Great washing machine, great support – We've had this washing machine for about 9 years and it had been going strong and working perfectly up until a few months ago. One day, at the end of the wash, it wouldn't open, there was clearly a problem with the door release. I opened the machine up to see if there were any loose connections and to manually release the door. I then called… Read more

F&P support; I told them the person on the phone what the problem was and described what I could see, she then double checked with technical support before allowing me to order the spare part then and there. It was delivered in 2 days, I installed it and our washing machine has been working perfectly since. This is the kind of product support that will make me go back and purchase again. In a throw away society it is great that F&P were willing to provide spares to allow me to extend the life of this great washing machine - well done F&P!

Perfect – Been using this machine twice a week from 6 years, never have any problem. still as good as new. Don't understand why other people have negative experience with this machine. Im aware that the load is only 6kg, which my laundry is around that much per load. overall happy with the quality, still Nz owned company at that time. now the company owned by Haier  Show details

Rubber Seal – The rubber seal of my front loader washing machine Fisher and Paykel WH80F60W1 gets mouldy after use. I have made many attempts in removing the mould but have not succeeded. i even wipe dry the rubber seal after every use. My clothes get stained with the mould which cannot be removed. Poor Controls - Poor Remedy – We bought a spindle-free F&P machine which was terrible from the start. F&P were really great - they replaced it without a problem, even delivered and installed. This new replacement front loader machine worked well for about 2 years. It then became tricky to select a cycle, we'd turn the dial and it would jump to another selection. We called for… Read more

the F&P repair agent (who came very promptly) and advised we 'spin the dial a few times with the machine off'. A very temporary fix, because as the repair guy stated, this was a poor model that had been discontinued, so they couldn't replace like-with-like.

Two years later, the machine still refuses to comply with orders, and sometimes even when we do manage to select the required cycle, it jumps to another part way through. It is also a bit hit and miss as to whether it will spin effectively.

I expect a machine to give good service for a reasonable time...this hasn't.

Next machine will be far more thoroughly investigated using sites like Product Review.

Don't touch the brand – the warranty is 2 years, we got it extended to 5 years, six months later it has a brain fade. We had already replaced the mother board 12 months prior. It will cost about $400 to fix. It is going to the tip, as the repairman said, the main bearing could go next. Will not be going near fisher and paykel again. We had a fridge and a freezer of theirs that lasted no time. No more chances for this company.  Show details

Great little machine - bought 2nd hand and lasted another 10+ years – I bought this machine 2nd hand 11 years ago. Needed a couple of minor services. Still running strong. Standard 40 degree wash, lots of cotton, 1-2 times a week. Great! Show details

Not user friendly – Too many settings with long washes(1-3hrs) and only one quick wash of 30 mins I had it in quick wash since I bought it 5 years ago,it would sometimes leave my clothes feeling really hot which is strange as i always had it only cold water (quick cycle doesn't tell you which temp it uses). Now that I want to use hot water it doesnt work! I had to attach the hose to the hot water tap as I have no other option. Show details

Are front loaders and issue. My 4 year old machine stopped working – My 4 year old machine stopped working. Yes it should have lasted 10 years. Then the more I read the more it seems that Front Loaders can be more problematic. I contacted Fisher and Paykel and they were..........great. They listened, understood and resolved my issues. I am very happy with the outcome. I have now purchased a Top Loader Fisher and Paykel

Do NOT waste your money - buy another model/brand – Find UK reviews on front loaders if you are wanting to purchase a front loader. We purchased this machine in 2011 and with an extended guarantee, it has not really been that fab from the word go as I was really pleased to get a machine with a short quick cycle as sometimes when children used to come home from school and had got their uniform dirty… Read more

and needed it cleaning for the next day then I could use this quick 30 minute cycle... yippeee, unfortunately not!! As it used to always stop or not spin all the water out... After many times I rang F & P help line and spoke to one of their engineers who said that to use the quick cycle I would need to put in more clothing than just one item as it would not be enough weight in the machine to wash and spin with it being electronic/digital, etc. I said but I bought it as I could wash using the quick cycle for one or two items of clothing, etc.. Like many parents for school clothing to even if you are off out and just want to wash one item, etc. They said I should have done more research before I bought the machine!!! F & P said that most Kiwi's were energy minded and do not only ever want to wash one item of clothing!!! Ummm obviously F & P technicians who design do not know family living of washing uniforms, sports clothing, etc..

