Fisher & Paykel 60cm Ceramic Electric Cooktop CE604LBX1

Glass door shattered – My apartment has a Fisher & Paykel electric cooktop oven CE604L model. This afternoon when I returned from shopping I was shocked to find hundreds or thousands of tiny glass pieces all over the kitchen floor, some pieces about two meters from the oven. Fortunately there was no one in the apartment and we are two older people shopping when this happened. Obviously the glass door must have exploded/shattered with some force as some glass pieces were found on microwave oven half meter above the floor level. Although we use cook top regularly we never ever used the oven for baking or grilling, we hardly open this glass door. The oven and cooktop controls were completely in off position and the room temperature must have been below 30 degree C when this incident happened. This was shocking and scary but fortunately no one was home and no one was hurt. I searched the internet and I can see some others also reported glass door shattering of Fisher & Paykel electric cooktop oven. Is this covered by warranty? I am a tenant in the house, so I will inform the owner about the incident. But I can't understand why a glass door would explode just like that when not in use. It would have seriously hurt kids and others if people were in kitchen or around. I am also surprised Fisher & Paykel doesn't use shatter proof glass for the front glass door for greater safety, as the glass door in my oven broke into virtually hundreds or probably thousands of tiny pieces. I'm lucky this time but some one else may not be as lucky as me next time. I have other Fisher & Paykel appliances like Dishwasher and Washing machine and I don't have problems with them, it's the electric cooktop and it's the first time this problem happened.
