GO-SIM

Did not work. Zero customer service – We have not used Go sim before. We’re travelling to Asia and wanted a physical sim with text and data. We were going to scatter family ashes so needed a sim to work. When we arrived no luck connecting. Tried contacting the company. No response. Tried again via chat function. No response. Emailed on return home. No response. Heading to Europe in 2024. We will not be using this company. Really disappointing. $91.00 gone. Show details
Avoid – The web site states their international sim works on cruise ships etc. Well they don't . I bought 2 of their SIM cards, specifically to use on a cruise ship and they didn't work. Seems that their help staff know this because they asked "who told me they worked on cruise ships?" I then directed them to their own website and they said it was a… Read more
mistake and their web people would change the website. That was two weeks ago and still the website says works on cruise ships. In most ports, including Los Angeles and Miami I had trouble connecting to the landbased networks. Thankfully they have refunded my purchase price. Doesn't compensate for not being able to use on cruise ship as advertised. Beware.
Terrible – Purchased Data after assurances our device was compatible. The data wasn’t accessible and the help desk incompetent. Promised refunds on two occasions. Two years later still no refund. Don’t Buy Show details

Worked great – We've just returned from a 6 week trip to Scandinavia and used a Go-Sim card in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Greenland. Apart from 2 occasions when the sim took a few minutes to connect it worked perfectly everywhere we went. In fact it was the only pre-paid sim we could find that would actually operate in Greenland and saved us a fortune there… Read more
alone (wifi is about $11 per hour in Greenland compared to $26 for a 1Gb recharge with the Go-sim card). Download speed was always good and in some cases amazing. There is only one small limitation with this card that we'd like them to address. Once you have an active data plan you can't add more credit until your plan expires, and their site doesn't tell you how much data is remaining. iPhones have a section in settings that tells you how much data has been used and we just used that as a guide so we'd know when a recharge was due. We received a text when the data pack actually expired and that helped too. Overall a very positive experience with this sim.
Helped save life in Ecuador! – Purchased Data Sim Zone C 500 MB for $65. as I was going for two weeks hiking trip to Ecuador and wanted to stay connected. Right from start, forgot to print my hotel reservation and remembered only the name of the hotel. In Ecuador, not many people speak English and pronouncing hotel name with my accent...No taxi driver could help me get there.… Read more
Ohhh, I was glad to have my phone with me!
I got into my email to pull my reservation with hotel address and just show it to the driver!
In the hotel itself, NO free WiFi - internet costs $10 per day and if you get it in the evening to send a few emails code is not valid in the morning!
Used my phone and data during my entire trip - No problem all over the country.
Last two days we attempted climbing Chimborazo, stayed in refuge at 4800 meters. Night before accent, serious storm took place. We decided not to clim but there were people who left in the evening to "Castle" camp at 5300 and needed to be evacuated.
I was able to make a call to the park office to request emergency evacuation and ambulance.
One of the guys taken down was already unconscious but still alive!
Great product!!!
Thank you!!!
Slowly deteriorating service and escalating payments - find another service – I've had a GoSim/ekit for years now. The reminder email has always been appreciated and I've set a reminder to make sure I make a call every three months. However, this time, somehow, it changed and I never got an email (although I've since gotten one that told me my number will go away). I HAD $75 credit on my account that they will not… Read more
reinstate w/o buying ANOTHER $30 of credit. And their recharge website keeps refreshing to $50 USD! What kind of scammer have you become, ekit? I called customer service and they wouldn't give me any reinstatement w/o purchase of another $30.
With no plans to travel out of the country in the near future, I don't see what skin off their nose it would take to let me try one my time to get to my $75 of credit and let me make a call every month. Instead, they offer to yank my service.
I suppose if you travel a lot and make regular calls you could use them, but, say goodbye to any of your money left behind - they will gladly lighten your wallet over and over again (and I haven't even spoken about the outrageous charges I got while in Indonesia - somehow the data roamed away all my credit and I spent $100 just to make a phone call). No, find someone else.

