear it spin. The water fittings are very good design making it easy to fit - (by comparison, the Asko hoses were a nightmare). It does not 'shake, rattle and roll' either. We both work and we can do our washing at night and not be disturbed. It can also do a full wash with 1400 rpm spin in 56 mins by pressing 'Wash+Spin' then 'Wash'. The only criticism is that the door does not open 180 degrees.

Highly recommended. Price, quality and very, very quiet.

Loving my new Daewoo 8.5kg Front Loader – I have just bought the 1411 model & I am loving it. I have already used the 20min quick wash for my dogs blanket & also a small fleecy rug. reasonably quiet - I previously had the F&P Top Loader for 12 years (still going) which sounds like a jet plane when spinning. The Daewoo has plenty of wash options & the 10year Direct Drive Motor warranty has to be a plus also. Here's hoping I get as good a service from my Daewoo as I have had from F&P. Quiet, value for $$, 10yr Motor Warranty, water & Energy Ratings are excellant
