Here's a list of questions other people have asked about DéLonghi CF08E / CF08M / CF05M
What's the difference between the CF08E & CF08M?
Jeff asked on Nov 10, 2011
If you go to www.deLonghi.com the Australian site, you will find dehumidifiers under the name of "air treatment"
The M on CFO8M means manual. The controls are manual. This is the model I have and it is about $50 cheaper than the other one.
The E on CFO8E means electronic and is push button.
I cant find any evidence that the electronic one does more.?
That's as much as I know.

Does the CF08E have a humidistat so that it will turn off when the humidity drops?
Jeff asked on Nov 10, 2011
I doubt it, but you could ask DeLonghi... My perception of a humidistat is that it is a fairly accurate bit of equipment and you may not get that kind of control for the price. My CFO8M certainly didnt have one, so I bought an electronic temp/humidity meter from Jaycar electronics which is fairly accurate if I only want to keep the humidity in the 40 to 60 per cent range. I have had no trouble with the air getting too dry but then I am living in a humid tropical climate where the humidity soars to 90% . At best I only get a 30% drop in humidity but it is a great relief.

Me too I bough a electronic temp/humidity clock meter from ebay and maintain my room humidity ranges between 55% and 65% anything above that the CF08E works full on for about two hours and if less than 55% I just open the bedroom window as it means dry weather down in Melbourne

the cfo8m heats the air before it is returned to the room, raising the temperature by up to 4 degrees c. which is not good in a queensland summer. can the heating function be disconnected?
davrod asked on Oct 29, 2011
No, I doubt it.... The heat is generated as part of the process of removing the moisture. If you have an air conditioner being used with the dehumidifier, it must cope with the additional heat generated by the dehumidifier. Its the price you pay for humidity control and the extra comfort of ideal humidity. I like to use mine this way even though it makes the aircon work harder. I also like to use it when the air conditioner starts to smell from mold growing inside.
There are air conditioners with a dehumidifier cycle, but when one uses these, it becomes evident that, on the dehumidifier cycle the temperature is not controllable, and just runs off towards the minimum, so it would be necessary switch cycles continuously to get the best result.
Portable refrigerant air conditioners discharge heat from the air, out a window or door, via a flexible pipe, but one must remember that when they are switched off, the whole unit (a package of hot metal)is completely indoors. This could make things uncomfortable in a small room.
There are good electronic temperature/humidity meters available from "Jaycar" in Townsville Nth qld if one wants to measure comfort level humidity, which is about 40% to 60%.
