TMDZ 95 – Over the last 2 years nothing but trouble used for camping constantly cuts out when air temp hits 20c we had issues with power usage so installed 2 100amp hr lithium batteries
Poor Quality Product with Dreadful "Customer Service" – Bought a brand new camper trailer which came with the Evakool Travelmate 96L back in June 2021. Fridge was sold to me $1,399 through the camper manufacturing company and got to finally use it last Christmas over a period of 7 days. I went to clean the fridge after its use and noticed that the silicone at the bottom of the fridge (in both… Read more
compartment) was failing and causing a leak to the internal part of the fridge. Contact Evakool Customer Service and was told to go get some silicone from the hardware store and fix it myself as it was pretty easy to fix. Told them again that this fridge was less than 12 months old and that it should be covered by the warranty and got the same response as well as being told that the fridge was 18 months old - which is INCORRECT and that they were not privy of what was stored in the fridge and that I should have contacted them earlier - STORING FOOD and BEFORE ITS FIRST USE???... STAY AWAY from this brand and its products, poor design and manufacturing coupled with dreadful customer service!
Extremely heavy power draw, – Bought the EvaKool GFM70-FF based on reviews back in 2016. I wish i never had. Very heavy power draw, shape distorts when cold. On 3 different new batteries (fully charged), fridge pre-cooled to 0Deg C on 240V and then set to 5deg C and battery only lasts maximum 18hrs with 110Amph battery with day time temps not getting above 22dec and night… Read more
time down to 11DegC. Fridge continually cuts out when temperatures are in the high 20's and has done this since brand new. The fridge is only good when working on 240V. Other than that choose another fridge. Bushmans, even the cheaper Dometic have half the power draw.... based on experience and testing when camping with mates fridges.
Fridge over drawing power – why does our fridge draw so much power. its on fridge only at zero temp.Fully charge battery and turn on fridge and it draws battery so quickly and nothing else us on.

Food going mouldy and Runs forever – This 146L fridge has never worked properly and I always get the brush off, wiring not big enough, to far away from battery, now EVERYTIME I open my fridge it smells of mould and yes! Mould growing on and in the drip tray even inside the butter container. $1,600 fridge would sure expect more. Show details

fridge .. No response what so ever .. The fridge is used on a live aboard boat as a Freezer .. I have no Freezer ... I'm at the stage I will have to purchase a new Fridge / Freezer .... I class this company as being totally Arrogant to Warranty issues .. I have now started the Process of putting in a claim with the ACCC Commission... I have read other Reviews and comments with other People having Issues as well Avoid Evakool.. If You are looking for a product .. With good Warranty backup
Icemate 88 litre – If I could do minus stars I would! absolutely appalling excuse with feedback & response to our faulty evakool! Guarantee is non exsisted with this company & comsumer rights is also nil. Through many emails with tracey we now have been asked to purchase our own box & wrap the icemate for us to get a return of our money. This is a 88 litre box!!! … Read more
We wanted a replacement from day one of speaking with her through email but with a product no longer being made, guessing to the amount of faults we have read! This now elimated our 5 year warranty!! Unless we wanted to purchase another product a alot greater cost on top, which we weren't in a position or felt we should have to when it was faulty from day one. We got this on sale why is the replaced not offered at the original price is beyond me?? We specify stated we wanted a replacement, not refund as we went to the camping show just to buy this beauty. Never sealed correctly and melted ice within 24 hours with a sale rep raving it would last for 10 DAYS!!!! Out of pocket & now lacking patience we have been given no apologise for inconvince or service!!!! Will never buy there products ever we recommend you don't either!!!!

Evakool or Engal ?? – Well I currently own 4 Engal units and have had no problems since my first one was purchased in 2001, the next in 2002 then 2009 and last one (plastic case unit) in 2012, My son has confiscated one and my twin girls share another on trips away, The remaining two, well one has been running 24/7 in my work van since early 2001 and the second since… Read more
2003 in three different cruisers and now a prado. I have been reading the reviews here and now I know why the Engal is more expensive based on what you guys have said. It seems that I am better off spending the extra cash and get another Engal for my second work vehicle. Its sad when you don't get the warranty or back up service that you deserve and down right UN AUSTRALIAN, forams like this help put these companies on notice and hopefully help others make the right decision before they get ripped off, Regards Steve,

