Faulty centre door hinge – In general, this fridge has served us well and continues to serve us well. It's approx 10 years old, but about 1 year ago I noticed the centre door hinge bending downwards, causing the seals to leave a gap on the hinge side. There is definitely a fault with the centre hinge as the bend is in the metal cast of the hinge, not the screws that… Read more

secure the hinge to the frame. The storage in the door top door has *never* been overloaded. I consider this issue a manufacturing fault in the metal hinge, and regardless of it's age should not be occurring. Electrolux have refused supply this part under warranty due to the age.

WORST FRIDGES TO OWN...ELECTROLUX – Had mother board burnt twice....Had Display unit burst twice...All in last 9 years...Have spent 1800$ for 1500$ worth fridge....No support from Electrolux..sorry to say very poor service...Avoid them if you can as Samsung/Sharp would be a smarter choice and cheaper to purchase. Wanted to support australian company but service/cost to maintain is too much

An excellent fridge apart from the door hinges – We have had this fridge since 2005, so almost 10 years. It is still very quiet, looks good and runs well. We had the same door issue as other reviewers--my husband noticed early on that there were cracks around the hinges, found the fatal flaw, and shored up the doors. We haven't had a problem since then and I had forgotten about it. The… Read more

front of the bottom freezer drawer (plastic) has fallen off so many times it has lost its "hooks" and won't stay on properly. A replacement would be expensive, so we'll likely just drill some holes in it and wire it on. Problem solved. That's the only wear-and-tear problem we've had.

The other issue is cooling, but I suspect we might be to blame. We recently moved and I tested the temperature. To get 4C at the back of the fridge I had to set it on the coldest setting, and the higher shelves and front of fridge are more like 7C. So not really cold enough. However, for the first 9.5 years the fridge was in a very tight spot--2mm clearance each side and 100mm at the back--so the compressor must have been working pretty hard on hot days.

I like the layout and spaciousness. Like most fridges, to fully remove the hinge-side crisper, you need to open the door 180 degrees. The crisper can be opened to the "latch-point", about 70% open, with the door open 90 degrees, and that's usually enough. But this is not a model to install with the hinge side next to a wall.

We would keep this fridge but are about to go off-grid and need the most energy-efficient fridge we can find. This one was energy efficient for its time, but they have improved a lot since then. According to Choice, (Sept 2014) Electrolux is the most efficient for the size we want. And if that door problem is fixed, I would buy this brand again.

Pathetic design that Electrolux should take responsibility for ! – Have had this upside-down refrigerator for a few years, and although it's had its annoying faults (not fully square, plastic bits break off easily) I was never expecting both the doors just to FALL OFF ! In turns out the hinge is is drastically weakened by an intentional recess into the back off it to make way for a screw head underneath,… Read more

leaving the entire load of the upper door carried by a small amount of brittle material that just snapped through. The lower door was on the same hinge so the whole lot went at once. The brittle material is really dangerous as if there'd been any small children in the way it would have injured them greatly, or worse.

It is clearly a very poor design and the fact that it is no longer found in newer Electrolux refrigerators, speaks volumes - they know about the problem but won't admit it! Refrigerator sales persons weren't surprised to hear about it.

I contacted Electrolux but was told I could pay for a service call plus parts to fix it ! Both doors were ruined so that would run to several hundred dollars - I don't think so ! That someone didn't get injured when the doors came crashing down. Bad design causes doors to fall off!

Big for a big family – We are a family of 6 and have found our fridge to be great. Unlike the previous reviewer, we haven't had any troubles with cold or freezing - in fact the opposite with things right at the back tending to freeze if we had the cold setting up too high. Like the other review, there are issues with trying to get into the crisper drawers,… Read more

particularly the one closest to the door.

Over all, good with a few issues which hold the fridge back from excellent. Buy on price I guess as it is good value for money. Value for money Crisper drawer needs to have the door too wide to keep the cold in.

Bad – I am really disappointed with my fridge. It has never got cold enough. If it worked properly it could of been great. After 3 months it stopped completely. They came and took it away it was the motor! It will take over a week to fix and Electrolux has been less than helpful with supplying me something to use while it is away. I will never buy… Read more

electrolux again.

On it's good points it fits lots in and I can still find things. The internal design and layout works. But that is about it. I wish I had gone for my first choice of a F&P french door style. internal design is good. Finish is good The door has to be opened 180 degrees to open the vege bins

doesn't get cold enough. Freezer takes ages to freeze anything. Condensation on freezer door constantly
