Waste of money – I purchased mine on line 12-18 months ago,I was unable to update it, I contacted the seller, who didnt want to know me, and put it back into its box A total waste of money. Show details
need maps update – maps need updating case it sending me the long way and i need to bring it up to date as we do a lot of driving around im not happy with it atm Show details
Piece of rubbish – Bought this second-hand (factory refurbished) through Ebay. The maps were well out-of-date so I hunted for, and eventually found, a company that supplied updates. The update CD cost double what the GPS cost me. Followed the on-line instructions to do the update, but the unit was a dud. It wouldn't recognise the updates. So the unit ended up in the garbage bin where it belongs. I guess you get what you pay for. Show details
Don't waste your money – The maps are more than 4 years out of date and won't be updated because the people who make the maps don't support the Cruise model any longer according to their website. On a good note Aldi did refund straight away. Also the Cruise does not come with a charger.
Nav info errors – Live in Ringwood at Bedford rd 40 zone for school near rail line out by 500 Mtrs going through Melba tunnell Eastlink gps tells you to slow to 40 kph at cameras but it's a 80 zone, some parts maroondah hwy thegps does not no correct speeds eg 80 zone thinks it a 60 zone going to return and buy a tomtom i think
Not convinced about this device – I have only just purchased my Go Cruise AGPS-43CN5 from Aldi (last week). It seems to work ok but I have an issue with the speed it shows I'm doing and the actual speed showing in my car. I rang customer service and was told that the GPS picks up the speed blah, blah, blah!! Whats the point of having this device if its out by approx 5-7 km's? … Read more
One of the reasons I bought it was because I am on the road a lot with work so an accurate measure of the speed I am travelling is important. Has anyone else had this issue?
I'm tempted to return it to Aldi for a refund and look at something else. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I withdraw my previous comments – Previously I said: The maps have a few mistakes such as streets missing Signal strength is satisfactory and sound quality is OK. Haven't been able to find map updates on the Internet. . Installation in a vehicle is simple although I don't bother to use the adapter. I don't like looking at the screen because it takes one's attention off the… Read more
road so I rely on the voice instructions..
However, I found the unit only lasted a couple of months before it packed up. I wouldn't recommend buying one.
Maps not updated for years and really really bad at some locarions – Maps have huge mistakes when comes to certain locations such as a road bridge over another road. Navigator tells you go come off before the bridge, by pass it and go on it again. Drives you crazy in the busy traffic. Toatlly misleading, otherwise if map is OK it is OK. Company says they will update the map, but when? Nothing in the last 3 years, at least they could offer someone who sell an updated map? No..bad for ALDI who sells this product.
GO CRUISE FROM ALDI IS A LEMON – I bought the Go Cruise GPS from Aldi. It does not remain stable during navigation and jumps from one direction to other presenting a major problem in heavy traffic. The most annoying problem is that there is no update available on my extensive search on the web. It is cheap but is not found useful.
Updating themaps – Unit is three years old and on a recent journey from Melbourne to Surfers Paradise many times unit information was incorrect. Have tried to update info and found software was English version. No recent updates available. So unit will continue to tell driver route is wrong and speed limit is being exceeded!!
How do you use it? – We were given a 43PN for Christmas 2014. It was purchased at Aldi but had no car charger or User Manual. It can be charged at home without the car charger but although, the purchaser has contacted the supplier, there is still no User Manual, even though it was promised by 'TopBuy Support' well before Christmas. So I really can't say whether the… Read more
43PN is any good or not. Certainly the service isn't! Can a User Manual be downloaded? Can one be sent to my email address?
aldi go cruise gps 3506 – Hi, I got go cruise GPS-3506 it was working finE the first year. Then every time I turN it on it keep asking for up dating. Until the navigation stopped working at all ! I only can use the music file. On gps NO map only MUSIC FILES. what the HELL and for update need to pay ???
