Fisher & Paykel 60cm 4 Zone Gas

Bad – slim line top surface looks goood but does not stop spillages from flowing all over the place. The smooth subtle curved surfaces do not provide a hinderence to moving liquids and usually finds its way into the electronic section(under the temp control nobs. The gas cut out probe is in the middle and therefore does not have a chance to detect a flame. This means that you have to turn on the burners a fair few times before it actually stays alight or leave the pan off the burner for several minutes before using it. We now manually light it as the ignition system has been shorted. it may hold 1.5litres but when is a spill still?
Very disappointed by other F&P products also and service and now will not recommend F&P to anyone. looked good. low profile. any spillages go straight into the electronics and short them
Bad – Further testing to eradicate irregular flame balance problems and a simplification of the electronics so that maintenance is easier. Take care if you have a stone bench top and decide to up size. Check the under bench mount size carefully. Functionality rates low due to design flaws. Buy something else or check to see if the problem has been dealt with in new models that are released. An aesthetically pleasing design when first installed. The gas jet shut off when they detect slightly irregular size pots and tend to create hot spots
Good – Overall a pretty good cooktop for the money. We have this unit connet to natural gas and it heats quicky and evenly. No problems with lighting or flame control. Looks good and easy to maintain. The smooth lines make it super easy to clean. None as yet.
Terrible – I don't think Fisher and Paykel ever tested this item before releasing it for sale. I have owned mine for just over two years and since purchasing it I have had no end of trouble. There is no local service agent anywhere nearby and the customer support from P&K is non existent. The internal workings are not easily understood by a gas fitter so it is really flying by wire when it comes to servicing. Virtually impossible to keep the wok burner alight when using a large heavy based saucepan. Flame adjustment on the wok burner is not real flask...you end up with black burn marks on the base and sides of stainless steel utensils. Hot spots develop on all small burners even when on the low settings. Guess what!...I am off to purchase a new cooktop and will consign this one to the scrap heap...Sorry Mr F&P, I could not honestly recommend this product to any one.Once bitten, twice shy!! Looked neat when it was new! 'tis a pain to light and to keep alight.