My next problem is that the dial that does the settings started to go faulty and if I was trying to get the drain and spin cycle for 15 minutes I had to try and be a safe cracker and very slowly mm by mm turn the dial until on 15 minutes and the quickly press the start button... Frustrating...

My problem after that and which is still on with being repaired is that when a program gets down to 1 minute on a cycle especially the 30 minute it stays on the 1 minute for sometimes more that 30 minutes later.

Another problem is that it will not drain the water...

I would recommend, if you value your money NOT to purchase this machine or if you decide to do so then to purchase the extended warranty.

There was a Smeg washer in the house which we purchase but it was a top loader and coming from the UK where top loaders were not really available to purchase I stuck it in the garage but I have thank goodness brought it out and replaced when this front loader has been in for repair. The Smeg has never failed-I do like it-Great that when you find a stay sock, etc. you can just open the lid and add it in... Fab-I do think that top loaders are harder on your clothing. Clothing does get more tangled in a top loader but when all is said and done I just prefer a machine that lasts, does not keep breaking down and you can add clothing for this I would recommend a Smeg Top Loader...

Hope this helps you decide in what to spend your money on-I would not buy another.

8 kg front loader disappoints – Initially washed well - noise level satisfactory - at around 4 years usage began having problems with option selector dial. The most annoying problem is the dirt residue which regularly gets onto… Read more

clothes etc during washing. Often spin cycle does not work properly leaving washing wet and heavy. The rubber seal between the door and drum accumulates wash residue, and it needs to be regularly wiped out of grooves etc, even to the point of pulling seal away from drum to get the grime off. Nothing in the manual mentioned this. The final straw came yesterday when two tops and a sheet had numerous dirty streaks all over them necessitating re wash. Another negative is the patch of rust appearing on the base of the front panel. I've had it with this machine. I'm going back to a top loader agitator washer which may use more water, but at least the filter will be easy to clean, and no more residue on clothes.

Less than 3 years old, 2 major parts replaced under warranty & now motor blows just out of warranty – Worst machine ever. Had to purchase a front load machine due to the layout of our new home so went with the Fisher & Paykel WH70F60WV1 (7kg). poor & majority of the time they need re-spinning.

Very loud spin.

6 months old it stopped working. Took a week for a Fisher & Paykel service rep to check it. Tried to blame me but ended up being a faulty pump. Had to wait another week for the part to be ordered then replaced.

18 months old it stopped working again. 10 days for a Fisher & Paykel service rep to check it. Again another issue with the pump.

32 months old it's stopped working again. Took a week for a Fisher & Paykel service rep to check it. Motor has gone. Now no longer under warranty I have been quoted $475 + gst for part & $135 for call out to replace it.

I'm absolutely furious. We're doing it really tough as it is but also with 2 kids, a newborn & now either having to fork out more than the machine was new to replace 1 part when it's not even 3 years old. WORST MACHINE / COMPANY / SERVICE TO DEAL WITH. NEVER AGAIN Fisher & Paykel.

October 4th 2016 Update: 4 years old, 6 major repairs required. Used to love Fisher & Paykel, now never again.

Not quite 4 years old and already 6 major repairs required. 2 new motors, new belt, new drum, faulty parts. Always 2-3 week turn around with service too so an extremely frustrating machine and company to deal with.

I used to love Fisher & Paykel products, they lasted years but I'll never touch them ever again. Faulty washer, dryer & dishwasher all the same age. Previous ones we had more than 10 years no issues ever.

So surprised they had been rated so highly by reputable testers. Don't waste your money on them.

Excellent Performance – I have tried most cycles on this machine and have been extremely happy with the results on all. I tend to use the 30 minute cycle which always has good results - Clothes clean, not tangled and quick, quick quick. I think the noise level is about the same noise as my previous machine (Miele) - anyhow not too loud as I can't hear it when I close the laundry door. I can't understand why others have had problems.

Worst company ever – We bought a washing machine 4 years ago. Couple months after it stopped working so we replaced it under warranty. The new one has so many problems and we keep fixing it so often. I don't recommend anyone on buying this brand nor dealing with this company cause they never solve a thing.

