Not Happy with 3 Dysons – First Dyson upright was breast cancer colour and I loved it, but very first time I followed the filter washing exactly as directed, it never worked properly again. Second DC 29 model lasted 5 years, the agitator stopped working, & it now won't properly vacuum my rugs. Does Dyson care? Nope! After sending me a video, then asking me for a video of… Read more

the agitator not working, they replied that my 2-year warranty was up. $700 vacuum (at sale price) & lasts only 5 years? Told Dyson they should be ashamed of themselves. Third Dyson is a stick and sticks when I open the canister. No more Dysons for me; just bought a highly rated UK vacuum instead for $600 that is said to last for many years, & I don't care that I'm going to drag a happy- faced canister around and deal with bags - the reliability and extra suction are worth it!

So.. I have 3 dyson barrel vacuums so far. I bought a DC05 back in 2002 when my eldest child was born. After 23 years it is still running and we use it in our holiday house. Have changed the filter to a HEPA filter. We bought a DC29 about 14 years ago when it was released and happy to say it's still running fine. We use it at home. I've always… Read more ·  1

washed and changed filters when necessary.. especially the "lifetime" HEPA ones as they do get clogged. Recently I needed to get a garage vacuum and found a 2nd hand absolute ( forgot what exact model but it had a slightly different attachment mechanism. When I got it I found the filters have disintegrated and replace them after cleaning the vacuum up. All 3 are still working perfectly. Today I bought a brand new turbine head for the dc29 off FB marketplace and my goodness it sucks even more dust and dirt from the carpets.. however. So yes.. Dyson vacuum suck big time in a good way :)

Updated with a photo of my dc29

10 years and still going strong – We’ve had our Dyson DC29 for 10 years plus. And we love her to death! She’s like a Frankenstein of Dyson parts, replaced heads and handles over the years. The engine has never failed and the suction is amazing. I’m no princess with my vacuum cleaners they get dropped dragged and knocked. I expect them to suck up everything from dirt, dust, and… Read more ·  1

the standard pet hair to spiderwebs and leaves in our paved outdoor area.

Looking at buying a new vacuum cleaner but just don’t think I’ll find one that will fill such big shoes. So I’m now on Gumtree looking for secondhand ones to replace the plastic chipped parts – I don’t think I can separate myself from her. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the motor, suction, filter or hoses.

I've had two Miele vacuums before this one and I’m not sure I’d go back. Wish they still made this little beauty.

Pretty Good vac – Looking for info on my DC 29 info to see if it came with a hepa filter ? and what version is it L or M or some other? Are L or M type filters available? Over 10 years old bought new from Myers, used mainly on timber and tile floors with a small carpeted area we have 5 bed rooms and two large living areas. went through renovations in 2013 and the builders cleaned up all manner of debris and dust and sanding did not miss a beat. Show details ·  1

Vaccum – This is awesome vaccum. I use this for my carpet. My husband who has asthma loves this vaccum. I also use this in the floor tiles and it works really good. No issues with tipping over.

Very Disapointed with the effectiveness and lifespan! – When researching it states Dyson vacuums usually last around 10-15 years. I stronly feel given the price for a Dyson vacuum is not acceptable that after 6 years it does not suck up dirt and from early on always produced a foul smell when in use. The produt was always regularly cleaned and cared for following the recommended company care… Read more

Disappointing – I purchased this vacuum cleaner 9 years ago from Harvey Norman and was very excited to try a Dyson. About a month into it, the hose started whistling constantly. There were no breaks to the hose though. When emptying the barrel, it was difficult to put back on as it would release itself from the clip, despite me putting it on correctly. A… Read more

call to the service centre was disappointing as I was basically told that it was my fault and I was probably not putting the barrel back on correctly. In frustration, I hung up and didn’t bother again.

I was expecting to be wowed by the vacuum but was seriously underwhelmed.

I am now in the market for a new vacuum and will not be replacing it with a Dyson.

