Happy but not 100% happy – A spade is a spade so I will tell it how it is. We love our trailer but it has not all been smooth sailing. From date of putting the deposit down, January, to pick up, May, it was an epic saga to say the least. We are one of those couples who do our best in due diligence when checking out products and companies before parting with our hard earned… Read more

money. The only thing that persuaded us to buy this trailer over one other, that was in the running for purchase, is the draw bar that goes from front to rear. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but it is as far as structural integrity goes, it is a big deal.

The Dominator suits our needs perfectly. So we survived the debacle that was waiting for the trailer to be ready, it took more than 12 weeks, despite them telling us it would only be 5-6 weeks. I had to do all the calling as they never and I mean never instigate contact. They kept asking for the balance of payment and I told them that much like a house being built they would get a progress payment based on where they are in the build process. Being as they were behind schedule we were not paying the full balance. I think this is extremely fair due to their lack of customer service and not being honest about the delivery schedule. The only time they called me was to tell me that the trailer was ready to be picked up and they required balance of payment before we picked it up. We saved more than $600 by picking the trailer up ourselves. So when the trailer was finally ready we drove to Sydney to pick up the trailer, 12 hours give or take a bit due to comfort stops. We arrive just in time to get the paper work and rush in to the NSW version of Main roads and get a permit to take the trailer back to QLD with us. I will give them a little credit as two of the blokes stayed back after close so we could take the trailer.

We have used the camper a lot since owning it, as that was the purpose of buying it. For the most part the trailer is everything we need and a good package. These are the issues though: The piezo was not connected and the water pump has always tripped and the tap at the sink leaks. We have contacted them and I put in the warranty claim for the pump issue. I was told that they don't connect the piezo, ever. I asked why not? I was told that most people just get one of those clicky lighter thingys. So that did not answer as to why they don't connect the piezo, it's the most simple 12-24 volt connection in the whole trailer. I have had to repaint the boat rack as the paint job from factory is [Content Removed]. The so called stainless on the gas struts, actually all the gas struts on the trailer, are rusted. Even the so called stainless wheel arches are rusted. The fridge storage compartment is not really designed for a Waeco cfx95 fridge. After reading a couple of articles here, I think I might have to upgrade some wiring to suit the bigger fridge. The little fan does not move enough air around the compartment to keep the fridge compressor cool (In the process of working out a solution). The kitchen slide out is great but the [Content Removed] plate they have attached next to the kitchen pull out, which houses the connections for: the sink light, a 12 volt outlet etc., is barely attached. (Yet another thing that I fixed) I do FIFO and my wife works a long hard job, she is not confident enough to tow the trailer in to have it looked at, so getting the time to have it all fixed has been difficult. Our last rip away a couple of months ago, to Brunswick Heads, the stitching in the canvas at the side door has let go across a 2 inch section at the top of the door. I am yet to have the conversation with them about this.

On the subject of the canvas, we have never been able to erect the tent straight. This sounds odd to even say it but we have never been able to erect the trailer so that the tent is straight. The tension always seems to sit oddly. We have put it up on many surfaces and cant' seem to get it right. Provided you put the support bars in at the right places the water seems to run off the annex well. We are yet to get the annex put up in a minute, as they claim. The side and middle roof poles are a right royal pain in the arse, due to the way they connect to the trailer tent frame. This is another modification in the planning stages.

The sales guy in Brisbane reckons that the guy who owns the company is super proud of his product. He needs to rethink how the trailers are being built if he wants the people who buy them to be super proud of their purchase.

Not 100% happy with the product or services – Unfortunately not satisfied with the unit at all. Or customer service. I have emailed them in regards to parts and the issues I have had to be ignored. Very disappointed ☹️ Well honestly it leaks like a sieve. I’ve lost tools pegs and items due to just raining and all the tool boxes leak. The sink tap broke within 8 weeks of owning it. The glue… Read more

around the sink no longer holds the sink in place. The connection hoses are not in a good spot when opening and closing the back up. All the rubbers around the tool boxes leak as you can’t get them tight enough to make them non leakable. The Zip fir awning broke within 4 weeks of owning it and took forever to get fixed

Excellently equipped offroad trailer – We had an excellent experience with the staff who knew their product and had it well exhibited. A whole lotta camper for the price! – A couple of minor things I found wrong with the camper..... 1. Small cut (1 inch) in the awning which I fixed with a bit of silicone. 2. Latch on the wooden cabin door doesn’t lock when closed (probably never gonna use it anyway). 3. Rear left stabiliser bar is hard too drop / raise. 4. My dog chewed one of the annex panels before I even unraveled… Read more ·  1

it! 5. Got pulled over by the coppers on my way to get it registered (no plates but had a permit). 6. Have to park my car outside because there’s no room in the garage! 7. Work is really getting in the way of me enjoying life in my new toy!

Overall I am very impressed with what you get for your money! It’s only taken me 10 years to finally buy a camper and I am stoked with the Dominator! Heading off on our maiden voyage in the morning.

important because it outlines the lies your staff constantly tell)

Friday the 23rd of November my family and I, along with my sister and her family walk into your Rocklea store to look at purchasing the Black Series Patron. We were 95% sold on buying one so we didn't really need [name removed] spinning his sales pitch to get us to purchase one.

