Repaired during warranty, now dead – This stove had to be repaired within warranty. Over time the touch controls to turn a sector on have become more and more unreliable although it worked fine once you got it going. Now, 2 weeks before Christmas it has died after only a couple of minutes of cooking. The H displays but the unit simply refuses to turn back on. At best, there is a momentary flash of life, but that's all. And no repairmen appointments before 22 December, assuming they even have parts on hand.
Very Good - Until – I convinced my wife that moving from gas to induction was the future and, until today, it was. The unit we have is now 5 years old, is installed over a utensil drawer so 250 mm of clearance, and on a separate wiring circuit. Cooking dinner tonight the cooktop responded with an E3 code whenever a saucepan was placed on the left hand side. Rang support and we worked out that this would require a $160 service call, to start, and then we could be looking at real money.
My wife loves the induction, but she also loved the gas (a lot). Gas would not fail after 5 years. The install we have done was so 'overspec' as far as clearance that heat should have been easily allowed for. And this evening I had only started cooking.
I suppose my real problem is that, in my enthusiasm, I have converted at least 5 close friends to the same or similar Electrolux products. Are they also going to be looking at failures?
discrace – After just under 3 years my cook top is not working E3 comes up and the fan keeps cutting in and out. O keeps flashing. Had a quote to fix this $1300. Not good enough considreing i paid $1800. What is electrolux going to do about these unreliable inafficiant product. I have looked at other makes and they do not have this 5mm gap.My cabinet maker and electrician did not do this as with any other make it is not needed. Is this why it is not working!!! If that is the case it is an absolute discrace to have to have a gap in your cubourds.

not working after only 3 years

Sheryl - I have the exact same issue - except mine is not even 6 months old - I have been told it’s not covered under warranty even though its ventilated the back?? really disappointing... The engineer who came out could not wait to advise that he didn't have to attempt at looking at the fault... thanks Electrolux - I will be steering very clear of any of your products in the future if this is the service that is provided...
E3 error after 3 years – I have had this cooktop for 3 years , it worked fine, then all of a sudden it stopped working with an E3 error. After waiting 3 weeks, a technician attempted to repair it by replacing 2 powerboards which were blown. It still doesn't work. He is saying the ventilation gap is not big enough. A 5mm gap has been installed as indicated in the installation guidelines. Kitchen company did not want to install the gap. THey insist no one has ever asked them to put a ventilation gap under an induction cooktop before. THey did it for me anyway. But I have checked around and noticed that eg. Miele induction cooktops do not require a ventilation gap. SO why does Electrolux require it. I have noticed many other reviews on this website where customers have complained of the same error after 2 to 3 years of ownership. Does the Electrolux induction cooktop have a major overheating fault!!!

Hi, I have the same problem with my cooktop. Have you some answer ?
Same E3 error has now appeared on mine. Looking at $800 to fix. Looks like an ongoing product fault.
I have been thinking about purchasing an Induction Cooktop as I'm replacing my Granite Benchtops and like the look and what I have seen of the cooking properties of the Induction Cooktops. Having read the reviews on Electrolux and the problems people seem to be having once the warranty runs out I would be too nervous to spend that amount of money on something that seems to have ongoing faults, especially as people don't seem to get help from the company until the write a negative review. I will now look into other brands.

Hi Sylvia, Electrolux have supplied me with a brand new induction cooktop at no cost to me, (other then the time I have spent while the tried to fix the old one). The new one is working fine. I still have question marks over why the first one broke, so we will see what happens with the new one, it is the same model (it obviously had to fit into the cutout on my bench). I am not happy with the initial response from Elecrolux on this issue, and the lack of information relating to the ventillation gap. I noticed in the manual for the current model of this cooktop , the diagrams relating to the ventillation gap are a lot clearer! I did have to argue strongly for a new cooktop, and to be honest, the only reason I got it was because the retailer (winnings) stepped in and argued my case for me.

Hi Nicole if not to rub salt in the wound electroux has quoted 2100 to fix it ,spoke to Electrolux UK who sent diagrams and prices aswell guess what all the same parts to fix it are under 500 dollars from the UK , what a mark up on parts ,good customer rip of big time please explain .
happend to my EHD68200, replaced 2 IGBT and a Bridge, total cost = 50$, worked for 6 month, then happend again, same plate, using the same PAN, so i think there is a problem in my inducting coil, on that specific pan... will try and swap inductor coils around and see what happens next :)
Same E3 error on my EHD6676P. This is the second time it happened within 5 years.