Aldi 4.3" Go Cruise GPS - decent performance on shoestring budget but needs improvement – This review is for the Aldi Go Cruise 4.3" GPS, model AGPS-43CN2. This has been for sale at Aldi for the past two years, regularly appearing in their Weekly Specials. Retail price is $59.99 but some Aldi stores have been seen selling these at $49.95. So there you go - a GPS for under $50. And it has a built-in movie player, music player,… Read more
photo viewer and EBook reader. The GPS comes with the standard in-car charger and windscreen mount.
The review below is rather long...and a bit mixed. But I hope you stay with me. And bear in mind this is a seriously cheap GPS.
THE GOOD: First the price. This has to be the cheapest 4.3" screen GPS on the Australian market.
Next - this unit has a pretty comprehensive feature set that compares favourably.
Navigation - multiple modes (fastest, shortest, pedestrian); you can navigate to a single destination or plot itineraries. Safety option - camera warnings and speed limit warnings (see below)
The unit is nice and thin, maybe the thinnest GPS on the market. The windscreen mount sticks pretty well and includes a stylus in a clever, recessed holder. TomTom, Navman and Garmin should take note. This is a really nice holder. More compact than my Navman's and more stable than my TomTom.
Next - there is a slot for a microSD card. This opens up other options....
There is the free NDRIVE software (available via the NDRIVE website)...and you can can purchase additional maps through the NDRIVE website. I've successfully installed maps for the Gulf Cooperation Council (Qatar, UAE), Western Europe and Eastern Europe (NOTE this requires a microSD card of 8GB or better).
Map installation is pretty easy (easier than the Navman EZY, no need to manually remove maps).
Unit's screen is actually quite nice. Several pre-defined colour schemes. Automatic day-night display change-over. The night-time screen is quite good.
European maps show 3-D buildings - like GPS at several times the price. This is kind of cool.
Multiple languages and voices.
NDRIVE tech support is pretty fast to respond.
And unlike my Navman, the Go Cruise can actually navigate to an intersection, not just an address. Handy.
Nice touch - unit automatically loads the right map set depending on where you are - unlike my TomTom and Navman where you need to tell it which map set to use. So it worked fine for me in Qatar, Dubai, Amsterdam and throughout Germany. And Poland....but read below.
Finally - the hardware runs Windows CE Mobile and the NDRIVE GPS is an application - those of you with the requisite knowledge may be able to "mod" the unit to run iGO Prime, TomTom or other GPS software using the microSD card slot (at your own risk of course).
THE NOT-SO-GOOD: First the hardware side: Absolutely idiotic positioning of the power switch plus its sensitivity. This unit is too easy to turn on inadvertently when being carried in a pocket or bag. Seriously in this regard this is by far the worst GPS I have ever used (compared against TomTom Navman EZY, Navig[8]r).
Next - the screen is very soft and scratches easily (but also easy to fix with screen guards available on Ebay)
Now over to the software....
The maps are not perfect. And the Points of Interest are very limited compared to TomTom and Navig[8]r. No option to load additional POI's
The low-battery warning is hopeless - you get a warning and then the unit turns off, with no opportunity to plug it in. My old TomTom and Navman EZY give you at least a minute's warning so you can plug it in before it shuts down. This has to be one of the most annoying things about the unit.
Unlike my TomTom and Navman, the unit attempts to shut down every time you turn the ignition off...but at least you get 10 seconds to hit the "resume" button. There is no way to disable the automatic shut down.
Time zone functionality is poor - unit is out by an hour for a couple of weeks either side of the daylight savings time changeover. Manual work-around when in Melbourne - tell it you are in Vladivostok. Seriously.
Additional map prices should be cheaper.
There are no free map updates or latest map guarantee. What you get when you buy it is what you are stuck with unless you pay for newer maps
The NDRIVE software is pretty basic, it's blown away by the original TomTom Home and Navig[8]r apps.
There is no automated backup function - you need to do manual folder copy.
Apparently there is an EBook reader - despite trying many formats, I've not been able to get this to work.
The movie player is limited in which files it can handle...and can get quite jerky (not enough processor power?)
Navigation itself is so-so. Algorithm fixates on main roads and will attempt to route you back to a main road multiple times even when a side road trip is significantly shorter. Learn to ignore it.
