Electrolux EPEE63AS - died using self-clean option for first time – Wish I had checked reviews on this oven before using the pyroclean option - the oven shut off, door locked and the F08 error message popped up. Now need to replace the oven as insurer won't cover faulty parts and sparky said it's not fixable (of course out of warranty)... really, really unimpressed for what was an expensive oven! Will never buy an Electrolux oven again. Show details
Hopeless – Have had the oven for 3 years (it was brand new when we bought the house) and decided to use the pyro function for the first time this morning as the oven wasn't too bad as i don't use it that much. Now it has switched off after about 40 mins and there is a terrible burning almost toxic smell and sound of crackling in the oven. I don't dare open… Read more
the door as I'm too scared to see what I will find. I'm extremely disappointed as I expected more from this brand. If I went out I seriously wonder if the house would have caught on fire. This is such a dangerous product. I wish I had read the reviews before using the pyrolytic function but for goodness sake why have this function built in if it destroys your oven when you use it? I wonder if it will still work once it cools down as it's extremely hot. If I have to replace this oven (or any appliance in the future) I am never getting anything from Electrolux.
One day later the chemical smell is all through the house even with fans going and windows open all day and night. It's unbelievable. I went and turned it off at the mains, waited a while then turned it back on. Oven asked me to set time. I started doing this and it went to FO8 error again. Cannot open door at all. Obviously it's ruined so will have to get a new oven. No wonder this has been discontinued but screw Electrolux for allowing it to be sold for so long. NOT HAPPY :(
Electrolux. Huge and expensive disappointment – This is a cheaply made item dressed up in a premium brand. We have now owned this oven for ten years and had so many repairs and part replacements. I expected to have zero problems for 20 years at this level. I should have spent a quarter of the money had a better item. - The hinges were never designed to manage the weight of the door and… Read more
failed quickly so the door would not close properly. Our handyman ingeniously rescued the device with parts he adapted from elsewhere.
- We are on the second electronic board which has also just failed
- The buttons on the controller had started to fail, so we had to set the time with one button only (what an ordeal). No spares available
- we have replaced heating elements

Excellent Performance – We bought this back in 2012 so it is now over 5 years old. It has been a very reliable appliance with no problems or faults except for the oven light bulb which was no problem to replace. Very easy to program cooking times, temperatures and functions with great results. The push buttons are of excellent quality and precision. Cooks with very… Read more
even temperature We activate the Pyrolytic cleaning function about once every six months and the result has always been a sparkling clean oven and all that has been required is to sweep up or vacuum the ash residue and a quick wipe over of the inside surfaces. We don't include the oven trays and racks when performing the cleaning function due to our concerns that the extra heat may cause those items to warp. The advantage of the pyrolytic clean function is that everything inside the oven is cleaned including the fan blade which would be difficult to clean using a conventional oven cleaner.
Electrolux EPEE63AS – Wanted a top shelf oven with Pyrolytic cleaning option, expensive compared to the other options. Two service calls covered by warranty in first 12 months.Pyrolytic function used 3-4 times, used to-day and door will not open, showing an F8 Fault function ? February 5th 2017 Update: Follow up on my review 9 December 2016
As requested by Narelle from Electrolux, we contacted them and a service call was organized. We paid for a service call and Electrolux paid for the parts and labour. I feel this was a fair outcome as the oven was out of warranty at the time. Thank you Electrolux for your service.
Love it – I was reading the reviews as I wanted to recommend this oven to my son . I have had my oven for approx 3-4 years. I had researched ovens before i purchased. This was the one that gave me the features I wanted. I did not want an oven that the racks would not fit into a dishwasher. I wanted the side racks to able to be put back in when the oven… Read more
was hot, as i wash them in the dishwasher while the oven cleans and I have often forgot they are not in the oven when i have heated it to cook. This oven allows me to snap them in even when at full temp.
I had no restrictions on budget and yet I chose this oven. It was not my first pyrolitic oven and I will always choose Pytolitic. Wiping a small amount of ash away is so easy I would use this oven approx 4-5 times a week and clean it as requiredand I have had no problem in any way. the only negative i can think of is it only came with one wire shelf and I prefer two so I purchased this at the beginning. Love my oven!