Reliable and fast! – Very satisfied with the product. It served me well throughout the usage allowed and provided reliable connection even at the mountainous regions of Japan. The delivery of the sim cards were also on time. Show details
Travelling in South America – I just came from my three week trip in Chile and Argentina. I used phone service from Go Sim. Best score! I had coverage almost everywhere, signal quality - like at home! I highly recommend this company to all my friends. Very attractive price and excellent quality, my rate is five stars!
No problems with us – We had a GoSim card a few years ago it did everything that we expected and never had a problem with it. We would use them again when we travel overseas. Show reply

Where did my credit go? – I wasted a lot of money on this thing. I spent over $70 dollars and made 2 calls and about ten texts and my credit was gone. When others tried to phone me, the line was permanently busy. There must be better options than this.
Data good, voice terrible – Data was good through Europe with the exception of Santorini. Make sure you active your data plan because they will use your credit on data. Gosim sends you a text saying your sim has been activated but doesn’t mention you need to activate data separate to text and voice. I had trouble connecting through to 90% of European numbers - this took time to resolve which wasn’t ideal. Show details
Pathetic service – I bought the International Sim for a recent South-East Asia cruise. I was charged for messages which were never successfully sent. I had so little internet access I could not activate my data package. When I finally got some free wifi, I managed to get the data package activated. We were in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and Singapore. The data only worked in Singapore. Very dissatisfied with the whole thing. Will never use again.

Works but expensive – Shocked when I found out it cost me 75cUSD /min to call in China (75cUSD to sms). Even charge 9cUSD to receive sms. At least it did work. Less value in using it these days as international roaming on ordinary Sims isn't much dearer (and free to receive sms), also free WiFi available in most places.

Rip off. Don’t waste your money – I bought an international sim from this company valued at $87. It was used up when I basically didn’t make any calls or texts or internet search. I sent several messages of enquiry and never heard a thing back.
Waste Of Money – Used this card whilst travelling around Europe worked ok for data for the first month. This is the worst network ever. They said 12$ plan for 15gb and now I had to pay 40$ .Was supposed to – Worst network with fake offers. I purchased a sim plan worth 12$ for 15gb and unlimited calls and texts but now after the payment they are asking 40$ and with no unlimited talks and texts. Better work on it Thanks
Slow and no support – I bought the 5GB China pack but when I got there, found myself limited to 2G speeds. I followed GO-SIM’s instructions to no avail. The online help form elicited no response and the IVR hung up on me when I tried calling the support number. On the plus side the rates were pretty good.

Deceptive Marketing – The USA sim is marketed as 'unlimited data' for 4 weeks, but after 1 week I received a text that I was being 'throttled down' - even though I had only used it for web searches and Skype texts - no video or streaming. A Rip Off – GOSIM website displays data bundles that can be purchased with the option to ADD TO CART. Out of the $320 usd I have invested with this company they sent me an email saying they would refund $45 and that was the end. Case closed. Functions well, but value not compelling – I used a Euro SIM card on a two-week trip to France, Switzerland and Italy. On the plus side, coverage was fine, and the smartphone app was very helpful in tracking usage. Basically, the product worked just as promised on the box. Australia every day or two, plus the odd photo uploaded to social media and a bit of Google Maps occasionally when I got lost (admittedly, that's a bandwidth-hungry app) - but I found my credit balance shrinking very rapidly. A Skype call using mobile data will really drain your credit quickly. The main lesson here is that it's not always easy to appreciate how much data you're consuming, especially when travelling, and before you know it you have chewed through a lot more than you expected. I had to recharge two or three times during the fortnight, and by the end of it I wished I had paid my telco in Australia the $200 they wanted for a two-week Travel Pass, which would have allowed me to use my usual phone number and given me unlimited talk and SMS. So yes, the GO-SIM worked well in Europe but the seemingly steep prices demanded by your telco for an overseas roaming package might not actually be that excessive once you've recharged your GO-SIM card a few times.

