Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Dodgy quality control
Overall: I went to The Good Guys yesterday to buy the DeLonghi deep fryer because of the reviews. Got it home and put it on the bench to take apart, but the front leg was wonky. There are 4 rubber legs that you can adjust, but the leg just kept going back into itself, so I took it back this morning. The Good Guys had 4 in stock and all four had dodgy legs, so obviously it was a bad batch. I went next door to Harvey Normans, but they only had floor stock left, so I'm without a deep fryer and don't know whether to persevere with getting one of these fryers or not. I also couldn't remove the lid which is supposed to come off, so possibly, it was a dodgy machine all around. I really don't like the look of the big "commercial looking" deep fryers and I like how light this fryer was, so I'm really disappointed. I have looked at the Russell Hobbs, but that uses 3 litres of oil which is a lot to throw out each time you use a deep fryer, another plus for the DeLonghi as it only uses 1 litre. There does not seem to be much variety in Australia for deep fryers, much better ones in Europe.

Pros: This would be the fifth deep fyer we've bought in the past ten years or so and after using it for the past six months ors so, I'd say it is by far the best. You can cook with the lid open or closed and the rotating basket allows the food to cook evenly with chips less inclined to stick together.
The DeLonghi is far more economical on oil too as it uses less than half the amount of pretty much every other brand on the market, and draining the old oil is easy. Quality seems good. And thoughtful design.
Cons: Printed on the casing are the words "Easy Clean" ~ it's not any easier than other brands really.
Overall: Exceeded my expectations. Very good product!
My only regret is not buying the larger model, but then the stores tend to have a fairly limited selection in stock.

Pros: Uses less than half the oil due to rotating basket, so don't judge it on it's oil capacity. Basket is much bigger than most others. Easy clean, especially with built-in drain hose and oil receptacle. Cooks well. Effective filters. Safe design wrt kids: cool touch and retractable handle. Hinged lid means no hot oily lid to have to put down on bench. Lid removes for cleaning though, as do filters.
Cons: Takes a little longer to cook than some.
Overall: We bought the Model 18316 which is the same, but with a few extra features. we could only find a couple of reviews on the web: one great and one terrible! Happily, the terrible reviewer must have had a dud because this unit is fantastic. Cooks evenly, good basket capacity and so safe with kids due to cool exterior and retractable handle, unlike the current fad for rectangular stainlss steel fryers that are so hot to touch and easily pulled off benchtops by the handle by toddlers(on top of themselves). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
