8 years in and still going strong – Quality product. I have used this fan every night for 8 years and it still works fine. I do have to take the cover off and clean the dust about every year, and twice I have put new machine oil on the spindle. DeLonghi clearly has no concept of planned obsolescence! I am grateful for this. Sad to see this is now discontinued. If it every broke I would like to buy another.

This fan just keeps on going 8 hours a day after 5 years - Excellent! – We bought a DeLonghi VLT3000 over 5 years ago. Other than a small error on the instruction sheet which could be forgiven and worked out), it has worked flawlessly for probably 8 hours per day (well night) since. It is used during sleep time, and I guess the "white noise" it produces, with he constant steam of airflow gives a good night sleep to us. I see (as we all do I guess) $30 fans out on the footpath at every clean up. But the DeLonghi has just keep going. As with any mechanical item with constant movement, occasionally one hears a little noise, solved by just placing one's hand on the column and turning a little. If you rotated for 8 hours a night, you'd need a little "touch" now and again! Well worth the extra money spent at the time. If other purchasers have had issues, get someone else to put it together, saves a lot of cheap fans heading to the landfill after a few months of work! In a nutshell, you get what you pay for, and this is an excellent and enduring product, working much more then one may usually expect, but it just keeps on going!

Don't judge the fan by its looks! – Bought two because it looked nice and felt solid. It did the job until just over a year the neck of one of the fans gave way as it couldn't carry its head. Had it serviced to recommended repairer by The Good Guys as it was just over the warranty period. Same thing happened to the other fan a few months later and nearly fell over my two sons. So disappointed! Spent so much for fans that lasted for just over a year. Mind you, I take care of my stuff and do not abuse them. Cheap plastic fans you can buy at supermarkets even surpassed the metal junks. What a joke!

5 STARS – I have 2 of these pedestal fans plus the 40cm desk fan and the 30cm desk fan versions. I have owned them all since the 2010 El Nino season which hit Adelaide so bad all the mid price range fans sold out by February. These were more expensive but you can put your faith in them continuing to function perfectly year after year after year. They are a bit noisier than plastic fans but I think they are also more effective and likely (not sure) more energy efficient. Other reviewers complain of the noise when sleeping but I find it quite calming and I use the fan in the bedroom through most of winter too.

I bought 3 of the fans from David Jones. The one that I bought from a online seller (40cm desk) who sells refurbished stuff is not that good because although it works very well, for some reason there is corrosion on the blades. For this reason I would recommend buying from a reputable seller.

Disappointed – Having looked at this model during winter, I was very impressed with the look and feel of this fan on the showroom floor. Come the first week of summer( and a sudden rise in temperature) our old cheap fan was unreliable and we decided to upgrade. Happily the DeLonghi was on special and we didn't look around. As expected, when we were putting it together everything about it was solid and seemed well made. It looked great, and had a great air flow.

After only one week, having not moved the fan once, it started to rattle on both stationery and oscillation modes. Turning it off during the day, every night the rattle got louder and louder, and new ticking noises started to develop. I tightened everything I could with the good quality screwdriver supplied with the fan, but the noise didn't stop and got louder and louder. I figured out the noise oscillation button, which being metal also, was rattling on the motor. There was nothing that could be done about it.

After two weeks our $159 'new' fan sounded like a 5 year old $20 cheapo, so I decided to take it back. I thought it might be just ours, but on closer inspection to the one in the store the button was the same. Good Guys took it back now worries and told us ours was the fifth one that has been returned, due to various complaints. Faulty batch? Maybe?

I still needed a fan, so opted for another stainless steel model with a plastic knob, which happily is much quieter and at half the price, getting some money back. Like I said I'm disappointed because I had high hopes for the DeLonghi. The look, and the solid build. Rattly and noisy,