Excessive Charges & Terrible Customer Service – We purchased this SIM card for our 14 year old daughter who was going to England, France and Italy on a 3 week choir tour, in order for her to be able to communicate with us in Australia while she is overseas. I had a number of enquiries about the service, including the call charges. There was a recurring charge for messages to and from a European number, and one of the charges to and from this number was before she left (and she didn't even use it then). I mentioned this to the operator, and he said she must be messaging someone in Europe as it clearly shows on the history. I repeated that she only uses the phone to communicate with us in Australia, and doesn't even have any contacts in Europe. He again repeated that she must be messaging someone, and when I repeated that it was not correct and that I would like to speak to a supervisor about the charges, he hung up on me. I tried several times to call back, and my call was not answered. This is the rudest customer service I have ever encountered. Other things that appeared on the history are SMS charges for receiving one message - a message that I sent my daughter which was only 5 lines long was charged as 5 SMS messages (it appears that the character limit for an SMS message is only one line!), and this is the same for sending SMS. When they say the charges for making and receiving calls are from $0.29 per minute, and sending and receiving SMS are from $0.29, the rate is actually $0.69 from Europe to Australia. This was never mentioned in my initial enquiry to get the sale. I have found this company rude, unhelpful, incompetent, and extremely overpriced, and I would never recommend them.
Please note that they don't even deserve one star (as that implies 20%), but unfortunately there is no option to give them less than that.

It did work seamlessly in Canada though which is a plus because from previous trips I know it can be difficult connecting in Canada.

Go Sim Update – I have had a GOSIM card now for 3 years. It's worked well in a very cheap Windows based phone in Equador, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Sicily, France, Italy, as well as the US and Canada and I've been reasonably happy with it. I just use it for phone calls and texts and tend to use free WiFi in hotels for data. However, on our recent trip to Africa,… Read more
I upgraded my mobile phone to an iPhone 6 (unlocked) and ordered a new Nano-sim from Go Sim for travelling. What an absolute pain the GoSim now is - it turns on the iPhone literally every 2 to 3 mins asking where you are 'rest or the world' or 'north America'. This drains the battery so quickly and is just plain annoying. I contacted GO sim service and their advice was to a. update the IOS (this did nothing), or b. change to a GOSim European card (which does not work at all in Africa) or, c. use a non-Apple device. Not helpful at all - when they finally work out how to make this sim work on an Apple device properly, I expect I may again become an advocate. Until then, no would not recommend it if you have an iPhone.

Good in cities, poor rural coverage – I purchased a USA card about one month before leaving Australia and activated it 2 days before leaving to received a message saying my credit was due to expire in 2 days time which, after contacting the company was incorrect. was also set up. My main complaint was that coverage was poor outside major cities. If anyone is planning to spend time in National Parks and touring, I suggest buying a local ATT SIM; my daughter had such a card and often had a signal when I did not. My card did not connect to the ATT network. In the end the costs were probably not that much different from an ATT card. After 30 days, the SIM stops working entirely(no SMS or data) unless you buy another pack (for my last day). For my next visit I think I will buy a local (ATT?) card; better coverage and there is still phone service when the data pack runs out.

Go-SIM card was a rip-off too and used up a lot of money for very minimal activity (2 calls only, no data). Also, performance was inconsistent. It would successfully text some numbers but not others, despite being on the same network, etc. although gave the impression that all messages were being successfully transmitted. When I called customer service to ask for assistance with this, the guy on the other end of the phone could not have been less interested in helping me if he tried. I only bought this product because I was going to Cuba and had no other option, however in the end I shouldn't have bothered. Obviously this company is laughing all the way to the bank.