It's been okay but all of a sudden – Add us to the list of people who have had problem s with this oven. Out of warranty, but during the cleaning cycle today, there was a horrific burning smell and at the end of the cycle, the error code F08 appeared and the door would not (still won't open). Cost over $2100 and it now appears we are shopping for a new oven tomorrow - not what I was… Read more
expecting for a built in cycle which we had focussed on as a reason for buying it. Very disappointed and it won't be an Electrolux replacement and that's for sure.
epee63as – Crap oven. Pyro function never really worked. Last time the glass was so hot it nearly burnt my hands. Shuts off halfway through. Wouldn't open door. Never really heated properly. already had to replace fan in oven. Now the oven is turning off like its turned off at the mains. Hours later it will turn on asking for the clock to be set. can cook but it may turn off 10 min into cooking and do the same thing all over again. Done this 20 times in the last two weeks. Anyone else had this problem
Cooked itself – Installed this oven a few years ago, Seldom used, only used the Pyro clean 3 times as only used rarely, anyway decided to do a pyro clean on it, and while it started the clean , half way through it fried the mother board, completely stuffed, going off the reviews on this site will not even bother trying to get it repaired, Will replace it but certainly not with another Electrolux - JUNK Show details

Very poor product and dangerous – My mum bought one of these for her kitchen reno. Oven locked, F08 on pure clean. PCB needed replacing. That was a year ago, no just keeps tripping the circuit breaker. Push buttons on the front get so hot you can't touch them. Extremely dangerous product. I am surprised there wasn't a product recall on these. Show details
Pyrolitoc clean f08 error - oven is rubbish – Same as everyone else - bad smell toward end of clean and error f08 First time we used the pyrolytoc clean function The constant stream of the same issue is so alarming - they should all be recalled and replaced Chicken always took almost double recommended time, as did baking cakes - Substandard quality product anyway but the thought of the… Read more
house having gone up in flames is terrifying Oven came with house we bought 2 years ago so I don't expect to get any joy from electrolux and if not then we will certainly avoid the brand going forward and will be contacting various consumer groups to make them aware of this issue
This oven should have been recalled. Extremely dangerous Fire hazard – This was a very expensive oven supposedly providing convenient cheap and effective self cleaning Pyrolytic action. In practice, I consider myself extremely lucky that it did not burn my house down. The problem happened a couple of years ago with fault code (Can't remember which) indicating overheating during pyrolytic cleaning. The power was… Read more
turned off for a short period of time to reset things but when we turned it back on again, the cooling fan was not operating and the door was locked. The heat continued to build up with smoke being produced from the cabinet. There was NOTHING we could do to help the appliance to cool down to a safe temperature other than stand by with a garden hose. Eventually after some considerable time the temperature reduced to a point that would allow the door to be opened. We have not used the cleaning function again and NEVER will. This Oven was supposed to last a long time but we have no trust in it any more. We are a retired couple with limited finances to replace it. The other problem with replacing it is that we also bought the matching microwave oven (very overpriced but matches the oven). So to replace the oven, we also have to replace the microwave and pay a cabinet maker and electrician to install something that is less likely to burn our house down.
This model should have been recalled and I have no faith that the newer ones are any less dangerous.
Very disappointed with Electrolux and I will never buy another of their products, and hope that others reading this will be warned off.
Dangerous product – As with many of the reviews below we have never been satisfied with the temperature settings on the oven. Faulty Pyrolytic Process – After completion of Pyrolytic process oven door would not open. Research indicated this was a common fault. This oven cannot cook – Feature wise this oven has it all but since new it has never cooked evening nor at the set temperature. Build quality and Pyroletic function unsatisfactory – We chose to install all new Electrolux appliances in our kitchen renovation early in 2012. also used the Pyrolytic function several times during this period. Then approximately 18 months ago the while using the Pyrolytic function the process faulted and an error code was displayed F08. The Trouble shooting section in the owners manual suggested turning the power off to the oven for 20 seconds and then back on, this seemed to reset the fault and the oven was functional again.
We steered clear of using this function until last week when not only did the Pyrolytic function fault again, displaying the same error as before, a small amount of smoke followed by a smell of melting plastic was noticed. The door lock is active and power cycling has not reset the oven this time.
A service agent was called and repairs suggested along with the repair price. The oven is now well out of the warranty period.
Thanks to the people who have taken time to complete previous reviews for this product. The reviews have definitely influenced our decision to replace the oven rather than go ahead with repairs.
Rubbish appliance!! – So oven started faulting about 8 weeks ago. Contacted the extended warranty back up plan company underwritten by AIG. September 5th 2016 Update: WARNING FIRE DANGER
Follow up on my review 5 July 16
To give credit where its due after negotiation electrolux agreed to repair oven at no cost to us even though it was out of warranty.
Repaired by sub contract repair agent and reinstalled 23 august16 some seven weeks after failure.
Normal oven function working ok.
Pyro function not used , after three failures on two different ovens we have no confidence in this function.
We are not alone as can be seen with all the other reviewers that have had the same failure.
Perhaps Electrolux should issue a warning to owners OR A PRODUCT RECALL