It does the job – I have used the fridge 4 years now. I can't fault it. It does the job that I purchased it for. I use it on solar 12v 240v without a problem. Show details
You can't use the word "warranty" and "Evacool" in the same sentence – Second Evacool. Second time I've been ignored when warranty raised its head. Cannot recommend them at all, sadly. Management has let the company down . Have to write fifty words, first rf60, power supply failed inside 2 weeks No warranty support, so had to dismantle it, and repair it myself Second - tmx45- no warranty support -power supply… Read more
failed- had to dismantle and repair it myself. Then - locating pin for lid broke off. No warranty support. Will have to repair it myself. I can understand that they CBF doing warranty work. Being ignored has prompted my complaint.

Temperature touch pad is on permanent holiday – We are very diappointed that the fridge freezer, only used in total about 3 weeks, is now on permanent -18 degree freezing mode, and we cannot change. We thought it would be covered by Warrenty, but that is only 2 years, not the 5 we thought (this is for iceboxes). It will cost us about $400 to fix up, and how long will that last? When it worked it was good, and we took care of it, but for such an expensive item to have such a short life? Show details

EvaKool RF60 Fridge/Freezer – I've had this unit for nearly 5 years, it has been very reliable and suits my purpose. You can't contol the fridge seperate from the freezer as the only contol is a plastic partition. My only issue has been the gel coat on the lid has deteriorated and there are small holes where the gel coat has collapsed (I think this may be impact damage, but it… Read more
should have been a bit more resiliant) The 240>12v transformer and connectors are pretty poor quality and I'm on my third transformer. The unit is permenantly mounted on a fridge slide in the rear of my Toyota 100 Series LC

Ok but not the best – First one I bought didn't work properly only works when level if not level wouldn't work just couldn't chill so EvaKool replaced it.evakool are very easy to deal with. second one works when tilted and level, i have it set on -1 but it warms up to +5 before chilling down. Not the best 12volt refrigerator but as they say you get what you pay for. Show details
Great Fridge crap connections – We have just travelled up through the centre of Australia and done Cape York and had the same problem the cigarette plug keep vibrating out of the socket so we used rubber band to hold them together as well. However since returning home I have removed the cigarette plugs and replaced with Anderson plugs no further problems Show details
Good Fridge Freezer. Dangerous Transformer – I have had trouble with the 240v to 12v transformer connection coming loose as well. The transformer failed when I had it running in the house. I then noticed it had melted the cigar tipped plug at some stage. I have made Evakool aware of this. I will have a hard wired transformer set up made at my own cost to be on the safe side.
Great product – I have a 90litre fridge freezer for at least 10 years apart from only I small problem which needed factory attention I have had no problems one complaint paper markings which indicate settings is now not readable should be better display board with quality materials not paper otherwise very happy now own two Eva kools. Chris 4 stars
Amazing Unit!! – I'm a semi retired mechanic/technician, worked on motorhomes and boats, and recently sailed for 3 years on our Aussie coast with our Evakool as a extra freezer. Never a problem! Had it wired directly to our battery bank, sat in our catamaran cockpit continually through thick and thin weather, faultless operation and freezing anything you wanted at… Read more
any time. Kept ice cream frozen, fish, meat, chicken etc, even made ice cubes for our drinks! We've sold our boat and are back on land, KEPT OUR EVAKOOL!! Still use it for camping, extra drinks fridge at home, or freezer when extra family visits, especially now for Christmas. My eldest son has had the same, but earlier model, in his camper for the last 4 years, it was there when he bought it! Goes everywhere with it, looks rough, but always performs. Has low power consumption and runs quietly enough with heavy duty sponge insulation under it to sleep in the van, same as in our boat cockpit. Connect to a solar panel to keep batteries charged and you have a great system. Looking at other brands and their specifications and lack of proper insulation shows the Evakool to be well ahead. It easily out performed our fridge/freezer supplied in our catamaran. I should have got a custom one made up to replace that sad unit! Wouldn't bother with any other brand, except Evakool!!
Great Fridge Terrible Service – Fridge worked great for a year. When it stopped chilling, I gave them a call and spoke to someone in Tech Support. After 2 different conversations, trying 2 different things, it still didn't cool. Now after taking it to a service tech I am told my warranty is void as I reset the controller - the repair comes out of my pocket!!! EVAKOOL - DO NOT… Read more