our friends cards either did not work (in the case of the wife) or worked sometimes in the case of the husband. Buy lifetime insurance for your card. When I upgraded my mobile and needed a nano sim Gosim provided another one without charge.
Convenient, But Expensive For Texts In Some Countries – I bought a Go-Sim in June 2014 to use on a trip in August-October to Singapore, the UK, Jordan and Turkey. The card arrived within five days and setting it up was very straightforward. However, I had a few concerns after using it for a while. Firstly, my call credit seemed to evaporate very quickly. I had bought the US$20 card which included US$10… Read more
credit and had to top up three times in the following two months @ US$20 each time, which surprised me as I hardly made any phone calls (I mostly used my phone to send text messages which I thought would be cheaper). On arriving home and looking at my account online, I saw that each text message had been split into multiple messages and charged accordingly! On inquiring with the Go-Sim customer service centre, I was told that a text message is split after 160 characters, and so I ended up paying for up to five texts for each message when I thought I was only paying for one - pricey in countries like Singapore and Jordan where an outgoing text is charged at USD$0.75 (so in reality about USD$3.75 for a text). After investigating further, I now understand that most networks split text messages which I had not realised. The difference is, though, that with a huge post-paid call credit on my Australian SIM, I don't notice multiple text messages draining the balance, as I never run out of credit. A second surprise is that the recipients of my text messages told me that my texts had actually arrived in multiple parts and sometimes out of order! When I queried this with Go-Sim's customer service, I was told that this was a peculiarity of the network I was using at the time and that I could manually change networks if this happened. That didn't quite make sense as I found that the issue of multiple part texts occurred when sending texts in four different countries - could it have been a network issue in all of them? Also I had no idea it was happening until much later, so it wouldn't have occurred to me that I needed to change networks and that is not the point anyway. One just wants to put a SIM in a mobile phone and have it work without fiddling around in each country to manually change networks!
On the plus side, the UK number that the card comes with meant that texts sent in the UK were only USD$0.15 each. Also the app for my Smartphone was great and allowed me to easily check my balance and top up my account very quickly.
Would I use the Go-Sim on my next trip? Not sure. Having my text messages arrive in multiple parts is probably a deal-breaker for me. I'd also want to shop around and compare call and text charges which I didn't have time to do before I left on my trip this time. However, when travelling through several countries, a global roaming SIM is definitely the way to go. I was told when in Turkey that tourists can't even buy a local SIM as they aren't Turkish residents, so that would have been a problem without a roaming SIM card.
UPDATE - 2nd GO-SIM purchase a year later. I needed a global roaming SIM for my trip to Sicily and Spain in September 2015, so investigated the options on ProductReview. All roaming SIMs reviewed seemed to have their drawbacks and none seemed to get outstanding reviews, so I opted to buy another Go-SIM (better the devil you know!). I got a good deal through Jetstar who were offering a Go-SIM with AUD 20 credit for AUD 27.80 shipped to Perth [link removed]. This was better than purchasing the SIM from the Go-SIM website as I did last year (cost US $30.13 with US $10 credit).
After my previous experience of having my text messages split into many (expensive) parts when sending, I was determined to use my phone mainly for calls. I was also given a tip by my niece resident in the UK to use WhatsApp for messaging instead of sending text messages - she and her friends hardly ever send text messages anymore. Of course, the recipient of your messages also has to have downloaded WhatsApp but once you've done that, you connect to free wifi whenever you can to send messages. As all the places I stayed at offered free wifi, it was never a problem. WhatsApp worked really well and kept my expensive SMSs down to 8 for the whole trip (a month).
Go-SIM phone calls are quite inexpensive, e.g. a 6-minute call to a UK landline from Barcelona was AUD 2.94. By comparison, an SMS which got split into 5 parts was AUD 1.45 (Sicily to UK mobile).
To sum up, wisely used, a Go-SIM works really well, mainly because one can use it in most countries in the world one would want to visit without having to buy different SIMs for each country. Beware the expensive text messages, though and download WhatsApp if you're going to be sending messages to someone frequently as it's free (unless you're using your own data - I didn't). I would definitely use Go-SIM again on future trips now that I've got it sussed. I even came back with AUD 10 credit unused! Most of my calls were incoming, and these are free. I find it really important to have mobile phone access when overseas, especially for emergencies but have friends who don't take their mobiles with them as they say they never make calls. On my last trip, I realised how important to be contactable by mobile as the airline lost my luggage for a week. I was moving around Sicily staying in a different place each night, and got lots of messages and calls from the airline regarding the status of my missing bag. So, even if you just take a roaming SIM with $10 credit on it, at least people can contact you when necessary and it could be important. Go-SIM is great for this as incoming calls and texts are free.
Expensive and drains battery – Every few minutes this sim card makes the phone show a message (Iphone 6) asking what country you're in, and this activates the screen so that your battery is drained - really useful if you need to use your phone as an alarm clock in the morning, or even just because you're travelling and charging points are few and far between - so wasting… Read more

Only wanted this sim because getting local sims can be time consuming, but not at that cost.
