Customer Service
3.7
Value for Money
3.8

 AI reviews summary

Dodo NBN feedback shows a stark divide between long-term customers and those experiencing technical or administrative hurdles. While many users find the service to be a cost-effective and reliable "set and forget" solution, a significant segment of the user base reports severe difficulties with customer support, billing errors, and the cancellation process.

Pros
  • Ease of Setup: The sign-up and initial connection process is frequently described as smooth, fast, and often completed within hours.
  • Value for Money: Competitive introductory pricing and bundle discounts make it a popular choice for budget-conscious consumers and pensioners.
  • Connection Stability: Long-term users and those on FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) plans often report consistent speeds and a reliable service with minimal outages.
  • Loyalty Retention: Some long-term customers report positive experiences with the retention team, receiving ongoing discounts to match new customer offers.
Cons
  • Difficult Cancellation Process: A recurring major complaint is the inability to cancel services online, with users forced into long phone queues where they often face resistance or "lost" cancellation requests.
  • Customer Support Accessibility: Many reports highlight excessive wait times (often exceeding one hour) and a frustrating "ping-pong" effect where users are transferred between multiple departments without resolution.
  • Billing and Administrative Errors: Significant issues were noted regarding unauthorized charges after cancellation, failure to receive invoices, and bugs within the "MyDodo" online dashboard.
  • Technical Support Limitations: Users with complex issues or those requiring specific network configurations often found the support staff relied too heavily on basic scripts rather than technical expertise.
Verdict

Dodo is a viable option for users seeking a straightforward, low-cost NBN connection, particularly if they are tech-savvy enough to manage their own hardware. However, potential customers should be aware that resolving billing disputes or terminating the service can be an extremely difficult and time-consuming process.

5 Tristan D.  · Reliable and consistent service. Any issues were given good notification for and resolved before time allocated.
3 Linda M.  · sometimes its abit slow. no service at all during early hours of the morning. otherwise no other issues. was simple to set up when I got modem.
1 Sher  · The 25mb hardly gives you 18mb most of the times and during peak usage drops to around 12 or 13mbps which is frustrating. Overall its not worth it.
4 Noel  · On the most part everything works well. I had to call.customer support.and they were very good.
5 E R.  · Changed from another reputable ISP recently to take advantage of the current offer. Less dropouts so far. Really happy.
4 Dokkan  · Perfect for gaming and downloading....I watch a lot of movies and play alot of online gaming so it's incredible to have these speeds finally.

Our internet has been very reliable since we started using it, speeds are great and no disruptions. I recently received and email asking if I wanted to drop to a cheaper plan due to not using the higher speeds i was signed up for, first time I've ever had a company do that EVER. impressed at their transparency which is rare. definitely reccomend.

Great price and timely service. We moved into a new house and the team were very helpful in sending a new NBN box and delaying start of our service. Despite our fears with HFC (we were using fttp prior), it's been very zippy. Company are great in communicating outages.

I am very happy with my actual NBN internet and Dodo do a decent job with the service and support around it too. I have been with Dodo for many years, because price is reasonable and I have never had any major issues in dealing with them. Their processes are all straight forward and I always get to speak to a human without much time waiting. The… Read more

staff are usually knowledgeable and communicate well. That said, like any service provided by humans, the quality can vary. With a few exceptions over the years, the operators have generally exceeded my expectations however.

Moving to FTTP recently was without hassle to set up through them and the improved speed and stability has been amazing. I am on the NBN 100 plan to ensure I have no issues with working from home and it has been reliable and significantly improved processing time and enabled better video conferencing etc.

Then in the past few weeks, I have done myself an even bigger favour. What seemed like an outage ended up being a hardware failure my side with the internal mechanism in the router that broadcasts the SSID dying. That said, I decided to take the opportunity to upscale my router and got a TP Link Wifi 6 (AX5400) and it made a decent internet even better. Dodo's NBN service seamlessly passes through full wholesale network speed boosts. The connection delivers incredibly consistent, ultra-fast download and upload speeds over Wi-Fi with rock-solid network stability.

Hardware & Connection Setup:

* NBN Connection Type: Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

* Official Speed Plan: NBN 100

* Router Hardware: TP-Link AX5400 (Wi-Fi 6 Router)

* Test Connection Type: 5GHz Wi-Fi (Wireless)

Speed Test Performance:

* Peak Download Speed: 528.22 Mbps (Significantly exceeding the standard 100 Mbps plan limit due to NBN infrastructure upgrades)

* Sustained Download Speed: 515.38 Mbps * Peak Upload Speed: 46.83 Mbps (Performing at the absolute maximum limit)

* Network Latency (Ping): 9ms – 11ms.

So currently I could not be happier and encourage anyone to consider the benefits of spending a few extra dollars for a good router to get the most out of your connection.

Came over from TPG after they increased their prices and declined a request to offer me one of their new customer deals, despite being with them for 13 years. I’ve been with Dodo for internet for a while now and honestly it’s been a solid, no‑fuss setup. Switched to Dodo NBN in 2023 after using years of primary telco providers like Telstra and Optus, speed has also been delivered in excess advertised rates (e.g., actual speeds typically even better than advertised. Fantastic service and even better value for money! I had an issue finding a provider to suit our remote location, but Dodo came through. I've been with them for over a year and not a single fault. Very happy.

I have been with Dodo for a number of years now. Firstly started with 50 mbps when my kids were younger band am now on 500mbps astheboys are older and streaming and gaming as teens do. Even so I am able to do everything I need and the service is really stable. If I have ever had an issue it is handled quickly and with a happy service agent. Have recommended to friends because of my experience.