Up in a puff of smoke – Considering this model is nearly 10 years old I'm not surprised is discontinued. I'm not likely to buy another Dyson because it didn't do any better than any other vacuum that I have owned. Good vacuum cleaner. Overly priced though – Good suction. Cleans quickly but very difficult to manage. I inherited it, so I cant complain about the price! Gave it a good service, cleaned filters etc. It has difficulty with cat hair that my $99 Kmart battery stick vacuum picks up first go. Admittedly the Kmart Vacc has a turbo head. Lately the wheels on the Dyson have began to jam. Its very… Read more

hard to pull along at the best of times, now it would rather capsize than follow me. I cant see how to repair this. It looks like the wheels are secured by a one-way clip, and if I force the wheels off it will break. The head is very difficult to change from hard floor to carpet. The symbols suggest you can use your foot - no way. I have to pick it up and use both hands to change it. The cord winder is very sluggish and mostly I have to help it by pushing the cord in. But worst is the bagless design! Dont take it out to the bin and expect to empty it without a dust storm! Besides, who wants "raw" dust in a bin? Imagine the mess when the garbage blokes empty it. So most people tip the dust into a PLASTIC bag - to go to landfill! Is it better than the Sanyo "Myte-Hunter" it replaced? No. That is still going strong as my garage vac. And emptying the dirt is a doddle! ( It uses a bag... And being paper they degrade easily in landfill).

Practical, powerful vacuum cleaner – I have had this for a few years now and I use it on both hard floors and carpets as well as cleaning my car and find this easy to use and has, plenty of power. The attachments are useful for hard to reach areas and does not require much in maintenance except to clean the filter once every few months. The only downside to this compared to my last dyson was the, connection to hold the hose isn't as user friendly. Show details

It works very well Still in use 2023 – We picked up a full barrel just after I used my old vacuum. People that say it looses power they must have something caught in the pipe. We wash filter and there is no smell. I presume people vacuum stuff they shouldn’t and then say it smells. This is a good vacuum and easy to move around. After 10 years it still retracts cord the whole way. The tool storage on the stick is strong. Show details

Very good in general , but not I will prefer cordless in the further – Firstly I have to say the performance and suction of Dyson is unbeatable. I stop sweap my floor, it only take 10 mins to clean the floor with Dyson. But it is not so quite, and always lots of dust hiding inside the dust cabin even after I tip out the dust. And I would look like if it is wireless, so I do not have to change switch several times during one cleaning.  Show details

Dyson's are a wonderful vacuum cleaner – I have been very happy with this Dyson for about 10 years - easy to clean & has great suction - will be buying another Dyson. Dyson best vacuum ever – Dyson vacuum is the very best vacuum I have ever owned. Had top of the market to bottom of the market but after owning a Dyson I wouldn't ever buy anything else. Sucks well but long term use not good – The suction is really good but it gets blocked frequently enough at the point between the head and the pipe then makes a super loud revving sound. I wasted $100+ on a new head to realise it doesn't help the problem. Still works after all these years but would go for a different make next time.  Show details

Started out great then not so much – We have the dyson DC29 and when i first used it I was very impressed. Over the course of 3 years it has become less than impressive. It lost power (although they say they don't), the floor attachment is difficult to use at best, the plastic tube and hand piece are flimsy, the wheel are noisy. If I had the choice again I wouldn't buy a Dyson. … Read more

I have a cheap shop vac that work 100% better which is a real shame.

Just as some additional information yes all filters have been cleaned and/or replaced and it makes no difference. Very disappointing in this one as dyson do make some decent products.

Going Strong For 12 Years!! – This cleaner has been helping us clean 3 family homes. Best suction by far of ANY cleaner I've tried previously or since. If there has ever been a problem, the call centre have been marvellous. simple to fix. All in all,I'm wrapped in Dyson and also bought 2 stick cleaners for our children in their homes.

Good suction but a bit heavy to haul around – Bought it at a sale at good guys 4 years ago, very happy still works like a treat. A bit bulky but durable, has lasted several knocks and kicks. Acceptable performance but heavy – I have been regularly sing this dyson vacuum since last about 10 months. Happy with the performance. Long power cord helps me to move around rooms and family areas without unplugging and plugging hassle. Though it's bit heavy my wife doesn't like to use, but I like to keep it as it's sucking dust and small objects quite well. Overall happy with the buy.  Show details

Strong suction but can struggle with long hair – Dyson have a reputation for strong, quality products. We bought this after a recommendation from family who'd been using the larger model. it can jam the spinner. This requires us to remove the head, open it up and cut out the hair. We'll continue using this for now, but would likely look at other options for our next vacuum cleaner.