[name removed] proceeds to tell us that there is only 3 left available before Christmas and all going well it they will be there on Thursday (6 days away - amazing!!!!) Finance goes through and all settles on the Wednesday - All going well we will have it tomorrow like [name removed] said.

Thursday 1pm comes around and I haven't heard anything so I call [name removed]. He then proceeds to tell me that the delivery is delayed 2 weeks because of the transporting it up here. Oh don't fool me [name removed] Sydney to Brisbane is an overnight trip - I know this from experience in the transport industry. I then question him further and then he reluctantly tells me they are made to order. After being extremely ticked off and telling him he's a liar multiple times I accept this as arguing with a stupid like him wont get me any further.

Two days later I call Head office and find out a delivery date - Was told Friday the 14th for both campers (Mine and my sisters). Finally we get a straight answer.

Friday the 7/12 I call to make sure its still on track - was told yup all going well and will be delivered Friday the 14th. Perfect - finally its all going to plan. We book the weekend away and half of next week before the Christmas rush.

Had an uneasy feeling so I call again today 11/12 to be told it hasnt even been started being made!!!! Now I'm hoping you can pick up on my anger right now after being lied to no less than 5 times from your company! Apparently now it will be delivered on Friday the 21st - but who bloody knows because your staff cant tell the truth if it hit them in the face.

My sisters however is being delivered this week not sure if you know they deal but we got a discount because we bought two so how is it that one is being made and one isn't???

You see by your company constantly lying to customers really inconveniences them when they make plans based on information your staff have told me.

Its now been 3 weeks since I ordered the camper and honestly my 18mth old could do better at customer service and he cant even talk properly.

Im 95% sure I want to cancel my order unless I hear from you with a good explanation on why I shouldn't cancel my order and how you can turn this bad customer service experience around.

[name removed], I hope you continue to have a great day and I really hope you work on customer service within your company - this day and age social media is everything for bad reviews.

If you're a single traveller, the Dominator is pretty good – Mary, from Sydney showroom is wonderful. There was some delay with me picking up the Dominator initially, which meant I had to cancel a trip away with friends. Did the 'trial run' from South Coast New South Wales up to Far North Queensland in January this year. To say that the annex is a proverbial pain in the **** is an understatement! If you are… Read more

a single traveller, and you're trying to put up the annex in the heat - forget it! They said it's easy enough for one person to erect the annex - it isn't! The annex weighs approx 42kgs! It was such a horror having to unload it every time I stopped, I ended up packing it up and sending it back via a parcel delivery service - which cost me over $200! An option for a 'summer' light material (like that of a fold out marquee) would be helpful.

I've had no after sales contact.

The main frame for the tent (in the camper) is warped, which meant it was difficult to get up, and I was never able to get the tent to be 'flush'.

The internal lights have been dodgy.

Every time I want to use the kitchen, I have to use a screwdriver to push one of the drawers in so that it slides out.

Came across a couple in Queensland who had just taken delivery of their MDC camper (different company) and were doing a 'trial run' as well. They had MDC fit the shower fitting up near the A-frame, and MDC did it at no extra cost!

Recently had to hook it up to take it up to Sydney so that I could have the rear camera which I had fitted to it (not by Black Series) checked, and the brakes are seizing up - dangerously so! Called Black Series and was told to lodge request for repairs online - but when I tried to fill in the online form it was asking for the receipt number of purchase! I mean, really, even after putting all my contact details in?!

I've had trouble with the jockey, and one of the clips to secure the fold-out keeps coming undone.

I mainly drove it on sealed roads, and a few times off road. Had no troubles.

TIP - doesn't matter what type of camper or caravan you decide to purchase, if you haven't already got them fitted to your car/4x4, then I highly advise you have suspension airbags fitted to all your wheels. This has made a huge difference to towing. Firstly, I was able to see over the back of the camper and, secondly, it takes a fair bit of pressure off the engine, which helps with fuel consumption (a little) and a more smoother towing experience. TJM (Rockhampton) fitted my suspension airbags for $550.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with my Dominator and I'm hoping to do a trip in the New Year down south. Hopefully Black Series will contact me and have the repairs done before then.

A Great, Solid Camper – We purchased our new Black Series Dominator in January 2018 and in May took off on a 3 month, 18,000 km trip through Central Australia, Top End, Kimberly's and WA. It performed really well on all sorts of roads, including some really rough and gnarly tracks. It towed well and was very comfortable (after we replaced the mattress with a quality… Read more ·  1

one). I had the bearings checked before we travelled and found that they were well packed with quality grease. Very little dust got into the compartments or the main space, even though we travelled on some very dusty roads.

Had a couple of equipment failures - the battery charger died on day 3 of the trip, and the front winch brake ceased to function after a couple of months. The company replaced the charger with a new one but were difficult to contact and had to be chased by phone and email to try and arrange delivery. Screws on the entry steps fell out after the first few days and one sheared off. These were easily replaced. The cigarette lighter socket for the fridge became unreliable so I had it replaced with an Anderson plug - much more secure.

Some minor design changes around the main doorway would improve the ease of zipper travel, and some smoothing of sharp edges on the stainless steel sink would make for a much better finish. We also replaced the plastic buckles on the bed straps for ones that were much less stiff and easier to unclip.

Apart from the relatively small items above, the camper proved to be comfortable, robust and reliable. I look forward to our next trip away with it.
