DeLonghi PAC S1200HP

This product is a piece of junk. Do not trust Delonghi product – I bought this one few years ago, It did work but not as simple and good as Delonghi said. First of all, it is not mobile. Mobile in the sense that you can install the product anywhere you like on condition that it is within inside your house after you permanently hook it up in a fixed location. Secondary, the term outdoor unit is… Read more
misleading. The outdoor unit cannot stand the real outdoor environment. The outdoor unit is only good for indoor environment. It should be named as external unit, not outdoor unit - misrepresentation.
Lastly, It has already broken down three times. When I called authorized Delonghi air-cond service center, they can immediately identify this "excellent product" and know what/where the problem is.
Anyway, very GOOD work, Delonghi - a piece of junk same as its company. A feed has been added in my Facebook to share with everyone.
One final comment - never ever buy anything from DeLonghi - a bad company with bad product.
Hopeless – After testing the unit for an hour to see if it would cool effectively , and it did , the umbilical hose ruptured and all the gas came out , Had that fixed and returned to us by winter so didn't use it till next summer then the same thing happens again. Had it 3 years , used it for 1 hour , been at the work shop for 2 years 6 months - they say… Read more
it can't be fixed . That was a waste of $1400 dollars . It actually did cool well . The gas pipe can't handle any flexing.
Terrible – I do not want this expensive 'Good Looking Italian' in my house. It has not done a proper day's work in its life. I want a divorce. I want a settlement so that I can invest in an efficient Japanese or a hard-working German. The heating function is good in winter, but that is not why I bought it. It has broken down every summer since I bought it in 2008. By the time it is fixed or replaced (3 times) the heat is over and I am exhausted.
OK – Great product let down by a misleading sales pitch. As much as I have found the product to perform in a fantastic manner, Customer service is always number one on my list, and due to the misleading sales pitch of this product I will not be buying another delonghi again. The unit is fantastic, it's cooling and heating features are great, and its… Read more
smart mode (where the unit decides the best fan speed and whether heating or cooling should be used to keep a comfortable temp) is fantastic, it's very quiet and for that I am happy with it. Heres the nail in the coffin though. The 'outdoor' unit, cannot be subject to any weather condition, I find these type of instructions appauling, as its an outdoor unit. There is mention of a protective cover in the users manual which can't be found anywhere, not even on their website. The website also shows a lower power consumption figure than the actual 920/940watts it uses for coolin heating.
Too be honest as much as the product itself works well, I have found the whole purchase experience misleading and will not be buying another Delonghi product again.
Excellent – This is my third portable and the best one of all. The noisy factor is unbeatable as the compressor is not on the same unit. It cools fast and the dehumidfying power of this unit is very impressive. The best investment I've done this summer. 5 starts for this product. Great features, fast cooling, dehumidfying power is very impressive and most important of all, VERY QUITE ! not as easy as it says to disconnect the hose. About it really.
Excellent – Very nice portable air conditioner. I recently briefly owned a Mistral portable conditioner (see my other review about it) and this one blows it away by far! I paid $799 because it's a "run-out" model (ie. no longer being sold) but I don't care if it's obsolete -- it does the job and it's only slightly more expensive than most other portables (due… Read more
to being split). This is the third portable air conditioner I've owned, and it's the best by far. (I also previously had a Carrier Holiday 8). If you're in the market, get a split system one because it really cuts down on the noise compared to single standalone units. Recommended. Great at cooling! Whisper quiet too -- the split system means the noisy part goes outside, but even that isn't very loud. Has 3 fan speeds with each one being a little louder than the lower, but the lowest level is all I need and it's quite powerful. Everything is remote-controlled but there is a backup switch on the internal unit in case you can't find your remote in a hurry. The outdoor unit is heavy to lift, but has casters for movement. The indoor unit is very light with a convenient carry handle. This air conditioner apparently doesn't need regular emptying of a drip tray like some, but if/when it does (on extremely humid days for example), it's just a matter of opening a plug on the outdoor unit and draining it. My outdoor unit is on a balcony so I'll just be letting it drip out without a care in the world. :) Being a split system, it also has the advantage of a tiny exhaust tube that connects the pair, rather than the big chunky 10cm diameter exhaust tubes of standalone portable conditioners. If you have children: beware! The indoor unit's air vent faces up, which means it's open season for dropping small items into it (coins, etc). I actually went to Bunnings and paid 35c for a bit of fly screen to super-glue over the vent to prevent this. The last thing you want is to have it wrecked because your kids think it's great to drop coins into it! The outdoor unit needs to be protected from the elements, and despite the manual saying that it comes with a protective cover, mind didn't so I'll also have to buy maybe a card table to sit over it. (I was going to buy a plastic crate and cut off the side where it vents but couldn't find any big enough). Besides, a card table is only $10 and lets the outdoor vent without restriction and protects it from rain and direct sunlight. I rang DeLonghi to query about the missing protective cover and they said it was an optional component that doesn't come with this mode. :( Oh well. As for the warranty: the website says it comes with a 5-year warranty but the manual says only 2 years, and the place I bought it from said only 2 years too. I asked DeLonghi about this too and they said it's only 2 years, and when I pointed out what the website said, the customer service operator said for me to print it out as proof then in case I need it in future. Hmm. Have done so, in case I need to take it to the Dept of Fair Trading in 3 or 4 years time. ;)
