Electrolux EWF1080

Very good – Mine Electrolux washing machine EWF1080 is extremely reliable. I did not have any issues with this washing machine for last 4 years. With big family we use it every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Only one thing the small 6.5kg size washing machine is not enough for big family.

Terrible – I bought my Electrolux in May of 2005 since that time I have had the machine repaired 4 times. The first instance was a case of the rubbers drying out causing the machine to knock during the spin cycle. The next 2 problems have been re-occuring where a sensor has gone causing the machine to shut down mid cycle. The process is then to manually drain all of the water out using an ice cream bucket. The latest instance has been circuit board related where I only have the power light working and the display goes out. I too, paid over $1000 for this machine. I have been extremely unhappy with it. quick wash Noisy on the spin cycle
Terrible – We have bought it in October 2005 hoping we are getting a washing machine of the world famous brand. Indeed it was working all right for some time and in April of 2006 it started proudly flashing and beeping with an E-90 error message. For some reason it liked to do that only in the mornings usually before 11am. After that time it seemed to be not too bad but we could not dare to start using it to avoid ending up with beeping and flashing maching full of water and detergent. It was still on the warranty and I called technicians from DIGGER THIELE ELECTRICAL who were fixing it during 4 - 5 weeks while my wife had to wash by hands in the sink next to world famous half dead Electrolux EWF1080 on the warranty.
I thought that it can't be worse but actually we were happy that it was returned from dead. Warranty had expired in October and washing machine proudly died again exactly the same way with exactly the same error E-90 in November. So I called technicians from DIGGER THIELE ELECTRICAL again. They came and took it to their workshop for testing and repairing....and were fixing it...count November (1), December (2), January (3), February (4), March (5), April (6), May (7) - SEVEN months! Obviously the EWF1080 gives them a real pleasure in it's dead condition when they touch it. To all my enquiries they give only one answer - they have ordered some boards for it and badly waiting for them.
On the good side they have provided us (for free) with a simple, half price of famous Electrolux EWF1080, washing machine which was doing (the way it could) all its work during all these long months.
So the question is, for what I have paid nearly $1000? For the opportunity to practice some hand washing? Or for the continuous test drive/wash of the cheap washing machine?
So I told myself if they eventually will fix it up and it dies again I will immediately throw it away and it will be my full stop with Electrolux forever.
It was fixed in May and died in August...I kept my promise, went to Clive Peeters, bought new Bosch and told guys who delever to take that Electrolux from us and put it somewhere where nobody can find it.
Taking into account everything what I have written above what would be my answer if someone ever ask me about Electrolux? I hope you also would answer it right - "Worst ever quality and service. Never buy anything from them even with 90% discount!" LED display, good washing, ability to adjust lots of settings Really poor quality
Good – I am sad to here that the previous reviewer had problems with this model washing machine. I have not had any troubles at all with mine. Mine has been extremely reliable and I am more than impressed with its performance. I use the washer for myself so the small 6.5kg size works well for me. It is more than enough for one person even if you have large loads.
The wash cycles are very gentle on the clothes and I never had any problems with lint build up. It has a high spin speed for a machine in its price bracket.
The only two improvements that I could suggest for this machine are one:that the detergent dispenser be improved as it doesn't dissolve all of the powder and most of it is left in the dispenser, and two: the spin cycle be quieter as it is very loud and I had to shut the door of the laundry. A machine that washes very well without lint. Very intuitive controls. Very noisy during the dry spin cycle.