These guys are pretty good - they gave me a very reasonable discount and value for money, having more than one account. It's not worth me switching to any other provider as the rate is permanent and the service and internet is better than what I had before:)

I’ve been with Dodo for over a year now, and I am incredibly happy with the service. Dodo actually emailed me to recommend downgrading to a cheaper plan based on my average usage. It was a refreshing, honest approach that helped me save money on my internet bill. I realized I was paying for extra speed I simply didn't need, and since the downgrade, I haven't noticed any drop in performance. The delivered speed is exactly as they promote it (I have 25/10)

On the one occasion I needed technical support, the issue was resolved within minutes. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a dependable Internet.

I switched from NBN 100 with another provider to Dodo NBN500 as I was interested in higher speed for streaming and it was about the same cost as my old NBN100, very easy changeover to Dodo. The speed was reasonably good anything up to 420 Mbps at non peak times and around 200 - 280 Mbps during peak, I also bundled Electricity and Gas for further… Read more

savings, when I switched all of my services were available to browse at anytime on their app, all in one place, I was happy with the services connected.

But after an upgrade on their app many months ago, the Electricity and Gas services dropped off the app and are no longer available to view, meaning not all services in one location, very disappointing as now I have to find emails that relate to Electricity and Gas to view usage, this is very inconvenient.

Dodo advised me via email about a downgrade to save money as my usage was not high for the NBN500 plan and advised me to downgrade to NBN100 to save some money per month, I think this is very professional from Dodo during these tough financial times, well done Dodo.

First off I should say Dodo is trying to pay off people to leave a good review because they offered a $1000 prize in an email and that’s why I’m here to just tell the truth and forfeit my chance to win. DO NOT get internet with Dodo. DO NOT believe the overly positive reviews, they are after prize money. You will find it extremely difficult to… Read more

contact a human if you ever need to contact them, which you will if the power goes out at your house. If you get hold of a human, you won’t be able to understand them unless you are Filipino. The only way you can contact them is via the Telecommunication Ombudsman. It will take a couple of days but you will get a manager to help you. It’s the only way I contact them now. Now, if the power goes out at your house, the modem triggers something on their end to cut off the internet. I have contacted the ombudsman 3 times and every time they talk some rubbish, get me to turn the modem on/off (duh it’s the first thing you do if not multiple times) the internet magically starts working again.

I jumped on the NBN500 bandwagon because I was curious about high speed and with the same price as NBN100, it's the perfect time to try. The changeover process from Superloop to Dodo was okay with minimal fuss. The speed was pretty good and hardly any outages, but I live in the metro area and all my previous NBN providers had no issues with… Read more

speed and unexpected outages either. So I think I'm also just lucky with the infrastructure. In my dealings with Dodo, I used their phone, live chat and email feedback services, they all replied courteously and promptly. Generally Dodo is a pretty good NBN provider.

There are just two small pieces of feedback I have about Dodo: 1. Lack of email invoices. Dodo relies extremely heavily on their mobile app. All monthly invoices only appear on their app with no option for an emailed copy. So I have to separately remember to download the invoice for my own financial records. This differs from all my previous NBN providers such as Aussie broadband, Superloop etc, which offered emailed invoice for easy reference. I actually emailed this feedback to Dodo, as I don't think it's very hard to set up sending bulk email in this day and age, but despite the nicely worded reply, Dodo has no plans for such a change.

2. Inconvenience of the Dodo app. As they rely so heavily on their app, it's extremely annoying that you have to sign in each time on iPhone, unlike some other NBN provider apps which scans your Face ID and remembers your login. I could take a sign-in every few months for security reasons, but every time?! I mean, even my driver's license app opens with just Face ID, what's so top secret about my NBN account? It's really a hassle, maybe that's their set-and-forget strategy! In fact, I did forget about change plans/providers once their 6-month discount period is up, so they were very successful if that's their plan. Also, their invoices don't record your AVC ID unlike my previous providers. So to change to a new provider, it's another sign-in onto their app just to find it.

On the upside, as everything is on their app, it's actually super easy to cancel their service on the app. I noticed some reviews mentioned long wait on the phone, but the cancel process is a few clicks on the app. Please note, they do require a minimum of 30 days' notice for cancellation.

Another great service Dodo provided was that they actually sent me an email recommending I downgrade my plan. Since I only wanted to try NBN500 and hadn't upgraded my router to Wifi 7, I never reached NBN500's speed with my older hardware and my VPN (which adds another speed bump). I managed to average download speed of about 260Mbps with an upload speed of 40Mbps on Wifi 5 (802.11ac) router. During peak hours, my download speed have dropped to about 220Mbps at times. Previously I was on NBN50, and honestly, I really didn't feel that much of a difference in my everyday web browsing experience. The only time I celebrated the faster speed was when I was downloading large files, the green bar filled up satisfyingly fast. The fact that Dodo picked up on that and notified me about potential savings was very loyalty-inspiring.

We’ve been with dodo forever! We had issues with nbn for a while but once we updated the router and hardened the fibre optic cable against a rogue mouse in the wall, we’ve had excellent internet access and speeds! Customer support and technical support has always been prompt and excellent! This review supersedes other reviews by me about dodo!

A dodo, ain't they extinct?! Well this NBN internet feels at time endangered cause it is one of a kind, stand alone among the other flightless internets. My rating is 4/5, it is somewhat reliable internet however Dodo can't offer an emergency service, maybe cause of their small little wings, idk. But regardless of outages dodo rep's are always ready to squark in supportive service to resolve any difficulties.

Connectivity is great, didn't have dropped since I have it for 7 months. However, never reached 500 mbps, maximum reached 400 mbps once out of the times we tested, usually stays around 250 mbps. However, still no issue for us, due to the amount of devices we use currently.
