Overall: There is no problem with the suction, but hate the large handle on the top of the suction coil. This vac is hard to move around the floor as the suction coil is not fitted to the front of the vac but the side. And it is so noisy they cat and dog both hate it. I have never had such a noisy vacuum. Previously had an Electrolux and have just ordered one on line and after 3 months of the Dyson have sold it. Never again Dyson.
Cons: Head scratches the wooden floors and won't such past the bristles
Overall: In October 2010 I finally bought a Dyson and got rid of the crappy cheap vacuums I have had all my life.
I wasn't too happy with the Dyson. The suction has never been a problem, its only fault is the head on this model. It is scratching my wooden floors.
I reckon the problem is the suction is so good that the bristles are put under so much pressure that it won't allow the dirt and dust to get into the hose past the bristles. If you know what I mean. I have to lift the head up to pick up the dust which I am just pushing around the floor. I have tried to adjust the floor type selector which doesn't make any difference.
I have persisted with this problem since October 2010 and today I finally rang Dyson as it's still under warranty.
Dyson was SO GOOD. They are sending me out a new head from a updated model free of charge.
Dyson I have been disappointed for a while now with me purchase but I have renewed faith in this product and I await my delivery
Pros: reliable, does fantastic job, good quality construction
Cons: More expensive than other brands
Overall: Have had Dysons in the past and missed the quality of the job they did. Since buying this one we have both been shocked at how much dirt, skins and dust was left in our carpets after the last vac had been used.
It is easy to assemble, use, move around the house. The different heads that are available make the cleaning of other house hold items easier.
If you register the product on line you also get friendly reminders from Dyson as to when to change the filters in your vac.
Overall: New carpets and hard flooring - new vacuum cleaner a must. A friend had a Dyson and I had used it often - but could I afford it?? After looking on-line, on eBay, on the Dyson site, etc - I decided to look in some of the discount appliance stores, first on-line and then in-store. I found my dream machine Dyson DC29 at the Good Guys and they were absolutely the cheapest I had seen. In fact I was staggered when they said how much it would cost. $200 off the ticket price!! And now I love vacuming , the Dyson is so easy to manoeuvre and has fantastic suction on both carpet and hard floors. The canister is simple to empty and keep clean, and the air that comes from the vacuum cleaner is fresh and clean! I have a doggie with white fur, and the vacuum cleaner copes easily with any stray hairs.
I would recommend the extra money be spent on a Dyson vacume anyday!
Pros: It is sooooo easy and QUICK to empty and there is no filter to painstakingly clean - only a sponge that you simply wash out every 6 months and Dyson email you to remind you and give you instructions on how to do it. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Cons: No con yet except I wasted hundreds over the years on approx 4 other expensive but inefficient and ultimately throw away cleaners that either broke easily AND/or were time consuming to empty and clean filters or needed costly new bags
Overall: My Dyson cost me approx $383 from The Good Guys during a special promotion in early 2010.
Ive never been happier with a vacuum cleaner and I wish I had just paid up and bought one years ago instead of going for the cheaper options!! The total cost of all the other crap cleaners I bought over the years would of paid for the dyson a few times over... and I could've avoided countless hours of stuggling with tedious and time consuming filter cleanings and retaping of broken bits and connections with poor suction results and expensive replacement bags!!
Has onboard attachments for blinds, dusting areas/shelves, stairs etc and is relatively easy to move around with an adjustably long pole so your not hunched over using it.
So easy to use and empty and only clean filter sponge 6 mthly by rinsing! No other filters to be dealt with. Emptying takes 1 minute.
Has great suction - I can see the carpet lifting off the ground so I know it is really getting all the ground in dirt.
I love it. I love my Dyson - if it were a person my partner would be jealous!
Pros: Amount of dirt it picks up it's amazing. Good suction.
Cons: It is hard to move and when I pull it it does tip over.
Overall: We had a Volta it was cheap and didn't last. I was borrowing my mums electrolux which was a good vacuum. When I went to buy a vacuum I did some research and went for a Dyson. I used mums vacuum then vacuumed straight away with my new Dyson and it picked up a lot of dirt. I was shocked and wondered where it all came from as I had just vacuumed with the electrolux also a new model at the time. I also paid a little extra and got a turbo head then did a vacuum and that picked up even more. Amazing. I took pictures of the dirt it picked up cause I couldn't believe it. The Dyson sucked a heap of rubbish out. Very impressed. I did have problem with my turbo head I got but they replaced it quickly and easily and were great to deal with. New one is fine. Cost me nothing to send off and get replaced. Only thing is the vacuum tips over but who cares worth it for good job it does. I think they have a new model out now that is easier to move and doesn't tip. Worth looking into. I would never buy any other vacuum. I have many friends that agree. Get a Dyson!!
Dyson DC29 is a barrel vacuum cleaner with dual-mode floor tool.
Features:
Lightweight adjustable wand: Ergomonically designed for ease of use.
Radix Cyclone technology: Ordinary vacuums use a bag or filter to capture dirt and dust. They clog and lose suction, leaving dirt behind. Dyson vacuums don’t rely on bags or filters. They use powerful centrifugal forces to spin dust from the air.
Dual mode floor tool: For dirt pick-up on all floor types. Switches easily between carpets and hard floors.
Detachable handle / hose: Allows click-fit tools to fit directly to the end of the handle or hose for cleaning confined space
Here's a list of questions other people have asked about Dyson DC29
Have just purchased the Dyson DC29, has anyone else had problems with a high pitch sound from the engine/ Retailer told me it was normal for bagless vacuums?
The motor is loud as it has a powerful suction. If you still have warranty on the unit, have it checked out by an authorised Dyson agent. Don't believe a retailer as they are not electrical or technically minded. They are salesmen that earn a living probably with a commission. If in doubt, ask to see the same unit operating (from another shop)and see if it has a high pitch. Mine is loud but not high pitch loud enough to turn it off. Good luck, hope this advise helped.