Electrolux Pyrolytic over causes a fire – We brought the oven and had been using it for about 3 months (just got a new kitchen in), we had noticed that cooking times and temp were out a bit however one day, we decided to cook small roast in the baking tray it comes in (from wool worths or coles). Anyway the over got that hot that it actually caused the fat in the tray to catch fire, spill… Read more
out over the sides and whola, the pyrolytic paint at the bottom of the oven is now destroyed. Looks like the oven set at 185deg C was more like 280 or above - was nearly as hot as a pyro clean.
Now we have a nice looking over, with some minor issues we were ok with (cooking time, temp issues and poor cleaning), that we have no idea on how to clean (can't use the pyro cleaning - which did make the surrounding benches really hot).
If I could I would get the inside oven housing (the pyrolytic internal housing) replaced, but you can't buy one. So now we are going to try and get either second hand one and I will replace the gear myself.
Or even better we will get a more reliable, quality made and assessed oven.
Loved the oven at the start, great functions, great look then wow.'

Worst Oven Ever: Don't buy unless you are only going to warm up convenience food – I chose this oven firstly because it was pyrolytic self cleaning as my friend had a Miele and it was a dream but I couldn't afford a Miele; secondly I wanted to support an Australian company; and third it was the best of a bad bunch when it came to internal size- why are modern ovens so tiny inside? been using for 35 years.
To date I have not had a problem with the pyro clean, it just doesn't do a very good job. Having read these reviews I will be very cautious using it in future.
The oven itself is a complete disaster. It is absolutely impossible to cook anything properly, it is very "wet" and steams EVERYTHING. Roast meat and get come out soggy, pastry doesn't cook, if you use the bottom shelf everything burns on the bottom so really you can only cook one thing at a time. The temperature is so badly calibrated that if the recipe calls for 180 I cook on 250 and add another 50% to the baking time- a 1.5 kilo lamb roast takes nearly 3 hours to cooke. The spacing of the shelves is bizarre. After only a few weeks unsightly staining developed between the 2 glass layers of the door.
When I eventually managed to actually get Electrolux to send a technician to check the venting and the temperature gauge he informed me that temperatures were "a guide only", and there was nothing he could do. He said everyone comained about the food steaming and that it was simply a badly designed oven. The abovementioned friend bought one at the same time for her beach house- she cooked for us one night and apologised for the condition of the food- and proceeded to related exactly the same problems I have experienced. I will never buy an Electrolux again.

It's a POR883 I'm pretty sure – Happy with the cooking part in it, no to do with the "cleaning option" on it. It locked the bloody door shut. How do I unlock it? Please tell me I don't have to wait for someone to come do it??? Hopefully this is an easy resolution pretty please (praying)
Pyro clean never worked properly from new – Similar issues to others here. Pyro clean never worked properly from new. Shutting down with fault codes part way through the pyro cycle. Surrounding cupboards were so hot I thought… Read more
they were going to catch fire. Even after turning the power off I could hear a crackling sound coming from the digital display or directly behind it like it was burning and the oven was extremely hot for hours. Way too hot to touch either the oven or the surrounding cupboards. VERY CONCERNING!!!
Now nothing works. Called the repair place who came to look at it and basically said the entire electrical part of the oven had suffered a major burn out. We were lucky it didn't burn the entire house down.
He said the cost of the repairs would likely be in excess of the warrranty limit meaning a new replacement oven would probably be supplied. (Thankfully I took out the extended warranty on this oven)
A new oven. That's great however I have a matching compact oven/microwave mounted directly below this which won't match the replacement oven. Just what I want in my new house (5 years old). Miss-matching appliances. I seriously doubt that Electrolux will supply me with a new compact oven to match the replacement oven and I'm not about to go out and buy another matching compact oven after this....
Going by the reviews listed here this seems to have been a common fault with these ovens. If this is the case then why they weren't recalled???
Unfortunately I've had similar issues with an Electrolux washing machine that I bought at the same time as the ovens. No extended warranty on the washing machine either so I had to pay for a new one.....
almost burnt my house down – pyro clean function failed, had to call fire brigade. all internal plastics and seals melted. under the extended warranty a local business was sent out to resolve problem. plastics and seals fixed. three months later, and now out of warranty pyro clean fail again (don't think original fault was ever found or fixed). after calling electrolux i… Read more