No problems – This machine has served a family of 5 for around 7 years with no breakdowns, broken plastic, rust or any problems. I'm happy with its large 8kg capacity and mostly happy with its washing. Only issues for me have been that it doesn't always wash all the washing powder from the dispenser and on occasions we get lint on things. I'd rate it as an average machine, not as bad as many others reviewers.

Rust rust rust – This machine broke down shortly after the warranty ran out. A few weeks later the front panel and the base frame started to rust so we approached FP directly. They refused to do anything about it. It has now broken down completely after about 7 years and the rust has extended to cover a large part of the machine. Never again FP.

machine to clean it. Not only that, despite "de-gunking" on a regular basis whites often come out dirtier then they went in. To add insult to injury, front loaders are supposed to be "gentle" on your clothes - Bah!!! This thing eats clothes for breakfast. I reckon we could have bought a new machine with the cost of the clothes this thing has destroyed. Unfortunately, like my F&P fridge (yet another Fisher and Paykel piece of crap. I'll leave that review for another day) this was bought as an urgent purchase because our old top loader blew up after 10 years of exceptional service (and clean not destroyed clothes).

Between this washing machine and our fridge I wouldn't buy Fisher and Paykel ANYTHING ever again, even if someone paid me. Do yourself a favour and buy something else (and don't believe the Choice Magazine reviews either - I don't know how they test these machines but there is no way these clean clothes).

Check out older F&P machine reviews to get an idea of reliability – We have had a disappointing experience with a WH80F60WV1 machine, as below. clothing, clothes sufficiently dry. Good short cycle (60 mins) that washed well enough. Neat 3 sec delay prior to cycle starting in case you wanted to add something or change cycle.

However, after five years' use it has died. I note that the average Australian washing machine is surveyed to last 8.5 years.

Minor faults to start with like cracked plastic buttons. At about 4 years old the door had to be replaced (plastic, yes plastic, door hinges broke). Then in the fifth year the quality of the wash deteriorated...not spinning properly and very wet washes, then just water fill, nothing, then water drain...no drum rotation. Called service man who came three times with different parts. Then he stated it was unfixable, and that we have to get a new machine.

In seeking to fix this machine we note that the service from F&P was quite prompt and helpful, though we had to wait 2 weeks for a part to arrive.

Check this review...a few others have problems with the quality of F&P products.

Three Years And Going Strong – Had this washer for 3 years now. With 2 kids in the house it sees plenty of use. It's still going strong and doing well. we did think it was broken at one point but found a bra underwire had come out and lodged in the filter stopping the spin cycle. Seems to be a decent washing machine.

Dissapointing – We had the motherboard replaced in the first year under warranty as the wash cycles were not what they should have been. Most recently we noticed that the door seal had black smelly mould growing on entire surface. After trying to explain to F&P that this is only due to poor product design they shipped a free replacement seal but I will need to pay $120 for the service guy to fit it!! Overall, the wash quality has been ok.

Don't buy one – We've had problems with the dial since we bought it new. We're not bothering to get it fixed, we'll just trade it in and get a machine that works - AND IT WON'T BE F&P. Gave up spinning clothes then died completely – Similar to other reviews, this machine stopped spinning clothes and had to be put on an extra spin cycle. Eventually it started leaking randomly. within warranty. The repairer simply took off the dial and cleaned the plate behind it, and suddenly the machine worked as new again. I was a little embarrassed. We still have to do this from time to time, but it's not a big deal at all.

As for washing clothes, it does the job very well. My whites are still white, and my delicate clothes are still intact. Nothing more or less than I'd expect from a good washing machine. It doesn't make things magically shine, but it takes out all smells and stains that it should.

Cleaning can be a pain, especially with the detergent drawer. It gets very moudly in there, and I can never seem to get rid of it all. The drum itself is always spotless and smell free though.

I'm neither here nor there on noise as I've not had enough experience with other front loaders to compare.

Capacity is our only issue, and that's lack of foresight from us. We're looking at upgrading to a bigger 8kg machine soon, but we'll be sticking with F&P. Cleans well, reliable Detergent drawer gets mouldy and is difficult to clean