EVAKOOL coached and helped me troubleshoot a fault only to tell me the warranty is void AFTERWARDS!!!
Very happy – We have had an RF60 in our motor home for a bit over 10 years as our main fridge/freezer and its performance has been faultless. It's always been run on 12v with solar and has never missed a beat in all the extreme variations Aussie weather can dish out. Can't recommend this terrific Aussie product highly enough - well done Evakool!
Excellent fridge/freezer – I have had mine for about five years now,no complaints about the unit at all, however the 12v plug definately needs to be of better quality, it dosent take much vibration at all to disconnect the power, and if you dont keep an eye on it, the unit can be off for quite a while. I use two stout rubber bands to hold the 12v plug to the transformer, a bit amateurish, dont you think evaKool
BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – I have the latest model 12 volt 70 Litre Fridge Freezer. It was sold to me with a faulty 12 volt lead used to run from your car aux outlet ... best fridge ever – My 50Ltr EvaKool ran like a charm for 4 months at - 12 Deg for 4 months non stop around Australia as well as keeping 8 cans of beer ice cold at all times in the dairy section , my mate had to put his beer in my fridge on a warm for cold swap because he bought a 40 Ltr engul that his wife used as a freezer . FORGET ABOUT WAECO AND ENGEL, BUY THIS, EASILY A FAR SUPERIOR PRODUCT – After 6 months of research and planning for a 3 month trip around West Oz caravanning holiday, with the Mrs and 2 kids, I decided to go with the 85lt fridge freezer. Firstly I have a 60lt Evakool fibreglass icebox (which I still refer to as an "Esky" due to old habits), and I use this as my main storage on my fishing boat. I can have 6 snapper… Read more
in the box and throw in a bag of ice and it keeps everything cold for at least 3 days if required!! This made the next purchase decision a little easier for me as I had already learnt that the 50mm thick foam/fibreglass insulates brilliantly. I also went for the 85lt powered version as it is a perfect fit in the back of my Prado and is the smallest model with the bigger compressor, therefore working more efficiently in my opinion. We have just returned from almost 18,000km around Oz and the Evakool never missed a beat, it performed brilliantly, and as a whole freezer the entire time. All our cryovaced items stayed rock hard and even when the kids had "accidentally" unplugged the fridge to put in a DVD player, it had been unpowered for 2 days sitting in the car in Broome heat and the temperature went from -19c up to -7c. Can almost guarantee that the 2 other popular makes would have just about cooked everything inside them in this situation as their actual insulation is so poor.
I went to a refrigeration repair business and observed dozens and dozens of Waeco and Engel fridges that had failed in many ways. Not one Evakool to be seen here, and after discussion with the repair man he showed me the rubbish insulation in the walls of a Waeco, I couldn't believe how thin it was.
The Evakool is also very easy to clean and doesn't absorb any vile odours, even when I had some nice squid (calamari) decide to leak through a plastic bag.
I can't imagine buying anything else for my requirements and I'm very pleased with this Aussie product.
My only negative is that I am going to replace the 12v cig plug with a better quality one. Better price per litre of storage, best insulation, genuine Danfoss compressor, holds -20c easily. Could do with a soft insert under the storage cages for support if needed and a better 12v plug.
Excellent Australian product, cant believe we went so long without one! – Works in the hottest of days on 12 volt battery for 3/4 days continuous use without requiring charge. Perfect dual temperature - one side fridge the other freezer, or remove the divider for a complete fridge or freezer. Ligth weight and automatic vaccum lid (so you dont need to worry about latching the lid shut each time you open it). No… Read more
exterior condensation like other portable fridges which means easy no hassle maintenance. Fiberglass materials ensures no food smells stain the fridge.
Excellent value with superior 5 year warranty, Austrailan made and manufactured. Lightweight fiberglass, easy maintenance, Australian made, 12/240 volt fridge/freezer, 5 years warranty.
Brilliant, better than other Fridge/Freezers – I have had the 3 main portable fridge/freezer makes now, 2 of the better known brands struggled to keep food frozen in high temperatures ie 35c+. One brand our frozens thawed when temp was 40c. We have now had our Evacool 60l for 18mths and when we had 6 days over 35, not only did the fridge/freezer keep everything cold/frozen, it actually froze… Read more