not closing correctly, so once again I contacted a trades person. This happened another two times.
PYROLYTIC FUNCTION DAMAGED THE OVEN: I utilised the pyrolytic function and the heat expanded all of the metal face plate on the control panel and none of the control buttons would operate. I COULD NOT TURN THE OVEN OFF. I had to remove the face plate so the buttons could once again operate as the metal plate expanded so much.
I have since had more trades persons and technicians come around to fix the problem but they cannot and stated it was a manufacturing issue call ELECTROLUX. I was also directed onto this site to make sure other people are aware of the issues. Come on ELECTROLUX you were a great company what happened?

rectify all the terrible problems with these ovens? Have had bad experiences with the pyrolitic function , doors not shutting properly and now this. Also cooks very unevenly.
September 6th 2016 Update: Second oven of this model has now failed and house filled with acrid smoke.
Put the meat on automatic to come on while at work and be ready to add the veges to roast for dinner guests when I came home. Came home to find the house filled with black acrid smoke, the meat burnt to a frazzle and the cupboards above grimy with sooty grease. The oven was off and wouldn't function. It had obviously flicked to pyrolytic mode, done the terrible damage and fortunately cut out before burning the house down. Had to open all windows in cold weather to let smoke out, buy hot chickens to feed guests and cook rest of meal on stovetop.
Last time after first oven failed after using pyrolytic Electrolux replied and told me to contact Electrolux NZ. They said I had to provide proof of purchase docket before they did anything. Am far too busy to go hunting that up and have limped along over summer with only one oven. And now this!! They need to compensate for this terrible performance.
Electrolux Pyroluxe Oven EPEE63AS*42 – We've had this oven from new for 4 years and now the door won't close properly. We've been told the door needs new springs at a cost of $140 and no guarantee that will fix the problem. I've read all the problems with the pyro cleaning function, but we've used that function about 6 times and all is ok. Disappointing after only 4 years though that such a basic problem has occurred.
FAIL FAIL FAIL – Purchased this oven about 5 years ago and bought it for the pyro clean mode. It worked intermittently but now won't work at all, as the other reviews have said the oven just turns off part way through the cleaning cycle. Bad buy. Don't buy one you will be disappointed.

pyroluxe function and subsequent customer service that I received after the one and only time using the pyro function. The pyro certainly cleaned the oven but left a dull smear on the floor of the oven where some food had been spilt. The light also never worked again after we used the pyro function this one and only time. Having read the manual and tried the suggested remedy for the dull smear, which didn't work, I phoned customer service. They gave me the name of our local repairer. After contacting them and sending photos, they phoned me to say that Electrolux would not even consider repairing it under warranty. In amazement, I phoned Electrolux myself only to be laughed at by a very rude customer service operator as I had not cleaned the oven before using the pyro function. I laughed saying you must be kidding. I had paid extra to have the advantage of the self cleaning function. She basically told me I was lazy and stupid telling me "it wasn't designed to clean the oven but just enhance the cleaning process". I was understandably upset and distraught and hung up. I was always going to look into it further and take my concerns higher, but disillusioned, I just put up with it.

Oven can't switch on – I've been having several issues with my oven lately. The oven completely shuts down two weeks ago, total power failure, the clock was not showing at all. Had to call in a technician who had to replace the electric board, which together cost be close to $300. Just a week later, the oven can't switch on at all, but this time, the timer is still on. So it just seems to be the on/off button that's faulty. Does anyone else have similar issues?
