Good looking and good washing but no match to proper brand names – Bought this machine at a Clive Peters close down in Dandenong in 2011.. Price tag was a "whopping 50% off" or 500 bucks - which was just a bit less than common at the time. It was already superseded model but that does not bother me. Good stuff: 1. excellent washing (and I mean literally how well it washes for the water and power it uses) 2.… Read more
controls, menu, options and features on par with proper brand names like Miele, Gaggenau... 3. appearance and ease of use Bad stuff: 1. trivial REALLY bad stuff: 1. Excessive wash and spin noise (and I mean in comparison to infinite speed variation motor types) 2. Noisy when takes water 3. Rattled with spin cycle from day one - they said it was fine 4. Jet motor will become really noisy and may die after few years 5. required a silly level of feet balancing to stop it from taking you laundry to the clothes line by itself.
So many years later - why did I bother making a review now? As much as I love the look and washing result of this machine (better than excellent) refinements is what it does not have, not even in traces. Thus my verdict: Spend a bit more and next time *buy a proper brand*.
As much as even better brands will not outlast the cheap ones like ELX, the user experience will be by far better.
Not pleased – Ive had this machice over two years. Right from the day i brought it i found it to be very noisy during spin. Last night the door wouldnt open after the wash. I heard the door click and the light display showing wash finished and door unlock. I tried everything, draining, cleaning filter and unplugging. Nothing worked. My daughters clothes for work are trapped. Not very happy. Sound when wash finishes Noisy during spin
Never Buy Electrolux Products – I purchased the EWN1499W around two years ago and the handle broke. I didn't actually use it for about 6 months after I bought it, as we were renovating at the time. The unit was a re-furbished unit with a 12 month warranty. I called up the Electrolux customer service regarding the handle and have never experienced such rude and terrible… Read more
customer service before. Firstly, I was told that my complaint was 'aesthetic' and that they would not assist in covering the spare parts (however I don't understand how this was 'aesthetic' as I could not even open the washer door to use the unit!).
Secondly, Electrolux believe that 12 months is a fair warranty period for a re-furb unit. So essentially, the product life expectancy that Electrolux place on their refurb units is 12 months only - outside of that time period, they expect the unit or components of the unit to fail.
Thirdly, my appliance repairman said that Electrolux handles are notorious for braking regularly, and he said for me to expect it to brake again. And that's where Electrolux make their money (don't I know, it just cost me $380 to fix a broken plastic handle!!!!). Their spare parts only come with a 3 month warranty.
For me, the concern wasn't so much having the handle fail. It was really about the way I was treated by their customer service and how shockingly rude they were coupled with the outrageous price for spare parts. And I'm still waiting (5 days later) for their customer service manager to call me back.
Very disappointing.
I will never buy an Electrolux product again, and if my handle fails again, I will invest the $380 in a new machine from a different manufacturer!
I recommend you do the same and skip on the initial investment in Electrolux, otherwise you'll be paying (literally) later down the track.
Expensive spare parts, terrible customer serivce, bad warranty service, very noisy

Bad quality, horrible service – I have this washing machine 3 years now , it is quite loud while spinning, i had a hoover before which was much liser. It always washes longer then it should (no time management at all). The buttons are very cheap, you can feel it when you press them they stuck. The worst thing is that the door broke and i could not open it, even the technician i… Read more

One of my top 5 WORST PURCHASES EVER!!! No wait, possibly top TWO – NOISIEST machine i've ever heard!!! Warranty service is terrible. Electrolux put everything back on the purchaser, whereby you apparently should know the problem before their service tech comes out. Instead of diagnosing the problem first, they scare you into the fact you'll pay for service when they find nothing wrong with it, rather than trying… Read more
to understand the problem.
The machine is on a solid concrete plinth on the bottom floor of our house. We can easily hear it upstairs. I had a top loader in exact same spot, & couldn't hear it if i tried. (explained this to Electrolux, but "I can't answer that, it could be a number of factors..."), I personally think two washing machines in the EXACT same position is a perfect comparison of how the two sound against each other myself.
Now the machine is leaving spotty, grease like, marks occasionally on our whites. Apparently this is "caused by our washing detergent"??? The exact same detergent used each & every time. The same we've used for YEARS & never had a problem before. Also told it "could be the wash cycle we are using"??? Once again, the exact same cycle we use each & every time!!! These unhelpful answers are the norm for their warranty service techs, & are an example of them NEVER taking ownership of a poor product.
I strongly will discourage anyone I know from buying anything Electrolux in the future. Their products match their service. AWFUL.
Bad warranty service, NOISY, vibrates like a cheap motel bed, now leaving spotty stains on whites.

Excellent – We have had this machine for just over 18 months and absolutely love it. At the time we were considering Miele, Asko or Bosch but the sales guy showed us this machine. Glad he did, much cheaper and much more features. This machine apparently was an AEG product which use to sell for a lot more but with Electrolux acquiring AEG they have lowered the… Read more
price and dropped the AEG name. It is made in Europe and has heaps of features. The best thing is it's huge 8kg capacity and the Time Manager which allows you to decrease the wash time by upto half, so a full load can now only take me 45min to 1hr. Great with since we have 3 kids. The light seems like a gimmick but it's acctually great and would miss it if I didn't have it now. I would (and have) recommend this machine to anyone. Glad I didn't buy the expensive Miele. Best machine I've owned or used. Everything!!This is an awesome machine!! Super quiet, huge 8kg capacity, super efficient on water, allows you to open the door mid wash, can adjust water temp and spin speed, spins upto 1400rpm, has light to see inside, incline (tilt) drum to access bottom of drum easier, beeps to alert finished, door hinged on right makes access to drum a lot easier, 14 minute quick wash, dedicated wool wash. I can go on and on about all the features but won't, i think you get the picture. Nothing, absolutely love it!!