Limited display information - two items only at a time. For example: current speed and distance to destination OR speed and time to destination OR distance to destination and arrival time (not helpful if realtime clock is out due to dud timezone). My old Navman EZY30 can display four on it's tiny 3.5" screen.
Finally - you cannot navigate between different map sets. I tried to route from Germany (in Western Europe map set) to Poland (in Eastern Europe map set) and vice versa. - unit cannot do it. Had to tell it to navigate to just short of the border, then re-start navigation. Contacted NDRIVE tech support, who told me it's because the two map sets are from different providers. So you need to keep navigating within one map set.
Note the last comment only applies if you're planning on doing a grand cross-Europe road trip. Won't be an issue within Australia.
CONCLUSION: If you need a cheap GPS to navigate around Australia only this unit is a good investment. Even as a backup GPS. The ability to add extra maps (plus its compact size) makes this a decent unit to take travelling overseas. While it's not as good as a TomTom or Navig[8]r, for under $60 it's pretty good value.
If Aldi can fix the somewhat annoying software and keep the price, this could be THE budget GPS to buy.
Considering the price - I would recommend this. But if you need more functionality - be prepared to spend significantly more (unless JB Hifi does another Navig[8]r special),
I give it 4 stars purely on price vs performance. Price, microSD card slot, ability to load extra maps (Europe, Gulf Countries), nice screen, compact, holder, reasonable tech support Software needs improvement, routing algorithm gets confused, idiotic power switch, auto shut-off, map pricing

Product stops working if you don't pay for updates – I purchased the Go Cruise GPS some time ago. When I bought it I was told that you can update the maps for free. I could update for free for about 2 years, but now cannot. A friend of mine has the same GPS and it will not work at all unless you pay to update it. What a rip off. Do not buy this product. It worked very well when first purchased.… Read more
It no longer works unless you pay to update the maps after been told at time of purchase updates were free.
Inferior to the old gps 3506 – It shows Carrum Vic as been in St Kilda .21 Km away . Help desk wont help. Cant enter post codes which is the 2nd line of entry if the first entry did not work. Speed and distance indicator too small and no space for current time. It cant remember where it was last so next days addresses can be entered and distance known without going outside. Looks good Keeps zoning in on Canbera giving false distances.
Brilliant device, especially at the $79.00 price! – Spat the dummy with reliability issues with my Navman MY60T. Purchased this unit 8 months ago as a temp backup, and now is my No1 GPS. Works well both in city and country environments. Doesn't have some of the "Bling" features (eg TMC) of other GPS units but we have found it to be very reliable and most importantly it "gets us there".… Read more · 1
Accurate, brilliant "2nd" navigation screen that gives you all the relevant data (inc altitude!) not shown on map screen. Graphics can look a little like a kindy project.
Great value for money as a basic GPS – Fast, accurate and easy to use. It'a quicker at recalculating a new route than my old Garmin, and as good except for finding points of interest. t occasionally take a while to find satellites, but this is not really a problem. My wife took my Garmin, and now wants this one because the verbal instructions are more frequent and clearer, meaning… Read more · 1
less need to look at the GPS for directions. I think it's amazing value for money!! Reliable, inexpensive and fast to find a route and calculate directions. Lots of options. Only a small thing, but it would be nice to be able to look up points of interest, rather than finding an address and finding them around that point.
really good product for the price – have not had any problems easy to use very inexpensive product so very good value for the price easy to obtain and staff wwere very helpful about this product am very happy and would now not use anything else as it is fairly uncomplicated and easy to use well done inexpensive, ereliable. cant find where to buy a car charger for it Show 5 replies
Very handy – It has been working fine until I tried to press the Navigation button and it won't move. Everything else works except for Navigation. It is a good device when driving around cities on your own and have to stop in the dark and look at a road map.Haven't had it for a year yet. Good price, but if it can't be repaired then not worth it. Don't have… Read more · 9
warranty Sometimes told me to go into a one way road the wrong way even though it's a very established road
Support number is not operating – I have tried for the last week to get someone from their Support phone number to give me a call. I have phoned twice. They only take your number and that is the extent of their support It was fine up until it had a meltdown It wont save in memory my addresses. Everytime I exit it loses all information I have put into it.
