Trustworthy & reliable – Have had our dryer for over 20 years with multiple uses a week & are only just now having some minor issues with it. Has been an awesome little machine over the years. Show details

Engineering mess – Got one of these soon after the old Simpson dryer died after god knows how many years chewing away electricity and faithfully drying cloths when asked. This monstrosity is an absolute POS inside... I had to pull it apart due to the drum becoming stuck and the motor whirring away to no avail - a smoking smell coming from inside the appliance made… Read more

me pull the whole back and top off the unit to investigate the inner workings of this machine.

Absolutely filled with lint and it was starting to arc across the 240V innards which aren't well electrically isolated from shorting against each other - so if anything like a barking gecko was to get in there you could have yourself a fair spot of bother and a fire with the amount of lint in there!

Also the drive system is a huge joke, the motor drives a micro V belt which straddles the whole drum - around it loosely and relies on simple friction to run the drum - just around the drum "willy nilly" no defined belt rim or actual seating for the belt to run around - just loosely not even a limit guide...

The dust and lint accumulation inside was horrific and the belt was just spinning around the drum as it was too slippery from it all. So a lot of vacuuming and cleaning inside was done for the belt to grip again - but by god its a crap design!

The main bearing was also dry and gritty, lubricant was definitely needed...

The drum face also straddles a couple hard bushings around the opening perimeter (drum opening / door) - the dust accumulation here was also a point of friction and saw the drum being caught up around there... The whole front of the drum had to be cleaned and graphite powder added to the drums facing lining saw this area move a lot more freely than before.

All in all it works albeit very very very simply... Its a absolute mess of a design and I honestly wish I had the persistent gusto I had with this dryer to fix the old one as it was a much better built and designed machine even if it was much older and badly dented etc...

Gauging from this design Fisher & Paykel couldn't really care for the design longevity as long as it made it out of factory and ran out of warranty.... It's an eye opener for me to never ever buy appliance(s) from them based on this machine alone!

Simple maybe too simple – Works ok. Only has two settings, one for for natural fibres and one for synthetics. Machine runs quite hot on both settings and takes quite a while to dry clothes. Really notice there are no wrinkle free options but it was really cheap so shouldn't complain. The filter is easy to clean but the dryer makes a mess even though the filter is religiously cleaned after each load.  Show details

A good little workhorse – I bought this dryer over 12 years ago and it still works although it is nearing the end of its life. I can longer put wet clothes in it, I need to dry them on the line a bit first. It has moved house several times, one move from mainland Australia to Tassie and it never bothered it. Here it is used every day in winter and has never let me down. It… Read more

does blow a bit of lint around, but as I keep my dryer in an out-building that never really concerned me. Looking at replacing it with another Fisher and Paykel, although I am skeptical. My F&P chest freezer brilliant also, but my F&P fridge was a nightmare. Would highly recommend this dryer

long time dryer – Mine just died after 10 years of faithful service. About to go get a new F&P as I've loved it. I never had trouble getting the lint out. For an inexpensive dryer it certainly earned it's stars! small dryer, light weight. My drying get's done - what more do I need? great for a cheap dryer makes room damp

Pretty good product – I have had this make and model of dryer for at least 6 years and the only problems I have had is that the room gets all moist so I have to keep the door to the room open and it takes so long for the clothes to get dry. Haven't had any physical problems with it in over 6 years I've owned it. Takes so long to dry the clothes and it makes the room that it is in moist so I have to keep the door to the room open.

Below average – It does the job, but: after a cycle there is always lint everywhere around the machine, it gets moist everywhere around while working so I have to run it with the extractor fan on, the door clip broke within 20 times of use so I have to put something to block the door from opening and after a couple years it started making this terrible noise for… Read more

the first 2 minutes of drying. Price, easy to use Noisy, moist, the lint makes it messy, easy to brake, expensive to run

Good – Overall its a good dryer but the lint tends to come out of the filter and blow all over the room. Nice and cheap unit but if I had to get another I would go fully ducted. does a great job at drying clothes. could have a slightly better filter

Good – I have no problems with this dryer. It was inexpensive which is always good. Even after falling off the wall (cause the bracket came out of the wall!) it has run like a charm. So apart from being a little tricky to mount on the wall bracket it is fine. It is important to clean the filter after each cycle as it does get pretty full especially… Read more

when doing things like towels. You do have to let it run through its entire cycle, especially the cooling down period so that you don't burn yourself when getting your clothes out. Does its job. Not easy to mount on wall bracket.

Bad – Purchased the dryer only 4 months ago and have only used it 4 times when the door fell off at the hinge. On closer inspection only a small amount of plastic holds the door to the hinge, not very well built. The dryer however was easy to mount and is easy to use with only a turn of a dial. However with only a 1 and half star engery rating, I… Read more

will spend a little more money next time to save money in the long run. Cheap and easy to mount on wall. Door Hinge broke off after just 4 loads. Build quaility.

Good – A good enough dryer. Ideal to use duting the winter months but you must open a window or a door while using it since it becomes dampy innside the house and moisture settles on the walls or ceilings thus producing mouldy atmosphere. Lint can also get out of the lint guard so it is advisable to always make sure to check and clean the lint guard at… Read more

all times. Still a good value for money though since it does the job. When there is enough sunlight to dry the clothes its better to hang the clothes outside for drying to save energy. Cheaper alternative, Trusted brand Lint all over the place