I purchased a Go Cruise Navigation unit from ALDI which needs an Australian map update. I called… Read more (+1 reply)
Has all the required features – The unit works fine is easy to use and has all the features of the more expensive brands, however when I opened mine the car adapter was broken (I ended up using a borrowed adapter for something else. The customer service for warranty did not reply to emails nor did they answer the phone. So the warranty may or may not be worth anything.… Read more · 1
Inexpensive, has all the required features. Very poor warranty service. (Do not answer the phone nor reply to emails)
Excellent. For the Price. It IS Updatable. + more – The only better value around than the Go Cruise @ this time is the Navig8r i43 ($77-$98 Average available in many retail outlets) as it runs the same Winsows CE OS on Similar Hardware lifetime Free Updates, better customer support and easier to "modify"...However... My Aldi Go Cruise 4300-A is Excellent for $79. Mine Runs the IGo Primo map… Read more · 1
software and navteq maps which, Contrary to popular N00b beliefs, can be updated at www.naviextras.com, after dowloading and installing the Naviextras Toolbox Software. The current price of the Australia Maps $49 per time, which is 1/2 of what Navman will charge you for exactly the same map. (Navman uses Navteq provided Maps)
Another Underlying advantage of this unit is that it is that is is possible for a tech savvy, adventurous person to run other programs and software on it compatible with Windows CE.....Like Ozi Explorer, TomTom Navigator and Garmin XT, etc with just a little time and effort.
The Voices on this unit can be a little "soft" and the screen contrast is not as good as some more expensive units but you can definatelt live with that for the price.
Overall this is a very capable and good value GPS. It runs Windows CE, It IS Updatable, The IGo Primo Map Software is one of the better ones out there at this time. No Lifetime Free Updates like the Navig8r i43. Minimal Customer Support.

Wonderful value – Have had one for well over a year and it has proved very reliable and useful. For the price, it is a very good device. Others might have bigger screens and Bluetooth connections et al, but for ease of use, reliability in very accurate speed readings, auto night switch and connectivity I cannot fault it. Reliability, low cost
The best value for money GPS in Australia! – Can not complain at all, I don't understand the other reviewers saying the sound is too low, just turn it up! Very easy to set up and use, I realise you can get way more bells and whistles with other units, but if you want a competent unit that does the job, it's a winner, especially as it cost me $79! I also found the windshield bracket very… Read more · 1
good. Thank you Aldi! Easy to use, reliable, fantastic value for money Battery life isn't the greatest, but if you're using it in the car, no problems. Can feel forced when you are removing it from the windshield bracket.
Brilliant! – Had it up and running in around a minute - and I'm 65y.o.! So easy, so good and those that say it's not loud enough go to settings and turn the thing up! Tried to loose it in an area I knew well and got me back on track with the shortest way possible. The first time I used it it was 50 mtrs out but then it became spot-on with the next and has done… Read more
thereafter. (There's an accuracy setting as well). There's night time settings. Still finding things - it's endless, can't wait to use the 'E' reader particularly as Aldi sold out of the 'E' reader pads in 5 mins. Best $79 I've spent for years!
Worth the $79 – Yeah OK, TomTom or Garmin it aint - but at $79 this thing is brilliant value for money. It certainly does the trick and navigates competently - just don't expect too much. The screens are clear and simply to follow but I think the limited software support and ability to input other country mapping (AFAIK) is a limitation....but I keep having to… Read more
remind myself - $79. Yep,it's definitely worth $79. Inexpensive, easy menus, plenty of features Volume too low, no software update / upgrade support AFAIK
Very Good for the Price! – I have used this a few times and I think it works very well. Some people have said that the sound is too low, but for me it is fine. It gives clear instructions and gets you to the place you want to go quickly and with no fuss! When I bought it I didn't know what to expect, the price was very cheap so I just gave it a go. I'm glad I did, it works… Read more
very well, so I can't complain. This Go Cruise is very reliable and the price was excellent. Clear directions and it is very compact so its easy to take around with you. At first it was hard to figure out how to use it (never had a GPS before this one). But after reading the instructions a few times, it works like a charm.
